The kids leave tomorrow, but we'll see them again soon for 2 more weeks. We rented a house for us and the kids for a week, then they come back here for a week. Our best friends are coming for dinner tomorrow night so I have to catch up on laundry and clean the house (the cleaner is on vacation.) DH will BBQ. Lots of socializing this weekend ... too much for me, but all good friends, and we haven't seen some of them in a LONG time because of Covid. DH is a LOT more social than me so when I'm not working I make an effort. This weekend- wash vacation sheets/Thurs - remake DS2's bed/Thurs- wash basement quilt/Thurs- wash all towels + bathmats/Fri - return Amazon package/Fri - wash guest room (DS1's) bedding/Sat Today we bought new (stacking) glasses because we didn't have enough. Now we have 16 "everyday" glasses instead of the 8 we were down to. We also bought a 3-shelf shoe rack to replace ours (2 shelves). When the kids are here there is a pile of shoes at the entrance, and I'm terrified of tripping. This will help. www.zodio.fr/etagere-pour-chaussures-3-etages-avec-latte-en-pin.html

I don't know if my house will get cleaned tomorrow or not. Cleaner put on FB that her father had an emergency with his health yesterday (he has cancer) and she's doing a lot of cancelling. I don't know where he is located but he comes first. She has one helper and there is no way 1 person can clean as many houses as 2 people can in a day.

Today I finally sold a lamp that I have had for years. I bought it at a school auction and loved the look of the lamp. It just didn't put out the light I wanted or really fit with my decor. At one time I had thought of changing my decor and the lamp would have been perfect. It has just kicked around the house. Periodically I would list it for sale on craigslist or the FB garage sale pages. It has been in two or three of our garage sales. Today it sold out of the blue. I was actually surprised the listing was still active on craigslist. Tonight I got more painting done and just need to do a second coat in DD's bedroom. I have loaded the cedar chest back up, except for a few things that need to be relocated to the memorabilia box. Nice to have those things out of the kitchen. The rocking chair is out the living room and back into the bedroom where it belongs. This weekend will be the big push to get things put away and back in order. Got to get the house all clean so the grandkids can come and spread toys everywhere. DD isn't sure when she is coming in either Wednesday evening or Thursday mid-day. Then garage sale will be on Friday and Saturday. 2/100 items gone.

Cleaners sent me a text late last night that my house is 3rd on the list today, so it should get cleaned.
Cats are totally confused that their toys, etc. are all put away. Poor spoiled babies.
Going to a Town Hall in a park in town this morning, then grocery pick up on way home.

I'm glad your house is on the list TheOtherMe . Ugh, the dishwasher broke!!! It has an error code and the repairman can't come till tomorrow. Since we're having people over for dinner I hand washed everything. I won't make it to the post office today for the Amazon return. I also started washing "clean" sheets that were in the linen closet for DS1+DDIL to take home for E. I've lost track of how many loads I've done, and I'm still not done. This weekend- wash vacation sheets/Thurs - remake DS2's bed/Thurs - wash basement quilt/Thurs - wash all towels + bathmats/Fri- wash guest room (DS1's) bedding/Fri- return Amazon package

I was hoping the cleaners would have been here while I was gone. I've been home an hour and they still are not here.
I was hoping for a brief nap before the softball binge watching.

We're packing like crazy today. Amazed how much kitchen stuff DD has accumulated. The good news is, I'd offered one of my Mom's old china sets to her, and she's taking it. Once she removed it from my kitchen cabinets, I noticed there's a lot more room.

That’s so nice that your DD is taking it Busy! My nieces refused …
Laundry all done and 95% put away.
The repairman called for the error code … he has to order the part so Tuesday at best. At least the dishwasher was considerate enough to break down after the kids left!

Harvesting some zucchini from the garden and think that I'll try to grill tonight and get some food prepped for next week. I am really enjoying how spacious the kitchen is with the pantry installed, I should have done it sooner! I may also expand the pantry to the other side of the laundry room, it would be about $130 more but would give me double the space for storage. I still have some small appliances that could move out there, plus my laundry items, cleaning, and some of the nicer bowls or pots I have.
Thinking about it!
I've decided not to move forward on my closet until later in August, I will need to get the whole space cleared out and prepped before I go buy the materials for the closet build.
Still on the list is the washer and dryer IF I can find time to buy between work responsibilities. I've scheduled the plumber to come in mid-August so maybe I can coordinate that delivery and get it all set up at once.

Big news which is top secret for now but I might be postponing my trip to the Black Hills because around the same time I was invited to speak at a conference! It's all expenses but flights paid and with an incredible group of people which could lead to more business AND I could finally break in my new passport Waiting on more details but so excited for this possibility!

