What is bizarre to me is my lymph nodes swelled like balloons in my neck, thighs and under my arms. The latter is still pretty tender. If I hadn't had this exact response to the second shot I would be freaking out. So odd to me no other illness has produced this before. Sounds like you won’t need a booster! Oh God. It'll be like trying to balance on beach balls for a week. 🤯 I'm far down on the booster list at the moment. Good thing I have vacation carry over.

I guess in some people lymph glands swell so much during vaccination that it confounds a mammogram. I think I scheduled mine a good 2 months after my second vaccination. I suspect between you having covid, being vaccinated and being exposed again that you are likely as immune as you can get.

I am glad posters mentioned that because it's scary place to have swelling as a woman. Two of my coworkers had the same thing happen and were so relieved when I commented on how sore I was. I looked up a map of lymph nodes and yep I'm now intimately familiar with where each one is.

Isn’t he now on Humira? That would explain why he got it so bad despite being vaccinated. I’m sorry you got hit again with it. That's still in insurance limbo. I'm guessing psoriasis being an inflammatory disorder to begin with was a contributor. It was only a matter of time. Schools in Iowa do not require quarantine after exposure so kids are sent right back. I expected it to come from the middle school since they are dropping like flies. Every week I get at least one call. I wasn't paying attention to elementary. So whoops. I'd be having a fit if it was 2020 but now it's just exhausting. So sorry you guys are going thru this. A week ago DS5 had a sore throat (he's 16 and vaccinated). The school rules include that (plus all other sorts of Covid symptoms: cough, congestion, runny nose, body/muscle aches, loss of taste/smell, fever...) - You are supposed to stay home if you've have any symptom in the past ten days. We were guessing he just had a cold, but couldn't be certain, so had him stay home the next day, and were then flabbergasted to learn how hard it was to find a Covid test for him over that weekend. None of the chain drugstores were doing tests near us, and the independent drug store in town charged $60 and let you fight insurance for reimbursement. Ended up as a walk in at a new (hallelujah) immediate care place in the city. Getting the test was quick, but had to wait 1.5 hrs to be seen by practitioner (mandatory), who confirmed was likely a cold. Took 2 days and a follow-up call to get negative test results. So then we were left sending him back to school in defiance of the attendance health rules, because he *just* has a cold, and can't afford to miss a couple weeks waiting for 10 days after symptoms go away. I talked with the school nurse when I called in his absence; she asked "what's going on, because I need to figure out how to code this if he has more than one day's absence." So obviously no one is following the 10 days out after any symptom rule. She also mentioned there *are* currently breakthrough cases among the kids.

A slight one off - rare snow leopard dies of Covid, not even three years old. www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/rare-snow-leopard-with-covid-19-symptoms-dies-at-south-dakota-zoo-a-deep-wound/ar-AAPqPcN?ocid=msedgntpA rare snow leopard named Baya has died at the Great Plains Zoo (GPZ) in South Dakota after exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. She was 2 ½-years-old.
Earlier in the week, the young leopard began showing signs of a cough, inappetence, and lethargy — symptoms of the viral disease similar to those recently exhibited by other big cats at the GPZ. On Oct. 6, a tiger named Keesa "tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19," the zoo said, and the next day, Baya experienced "a rapid decline of respiratory function."
The rare leopards are currently listed as "vulnerable" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List, with about 4,080 to 6,500 estimated to be living in the wild today.

I'm appalled at the # of cases we have with 60% fully vaccinated, 66% with at least 1 dose. Hopefully we can hit 70% once the 5+ can be vaccinated, but the spike is unbelievable and a little terrifying.

The cats at our zoo have been vaccinated. I have mixed feelings on using it on zoo animals. On the one hand they are precious and valuable animals. I get that doses aren't going to be sent where they are needed so better not to waste them.
On the other hand though there are millions of people around the world who haven't even been able to get their first dose. Should we even be asking about vaccinating zoo animals at this time?

