I use a space heater upstairs now when I shower, so if it goes on that long, I will take it to the basement. I hope it is finished before then, too, but I can't live with the bathroom being torn up for 6 or 8 months. It is a finished bathroom in the basement, so not horrible. It's just that it's in the basement. 6 of 8 months? Yikes! That's crazy!

I hope it is finished before then, too, but I can't live with the bathroom being torn up for 6 or 8 months. It is a finished bathroom in the basement, so not horrible. It's just that it's in the basement. I have never lived in a house with a basement, and none of my family members or friends in the area have lived in homes with basements. They are not common here. I’ve visited a few family members that lived out of state that had basements, but that’s less than 5. And those were finished basements. For whatever reason, “basement” sounds like a creepy place to me, even though the few I’ve been in, in other states, were far from creepy and as nice as the rest of the house. One has a separate entry, a kitchen bigger than any kitchen I’ve ever had, a spa like bathroom with a steam room or whatever the proper name is, a couple of bedrooms, a living room type space with a bar, and a large media room. I could happily live in THAT basement, even now lol. Maybe it’s a hazard of watching too much HGTV, but I feel you on not wanting to HAVE to take showers in the bathroom in your basement. Your bathroom in your basement is finished, so it’s probably nothing like what my mind conjures up when I think “basement”, so please don’t take it as an insult. I’ve always been honest that I’m kinda quirky and have some strange ideas.

I have lived in houses with creepy basements. I grew up in two of those. The first one had a dirt floor. My sister and I were not allowed to go down there. The 2nd one was never finished. It had the toilet in the middle of the basement (between the washer and dryer) and a shower over the drain (with no curtain). Those were creepy basements.
My first house had an unfinished basement but it did have a finished bathroom.
I think this is the first house I have owned since that one that had a basement. This one flooded during a storm when we got 15 inches of rain in 12 hours. Sump pump couldn't keep up. I had the carpet pulled up so the only thing in this basement that is truly finished is the bathroom. It's bigger in size than the one upstairs.
I have family with some fancy finished basements--truly used as another living level.
If it wasn't just me, that is what would have happened to this basement. Most of my neighbors have finished basements.
I don't want to go to the basement to shower. It's definitely not a creepy basement unless it has 4 inches of water in it. That's why I won't finish it.
The 6 to 8 month is the supply chain issue. The bath tub could have been demolished months ago. I was told the tile would not be the issue, it would be everything else. That is why I told them no demo until the job could be started and completed in the 3 week timeline they gave me. I know that is a guess, too, but I can live with it if I know everything is in.
Once the tile goes up, there will be days when the tile guy comes and is here an hour doing his thing. I was told getting the tile sealed and grouted properly takes the longest and once it's up, those will not be full days.

Pretty much everyone I know has a basement, including me. And most of them are finished. My basement doubles my living space. Houses without basements seem really odd to me. All in what you're used to I guess.

On the US West Coast, basements are not normal. Has anyone ordered a rug from Ruggable? I've found a pattern/color scheme I want for an area rug, but I'm not sure if Ruggable rugs are "good" for a living room. Or, do you have a place you'd recommend to order area rugs? Thoughts?
Here's what I want to get that is perfect regarding style and color scheme.

It sounds like what you want is not the type of rug Ruggables sells. I've been happy with a few rugs I've gotten from Rugs.com and from Costco.

I answered you on the other thread too. I'm really happy with the 2 I got. The fact that I can throw them in the washing machine is wonderful with 2 dogs and grandkids etc. And they really do fit in the washer. I reccommend the thick padding.

I didn't care for the Ruggable I had. It was not thick of enough of a rug for me.

I cannot find any other pattern/color that I like more than the one I posted above. Here’s the room I’m talking about. I agreed to this accent wall color, and 95% of my accent decor is navy and indigo.

Well, that wall is much more of a dark teal than it looks in those pictures.

Oh, it's very bare right now! I've got a lot of work to do in it. It is freshly painted though, so that's fun.

Okay, so I’m not one who can wear more than two colors at once. Nor do I typically have two colors in one room. Is this out of control?

Agreed. Keep the dog. He fits in quite well. *jkg* It all looks very nice. And when you are done, please come north and do my house. I'm TERRIBLE about decorating and I hate it. But I like my place to look nice. I basically remove stuff until we're down to the bare minimum and call it good. Lately, I look at my place and go 'it should look cozier'.

It looks wonderful, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. The teal contrasts beautifully with the ivory tones and makes it look vibrant.

I love it, Chloe! I agree with choosing accent colors from the rug. Maybe a bit of the ivory/cream or gold.
It looks like your house gets a lot of sunlight, too. I'm jealous.
It all looks lovely!

My sister in law was shopping for a Ruggable for her living room. I encouraged her to read the fine print about the backing material. I once had a bathroom rug that discolored the vinyl flooring underneath it. The Ruggable website has a warning that this could happen with their product too. I like the idea of a washable rug, just paranoid because I ruined a floor with a cozy rug in the past.

I’ve been at a work conference, so I finally got this set up yesterday. I keep re-positioning the runner. At the moment it’s all the way behind the couch. It’s covering an electrical cord, which was the antecedent for this whole shenanigan.

A bit of an update. We had all of the doorknobs replaced in the new house. They were all bright brass. I had them replaced with matte black. It's weird how that instantly made me more comfortable. This week, all of the light fixtures and ceiling fans--which are also brass--are being replaced.
New door knob (though there are 20 more, I won’t show you each of them. 😆) Old light fixture. I’ll show you the new one—which is in that box—next week when I get home.

We replaced our brass door knobs with the exact same Schlage handles (and knobs) Knee Deep in Water Chloe Brass is making a comeback, HGTV tells me so but its so not our style.

We want to extend our garage and can't even get a company out to quote it. We have contacted 6 remodelers in the last 2 months and still no luck. Someone in the neighborhood is getting an addition, so we contacted their remodeler to quote it, since they are already here.

The shower is getting closer. Received an email today. They were notified the last two plumbing pieces are to ship on July 13. I had decided I wasn't getting on them until I get home from Canada, so the timing is perfect. Yes, I know I will hate the process but I hope I will love the outcome.

We contacted 9 companies and only one of them got back to us, we ended up using a company that our insurance agent had a relationship with.
