Flu vaccine done. Five-mile RT and I walked it, so exercise done, too!

Flu and Covid vaccine done.
I was the only one in Walgreens wearing a mask--even in the pharmacy. The guy that gave me the vaccine wore one. When I was sitting for my 15 minutes, the next two people getting Covid vaccinated were not masked. They were going to sit by me so I only sat there for 5 minutes.
I heard some guy picking up a prescription giving the pharmacist a hard time because he was wearing a mask. I hope he gets Covid.

I rarely wear one- last time was on the plane home from Europe earlier this month- but I NEVER say anything when someone else does. One couple in our church does, but he's got Stage IV breast cancer (yes, men get it) and she doesn't want him to catch anything from her. You never know anyone's reasons and it's none of your business anyway.

Things are so different around the country. As I mentioned a few days ago, here about 40 - 50% of the people still wear masks inside stores. I have since noticed that this percentage is highly store dependent. For instance in the REI near me that percentage was >90%. And in general the percentage is higher in stores that have a masks recommended sign up independent of the type of store (dollar tree closely matched REI). I have yet to hear the first comment about someone wearing a mask. People either do or don't wear one and no one seems to care.
I have no clue what it is like in places like Goodwill as I never shop there. I just go for outdoor donations to that place.

The in-store pharmacy at the grocery where we got our boosters today requires masks to get a vaccine, period. Our local CVS does not require them for vaccines. We wear them in some situations and will continue to do so, especially since seasonal flu cases are ramping up early here and plenty of Covid still circulating too.

Masks are required at doctors offices, but that's it. I don't wear one out anymore unless I'm worried I might be sick. I would never question someone else wearing one, but honestly it's rare. I feel for retail employees who are high risk.

I wear my mask whenever I am with people outside of my house and will do so for the foreseeable future.
I think I would have been better off getting the vaccines in the same arm. Then I would only have one sore arm.

Here in north jersey masks are very rare - see only a few at grocery store, only 2 at church last Sunday
I don’t wear mask any more. Will be getting the next bivalent booster next week

I do when I feel like I'm crammed too close to too many people in a tight space. On the E. Europe trip we took the public bus form our hotel to the Old City in Dubrovnik the first day. It was congested and badly ventilated and only our group was wearing masks. After that I walked between the hotel and the Old City- about an hour each way but the weather was perfect and it was more exercise. I do the same thing in airport trams.

When we got our recent bivalent booster, we were at a county clinic at the Celtic Fest. The nurse was commenting how nice it was to not need to wear a mask because we were outdoors. But our local pharmacy! I've never seen them wearing masks, even when they were required at the height of lockdown. What kind of health professionals are you people? We are still opting to wear masks at work, and there are a few patrons that do likewise. I'm doing it for them.

I am going to the dermatoligist in a few weeks. If they aren't masked, I will leave after telling them why. Exam rooms are too small to be sitting in with an unmasked health professional.
Yesterday proved to me that my decision to keep doing grocery pick up and drive thru for prescriptions is 100% correct.

We were finally able to book the new bivalent vaccines!!! We're both booked for Sat 8 Oct. Given that they are only available here as of 3 Oct, and I'm working all week, and DD is here for 48h, not bad. We are supposedly long overdue for our second booster ... but given that DH and I both got Covid 3 weeks after our last booster, I wanted to wait for the new vaccine. Yes I do know that even the old vaccine would prevent us from dying/ending up in the hospital. I asked my BFF who is a doc at the local hospital ... she told me her hospital was telling their staff not to get the old booster, but to wait for the new one if they could. She said, you've already had one booster, try to be careful, but it's better to get the new booster than another old one, given that you work with college students who don't GAF. My university students all think Covid is just a bad memory, so I REALLY wanted the new vaccine that is better adapted to the more recent strains.

TheOtherMe I still wear a mask on public transport (but not in class). However I DO open the classroom windows WIDE. I keep telling my students, I don't want to get Covid again, so if you tend to get cold, please bring a sweater/hoodie, because I WON'T be shutting the windows. Of course at the break, the second I walk out of the room, somebody shuts all the windows. But *I* ALWAYS get back early from break, and open them all up again LOL. I take public transport twice a week (occasionally 3 times). MAYBE 20% of people still wear a mask on public transport. I will feel so much safer with that new bivalent vaccine!!! PS I also always wear my mask in the elevators ... some people are shocked by that. I don't GAF.

The clinic I go to doesn't require masks now, but about 90% of the patients are wearing them and ALL the employees are. I'm wearing one there regardless of the Covid situation because my doc's waiting room area is only about 15 feet from the Pediatric waiting room and all those coughing kids have to walk past me to the exit.

