I'm vaccinated and boosted and coworkers around me are experiencing their second bouts of Covid.
I don't gossip enough, so much of this is reaching me only after mysteriously absent folks re-appear at work and start getting hugged as a welcome-back.
I'm trying so hard to tell myself that most of these second-rounders have kids and spouses and possibly crowded houses and complicated child-care arrangements that may vastly increase their vulnerability to the bug. I try to tell myself that I have not walked in their shoes -- but then there is the hugging.

They are getting sick again in the nursing home where MIL is. Many employees sick, not vaccinated, some residents, not vaccinated. Hubs is visiting tomorrow but I'm afraid to go in.
It's getting bad here again.

I got my Moderna booster last month and had a sore arm and super tired for a day or so. Then I felt 100%. Hope tomorrow is better for you.

But yeah, my arms hurt after all three of my Moderna doses. It's very disconcerting to turn over at night and feel that type of discomfort. The fear that the pain will get worse is quite real and in my case felt quite similar to a strain or other physical injury that would get worse if I used the arm or continually aggravated it. I just wanted to do nothing until my arm stopped giving me "don't do that" signals.
OTOH, using the arm that hurts after a dose of Moderna seems to make the pain go away faster. I scheduled my first two shots before my weekend so that I could recover but when it was time for a booster (right after a coworker had died of Covid), I didn't mess around and got the shot right before my workweek began. The next day was difficult, but the pain dissipated much more quickly than after prior doses. I attribute that to working through the pain.

It's getting bad here again. It did not have to be this bad. All of the workers and all of the residents should have been vaccinated and boosted months ago. It is an absolute obscenity that this did not happen. How the h### is this called "assistance" or "care" or "skilled medical care" if you can't even hit a simple mark like that?

Massage your arm, or your shoulder above your arm. That helped me immensely, especially after my first dose of vaccine, when my arm hurt the worst. DS & I are scheduled to get our boosters on Wednesday. Dose #3 of Pfizer, and frankly with the increase in folks getting sick around here, I can't wait.

I had heard that Tylenol worked better on the "shot pain" than my go to ibuprophen* so for the booster - I bought a bottle of faux Tylenol on the way out of the store where I got my booster.... and I took a dose of Faux Tylenol as soon as I got home after getting the shot. It worked sort of ok... better than the ibuprophen did for the first two shots. My arm was sore enough for me to keep taking Faux Tylenol for 2 days. The only issue was that while the acetaminophen worked great - it would "cut out" about an hour before the label said it was ok to take the next dose. I just started taking more Faux Tylenol as soon as the arm pain became noticeable. The arm pain woke me up during the first night - and I could fall back to sleep with it - so I crawled out of bed and took more Faux Tylenol. I think this caused me to remember WHY i don't normally take tylenol and have none in my house (it's not as 'seamless' pain relief as ibuprophen for the aches and pains I normally have.) I was achy-feverish for 2 days after the 2nd shot - I was achy/tired/didn't actually have a fever but felt funky like I had one after the booster. That arm pain though - was unique to the covid19 shots for me.... * I took ibuprophen for the achy/fever/sore arm I got from the first two shots - and it didn't even dull the arm pain - hence my change over to acetaminophen for the booster. ADDED: you did good getting the booster. From personal experience since late December- lots of people I know in Real Life had Covid19 visit their home (I guessing it was Omicron) where just about every one in there as vaccinated as they could be people in the house all had some symptoms (or tested positive with no symptoms) and everyone had something less the traditional "flu" level of sickness as in pre pandemic they would have just taken some OTC medications and toughed out continuing their life as if they weren't sick. I feel like having gotten vaccinated and possibly booster - made the "gee whiz the household is sick" a little less awful/scary.

How is your arm today? I hope the pain is subsiding. As others have mentioned, it is a good practice to move the arm, I've seen people do arm circles as they leave the vaccination facility. Half dose of Moderna (50ug) is still more than a full dose of Pfizer (30ug) so it should do a great job boosting your body's immune response. Good luck!

