My plan auto-renewed two weeks ago for $280+. I choked, called the number on the bank statement and told the robot answering that I wanted to cancel. The robot came back with the $78 including taxes and fees for the year, which I accepted. I received the credit on my cc. And I didn't need to actually speak to anyone!

I go through this crap (unreasonable rates) every damn year with Sirius. This year the annual rate for two cars was over $400 so I called as usual to cancel the service and within a few minutes it dropped to around $126 per year total for both cars. I am VERY conservative about ongoing subscriptions and am happy with a mix of podcasts and, on longer drives, the music stored on my iPod. BF, who can ill afford it, got the free trial with his new-to-him car and got hooked, as I knew he would. I'll have to let him know about the renewal trick. I hate to see him waste money he doesn't have. I agree- this is a crappy business model they learned from the cable companies.

@athena53 tell him to call now and say he's going to cancel. They'll give a better deal. Even if he paid for a year, they'll adjust it.
I used to spend 2.5 hours a day commuting in the car. I like the channels and I use the app as well. I'm still not paying $300+ per car.

I paid full price for so many years. I didn't learn the call every year trick until I moved here and started going to the "girls high school lunches". One of my high school classmates told me about it and it worked.
I listen to music all day, using Alexa. I listen to a combination of Sirius and Apple Music.
Since my concert going days are pretty much over, this is much cheaper that tickets, travel, hotels, etc.
When I FaceTime the Toddler, his dad tells their Alexa what to play and the same 2 year old song starts playing on my Alexa.
Apple must think I have very strange tastes in music.

Logged into credit card and saw charge hit for my car. I forgot to note the date to call. They tried to offer me $34/month for both cars but that's more than I paid for DH's car. The second offer was for the same price I paid earlier this summer for his car. Done with that dance for another year.

I called over the weekend. I am paying the same price that I paid last year. It was actually the first offer.
It's so silly what the game has to be played every year. The monthly charge that was to hit my credit card was 1/3 of what I paid for the entire year.

I used the "chat" feature on the website. $73.33 for 1 year. I am happy with that. It was about to switch to $22.99/month, which is 1/3.

I need to look and see what we are paying. We have it on both cars and hubs has the unit from the motorhome in his garage.
DD and I listen to the music in the car and would more if we had it in the house. Actually that would be a nice Christmas present for her and I. That is all hubs listens too in his truck. He doesn't do much for himself so it is well worth it for his enjoyment. We need to put a TV in his garage with roku. We are talking about the you tube deal. I need to decide before they come back out here on Tuesday. I have to download an app and never have so don't know how to do that. I'm sure once I do, I will do a lot more of them. Just need to do it.
I am going to weedeat today and not pull weeds. Need to clean both litter boxes. Also it looks like I may have a few ripe tomatoes out there. Can cut the cage out of the cukes so hubs can mow them down. And if the green bean pods are dry he can mow them down after I pick them Will look at the tomato vines, I think he can get rid of some of those too. This wrist brace is good for in the house, but I need my other one to hold it firm and it does.
Sweeper is going, clothes washing, dish washer emptied. Cats fed, DD fed and has pills. She was sleeping so well last night and even snoring a bit I didn't wake her up for her night pills. Going to have to cut back a bit on her food, been giving her more and she has picked up a bit of weight. I try to have her eat a bit more all day, she isn't really hungry but trying to not have her fall and keep her blood levels more even, I think. So have to spread the same smaller quantities throughout the day. The main reason is fast food, she likes McD's so have to watch that and we aren't eating enough veggies lately. Will adjust for her, I'm doing ok. If I eat to much one day, just reduce the next. We had carry in 3 nights last week because of the TV guys coming and that's likely it, we just cannot eat out more than 1 day a week. I get a chef salad but of course she does not. I will get there.
None of us are drinking sodas, I think I'm over the fatigue already, DD is fighting us. I bought her some of the white low cal Gatorade but she needs primarily water.
One of my friends gave me a washtub on a stand. One of mine got a hole in it. Her aunts had it and others and just gave it to me. It's in good shape, I just need to clean it out. I use them when I use my wringer washer.

countrygirl2 You can download the Sirius app on you phone. We use it in the house with portable Bluetooth speakers, like Anker or Bose. This is what we use in the house and DH's building. No need to pay for another unit unless you have spotty internet, IMO.

For some reason I am in a great mood today.
I have not had that side ache since I quit drinking sodas, is it that or the chiro adjustment I had? Who knows, but if has stopped will be so pleased. It has hurt me for years, surely not as simple as stopping sodas?
I have been looking at the different cars that are hybrids and so many seem to either have noise, sluggish acceleration, not a lot of room, and not ideal braking. I just can't decide if I want to go that route. The Highlander is a nice looking car with a lot of good features, but lower mileage then the others. And sounds like very few of them are in stock anywhere. I am test driving whatever I buy, not getting anything without doing that, especially new. I realize if I can trade comfort for mileage, want somewhere in between. We decided its a little early for a straight EV and we need something economical to go see the kids. The prices on all of them are decent if you can find a new vehicle, likely no negotiation on them this time.
I need to narrow down, find some on the lots and have hubs go with me to look at them, this time. Normally I buy my own, but this is new technology and need his input I think.
I didn't know it and not a lot were produced but Ford has a small hybrid truck called a Maverick, sounds like what I could use and the prices are decent. But I have never seen one. I have been looking at Edmunds for the pros and cons of them.
I haven't for quite some time and said I would not buy any. But Pennys had a Laura Ashley sheet set that looked so pretty I bought 2 sets for our beds. I'm sure there is an old one somewhere I can get rid of. I'm trying to do that, bring something in, take something out. Once I see the true colors, may buy a very light weight blanket to match it, I love pretty sheets and only 100% cotton percale.
Well my sweet Smokey is curled up by my leg, but I need to get busy if I'm going to get anything done today.

