My cousin from out of town and his wife came to dinner tonight, so you know the house got a good cleaning. I also decided it was time to replace our pillows. I got eight new pillows and purged 8 old ones. I actually put them in the garbage and took them to the . The run included the old tv we took out of the camper and another bag of yard waste that was over our bag limit. Dinner was pork roast, caesar salad and bacon wrapped asparagus. I mixed up frozen blueberries and heavy whipping cream for dessert, it comes out like a soft ice cream. It was a really good day 😁

Today was both difficult but good. Mixed emotions in Toronto I'm sure.
Seems my sister told DN1 that she would contact me to negotiate the length of the trip because she says I will be gone to long. She wants to leave the morning after they would get home and I also want to see the parents. She never contacted me.
So DN1 and his wife and I made plans for me to do this by myself. If she asks, I will tell her when I'm going and the dates. None of us thinks she will ask.
I find it sad that she doesn't go see her grandson. She could have gone earlier as the grandma, but would have been subject to the 14 day quarantine. Again, she couldn't stay that long. Now she has a ride, but can't stay long enough to visit with her son and daughter-in-law as well as her grandson.
I am not contacting her any more about my trip. I will hire a cat sitter and make my own plans and go. As DN1 said, I know who really loves me. That's the sad part. It should be grandma going to help out.

Taxpro, I am sorry your sister is so difficult, but glad your trip plans are proceeding.
Later, glad you managed to declutter a bit, and had a nice visit & enjoyed good food together.
I am just going to put 13 goodwill items in my car, I know I pitched 3 pillows and other miscl stuff from my bedroom yesterday. I had a shoebox in the closet with receipts from 2013-16. I tossed almost all of them. Just remembered I also tossed 2 pairs of shoes
So 49/100.

Today I took a notion and dusted, as you all know I loathe dusting, but got it done. The dishwasher has been ran and the wastebaskets emptied for the week. I also got the toys a little bit more organized. Since the kids are coming back in a little over a week it seemed pointless to get them completely cleaned up. In a little bit I will be heading over to Mom's. Tonight I will take some clam chowder base from our favorite seafood place for dinner. We just need to add some milk and heat. Then I will spend some time over there this evening watching TV with her and visiting.

Hey everyone! I haven't read the last few pages because my client work ended up being full on 15 hour days from Thursday to Sunday. Exhausting but we got so much done, planned and clarified. We were also at the most incredible retreat in the Catskills with an amazing chef, regular dance parties and hand feeding chickens on the farm.
I'm in NYC for the day and head home tomorrow so I wanted to pop in to say I am newly reinspired to organize and clean ALL THE THINGS at home after seeing just how small the spaces are here. I have so much room and need to make it work for me.

I have a few things out in the living room that will be written up and donated this weekend. It will be cooler so I can actually deal with doing activity. Not having AC really stinks during a ongoing heatwave. I know another thing that will be on my must have list for my next home. Everyone keep doing what you can. I have been in a slump for the last few months so hoping I can manage something over the cooler weather. Can you get a window AC unit? I have to have approval from my HOA to do that and let's just say I stay as far away as possible from the carnage as I can. Also for me to do that I would need electrical work done to upgrade my panel just due to age. I need to do it (update my fuse box) but I can't right now.

Well done on the declutter challenge thus far, everyone!
This weekend I did 5 loads laundry, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher twice, watered plants, refilled ice trays, prepped boiled eggs and produce, read, and cleared out a few DVR hours. DH and I went on a day date yesterday which consisted of brunch then a matinee. We hadn't been to the movies since March, 2018. Not because of the shut downs, but because there hadn't been a movie released we were interested in seeing.
Declutter challenge: I tossed some reading material (counted as one item) after I was finished with it, tossed a well worn plastic container that had no lid, and gave 6 peaches (I'll also count these as one) to a neighbor as a trade for zucchini.
17/100
Oh, and I forgot to mention my at home mini spa day last Monday. You should do it, too, if you haven't recently. We deserve it! Pedicure, body scrub, etc.

Safe trip Start!
Love the at-home spa day idea Iggy!
TheO taking care of a toddler 24/7 isn’t easy … have you thought about doing it together for as long as your PITA sister is willing to stay, and then continuing on your own so you can spend time with the parents?
Or maybe even suggesting they spend less time than they’d hoped at the conference? Because from what I know they’ve never even left him before …
I know you love your DN but I worry about you being too kind/ambitious…

snapdragon -- I know that these are available but do not know how efficient they are but it may be an option for you. Portable AC
Managed to get a few things off my to-do list today. Dishwasher was run and unloaded today. Watered all the outdoor plants and best of all the house was cleaned today. I am so glad that I started having this done monthly. Like several others, I do a quick pickup the day before -- putting away items that I like having about but that will make more work for the crew. Every month I find that I am reducing the number of treasures that I have to pick up. Several items hit the trash that I have had for a while so my labor day challenge number has been updated. Only a few more items to squeeze into the box that I currently filling and then I will call for pickup. Any item that I add to that are not counted until the boxes are picked up. Now sure if that will happen before Labor Day or not. I will continue to work toward both goals. TheOtherMe -- I am so happy that you will be making your trip soon. startsmart -- Glad that your business is booming. Glad that your current trip has gone well and I know that you will enjoy the one in the fall as well. Iggy aka IG -- Love the at-home spa idea. I really need to do this. I try to keep the fingers "done" as I find that the extra coat of polish gives them a little protection when I am beading a lot. Depending on the type of wire/thread that I am using my nails can easily be nicked or split, the polish helps a bit in protecting against those. (And I have been beading a lot recently.) Tomorrow I will be running early starting with doctor's appointment and then I plan to get a few things at Target as it is almost across the highway from the doc's office. Depending on how I feel afterward and the weather I will try to get a few more things done. Once I am dressed for running errands I would like to do as many as I can on one day. My usual staying-at-home wear is not suitable for outings. Continuing to evaluate the items in the closet and things are slowly working their way out. I know that I will need to replace a few essentials within the next year or so. Making a list and may even try to get one item here and there. Definitely more is leaving than will be coming in. Will be checking in later. All of you are doing a great job. Take care all. Labor Day Declutter Challange: 48/100

Hi Kids! My end tables are supposed to get exchanged tomorrow. My lamps haven't arrived yet, but that's o.k. I can wait.
I had awful insomnia last night. I'll bet I was awake at least 3 hours before I finally fell asleep. Then, of course, I had to get up early. Looking forward to trying to catch up on sleep tonight...

