He was a working Royal and chose to leave his job No-one gets paid for work they haven't done. Piers is spot on..... the vast majority of people living here would agree with him. Most people are utterly dismayed and disappointed at this behaviour. The Queen has spent a lifetime behaving in a quiet and dignified manner. Their behaviour is demeaning and disrespectful. If they wanted a quiet life for their mental health etc...... then why go to Los Angeles in the midst of Hollywood, Why not a quiet place in the Rockies away from everyone. Its nonsense.... they are using their titles to manipulate their careers. Get invites to celebrity parties to get themselves on TV and to themselves relevant. I think it is absolutely hilarious that a quiet interview about someone's feelings is somehow "demeaning and disrespectful" - when Meghan said nothing about the queen except that she was lovely and caring. Oh how dreadful! But no one gives a damn about these tabloids constant, intrusive, mind-numbing stupid and/or salacious headlines about the family, frequently just making shit up because the royal family is never going to adress any of it head on, really taking advantage of that dynamic that might have worked in the 1950s for the queen, and that is not "demeaning and disrepectful" to the queen? why not?!? You think the queen wants this constant intrusion in their family? Do you think the queen wants her grandson's family hung out to dry right now? You think she wanted them run down so bad they gave up and left? Exactly who is disrespecting the queen is really a question that needs some serious introspection. And Meghan can hate the truly vicious press coverage in the UK - and want to escape it, and also want decent press coverage for herself and her new ventures now. And you know what, Meghan could be a complete bitch and all that stupid press coverage would still be out of line - not to mention disrespectful to the family/queen. If you brits had any real respect for the royal family, and the quiet and dignified manner in which the queen has lived her life you'd stop consuming this daily trash that is nothing but hurtful to her. But you really don't, so whatever. When asking for 'respect for the queen" is really just a license for you say nasty things about someone in a cult of unreasonable hatred, honestly - who is disrespecting the queen here? now - none of us knows if meghan is sweet as pie or a bitch or not, but one thing we do know is that piers morgan is a first class asshole because he displays that daily. and apparently knew meghan in some capacity personally before her marriage (what??) and she cut him out of her life (who wouldn't??). on that score alone, it is unprofessional for him to even take part in this media assault - let alone trying to be a standard bearer on it. he has no objectivity at all. He's a childish temper trantrum thrower on the regular, and got called out by the weather man (?) on all this. morgan has no credibility on meghan and his own personal ax to grind. ridiculous.

We don't know who allegedly made the "how dark the children" comments ...... All the Palace will say is that recollections are different and they are looking in to it. So speculation is gossip.
The culture here, is that we don't do bare-all coverage when it come to the Royals. (Diana did and bitterly regretted it) Nor do we suit newspapers. It comes with the territory, famous people will use the press to further their careers.......those who want to be quiet will stay out of the way. There is ways of doing things and its a well oiled machine.
As for Archie not being a prince, (although Megan Markle says she is not bothered by that stuff she obviously is).... there has been talk for decades about slimming the monarchy down. Its paid for by the British tax payer and the last thing they want to see is loads of free-loaders making a fortune from the civil list. The Queen and Prince Charles have estates which pay for themselves.....but the, young Royals who aren't always titled, are expected to work for a living.
I'm sure she does but you don't get to control the press...... therein lies a dictatorship.
Piers Morgan is married with four kids...... He is not a teenager. He is also a quality broadcaster and journalist. You may not agree but he has every right to an opinion piece, one, as it happens which is very widely supported. He doesn't entertain the stupidity that is "wokeness" and nor do the rest of us ....... other than far left extremists who only represent themselves.

Its funny how Piers Morgan could not even last through one show of being criticized and ran out; yet expects Meghan and Harry to do something he could not for months on end, preferably for years. This is apparently a popular video, showing running off a show for a higher purpose versus your own ego. www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/video-of-prince-harry-running-out-of-interview-for-army-mission-goes-viral/ar-BB1esroB?ocid=msedgntpThe people who are working on destroying the British monarchy is not those who occasionally speak out. I think the British press and some of the British have themselves to thank for that. I've been intrigued by the stories mostly because of the over the top opinion reactions to the interview. To me it blows up the whole idea that there is even a British stiff upper lip to be had.

The people who are seeking to destroy the British monarchy are those who just want to use it to promote themselves..... and go on primetime to whine on about how badly they have been treated when they didn't get their own way.
We are in a pandemic, people are dying in their thousands, the grief is immeasurable ....... and this pernicious woman is crying over her son not being a Prince.
Over-privileged self serving tripe...... Most of us think its disgusting to treat the Royal family in this way. We are happy with things the way they are and never invited anyone in to destroy it
The press have been here for as long as there have been press...... you have mutual arrangements with them. Its give and take.

