Sharon - what a lovely memory of your dad always looking out for you and your home I agree with TheO, grief can hit at the oddest times. I just started working on my purple quilt and it'll likely be slow, finishing sometime in September. Trip Advice - I remember years ago some WIR went on a trip to the Black Hills and I didn't attend. Well, I'm considering driving to Mt Rushmore in October and would love suggestions if any of y'all have gone. You can post or message me directly! ETA: I got the vertical supports for my pantry installed! It is sooo much easier when you can see the studs (because the drywall on the bottom half of the wall is missing). Now I’ve got to bring in the shelves from the car and install. The fun part is coming!

Wow moneysquirrel! What state are you in again? I bet we have similar rainfall here in Kansas, got another 9” last night and tons of lightening. Feel free to post and count toward 100 items, approx 2 per day, for the most relaxed challenge ever! startsmart -- I am in Louisiana just outside of New Orleans. 12/100 ( Also aded this number to the running total for this year.)

Give me a few days to gather some info and I will get back to you. The late SES planned that adventure as she lived a few hours south of the main area and knew the area. That trip was in 2010.

I am keeping up with the house. Laundry is up to date. Making another pass through the house with the purpose of getting rid of some additional items.
Also continuing working on the projects from the retreat. Finished the third project and currently working on the 4th.
Rains continue on a dauly basis. At least some days it is a light one instead of a monsoon. The area on the other side of the lake got 8 inches this morning.

Thanks moneysquirrel! I'd love any ideas because I doubt the monuments have changed much since 2010! New Orleans is also on my list now that I live much closer!
I got the whole pantry installed and now I'm futzing with the shelves. I only put in 4 but am hoping that I can add the 5th for more space. Already the kitchen feels so much more spacious with the baking, canned goods, snacks and odd appliances out there. At some point in the future I'll add 3 base cabinets for more closed storage but that definitely needs to wait a bit until the floors are level and tiled.
Scrubbed the bathtub really well and got some of the scummy stuff off. The plumber was supposed to come today but had a family emergency so we're back to scheduling again.

Sharon about the curtains, we put expensive curtains in our bedroom (we usually buy Ikea curtains). I felt the same way you do about them getting grubby. So I bought curtain pull rods from Amazon. We got white ones but they exist in several colors (black, white, transparent, silver, gold). They clip onto the grommet. Problem solved! DH picked up my computer this afternoon. They replaced the keyboard under warranty ... it works like a charm now! I'm so happy to have my computer back! DH and I took E to the Jardin d'Acclimatation today (a park/petting farm/amusement park/zoo right outside Paris). We had such a wonderful day!

I found a handyman who will hopefully install the curtain rods sometime this week. He didn't really like the idea of such a small job, but said he would do it. I also cancelled the carpet cleaners that was just to overwhelming to think about.

Sharon IF you're up to it (and only if!!!) there are spray carpet cleaners you can buy. You spray, it foams up, you let it sit for a little while (30 or 60 minutes), then you vacuum it up. Just a thought. It's not as good as professional carpet cleaners, but often perfect is the enemy of good (enough). Iggy aka IG you must have had a great vacation to come back so energized LOL! I got another motion-sensor light, for the front door. DH installed it. We don't need it now but I will in the fall when it's dark when I get home.

What a difference a day makes. Last night I was a hot sobbing mess and got very little sleep. This morning I even told them at work I didn't feel good and slept about an hour. Today after work I finished painting the trim in the office and got a second coat on over half my bedroom and the first coat on the rest of my bedroom. Then because of what had the second coat I was able to move my bed and dresser back into place. Previous the bed was in the middle of the room with the dresser shoved up next to it on one side. Last night I went to get up in the middle of the night and whacked my knee on the dresser. The night stand is back in place, no more alarm clock hanging out on the window sill.
It feels better to have things somewhat normal. There is still a lot to do but there is hope.

Books, books and more books out the door to the thrift shop, plus discarded a broken kitchen scale and 2 jackets that have seen better days.

12/100 tossed so far including a juicer that was missing pieces (for juicing lemons and small fruit).
My pantry is up and I love it so far! Arranging all the shelves and trying to get my backstock added so I can see how much of everything I have.