With school starting, I had the kids give me all the clothes out of their rooms that don't fit or they just don't wear any more. DS#2 took some of the shirts DS#1 didn't want any more. I took a box to the resale shop (pick up $ and items they don't want today) and I have 2 bags to go to Goodwill which I will drop off tomorrow. It feels good to get rid of stuff.

On a couple of days in the past week we've gotten five 12-pack beer boxes of books addressed to DD at our house. Her X is apparently going through boxes since he's moved and sending her what he doesn't deign to keep. She doesn't want them, either. So off they go to be donated.

I didn't either. When I have tried to do that at the counter, they have made me put a return address on a package.
Maybe he is guessing on the postage and not going to the counter?

He could be doing prepaid? But all my labels print out with an address. I know those you can just at the counter but I always get them scanned in.

Well, I was looking for DH's suits last night, I found 3 that are rather new, and they do fit him, but he said one pair of pants is missing. He claims I got rid of them by accident, but I told him that No, I did not take anything of his to goodwill unless he had looked at it, and told me to get rid of it - and pointed out that was why there had been a pile of his clothing on the love seat in our bedroom for 6 months. That shut him up. When I was looking, I found some of my clothing that I had thought I accidentally donated stashed in the closet in the office in the basement. My next goals are cleaning up DS's bedroom. Cleaning off DH's pile of junk on the cedar chest in our bedroom and cleaning out the garage. I have to do this when DH is not home, and I have to get the stuff to the or to Goodwill without him seeing it. He always objects to me getting rid of stuff if he sees it. I had a Jacket I had given to DS in the entry way when he came home the other day, and he had pulled it out of the Goodwill pile. He also noticed that I had the stuff he purchased from Michaels Going out of Business Sale in the Goodwill Pile and told me I could not get rid of it. DH is helping DS with his house - Painting and Installing New light fixtures. Next they have to decide what to do about the flooring - so it is not like he is not doing anything himself. I did not have a car this weekend. BIL was working on it, but the verdict is that it needs to go to the Dealer for Repairs. Which is why I did not get the stuff to Goodwill before DH came home. I did sneak a few things into the Garbage bin that he may have objected to. I really need a new car. We are hoping to be able to get what I want by the end of September.

DH has decided that he's going ahead in converting the smallest bedroom into an office without doing the floor first. I'm trying to get rid of stuff to make that easier. I scheduled the city bulk trash pickup to come and get his old mattress and boxsprings this week. The rocker and foot stool can be taken to Goodwill in my car.
I also discovered the place I wanted to donate kitchen stuff to has added Wednesday as a drop off day. When they started accepting donations again it was Monday only. Monday is hard for me to prep for since we are often away over the weekend.
I should have big updates to my numbers for the Labor Day challenge next week.

DH told me last night he is going to buy a wall mounted fan for his garage, and he'll put the oscillating fan from the garage in the living room, and I'll put the one that is in the living room in my home office/gym. It's been unhealthily smoky outside due to wildfires, so it's time to bring my walking routine back to the treadmill.

I got a large carpet cleaner out of my place. It was on it's last legs and just took up space. Still am adding to the pile for donation -- I need to wait for it to cool down before I can do that.
Starting a pile for Half price Books so I can get some pocket money. I still have things from Dad, K & Mom that can get donated. This will be a slow go but I will be happy to have some re-usable bags back.

I forgot -- I broke down and I have a portable indoor AC coming. But it won't arrive until next week after our heat wave over this weekend. But I know it will come in handy on those warmer days.

finnime USPS has a very inexpensive 3rd Class Book Rate, discovered this when DD failed to return her Rented Text Books to the College Bookstore before coming home for the Summer.
I left work early because we had no power. Boss sent a message that we and several of our Tenants still had no power around 9 pm.
I was going to Mop the floor, but fixed my hair and went to get passport photos done.
I tossed a shirt I was going to wear b/c it was torn 50/100.

I am home again!
Picked up the dogs from the kennel Wed morning and we were home by noonish. Thankfully I was able to unpack the car and start to clean out the fridge before work completely took over with busyness.
The good news is that the client work part of the trip was so fantastic, they were grateful to have me there and I get to bill 2x what I normally do because of expenses + extra fee to be on site for 4 full days. They also gave me the dates they want me back in New York in November which should be fun.
In the midst of all this work we were also doing a major launch (same client) and not only met our goal but exceeded it by 32%. And for the accountants in the group, while we offered a 6 month payment plan, we also collected 63% of income already so the business will see the financial boost now and for the rest of 2021 and slightly into 2022.
Home is all good, the package I ordered that arrived last Thurs was still on my porch (would have been stolen in a hot second in other cities), the garden is blooming and I am getting back into my routine.

My cleaning ladies were about 4 hours late on Tuesday, and when I told them that, they didn't understand etc. Shortly after they left their supervisor called. I finally told her that I didn't need they since I'm staying home and have no further use for them.
I'd rather not have to clean my own house but it's small and easy. I can easily use the $142 per month and save that money for other things.
