Welcome home, startsmart! bean29, you're doing an excellent job at the declutter challenge! Blonde Granny, I don't blame you for "letting them go." Things are mellow here. Last night, I did my mid-week changing out of the kitchen and bathroom hand towels, and emptied, reloaded, and started the dishwasher.

What I spend on my housecleaner, I consider a necessity of life. That is why I paid her not to come when Covid was really bad. I may decide to do that again.

I get why you consider the house cleaner a necessity, and why you want to pause if things get out of hand again. I argue with myself all the time about hiring a cleaning person. Still consider ourselvrs to be “wealth building”, so have not done it yet. Thank you but it will require some work on my part to get to 100. I have a Wedding Saturday and another out of town on September 3rd. In other good news, I have been watching what I eat, and have shed a few lbs.

I ordered something that some will thing of as clutter, but it won't be clutter to me. It's a signed copy of Billie Jean King's autobiography.
She was such an influential part of my becoming an adult, that I need this book. I still admire everything she does for women and women's tennis.

Now that the kiddos are in school full time, and I have 6 hours a day to myself, I am hoping to tackle some organizing. It's time for our master closet to have it's bi-annual clean out. H & I also share a 6 drawer dresser (3 drawers per person) and mine are so full they won't close. I think our room will be a great place to start and I love that I can take my time with it.
After that I would love to tackle under our bed and the nightstand drawers. My business workspace is in our room, and I am quickly outgrowing that corner. H and I are watching Facebook Marketplace for a super cheap camper that I can gut and turn into a new crafting space for the biz. (cheaply) I would LOVE to get that all out of our room so that it's a relaxing space again, but we are limited in the house. Backup idea is to frame and finish a room in our very unfinished basement. The only concern there is dampness. I've got research to do.

Good afternoon ladies.
This week has been busy.
*My cleaning crew was here on Monday *medical appointment and errands Tuesday *more errands on Wednesday (RX refilled after Tuesday's errands) * today I stayed home and reorganized one closet. Many items were added to the donation box, a few items were trashed, some items will be cleaned and then donated to a different charity then the one that will pick up the boxes at the end of the month. Currently have three filled boxes plus several bags to be picked then and I have a little over two weeks to add more to this planned pickup. * No idea what tomorrow will bring. * Laundry and dishes are up to date. *Renewed my global entry -- mine was scheduled to expire in the spring wasn't sure how long it would take and didn't want to forget to do so. *Craft project -- using leftovers from the stain glass class I took a while ago I did a mosiac using leftover scraps that I had on hand. This is not the first one I have done using these little leftover pieces. Still have enough for another project or so. This way I can use things I have on hand to be creative and put the small pieces into one larger item. Currently my only OOP is for a picture frame from the dollar store that I use as a base. Everything else I have on hand. * Beading project -- still have#5 from the craft retreat to finish but I have finished one necklace set and have another one in progress.
I registered for my fall classes. The majority of them will be over zoom and are ecercise related. I am not ready to go back into the gym at this time and this is a great alternative for me. I will start walking in the park again as well once the temps come down some. A few classes will be in person but all must be vaccinated in order to be involved and we must be masked as well.
I am sure that I have comments but will have to come back to do some. Til later!

Hi Again! DD came over for dinner tonight, and when she saw the work I'd begun on her old room, helped me with the taping, which I greatly appreciated! With a bit of luck, I may be able to paint tomorrow. I've already removed the plates over the light switch, electric outlets, and the vent cover. Silly, isn't it, that you need both a phillips screwdriver AND a normal screwdriver to complete that task. It's supposed to be sunny, but hot later in the day. So, I'm not sure if I'll complete it in one day, but I'll definitely try.

I was fortunate enough to get to be a ball girl at a Virginia Slim's tennis tournament many years ago. Billie Jean was huge in trying to get the ladies to get the same pay as the men in professional tennis circuit. I didn't see Billie Jean there, but maybe you remember Rosie Casals?

I do remember Rosie. Lucky you getting to be a ball girl at one of those tournaments.
Yes, Billie Jean was instrumental in getting the women paid more on par with the men.
I used to watch many matches between Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. When I had the basketball player living in an extra room for a summer, she was all excited about a summer meeting they were having but she couldn't tell me until she came home. Turns out the coach had gotten Martina to come speak to them. She felt really bad when she found out I had Martina's autobiography as she said Martina was signing everything they asked.