Didn't have time to read older entries before I made a few comments. So here goes: TheOtherMe -- I was so happy for you when I heard that the borders were going to open next month. Knew that you would be already packed. debthaven -- Glad that you have your family with you. Enjoy the baby cuddles and the hugs with E. And the visit with the adults. Sharon -- Grief happens to all of us at unexpected times. My DDad has been gone for 17 years but I can't past a certain place without thinking of him as it was the only local place I could get one of his favorite treats. Our good memories of our deceased family members will keep them alive in our hearts. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- Don't forget to breathe this week. Only a few more days of prep to go. finnime -- You are on a roll. I know that I donated hundreds of books after my DH's passing. He was in a specialized field and I knew that I would never read those volumns. I continue to go through my books and donate a few every year. I now only buy reference books for my hobby or kindle books. And I rarely buy those now as well. startsmart -- Get the washer/dryer asap. It would make your life much easier and you can throw in a load or two during work breaks. Also doing a little at a time makes the chore less overwhelming. Glad that you are making progress on the pantry. Also getting the info you requested into words so I will let you know once I have it for you. Now I am past due for lunch so will check in later.

The bike rack fits on DS1's van, so they'll take it when they back in August. I'll probably put it in the basement with the rest of their Stuff after they leave on Friday. (No worries, we're meeting up again in August for a week, and then they come back here for another week!) I have my schedule for next semester ... I'm doing 10% less than last fall, which is what I wanted. (Spring semester is another story ... I'm missing a LOT of hours!!! I think something will come up, so I've decided not to worry.)

Have been meaning to ask you laterbloomer ... did you finish everything you wanted to do in the house? And Knee Deep in Water Chloe , when I read your list, I wondered what the heck you planned to do with those TV Wives LOL!!! (Then I got it!) You're nearly there (for DD's wedding)!

The gameplan is to go through both boys' dressers and closets tomorrow to do the "does this still fit" test before school starts back up next month. That should get my 100 item summer goal going strong lol.

Dropped off another bag of miscellany at the thrift shop yesterday. It donates some profits to the lupus foundation. Gone are a wooden carved mask, two blankets, a raincoat and some shoes DS left behind years ago.
28/100
Of course, I picked up at the thrift shop a set of four place settings of very pretty glass dishes and bowls, and a cake cover that I can use for large cakes I sell. Have an order for Sunday morning that includes such a (carrot) cake, almond bars, marble brownies and 30 cupcakes in 6 combinations of cake and frostings.

We’re getting there. A few tasks happened other than what’s on yesterday’s list—hexagon movement and the clearing of the dining room table. I’ll explain hexagon movement after the weekend because it’s a funny story that we will use foe the rest of our lives to laugh at my beloved child. The dining room table had been turned into a craft table for the last month. It’s back to it’s normal self now. Here’s my baby’s dress.

Hi Kids! We're still hustling here to get all of the essential work done on DD's place before she moves in. Of course, we're also working to get her stuff packed. We're also personally delivering the stuff that we'd be mad if the movers damaged. It'll get done. Things are just in "crazy" mode at this point.

Got the plumber over this morning to run through projects for the first floor. I need to decide the height I’m going to install my half bath sink and cabinet so he can rough in the new faucets (wall mounted!) but otherwise I’m just waiting for availability to get these projects done.
Still waiting on the electrician referral.

debthaven the only thing left on my big ticket list is to put vinyl flooring in. I'm waiting for reno prices to come down. Right now my extra energy has been going into camping. And learning lots of new keto recipes. In the fall we are getting siding put on the shed.

Those are nice looking lists, Knee Deep in Water Chloe! And what a beautiful dress. Happy Friday Eve, everyone, as we call it at our house. I did a few unpleasant chores yesterday: ~Cleaned the "sludge" from 4 drains using the boiling water, baking soda, vinegar technique ~Cleaned the kitchen floor before I put the recently laundered mats back in place ~Swiffered the living room floor, and while doing so, discovered the area under the recliners and area rug really, REALLY need attention. Told DH we will address that this weekend. ~Soaked and cleaned DH's fridge drawer. There are no words.... Re: the purge challenge, some reading material tossed, two clothing items went into the Goodwill bag, and one item went into the trash. 7/100

The house is finally feeling a bit more “done” as I keep working on organizing and cleaning up. The kitchen counters are SO CLEAN now that I have space in the cabinets for my jars and pans. I’ll do a big overhaul sometime this winter but for now it’s great.
The laundry room has my new pantry and it is also getting better daily. I’ve got to scrub the utility sink out there, paint some patches on the wall and keep installing the subfloor but that’s just a normal week around here.