The repairman called at 5.30 pm to say the part unexpectedly came in today, would we like him to come to fix the dishwasher? I said OH YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!
My guess is that he doesn't know how long his days will be, so he prefers to "fudge" when he can come/when he'll get the part. I get that. I was SO HAPPY he came today rather than on Tuesday!!! This local store has been going strong for 50+ years.
The repair wasn't cheap but it was MUCH cheaper than a new dishwasher!!!
I have been buying major appliances from this shop since 1984 because their repair service is so fantastic! I have friends who pay 10% less for their appliances from the big box stores, but then they wait a week or 10 days for repairs.
I also washed the last of the bedding that was in the convertible couch. You may remember that last spring DS1 decided to switch his good bed in the basement with the convertible couch in the guest room.
At this point we're ready to get rid of that convertible couch and just use the basement for storage.

moneysquirrel - I definitely want to go visit now that I'm so close but I got invited to speak for 90 minutes at a conference which includes 5 days at a 5-star resort in Mexico so... I can't pass that up!
Today was pretty good, despite the heat index of 108. I did get in the pool and got both dogs in to cool off. Pulled a bunch of weeds, harvested more cucumbers, planted more hostas and grilled burgers and zucchini from the garden for dinner.

I worked hard all day and you can't hardly tell. My brother was supposed to bring a bunch of stuff over for the garage this coming weekend today. I had also asked if he would install my curtain rod. I was also going to have him move my desk back into place, but he didn't know that. This morning he called and had two emergency service calls, the life of a business owner. He also said that my nephew and his wife, who are currently living in Dad's house, were both sick so he didn't want to go over there. I've gotten some things moved back into the office but am limited on what I can do until the desk gets moved into place. This morning I get the bed changed and started laundry until until we got to a neighborly enough time that I could go out and mow the lawn. I also started moving some things out of the garage to the backyard to get ready for the garage sale. Then I started moving things from the living room back to various places. I did get rid of a few things. 9/100

debthaven -- Wonderful news @repair of dishwasher. So glad that he was able to get the part. That supply chain issue is causing a lot of delays so he may have erred in the line of caution in his original estimate of the repair date. Sharon -- Good luck on the garage sale. You will get your office back in order soon. Sometime things just don't go as well as we would like but there is usually a good reason. startsmart -- Great news @ the offer to speak at the conference. Take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy the resort. The opportunity to visit the other area will come. Also let me know if you ever make it down to my area again. This week had not been very productive for me. Started with a sinus attack last weekend and have been resting all week plus my taking usual remedies. Only left the house once for a few hours once this week. Doing better today and hope to get to church and grocery in the morning. I will be taking precautions with mask and social distancing as usual. I did get several loads of laundry done this morning and the plants outside got watered. Also reorganized a few small areas, and did about an hour of beading. Hope to get a few other cleaning chores done tomorrow if I can. Have nothing on the schedule this week. We thought we had a craft show scheduled but our registration was messed up and therefore we will not be participating. In a way with the rise of Delta varant cases I am a little relieved that it did fall through. After several weeks of daily rains we have had a few days of dryness. The ground was so satutated that we needed the respite from the rain. Of course, now we have the intense heat. Labor Day Declutter Challange: 19/100

Sinus attack? Sounds scary. I have so much to declutter. Even boxes which just need to be recycled. Going to see if I can register a raffle win, which is why that box is still inside, but I'll see if I can make the box leave one way or the other tomorrow or early next week. So much laundry to do first. Got my hair colored late, and its still not dry ... so that's why I am posting. Want to finish changing bed linens, but might stop at the pillowcases and do the bottom sheet etc. tomorrow.

33/100 now that we're minus some more clothing, some children's video games and two baseball hats. DH has been selling some items he found in DS's room on eBay, which is nice.

Hoping for a quiet but productive week! There’s so much backend work to do that I need to get studious and put in 2 hours per client per day to keep up (8-10 hrs/day) and also prepare for my upcoming trip to New York. Laundry, general cleaning, garden upkeep, building the brick pathway in the yard… so much to do.
Also these bugs are eating me alive so I can’t forget to drown in bug spray before I take out the trash or water the plants because this itching is keeping me awake at night.

startsmart congratulations on the speaking opportunity! debthaven glad your dishwasher is repaired! moneysquirrel hope you are feeling better. Great job on the decluttering challenge, everyone! This weekend's unpleasant chore was Swiffering the stairs for the first time in longer than I care to admit. Decluttering challenge: ~Threw out a chipped and cracked small dinner plate. No love lost there, however, as it was from our old 16-year-old set. ~Much to my chagrin, a plant didn't survive while I was on vacation, so into the garbage it went. 9/100

debthaven -- I am feeling better. I used to get these attacks a few times a year. Some type of allegy usually. Have a system of OTC meds that works if I can catch it early enough. Think I did this time -- still not up to par but much better than last weekend. I am beginning to catch up on some of the things I let slip then. Today I was able to unload the dishwasher, quick mopping of two areas, organized one area of the closet, add several items to the donation box in the garage and shredded a bunch of items. Beaded a little after lunch and got dinner started. Should have enough for several days. Resting now as I think I may have overdone it earlier -- started coughing -- which happens occasionally when I either do or talk too much. Anything else can wait until later. Labor Day Declutter Challange: 40/100