Labor Day Challenge 22/100.
The mattress and boxsprings were picked up by the city bulk trash this morning. I've gotten rid of a few smaller things this week.
I have the donation piles started for next week. Hopefully we'll get both dropped off.
DH is supposed to go through his clothes this weekend. Most of the dress shirts probably do not fit and can be given to his nephew or donated.

Good morning! Wrapped up full work week. purging challenge is up to 40/100
Here's a secret: I tossed one of DH's icky, hole-y shirts without telling him! He promised he wouldn't wear it out in public again, but he did! I let him put it in the laundry. I even washed it. Then I took it to work still wet from the washer and put it in the trashcan there.
We are at home this weekend and do not have any guests. So, the chore list is long! I'll post that in a bit. Breakfast first.

Good Morning
I had a few errands to run this morning and one of them was to drop off several books at the library as a donation. Several other items hit the the trash this week. I have been continuing to go through items on a regular basis and have made the effort to eliminate several items when I do so. This week was a good one in that aspect. I need to check the website of one of the charities I thought about donating to in order to see what the requirements are. If the items I was going to give them don't meet their requirements than I will package them up to go with the other items that will be picked up at the end of the month. None of these items are in any of my counts. I only count the items once they are no longer in my house/garage.
Everything is just going along as normal. Take care all!

That is what my mom had to do to get rid of dad's hole-y underwear, socks, handkerchiefs, undershirts and shirts. He would always say there was still wear left in them.

Tried something new today and made a to do list of 2 items. Finished those and added 2 more, repeat until tired.
I sewed a pillow cover that I’ve been meaning to do for a year, made Thai curry Mac and cheese, cleaned off the table, did the dishes, picked veggies in the garden and a bunch more little stuff. Also finished unpacking from my trip.
Unless my Atlanta client brings me back in August, I have 6 weeks at home until my next trip. I also need to book flights for November for an event and back to NYC.

I've been lurking of late but not posting. I saw the 100 items by Labor Day challenge and had been picking away at it. Taking a break right now but I'm determined finish. Today I was inspired to really embrace the challenge and start from zero and attempt to hit the 100 item mark in one day. 65/100 as of right now. All today. That tells you that I have lots of things in this house that I really don't need. I have random boxes of stuff that came out of the rooms upstairs that I have been avoiding. I have a tote full of items I can use in my office at work, if I ever need something I can bring it home. Who knew I had a binder clip fetish? Or 100+ pens? So many post-it notes... Some donations are already in my car, and lots of trash and recyclables. The house is still in shambles. One year and counting and DH is at this moment finishing the last of the hardwood floors upstairs. That should mean that those rooms are ready to go but nooooo... He didn't paint the trim although I asked repeatedly if the painting was finished. He kept saying yes, but now I know he meant walls and ceilings. I've tried to stay out of it since physically I'm no help at all, but I'm kind of pissed. I need this to be DONE! Once the rooms upstairs are put back together the stairs are being replace. Then the hallway, living room and dining room. AAARGGG. I should have known what I was getting into. I wanted to save money by not hiring a contractor but I may bite the bullet and let someone else install the floors once he rips up the old ones and installs the new subfloor. I still have 30+ boxes of flooring in various places around the house. Depends on the cost, though. I've given up on most of the housework. The kitchen is clean, the living room is clean. Other than that it's just banging my head against the wall. An example: DH's desk is in our bedroom blocking my bureau. And the door to the closet. I just keep wearing and washing the same clothes without ever putting them away. My laundry basket looks good on the pile of boxes in the mudroom, right? When everything is installed I'm having a friend come help me deep clean everything starting at the ceilings upstairs and finishing when every speck of sawdust and plaster dust is removed from the premises. She is a machine when it comes to cleaning and dirt fears her. She's just what this place needs. I'm not comfortable with having a service, I've considered it, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It sounds like everyone is humming along, getting things done. It's inspiring and I thank you all for that.

