Thinking of getting this for DH for Christmas so I guess I better figure out how it works. I thought it was only for his new truck. I didn't renew it when the free 3 months were up.

If you have it in a vehicle (for $5.99 a month for 12 months), you also can listen in the house on the app--on your computer, phone, Alexa, etc.

Just got our bill. $27.91/month for the first account. $21.84/month for the second account. That's the upcoming renewal amount. It's currently %8.95/month for the second account. I'm not sure what the first account is set to.

Call them. You can do much better than that.

I go through this crap (unreasonable rates) every damn year with sirius. This year the annual rate for two cars was over $400 so I called as usual to cancel the service and within a few minutes it dropped to around $126 per year total for both cars. I like the service BUT their business model stinks. As an aside each car had a different rate on the paper bill when I got it. Why in the hell would the same signal and level of service be different? What's really goofy is that our higher end car was billed at a rate lower than that of our lower end vehicle (they are both the same model year BTW)

When I first got Sirius, I had no idea I could call and negotiate to a much lower bill.
Yes, it's an annual ritual, but it works. Think of all the people who just accept the rate.

I’m getting ready to cancel my service. I’m getting a new car in January that will come with it for 3 months for free. My current service renews January 1st. I don’t feel like playing the game for less than a month of service and waiting for a refund or transfer to the new car.

When I got my new car this past summer, they extended my Sirius/XM that was already paid for 3 months. Yes, it was another phone call but it worked.

My car a 2018 Mazda CX-5 had a cheaper rate available this summer than the 2016 Mazda 6 that DH drives. I got both of them for $99 plus taxes in 2020. I could only get the $99 on mine this year. DH's came up first. I called twice and the best I could get was $126. I asked for the $99 repeatedly and was told it wasn't available. Mine was due a month later and I got the $99 with no fuss. It's streaming and all of the channels.

I've found that I just need to keep repeating I'm going to cancel, when they tell me X isn't available. so far, I've been holding steady at the $126 rate the past couple years. this most recent time (last month) the guy wasn't going any lower than $175. I had already initiated the cancellation process when he put me on hold for a bit. came back with $126. why is this such a dance? taz157 - I think XM is free for the holidays rn, through New Year's. you'll likely still have the service even if you cancel.

I paid $75 for a year in May. It now expires in September. Are they going to make me pay $126 or maybe you get more than music?

I have all the sports, Howard Stern, etc. Whatever they are calling the top package these days. We listen to our teams while traveling and sometimes on streaming if it's not on TV.

I did end up doing a chat message through their website on 12/26 to cancel my service effective 1/1/22. Today is the 1st day I drove my car and I still have Sirius XM radio. I logged onto Discover (card that's used for payment) and it's not showing as pending. We'll see what happens when I take my DD to school tomorrow.

I'm one of the $4.99/month (plus taxes). Every year they try to raise it; I call and tell them it's only worth $4.99/month. If I can't get it for $4.99, cancel it. They haven't cancelled yet.

I enjoy Sirius in the car a lot. In the house (with the free stream) there are only a few shows I truly enjoy. Otherwise it's background noise.

My second free trial ends in February and I won't renew unless we're going on a road trip. I probably spend an hour a month in that vehicle and am perfectly fine with the radio which comes in better half the time anyhow. It's supposed to work "everywhere" being satellite, but along the steep bluffs it cuts out.

We have it in the car and truck, all we listen too. Then we have a stand alone unit, hubs uses in the garage and I used it in the motorhome. It's $40 a month, I called a year ago and actually got it lowered! About time to do it again.

I like the service BUT their business model stinks. I really try to avoid doing businesses with places that lure you in with lowball introductory rates and then keep sneaking the rates up till you threaten to quit. Fortunately I have Google Fiber in my area and am happy with Netflix so I don't have to go through that, although I see Netflix is upping their rate $2/month again. When I bought my new car, a 2020 model, I got an e-mail shortly after its first servicing at the dealer. (I'd bought it in Des Moines, where my previous car died, and had the work done in Kansas City near home.) Click here and get 3 months of Sirius free. I did- and then found that my car was not equipped for Sirius. Really annoying to have an Owner's Manual that covers all kinds of features you don't have, with the weasel words "if so equipped". I'm sure I could get Sirius enabled on the car for a price, but why? I have a great selection of music on my iPod touch and access to tons of free podcasts. I'm still ticked off at the dealership for handing over my info to Sirius. although I've been able to block the Sirius e-mails. BF bought a used car that came with a free 3-month Sirius subscription. He got hooked, of course.

On the phone with Sirius now. They are willing to let us cancel without offering us a deal below the "standard" price.

Oh, now we're back to the current amount we're paying.
DH thinks I lost a month though. Our current plan doesn't run out until Feb 13, but they're re-setting it now.
We have secured another year at $10.02 per month (includes taxes and fees) per car.

That is strange, they have never reset my date. They just tacked the new onto the existing. But I usually wait until the week of to call. I set an an appointment on my calendar as a reminder.

I pay yearly. When I call a few days before it expires, they credit whatever is left to my new payment. It does move the date up but your money isn't "lost".

My husband really enjoys listening to it, he does in his truck and garage, its one of the few things he allows himself, I'm not going to cancel it unless we get in dire need. We also have cable $50 a month because I like Rachel Maddow, when she goes I may cancel, we allow ourselves some things for just plain enjoyment. All the rest of our TV entertainment is from Roku and free programs.
I need to finish my rebate forms for Menards, hubs spent $800 for doors and lumber, but we are getting almost $90 off toward other products and $40 by using our 5% back credit card, so will help toward the drywall.
I'm set up to finish the little bit of stuff I need to enter into Quickbooks, then sort my tax forms and list out. Need to call for an appt at the accountant.

I failed to properly note the date on DH's subscription so they charged my card the full price. I called and it was a very easy process. They offered $8.99/month for the platinum plan. That was satisfactory to me so I said yes. I had it billed for the whole year.
I did have to ask that they refund my card the difference and not leave it as an account credit. Even my subscription due in early September would not use that up.
It seems when things are not so great (COVID 2020 and inflation 2022), they get right down to business of offering me a rate I find acceptable.
In 2021, I went through 2 reps when dealing with the subscription for DH and the final price was still more than I wanted. That was July and when I called for mine in early September expecting to do battle they offered me the rate I wanted first thing. They refused and said it wasn't available on DH's account in July.

I called this morning for my MIL as her subscription was set to renew tomorrow (I had thought it was today). I was able to get to call and get $5.99/mo (plus taxes and fees) so $7.27/mo for 12 months. I’ll get charged monthly but my MIL will pay me the year’s rate to me now. I tried to deny to see if I could talk to someone to get charged the year’s rate at once but I got tired of being on hold (it was 15 minutes by then). I called back and got offered the same rate. It was for music and entertainment. My MILs wouldn’t care about the platinum items.
Edit: I called (866) 635-5027. That number came up through their site for canceling service.

I guess I was lucky the rep offered for me to do yearly. Maybe because I've always paid yearly.
I called 844-357-3713.
2021 with DH's plan is the only time I've had a hard time. I've never had a hard time with my plan and his was easy this year.
I say DH's but he has my old car so it's the plan that has been on my account the longest
