I was just thrilled that mask mandates were put in at my kids' schools at the 11th hour. We got an email a couple days ago that a student in my 8yo's class tested positive. Nobody else is in quarantine due to the mask mandate. I asked him if any of the kids in his pod that he sits with in that class were out sick on Monday, and he said no.

Still following Blue October they have been canceling stops due to high COVID rates and people are flipping the fuck out. Like one post was a guy demanding Blue October stand up "to the man" and put on a concert and get rid of the vaccine/test requirements. They need to stop being sheeple and take a stand. Also quite a few bitching they bought tickets and THEN realized they had to have the vaccine/negative test and want their money back. I'm sorry but when I went to purchase tickets I went over the festival rules with a fine tooth comb BEFORE I hit "purchase". Not that it mattered DH and I are vaccinated but if I needed the cards I wanted to make sure I located them in the safe and made copies. Then one is mad because "Well you are 6 feet away on stage so shut up about masks and canceling your shows you aren't at risk!" Uh what about their fans in the audience? You want to go to a concert that damn bad then follow the rules. Clearly you don't want to go as bad as you think you do. You decided that you don't want to be vaccinated, you don't want to test you don't get to go to concert. Two years old understand this concept. And by the way they are nice enough to do a $2 donation live acoustic performance online in exchange for canceling. WITH a Q&A. Most bands right now and last year just outright canceled. We were fortunate Alice Cooper refunded our tickets. My brother was out the money for Motely Crew. They don't have to offer anything in replacement for canceling if you've ever bothered to read a ticket stub in your life. Be grateful.

I swear these anti-vaxxers are worried about what’s in the vaccine - meanwhile they are eating hella processed and fast foods, drinking soda and energy drinks, using nail polish (don’t Google the ingredients of nail polish if you want to keep using it), etc…. 🤣

Cases in my county have plateaued, but the hospitals are still over filled because Covid is exploding in the outlying areas, where the vaccination rates are low. The only encouraging thing is that there are 4 vaccinations for every case state wide.
The state legislature still hasn’t removed laws against mask mandates, but I’m seeing more and more people wearing masks in public. The schools will test everyone if more than a handful test positive for Covid. Only a couple of schools have met that threshold.
I’m really looking forward to the vaccine getting approved for the 5 to 11 age group. My kids pediatrician just emailed me their plan for vaccinating kids who have reactions to vaccines. Holy cow are they prepared!

A coworker of mine came down sick about two weeks ago. He is vaccinated but still got very ill. He did not qualify for the antibodies. He said they were all fine until school started back up.

Central California is having a hard time with Covid, compared to the rest of California. I got my 3rd Moderna vaccine a few weeks ago (I'm immune compromised) and we're just now waiting to see when Moderna boosters will be approved so my husband can get his. (He's healthy, but he wants a booster to help protect me.) He got his flu vaccine a month ago (same day I got Moderna #3) and I just got my flu vaccine yesterday. We're still being reasonably careful and wear N95 or KN95 masks whenever we go anywhere. Then again, with our smoke-filled air quality, wearing those masks just makes sense right now. (We're pretty close to the KNP Complex and Windy fires burning in central California). Only 49.6 percent of people in our County are fully vaccinated. Masks are not mandated in our County/City, but we're choosing to mask up, regardless. Most others are not.

Talking with the boss-man (I am dotted line, so not my real boss). He was sketching out out return to work plans - how often, when, etc. I asked him how many people from our facility had been vaccinated. The last number he saw was less than 60%. I guess that is better than gen pop in this area - but seriously? We are going to go back with 40% of our employees unprotected? Apparently someone was asking if Biden's mandate applied to us - our location is less than 100 people, but our company has far more than that.

My company is asking the same thing and so far from the looks of it our corporate headquarters says yes. It's going to be interesting because we are less than 60% at our workplace and we have some die hard anti vaxxers who are also anti maskers. There may end up being more open positions in the future.

Covidiots can be found all over and their excuses can be soooo weird, like this guy finance.yahoo.com/news/army-officer-quit-over-covid-123708406.htmlSo he had 8 (EIGHT) Anthrax shots, a smallpox vaccination, and who knows what else, but getting the mandatory Covid shot is somehow "Unlawful, unethical, unlawful, and tyrannical...". How did he ever rise through the ranks?