That's my problem. The Peds waiting area is back to back with where I will wait.
I haven't been there so I don't know if the doctors, nurses and other employees are wearing them. I need to look at their website because I will cancel.
I made the vet where a mask when I had Maddow in for shots. The clerks thought I had lost my mind. The vet didn't say a word.

Here you are still not allowed into ANY human hospital or clinic or doc's office without a mask. This said, young kids are exempt. So when I went to see our GP last week, I was wearing a mask, the GP was wearing a mask, the mom in the waiting room was wearing a mask ... but none of her 4 young kids were.
I opened all the windows there too LOL
Not sure about vets here since Bunny died in 2020 and we haven't been back to a vet since.

For patients, unless you have been diagnosed with Covid in the last 10 days, masks are optional. The providers are required to wear a mask so if I don't get infected by any other patients, I should be okay. I will go stand in a corner if need be. The hospital requires masks but not the clinic. Damn CDC guidelines.

No place except the hospital has been masking here for at least a year. I don't think I even own any anymore. They have disposable ones you can grab at the hospital door if you need to go in there.

We had been giving away free covid test kits at the library. The first batch we got from the county was 50 - we could have as many as we wanted, but had no idea of demand. When those were gone, we upped our request to 90 (a boxful). That same week, the village fire department helpfully gave us another box of 90! Those are now gone, too. We decided to just get the next batch thru the fire department (instead of driving halfway across the county to the central distribution point), as long as they were willing to do the legwork for us. Turns out, the county/state is done - no more covid test kits for the public. I've had patrons looking for tests. Also just learned the pres of the Friends group has covid now. Covid is not done!!!

Sadly, Covid is NOT done yet. We found out we lost an elderly relative from Covid very recently. I wish the media hadn't stopped talking about that virus, because a lot of folks have gone "back to normal".

My work held a flu shot clinic this morning so that's one vaccine down! I just emailed HR to see if they'll be hosting a covid-booster clinic.
A neighbour is a hospital dietician and she mentioned they were expecting a truly awful flu season. I normally get vaccinated anyway but that conversation prompted me to sign up for the shot right away.

Covid is never going to be "done" anymore than the flu is. This, DD is just getting over covid. She had an away swim meet on Friday 9/16. The bus driver tested positive a few days later. It knocked out half the swim team. DD was out of school 9/19 to 9/26 and I wasn't sure she would make it through the day on 9/27. ETA: yes, she is fully vaccinated.

Deaths are way, way down. We got lucky in the way the variant mutated - highly transmissible but way less fatal.

Masks are still worn in my dentist's office. As soon as I get in the room, my hygienist tells me I can take it off. I think the allergy doctor was still requiring them but that was January when I was there.
Outside of medical offices, I don't see many people wear masks.
If it's required then I do but outside of that I haven't worn a mask since the end of winter. It would be required at work if the community level is high but in those cases we can also stay home and not go in.
It's going to be like the flu. It's not going to disappear and if you are expecting everyone you interact with to be masked, you will be disappointed. I know people have different immune issues and comfort levels but I don't see it changing. I know some people don't agree but I think it's better to acknowledge the situation and plan accordingly than to expect it be what you think it would be.

I actually LIKE wearing a mask this time of the year. I suffer from Fall allergies, and in the years since Covid has hit my symptoms have been so much milder. I may keep on wearing a mask, just because I hate coughing hard, & sounding like I'm about to hack up a hairball like a cat.

Hospitals, doctor offices and nursing homes here still require them which I am fine with.
Honestly surprised that wasn't a thing anyhow since if you are in a waiting room at a doctor's office/hospital odds are you are with people who are sick and quite possibly vulnerable yourself. No need to have someone hacking their cooties all over you as they sit behind you despite an entire room full of chairs to choose from.
I would have liked it if they allowed you to still wait in your car so long as you are physically able to. That was awesome.
Otherwise I don't see them here. I don't worry about it anymore I'm vaccinated 3x and have had it twice. I am ready to start living with it like the flu.
I don't even own masks anymore I lost them all or they fell apart. Since the three above require they be surgical/disposable masks anyhow they still provide them so I grab one upon entering.
I certainly don't care if anyone around me chooses to wear one. Outside of the areas above though if I don't opt to wear one that is my call at this point.

Seems we might be transitioning to wear a mask if you have an URI or are very vulnerable. More like Asians which is good. Also people will (?) stay home when sick so less likely to spread illness However if Covid continues to be asymptomatic in many then people will still pick it up Wondering if ‘regular’ flu also has asymptomatic cases in same proportion as Covid? Just don’t test as much so don’t know if you have it???
