My husband has finally finished redoing the attic windows. He's been working on them off and on for the last six months. He removed all the little pieces of glass, refinished or replaced the wood depending on how badly damaged it was, painted, and then put the glass back in. He still has all the windows to do for the first and second floors, but hopefully it will be a little easier because they don't have all those little pieces. We are using red as an accent color for some of the trim, so he painted the frames red to bring out the other accents.

We have contacted two companies for quotes on storm windows for the first and second floor. The plan is to get interior storm windows before he pops out the windows to refinish them. That way he won't have to make temporary windows to fill in the openings. He used plastic sheeting over a wood frame for the attic ones, and while that would work for the upstairs, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the house empty for an extended period with only a sheet of plastic to keep intruders out from the first floor windows.

I know how hard he worked. I did that in that last house we remodeled. It took me a year as I stopped during the winter even though we had storm windows in it. Plus, I was having some health problems. But I finally got them all done. Thankfully, the couple that bought the remodeled 1910 house was as in love with the old windows as I was. And we had a glass guy at that time that kept old glass for the ones I accidentally broke redoing them. He said the new would have looked strange with the old wavy glass.
He has a hard job ahead of him, but oh the feeling of accomplishment he will feel. And it is just absolutely beautiful. What a lovely home, can we see a full picture of it? I LOVE old houses.

Here is a picture of the whole house now, and 100 years ago. One of my husband's friends salvaged a bunch of old glass from a farm house, so if we break one we can get replacement old glass from his friend.

I have gleefully thrown all the old brass light fixtures in the trash as we've replaced them. I hate brass. It's our home, I want what we like not what's trendy.

Hired a windows company today, but they say they can get supplies and do the work in 3 - 4 months. Got a quote from a painter which I'm going to go ahead with. It's for the entire interior of the house plus the front and back doors: $6k. The flooring guy owes me a quote. I've got to drop him a line. I did get my new stove today! And it has a double oven.

I got some work done today. Trash out, and couple loads of laundry done. The extra laundry products to the basement.
I bought 16 petunias for $4, marked down, so planted those, they were all pink. And Also a nice hosta planted with the elephant ears.
Then took the mower and wagon out and picked up sticks, Will make the yard look cleaner. We have one of those Reacher things and I was able to pick them up without getting off and on the mower constantly.

Your stove looks awesome! We are having a similar delay with windows. We got a quote yesterday for interior storm windows, and they are 18 weeks out. We are waiting to hear back from another company, but I suspect they may have a similar lead time. My husband's work buys laminated glass from wholesalers, and their main supplier is out and doesn't know when he will get more in. The only good thing about the delay is I will have more time to cash flow it. I have funds set aside for the renovations, but they are in an index fund which has sustained a lot of losses recently, so I am trying to cash flow the work and leave our renovation money where it is. So far the first bid is about double of what we projected a year and a half ago when we set up the budget estimates.

In our new house, the kitchen is poorly laid out, but the current cupboards and counters are perfectly fine. I cannot justify a full remodel. We're putting in new appliances and new backsplash. I'm ignoring the floors for now. There's nothing wrong with them; they're just classic 90's light oak. Our new fridge, dishwasher, and range/oven were delivered while we were gone this last week. The fridge and dishwasher were installed, but we had a miscommunication on the range/oven. A plumber will be here next week to hook up the gas line for the burners. A construction guy is here today to demo a wall between the kitchen and laundry room. I'm having a custom built cabinet put in. It was a complete waste of space the way it was set up. The built-in shelves were certainly functional, but they were just not aesthetic.
*Here’s how we bought it: Here’s what it’s stripped down to:

I started following a lady who posts about decorating and remodeling homes. She use to be active in the business, but no longer takes clients.
Anyway, she refers to certain light fixtures as “boobs” and she is clearly not a fan. After seeing what she was calling “boob” lights, I can not unsee that image, because they really do look like a boob and nipple to me after she described them as such. I have a couple of those in my house lol. When I see those light fixtures now, I cannot NOT think of boobs lol. One is in the entryway of my house, and I like the fixture even though it does remind me of a boob now. I don’t see me changing it anytime soon. DD has described it as something she’d expect to see in a bank or something. Idk what about it gives her that impression, but I’d rather it look like something you’d see in a bank over something that should be in a dumpster lol
2 of the others are attached to ceiling fans. I don’t care much about changing them. But one is in my living room, and if I ever get my living room together, I’d like some kind of crystal chandelier in there. Since we have a den, I’d like for the living room to be “fancy”, so why not have a chandelier? LOL!

ROFL. Pink - I totally have those boob lights in my house. DH calls them contractor specials bc they are probably cheapest available. I'll have to tell him what they are really called.

Wow! Where did you find your light fixture, Knee Deep in Water Chloe? We need to replace our main fixture in our dining room, and I'd love to find something similar.

It has 6.8 cubic feet of oven space and the middle of the stove top is a griddle. It's $570 off at Costco. I've had GE ovens in the past and been very pleased.

My stovetop looks like that. I kinda hate the griddle in the middle bc I never know how to clean it and DH just doesn't bother. I think it should be treated like cast iron which then just seems like too much work.

We just scrub it off in the sink. Seems to be just fine. It doesn't need curing seasoning like cast iron.