My oldest son managed to get Covid without spreading it to the rest of us. It’s kind of how you would expect it to go. He’s in junior high, so he has way more exposure than the rest of us do. And his vaccination was about five months old while the rest of the household was either vaccinated or boosted within the last two months.
He was only symptomatic for a couple of days, a mild cold. If I had never given him that second Covid test, I wouldn’t of even known. The first test was negative, 12 hours after he was symptomatic. He and his younger siblings stayed home until a week after his symptoms disappeared, and then they all went to school of masks for another week. It was kind of nice to not have to deal with getting them to school.

My pain will be rewarded!! Still hurts, trying to massage when on conference calls and I do use it a lot. I just want to curl up on couch and have a long tv time, drinking teas and soups.....but late night meeting, need to check on my mother tonight, and no rest for the wicked.....

Unfortunately it seems to make zero difference with omicron if you are vaccinated, boosted or unvaccinated. I know several fully vaccinated friends who maybe could have got a booster last month have an awful time with omicron. Not in the hospital but in bed for days too weak to get up. I don't think the difference between the vaxxed and unvaxx is zero. I think there is a significant statistical difference. I know the data is still coming in, but the preliminary stats are supporting a difference. According to my states website Unvaccinated people are 1.5 times as likely to test positive for Covid, 4.5 times as likely to be hospitalized and 6.7 times as likely to die. And the differences between Vaxxed and unvaxxed outcomes are much greater with age.

I tested positive for covid today. I'm fully vaxxed and had a booster in early November. I had a lot of symptoms after a couple of days which seems to have gone away. Smell and taste haven't returned yet though.
At least the shots kept me out of the hospital which is very important to me.
I went to a local Walgreens to be tested. The test strips I ordered haven't come in the mail yet.

I'm so sorry to hear you're sick, imamazed. Wishing you a speedy recovery! You can add me to the "stiff arm & shoulder club". I'm thankful I got the booster (and so did DS), but so far it's treating my body much the same as my first vaccination ever last Spring. Time will tell I suppose. I've gotta go massage my shoulder some more...

I get my 4th shot today! Finally managed to get that booster. 3 pharmacies wouldn't do it even though I showed them all the right information (immune compromised need a 4th shot). I'm super excited to feel like crap 😄

I'm a bit queasy today, but then, nothing I haven't dealt with before on getting vaccinated. And, still beats the heck out of being put on a ventilator. Just a couple days of being inconvenienced, and I should be good.

I'm doing much better. Just so you know, the vaccine isn't keeping me down. Just a couple of days of sleeping more than usual, and I'm back to normal. At least, the "new" normal, not going out much, masking up, etc...

Thursday I am taking my 88 year old Dad for his booster shot. Last March he received shots 1 and 2. In November he was in the hospital with Covid and received antibodies. His 90 days since receiving the antibodies is up and he is now eligible for the booster. That scares me. He wants it though so there is nothing I can do.

There is zero reason to be afraid There hasn't been any problems with getting the booster after receiving antibodies? Darn it! I wonder why the county health department was concerned about whether or not he received antibodies. I had to call the hospital to confirm the last day he received them. They made me worry.

No, there are no problems getting it at 3 months. Get it too soon and you won’t develop an adequate response to the vaccine due to the circulating antibodies he received

Getting vaccinated while he still has the circulating antibody means that the antibody binds up the vaccine before his immune system gets a chance to see it. This will decrease the effectiveness of his booster, which you don’t want to do.

How poorly is the Queen?.......... Buckingham palace don't tell you anything but she has cancelled her video engagement for a second day. She looked very frail, last time we saw her at Christmas...shockingly so.... and now she has Covid. I think they are getting ready for her not being here..... maybe not imminently but certainly not so far off..... She will have been vaccinated, of course, but my sense is that we are in the window where preparations are being made for her demise.

She will have been vaccinated, of course, but my sense is that we are in the window where preparations are being made for her demise. She's a good woman and has led Britain through a lot of history and dealt with multiple family crises and tragedies with grace. They do plan funerals ahead of time, I know- when Princess Diana died quite unexpectedly they used the service that had been in place and periodically rehearsed for the Queen Mother. Well, maybe Elton John was a last-minute add-in!