The shed will get cleaned out this morning. I'm not even sure what we'll find in there. I do remember well, 18 years ago when I bought this house, setting up the shed. I had a set of metal shelves to hold small items, and bought rubber-coated giant hooks to screw into the framing timbers and hold tools, etc. above the fray. Over the years layers have built until I just grab what I can from the front. I'd say the odds are equal that I'll find buried treasures and useless, rusting Stuff needing disposal.

My plan for today is to go on a Treasure Hunt......a number of years ago my late DH gave me a beautiful leather day planner for Christmas, and while looking for something else yesterday I remembered it. I'm not certain I still have it, but I'm going to be looking for it.
I likely will be surprised at what else I find today.

As I sat having my Sunday morning coffee I casually mentioned to ISO that I really want to purge and organize the entry closet. He jumps up right away away and says "Let's do it!"
Do you know how many coats you need to keep when you have 4 seasons? A woman needs at least one casual and one dress coat for each season. A man can use the same coats from spring to fall. So a minimum of 12 coats. Then you have the option of having a -40 C coat for the 2 weeks it gets like that in the winter. Thank goodness we aren't snow mobilers.
All that being said, we still cleared out an industrial garbage bag worth of coats plus a few pairs of footwear. And I got the closet organised with the sand and salt for ice removal off to the back side and out of the way.

Sounds ike DH. He had about a dozen coat and jackets. Never left the house his last 2 year but he would be damned if he was getting rid of any. They're all been donated to the Veteran Services here in town. Except for my SIL's Army jacket. That went to a niece as she was the only one who could fit in it.

102/100 for Labor Day challenge.
From the shed came: garden tools, Christmas Stuff, rusted out shelves, hot tub chemicals, gardening supplies, chicken wire, deer barrier, plastic containers, equipment for a gas lawn mower we no longer have, 1 hub cap, traffic cones (!), tiki lamps and more.
So glad I hired this chore out.

It took me until this morning but I have surpassed my 100 item goal. I stopped counting and just kept pitching. My neighbor's daughter just signed the lease on her first place. I'm sensing an opportunity. Two lamps are already gone and she's considering a storage cabinet I've been waffling about keeping. Fingers crossed that she wants it. Otherwise it will be relegated to the basement and it's actually a fairly nice piece, I just don't need it anymore. I've already foisted off everything I can to my girls. Also spent a considerable amount of time cleaning off 130 years of accumulated hand grease off the bannister. I knew it was dirty and have wiped it down countless times over the years. What I didn't know is that it wasn't actually stained dark. The wood underneath is beautiful. I'm not done, but I've done what I can for today. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. It's finally stopped raining, the heat wave is over and it's a beautiful day in New England.

I’ve been switching up between cleaning, batch cooking and organizing today. Plus I put in a few hours of prep work for clients before Monday.
I also tried to mow the lawn but after dosing myself in bug spray I still got bit and came back inside. I moved some boxes upstairs and put away my clean clothes (but still need to go to the laundry mat):
I’ve made Thai Mac and cheese, corn chowder and pickled radishes.

After taking them home and going through them, the same color DD painted her master bedroom was one of my "finalists", so I'm buying her leftover paint (she had most of a can left, since she'd purchased 2 cans) and that's what I'm going to use. lucky you! I think I may have a similar stroke of good luck. my neighbors texted yesterday to say their dumpster was getting picked up today, and if I had anything non-household waste, to load it up. well, I didn't realize paint wasn't an option, and I brought over all of the leftovers in colors I'm actually in the process of painting over. well, when we brought it all back, I took a closer look at the big 5gal pail that was over half full - it is exterior paint, the 'dove gray' that was used to paint the siding on two sides of the house. I think I'm going to use that to paint the back sides of the shed and return the still-unopened cans I just bought for this project. welcome back, Malarky! do you think your young neighbor could use a shopping trip through my duplicates and extras? I've unpacked more and have a bunch set aside to bring up to empress of self-improvement if I ever get that far north again.

Our broken chest freezer will be picked up today for $15. This empties a back corner of DH's workspace, so he is very happy.
We hosted a small outdoor party this weekend with vaccinated guests (DH's coworkers). This really helped motivate me to finish several small house projects. Need to keep the momentum going.