I must say this whole thing is very weird. I am quite certain that there have been racially offensive remarks made to Harry by someone in that family. We may or may not ever find out who this person is but I am confident it happened and that they will deny it to the bitter end. However put this in perspective this is also the family where a 72 year old man is waiting for his mother to die so he can START on the career that was supposedly his from the day he was born. Sometimes 1200 year "traditions" really do need to be reviewed and revised I remember something a while back with this old lady wearing a cameo that was racist to some family gathering soon after Meghan joined. I think it was Kent or something? Like the cousin of the queen? I wonder if maybe it was them because I remember at first there was pushback on whether that cameo was a problem or not. It's early morning so my brain isn't working as well so I may be remembering wrong.

I don't have cbs, so I haven't been able to actually watch the interview. I'm just commenting on two things from my stepped away position: 1. Did they have a good reason to do the interview? I guess as reluctantly public people, they wanted to explain their decision? Do they really need a reason, other than they wanted to and are free people? 2. How did they do the interview--were they nasty about it? My sense is that they weren't but I haven't watched it, so i can't say for certain.

There were a few moments when you could see the hurt come out, and it was a little "lash-out"-esk. And there were times that there was some defensiveness, which can be a little off putting. But I have been more hurt and defensive about far less important things - so I am not critizing them. If I felt my parents or my close sibling was essentially rejecting my child, I wouldn't be so nice. I am sure there is another side to the story. There is fault, blame and mistakes on both sides. I am saying that not because I know anything about their situation- that is just a general statement on every relationship and every family conflict and every business disagreement on the planet. Always and forever.

I believe Harry has always had issues with the press after the death of his mother. I can see him not wanting that to happen with his family. Oprah was probably a breath of fresh air compared to what it sounds like the British media has been like towards Megan. Why wouldn't they want to grant an interview to someone who isn't predisposed to seeing Megan as a monarchy destroying harpy bitch?

He sure put a hell of a lot of emotional energy in Meghan. Doesn’t it make you wonder why? My best guess is that he was press, and when Meghan met him sh3 was not seeing Harry. Piers has used his bully pulpit to salvage his own ego, and he has spewed continually more vitriol because the British public ate it up. After all, it was that I terloper American he is sprewing his vitriol at.....not one of the REAL BRF.

Piers feels like she used him - was only friendly with him because he was press and felt he could help her. But then when she got in a relationship with Harry she didn't need help because she was dating a royal. So he's pissed that she used him vs being a friend.
Now fuck all if I know how much of that is real, and he's definitely being a shit about it, but he definitely reacts like a teenager who found out the person they thought was a friend was using them.
Probably should change the saying to hell hath no fury like a scorned man.

My 2 cents about all of this....
I liked Meghan, and thought she brought a breath of fresh air around the BRF. They could have used this to their benefit, but didn’t. It appeared they started out on the right track, but something went horribly wrong.
This is what I don’t get. Some 40 years ago, a young woman married into the goldfish bowl. Aside from relationship issues, despite being British titled, she was in no way prepared for what was going to happen to her. Quite frankly, neither was the BRF, and it was handled badly. They know that now. They knew that any fresh blood brought into the BRF is going to get incredible attention. 10 years later Kate comes onto the scene. It appeared that the BRF did a lot more grooming of her, and she had the chance to back out....8 years of it. Kate had local family support, which I imagine helped. The press still raked her over the coals, but it seems like they did it in a more controlled manner (if this makes sense). I think part of it was that Kate was willing to throw bones to the dogs to keep them off her and her kids backs (birthday pics, first day of school...etc).
Fast forward to Meghan. Meghan lived 7 years in Canada, where the BRF is ALWAYS on the magazine in some form. You can’t pass a newsstand without seeing one of them. I remember going up to TD’s family cabin when we first started dating, and his family had left a stack of old magazines there. Every single one of them figured the BRF predominantly on both the covers, and inside. There were articles and pictures I never even saw in the US. Makes sense, Canada is a Commonwealth. So Meghan MUST have had some idea what she was getting into, she’s an intelligent woman. Harry saw how William helped groom (I hate using this term, but can’t think of a better one) Kate, and the amount of time it took. Kate was in the UK during the entire relationship, so she had to live the life of an heir’s gf. Meghan was removed from that somewhat. Throw that she is American, divorced and half black into it and there was a press feeding frenzy. Her own family didn't help, they sold her out. There could have been more done by the BRF to ease this transition. There could have been more done by Meghan to understand that this was likely going to happen. NO ONE handled this well. If Meghan did go to the palace for mental help and was told the optics wouldn’t be good, THAT was a travesty. They handled Diana’s breakdown poorly too, so they’ve got some experience on how to handle things and they STLL did it wrong.

Meghan is accomplished in her own right, she's a strong activist, a charitable woman, and has a huge heart. He could have done a lot worse! But she's American, divorced, and mixed race, so she is obviously an EVIL WOMAN!

While she was an actress, she was supposed to court the press to help her career. When she started dating Harry, he was a danger to Harry and their relationship.

Valid point and I retract the airhead statement, that was not fair. But at the time, Chelsey was pretty young I think, so I don't know if she was a lawyer at the time, but was still very smart. Cressida Bonas his other ex, is a model and actress. I think she had a few flighty moments, and may have been the one I was thinking of, but still not very feminist of me to call any woman and airhead. My apologies all...its early and I'm grumpy.