Sort of like ‘eat your dinner, kids in xxxx are starving’ Doses here already in the US designated for humans may not be being used, better to vaccinate these rare zoo animals than discarding Yep, doses?? Maybe zoos with these animals could put together a dose response study that would look at safety as efficacy would be difficult

On the other hand though there are millions of people around the world who haven't even been able to get their first dose. Should we even be asking about vaccinating zoo animals at this time? If the doses being administered to the zoo animals are human doses that are about to expire and would then be wasted, how would sending expired doses to other countries solve their vaccine shortages? They would be unusable. Maybe one could make a case for not taking up manufacturing, storage, or shipping resources that would otherwise be used to provide vaccines to people in countries where there are shortages in order to produce vaccines exclusively for animals, but using human doses that would otherwise go to waste to protect captive animals for whom we have a moral responsibility of care doesn't seem to be indefensible at all. I don't know where the doses for zoo animals are coming from, whether they are specifically manufactured for them or expiring human doses, but either way, those animals are in regular contact with humans because the humans have made that choice for them. Surely they deserve some level of protection? It's not like they can make choices for themselves about where they live or whether to be in contact with humans. They are not only vulnerable themselves to infection and its consequences, but by being in regular contact with humans, once infected they can presumably pass the infection on to the humans. Vaccinating the animals, it could be argued, is just another element in the process of protecting the human population.

I'm surprised the medical exemption did not hold up for this guy. www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/longtime-news-anchor-fired-for-not-getting-covid-shot-after-doctor-told-him-not-to/ar-AAPwlZc?ocid=msedgntpThomas, who worked as the evening anchor at KXII, a CBS and Fox affiliate in Sherman, Texas since 2014, was told by his doctor earlier this month that he can't take the shots because he is allergic to two of the ingredients in the COVID vaccine. But, despite this medical exemption, he was fired.
Gray Television, which owns KXII, has required all its employees to get vaccinated against COVID, according to Adweek. The company's mandate has been in effect since October 1.
Thomas said that he filled out the paperwork that the company provided for COVID vaccine mandate exemptions and received a "generic" response several days later stating that his request for accommodation was turned down.
"They didn't care what the vaccine did to me or its side effects or my past medical history," Thomas said in a video he posted on October 6. "None of that mattered. They just said it would be an undue hardship to the company to have me employed there."

He claims he was allergic to the components. I am skeptical, since the mRNA vaccines are unique, and these components have not ben used in many other medications.

I had an interesting conversation with a former neighbor of mine yesterday from Florida. She is SO angry at the current people in power there. Says there is NO WAY there are as few deaths from Covid as have been posted weekly. I kinda figured that, with DeSantis and all, but hearing it from someone "on the ground" makes me wonder what the real death count is in the USA.

So my brother, SIL & Niece who were sick have all had their first shot. They weren't motivated by the illness but by their other daughter refusing to visit them with her baby.
I've heard from DD that she is giving in and taking baby to see them before their second shot. She is feeling like she might not be making the best choice but she misses them.
My DB lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks. He is overweight so if that was fat, it's not all bad but if it's muscle that another kettle of fish. He was mostly in bed during that time so who knows.

You have to willfully ignore all the experts out there to not have more information on just about any vaccine out there than is available on this one. Maybe listening to someone else besides Fucker Carlson about Covid related information woyld be a good start

Knew which school before I opened link. We have discussed them before. From an article in May: It began with the academy’s first open house when David and Leila Centner asked guests not just to wipe their feet but to swaddle the soles of their shoes in Saran wrap. And it continued with an impassioned pledge to mold students into “emotional ninjas,” and with the coverings over the windows to ward off potential radiation from 5G cell towers. (“No adverse health effect has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies,” according to the World Health Organization.) Then there were the non-disclosure agreements required of employees who wanted to quit or parents who wanted to withdraw their kids. And the efforts to persuade staff how to vote in the presidential election. And the invitation to anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to address the school community. And the constant exhortations against wearing masks. ‘Insane and dangerous’: Inside the Miami school that told teachers not to get vaccinated

So my cousins husband is in the hospital with COVID and it looks like he won’t make it.
They didn’t need the vaccine, God was going to protect them.