Thanks Daisylu, we will do that. Hubs can do it for us. Our internet is good in here and we have a booster from the less powerful internet we had in our bedroom anyway. I'm sure there is all kinds of things we can do, we don't keep up with this stuff. Wish son were closer, he would keep all our stuff updated. He tells us, but we have to do it.
We went to our parade yesterday, it lasted over an hour. Hubs pulled the float that ended up winning first prize, I have a picture I will post later if it came out. It was so cute, a dance theme and they had notes and stuff pasted on his truck. Our neighbor who is in the art guild led it, she is very artistic and paints too. She is quite good, we have several good artists around here. One does murals and he has painted quite a few around town. He also does little ones around town. As hubs said, the county seat here has never looked so nice. And I have never seen so many people around or the traffic. I just wish we had more retail. We do have little shops but no clothing but Walmart. We have a quilting shop, all kinds of cake and deli type shops, art guild, they have items for sale. What used to be a jewelry store, has costume jewelry, very nice, purses, and things like that, a historical museum. Some antigue stores and one that displays hand made items where I got my tea cart. A furniture store with high quality furniture. All kinds of farmers markets in the summer. A restaurant, that is mainly a coffee shop for sitting and conversing. Now a convention center that has good entertainment, anything like that is very well attended. This mayor has brought beauty and life back to this county. Oh, and now the new swimming pool. There is a huge demand for housing and I hear 40 more units will be built. There is all kinds of places to fish around here. And we have a park and lake that has a lot of venues. The problem there is limited camping and only a few with sewer and the locals keep them rented for the summer all the time, you can rarely get a spot.
We also have a local winery that is very nice. Most of the little towns around are very clean, ours is the only dirty one. Though we have a lot of nice homes and a park here. But lots of poor and old people in this town. It's extreme here the very well off and the very poor.
We also have a hospital and its pretty good but small only 25 beds, but at least we have one, ambulance services and an expanded sheriffs department. Our hospital contracts with the bigger ones in the city so now we have very good ER doctors here. They are building now a whole new jail complex, sadly a need for that too. The schools here are ranked very highly, but the private schools are hurting us and will cause more local grade schools to close, they still have to use the high school.
I wish we had a theater, more retail, and other stores. We may with these solar farms coming in and the cryto currency farm, that will bring in more people. There are several industries here but not any added in quite some time.
We have a guy that is a potter and some of the things he makes are beautiful. He is taking fresh leaves now, getting an impression and making like a tray, then coating them with a beautiful finish and firing them. I'm going to try and get one for my DIL for Christmas. But sounds like lots of people want them. They are unique and pretty, something different.

I went out and picked a bucket of bell peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers, mostly peppers, what a surprise. Then I looked at the beans, picked a half bucket of green beans. I had no idea I had all those out there.
As hubs says the peppers are costing nothing so I will chop and freeze most of those too, no sense wasting them.
So looking at the pitiful plants that are blooming still, I used the weedeater around them and put the sprinkler out. We may just get one more batch out of all of them. Quite a few tomatoes out there, may ripen yet.
I did weedeating around the house and some other areas. The damn, f**ing thing has had to be restrung 4 or 5 times. I told hubs I'm done with it I'm buying me a new one, he can have that silly string deal on his. So he has restrung it all those times. And I am buying me a new one.
Had to come in drink some juice, cool off and revive. I want to finish around my rose bushes, a little bit in the fence row and I quit for today. I will break my beans and start cooking those.
But I pulled no weeds!

I just called about my renewal. It went from 5.99 mo to 23.99 mo. I called and said cancel. They offered something like 7.99 mo. And I said if I can't get same rate I paid last year, I don't want it. She said okay $5.99 mo for the next 12 mo. And she credited my acct with the difference they overcharged for this mo. I had a much harder time getting same service, for same price, last year. This is one of the few things I do for me, entertainment wise. It's worth it, when I drive so far, to and from DD2s, almost every day. I'm worth it. š

Damn Sirius XM might suck me in after all. I kept turning them down after my (now 3) free trials even when they got down to $5/month, but now they sent me an offer of $99 for 3 years.

I'm still not even sure I want to do the $99 as I only drive that car in the summer for the most part. But, I guess if I take road trips the next 3 summers at $33/summer...

Yeah, I don't listen to it outside of the car. I can't stream anything at work and at home if the TV isn't on I use Pandora or Spotify for music. So, it is pretty much just for the car.