How did he ever rise through the ranks? Doesn't Hannity have to be vaxxed because he's still at Fox? I wish this guy knew him leaving is going to hurt him. Not getting vaxxed isn't a blow for freedom. I'd respect him a little more if he had just resigned and stayed off TV.

How did he ever rise through the ranks? I'm guessing you were never in the military. Every unit has at least one or two officers and/or NCOs who are either completely useless or crazy. If they don't actually blow anything up or otherwise attract unwanted attention that embarrasses or causes trouble or unfavorable attention for their superiors, they can often survive and even thrive unless they find themselves in a unit where the senior officers are willing to put in the work (record keeping, counseling, remedial training, etc.) and jump through the hoops it would take to get rid of them. I'm kind of suspicious about this guy, though. Supposedly he's leaving just a couple of years shy of eligibility for retirement over getting a vaccine even though, as you noted, he has never objected to vaccines in the past. This is not something people do for a relatively trivial reason. It is certainly possible that he is just that stupid, but I sort of wonder whether there is some other reason he felt it would be in his best interests to resign his commission now, and he's using "principles and freedom" as a smokescreen. I'm just guessing, though, and he might just be an idiot.

You guessed that right dannylion - no military service in my history. Being raised by a mom for whom "Befehl ist Befehl" was the ultimate heresy I would not have done that even if I had had any inclination in that direction. To put mom's very strong feelings into perspective: she was an active member of the Resistance/Underground during the German occupation in WWII. Even girl/boy scouts were a definite no-no in my family. Too much commonality with the Hitler Jugend in her opinion

Now the fun begins!
The school district just south of us is going fully remote next week - they have 17 (or maybe 30) students test positive, and thus 175 students need to quarantine. It's the third week of school, now. I think they are just the first domino to fall.
But our district has zero plans for remote learning, none. It's not an option. So if/when things get to a similar situation, they will be scrambling to set it up, again. Spring of 2020 remote was a mess, but I can't blame them at that point. The whole hybrid 2020-21 year was poorly executed because they didn't pick one platform for consistency's sake. So I guess the lesson they learned was: remote doesn't work, ditch it!
Meanwhile, the state's school Covid monitoring website has been down for updates, until at least next Monday. Umm, why didn't you do the updates over the summer so everything was ready to roll when school started?

I suppose he's not going to explain storage, dosing issues, and whose salad dressing it would be in. If there was a devious plan, wouldn't it be wiser to pick something more popular?

I suspect the point is simply to sow suspicion and fear, so he doesn't need to worry about pesky things like specifics and logistics. It would appear that he read about studies seeking to determine whether it would be possible to produce vaccines or vaccine components by growing them in plants (and the article mentioned that lettuce was one of the plants being studied) and just made up his story from there. It doesn't have to be accurate, after all, because once he has "planted the seed" and pointed to the study, the people who are convinced that the world is filled with conspiracies designed to persecute them or to deprive them of whatever their puppet masters tell them they are being deprived of will look at the evidence and believe they are seeing what they are told they are seeing.

Amazing. So being sheeple to crazy people is OK, but assuming many Covid vaccine manufacturers are conspiring against them makes sense?

Let's say they do. Your stomach acid would destroy it. And what information is the microchip going to get as it slides down your poop shoot? Everything comes out the other side. Unless we're going to claim it's going to burrow out of your stomach and I think you'd notice the pain of stomach acid leaking into your body cavity. Or are we talking science fi level nanotechnology? I feel like someone has injected too much bleach and Oleander.

The target audience does not reason or communicate at a level of discourse that would require comprehension of anything more complicated than "they are stealing our freedumbz," so there is no need to be concerned that there would be any thought given to the process involved in implementing any particular conspiracy. In any event, this particular conspiracy, interestingly, does not include the microchip embellishment; the salad dressing will apparently only be employed as a vector for the vaccine.

Sometimes your brain encounters something so stupid it actually has to take the time to attempt processing it.
This is one of those things.

If you are going to walk away from a lifetime pension and healthcare, you deserve what you receive. I guess the military is going to save a little $$ then.

Combine that with the second cousin's twice removed friend of your hairdressers super-sized balls and you just KNOW that all those scientists are just hacks and you should never get a vaccine they came up with. MAGA!
