No, it just has one down rod, and the design is swirled around it. It has a chain so the height can be adjusted, but even if the chain is just 2 links, it’s too long. I was so careful about measuring, and knew to take the height of whatever I chose into consideration, but still somehow forgot that part even though I measured everything else more than once after I saw that light.

In other news, Mister’s friend is on his way now to bring the table he made for me. Yay! Please let this go right.

It's very nice for an amateur build. It will look great in a den and it's big enough to play board games on. The boy and the dogs will not destroy it as they grow up in your house. And you can toss a table cloth over it if you ever need to dress it up for a formal party. You can also move it onto your 'yet to be built' patio in the summers. Since you love being outside so much.

And I'm wondering if you're fancy chandelier would fit somewhere better in your house? Although, DS1's house has a chandelier in the dining room and anyone would hit their head on it if there wasn't a table under it. It looks nice. Don't feel bad about the measuring snafu.

I put all new interior doors in our house in Texas, I was just looking through some of this stuff. We had the flat cheap looking no detail doors. I bought new 6 panel doors with a pre-drilled door knob holes and also bought all new knobs. Also got the template needed so I could use the rotor and rout out the holes for the new hinges I put on. It sure was hard to hold them up to screw in the hinges, I used a pry bar. I had some guys working on a furnace one day and he was watching me hang one of the doors and offered to help. He said, I've never seen guys try this before and you are putting these in, said you are doing more work than most men would do. Well, I knew my husband thought it wasn't necessary and wouldn't pay someone to do it, the end result was a real upgrade and ended up helping with the sale of the house. I hung 7 doors, hubs had to do one as he had to adjust it to fit our pantry.
You guys reminded me of stuff I did there. I also put in almost all of the laminate in the house and the quarter round, be surprised what you can do with good tools.

And you can toss a table cloth over it if you ever need to dress it up for a formal party. You can also move it onto your 'yet to be built' patio in the summers. Since you love being outside so much. That table worried me half the night lol. That’s why I deleted the picture. It wasn’t finished in that picture, he sent it to me to ask me something. When I finally ventured into the den this morning, I said ok, I really do like it. I like his rectangular one better, but I did need a square. Right now we have 2 sofas in an L shape in the den, one on the wall and one floating. The floating one will be replaced because I hate it (mine). Mister wants recliners there. The big poofy ones. I’d prefer some that look more like regular chairs, since they do exist. I’ve been putting it off, hoping I can eventually convince him to not get big poofy ones. Anyway, that’s the only way to put the furniture unless we hang the tv over the fireplace. The room has 4 doors including the sliding door. One entire wall is built in shelving with the wet bar in the corner behind a door. Another wall is the sliding doors on one side, the fireplace in the middle, and the brick around the fireplace extends along the bottom of the rest of that side of the wall. The tv is on a third wall. It’s a decent size room, but the way it’s made makes seating kind of complicated and the L shape leaves a lot of empty space in the middle of the room, so that’s why I wanted a decent sized square coffee table. The style works in the seating area his table is in. Their house is “done” and it’s classy, but comfortable, I LOVE it. So I know it’s possible to have a nice looking casual den with that style of table. Anyway, I’m over the table, I like it. I just need to figure out what finish I want to put on it. I decided I wanted to do that part myself. countrygirl2 asked about poly, is that always shiny? I don’t want it shiny.

It’s going to either go in the dining room or breakfast nook. I still haven’t decided which, but I’m leaning toward the breakfast nook. I like having my yoga room. I’m not ready to make it a dining room yet, and I’d have to if I put that light in there. A lot of light fixtures over dining tables are low enough that people would hit their head on them. I just don’t really want a table in there yet. Thank you for being so encouraging.

I believe you can get poly that has a matte finish. I remember doing something like that on a dresser I painted many years ago.

You can get poly in a matte finish without any problem. It also comes in water base. Use that!

I couldn’t stand the table being bare, so I put a tray on it so all the remotes won’t be scattered everywhere. And I stuck some flowers in a container and put it on the table. All of it was stuff I already had around the house. It won’t stay like that, but it’ll do for now. This picture shows a lot of stuff I’d rather not show, like that fugly couch that I didn’t bother fixing before I took the picture, but whatever. If I’d taken it from another angle, there would’ve been even more stuff I’d rather not show.😂 Just keep in mind that almost everything you see is a mishmash of stuff we already had when we moved in, and the room is not anywhere close to what I’d like it to eventually look like.

I don't like polyurethane. I used Rubio mono coat on our floors and have used left overs on small woodworking projects. I love it.

Pink the table looks good and is the right size Like the wall color Thank you! The wall color looks much better on the picture than it does in real life. It’s actually a weird grayish brown. I hate it lol. The only reason it’s not on my painting radar yet is because the ceiling is the same color in a semi-gloss, except for the white beams and I’d rather pay someone to deal with that than do it myself.

Very nice table! It adds a lot to your living room. Thank you. Even though it seemed huge to me last night, now I think the size is ok. There was a lot of empty space between the fugly sofa and the wall with the tv that’s straight ahead. There’s still 6’ between the table and the media cabinet underneath the tv. My living room will be much less complicated whenever I get around to dealing with it. It has 2 fairly large doorways, straight across from each other, and one large window, so not as much stuff to have to work around, like in the den. Mister wants the living room to be “fancy” and I like fancy, so I’m sure I’ll have fun furnishing and decorating that room. One day lol. And since “fancy” is not cheap unless you have the time and patience to hunt down great deals (I have lots of time, very little patience), he’s going to have to give me a realistic budget before I even start in there.

I really like the table. If I had room, I would like to have one that size. Thank you! I like that even if I put something decorative on it, it’s big enough that there’s still room for it to be functional. Besides having room to sit beverages and such on it, like stillmovingforward said, there’s room to play games with Kiddo and my Grandbabies. In my experience, having had a den when I was raising children and had dogs…. with it being the room we all hang out in every day, plus where we tend to hang out with friends and family when they visit, den furniture gets a lot of use and abuse. So the fact that it is a sturdy piece of furniture that was inexpensive enough that I won’t freak out over spills and accidents that are bound to happen, is a bonus. Sidenote, Mister stuck $300 in his pocket last night. When he got home and counted it, he sent Mister a text and said that was way too much. I left it to them to sort that out. But knowing him, he probably insisted on giving Mister some of it back, since when he and I were trying to figure out a price, he wouldn’t go higher than $150 after I insisted on paying more than just for the materials. If Mister managed to convince him to keep the whole $300, I think it was worth it.