They traded electronic messages and then they met one time at a pub for two hours. According to Piers it went well. Also according to him she met Harry later that night. From a logical perspective, anyone getting romantically involved with the British family knows they shouldn't be talking to the press unless its Okayed by the palace. I think its an emotional thing for Piers. Maybe he thinks because she is American, she deprived him of a giant British royal scoop. Something I doubt he would have expected if she were British.

Because of her self-serving behaviour and the damage she is trying to inflict on the Crown. Who the heck does she think she is, coming in to someone else's Country and trying to "modernise" the Monarchy. No-one has invited her to do that... and no-one appreciates it.
and he was going to leave his wife and four kids for Meghan Markle? Where on earth did you dream that up from? He probably wanted a scoop, he is a journo after all.

Exactly. So why is he so hung up on a woman he apparently had the hots for ghosting him? Why was he so involved if he had his own life with a wife and children? He sure put a hell of a lot of emotional energy in Meghan. Doesn’t it make you wonder why? My best guess is that he was press, and when Meghan met him sh3 was not seeing Harry. She dropped him (or ghosted him) after meeting Harry (for obvious reasons). Piers has used his bully pulpit to salvage his own ego, and he has spewed continually more vitriol because the British public ate it up. After all, it was that I terloper American he is sprewing his vitriol at.....not one of the REAL BRF. My guess is Piers tells his story repeatedly, but I only watched one clip of him discussing it. Wait....they hung out ONE TIME? Is that seriously it? And he is angry that she dropped him? Do you owe an obligation to be lifelong friends with everyone you hung out with once?? What if during that one hangout you realized, holy shit this guy is a real douchebag?

Piers feels like she used him - was only friendly with him because he was press and felt he could help her. But then when she got in a relationship with Harry she didn't need help because she was dating a royal. So he's pissed that she used him vs being a friend. Now fuck all if I know how much of that is real, and he's definitely being a shit about it, but he definitely reacts like a teenager who found out the person they thought was a friend was using them. Probably should change the saying to hell hath no fury like a scorned man. But wasn't Piers trying to use Meghan too? She is a beautiful young woman. While she was an actress, she was supposed to court the press to help her career. When she started dating Harry, he was a danger to Harry and their relationship. Probably? Though at the time he was more well known then her so besides maybe a scoop I'm not sure what he'd use her for? I'm not saying I agree with him at all, just that he's definitely reacting as if he feels really betrayed.

Prior to them leaving the UK, exactly what did she do that was trying to 'modernize the Monarchy'?

So exactly why does Piers have such a hard on about Meghan? She had a drink with him, then ghosted him. Hell, I imagine it has happened to a lot of people where they met someone for a drink and then the other person ceased to respond to that person. Most adults chalk it up to either being rude, or things didn't go well and go on their merry way. Most do not harp upon the situation for years and use their position to salvage the blow to their ego.
We loved them and looked forward to the future...... Now we feel betrayed.
Why do YOU feel betrayed? What did they do to YOU? You have an incredible amount of investment in a person you have never met to feel betrayed by them.
They didn't have to there is loads of Royals here that have perfectly normal lives ...... if you don't want to go in the papers then stay out of them.
They wanted to use Prince Harry's British title.... to make money whilst living in the US.
I don't see the press feeding frenzy about the other BRF. If they can't find anything, make something up. You don't see Zara or Peter Philips, or even Eugenie and Beatrice raked over the coals with lies like the press did with Meghan. However, the press WAS pretty cruel to the York sisters.
The only reason they started using Harry's British title was to receive money since Chuck cut them off. If you are receiving 6 million pounds/year as living expenses, with your security taken care of, then you use what you have in order to survive. Was there any reason why Harry and Meghan couldn't have gone to another country and still was an ambassador to the British family? I remember there being rumors about South Africa. They could have done their job from there and been a bit out of the British press feeding frenzy. I suspect that they could have done it in Canada too, successfully but this wasn't an option in the BRF. However, when you have to go somewhere else, you are going to go where you can where it's not going to be a problem. Meghan is American. Harry is British. This doesn't leave a lot of options.

If you feel so betrayed, why you support the British tabloids like you do? You would think after what they did with Diana, they'd by a bit better. It seems like they've only gotten more vicious. If they don't have a story, they make one up. Why would anyone live under those conditions if they didn't have to?

I mean that makes sense. I'm not ragging her for ghosting him in my posts - unless they had an on-going friendship. It seems like it was more talking some and only met once in person and then ghost. Not the best, but shrug there's plenty of people I never talked to again after only meeting once. Shit happens. No need to get your panties in a twist like he does. It'd be slightly more understanding if he was like this after a close friendship.

I don't even read the British tabloids.
In any case is it any different to paparazzi and stuff that they'll be getting in the US?
They are trying to turn our age old institutions into a freakking circus of celebrity and damage our Country.
and I have met the Royals.
