Didn't hear from niece-in-law. Guessing I will be keeping the package for an indefinite amount of time. Heard from her right after I posted this. Took out a bunch of stuff and the important underwear is on it's way to Toronto.

I got my bike tuned up over the weekend so I will be ready for better days! I haven't had a bike for years but inherited K's. Looking forward to biking in a week or so.

Sharon, so sorry for your loss I have my in-laws taxes done, called the 401K holder and confirmed there was no RMD last year. There was a letter in the paperwork that read as though their had already been a distribution, but it was very confusing. I think the jist of it was, you may have already received a distribution, If you requested a distribution we cancelled it etc etc. I thought it was saying they had received a distribution last year. My Mother-in-law seemed to be telling me that my husband was supposed to request a $10,000 distribution and he did not do it. Now I think he did do it, but they wanted confirmation if you really wanted to take the RMD even though the government said you did not have to. She is selling her rental property to my DS I think in the next month or two. I told her to just borrow some money from DH and pay it back after the rental sells. I did tell the investment company to send out the paperwork for her to do a withdrawal. They are still invested pretty much in equities, so they made good money on the smallish amount they still have in their 401K. I did not file their taxes yet, but it is ready to go. I just wanted to confirm the bank account info with DH before I did it. He has the Vestibule or interior air lock being installed right now in his office. He said it looks really nice. The crew that is installing the tile is also there cleaning up the tile. Once DH is done working on his office - we purchased a new built in microwave at Lowes last weekend in the scratch and dent aisle. It said it was a special order return. It is a GE Profile Stainless Steel model. My house is a mess, and I need to do my own Swedish death cleaning. I did purge my closet a month or two ago, but I happen to like to buy new stuff. I have foot problems and I have some very nice shoes that have heels too high for my comfort, I need to let them go and just make space for the new ones I am purchasing. DS told me to get rid of a good amount of my dishes and just wash dishes more often. I would like to purge some stuff but I think my DH would object (He is the cook). If it was just me, I would have a lot less kitchen appliances and cooling stuff.

I managed to clear all the boxes and bags of paper out of my office over the weekend. the only box still left contains lesser used kitchen appliances that will end up in the sideboard that isn't here yet. I can live with that 🙃
I've got a whole bunch of frames in various sizes. when I would come across a sale, I would buy a few. 🤷♀️. I'm debating listing them on a yard sale site. I don't think I paid full price for any of them.

Have 95% of the cleaning for the cleaners done and my personal Amazon Warehouse is all put away in places where they belong.
The other 5% is stuff I can't put away until the day of cleaning because I use it every day.

I finally finished the box for my trash cans today and I’m so glad it’s done! I will level out a section of the space behind my fence for the box to sit and try to secure it in place with rocks. The trash collection picks up along the alley so the box will largely be out of the way.
Next is building the raised garden beds with the wood I have on hand. I do need to get more lumber, screws and then dirt. I did find a place that can deliver up to 15 cubic yards of dirt and I got the pricing so I can budget for it.
I’ve started taking pictures of the yard so I can compare my progress week to week.

Great progress startsmart ! When does the sideboard arrive chiver78 ? I'm just plodding along with work/kitchen/laundry. DS1 leaves tomorrow. It is always such a great joy to have him here. Their grandfather (my ex FIL) is doing a wee bit better. He goes home on Friday to 24h care. Two weeks ago he was driving himself to work 5 days/week. At 92. (My ex, 64, only works 4 days/week now. As do I.) This has been a VERY difficult week for DH ... 5 medical appts in 7 days!!! Ridiculous!!! At least 2 could have been postponed, but DH refused. DH wants to ride his bicycle. But it's a HUGE struggle for him, and it takes hours. Doing that once or even twice a week is one thing ... but five times?! NOT feasible. So (per my request) DS1 turned into a whiny 34YO who begged DH to take the car tomorrow, so DH could drive DS1 into Paris. I'm working on getting DH to take his motorcycle on Friday. (I'll go with him if it's not raining.) I want to keep DH in one piece till Sunday when he gets his vaccine. (Yet another trip, but since I'm going, I can insist on taking the car.) My DH be crazy. Usually I just humor him but with 5 medical appts in 7 days, this week has been incredibly stressful.

Still not doing a whole lot around here but I did finally make the arrangements to have the moss cleaned off my roof and the roof treated. Yesterday was a beautiful day so I went for a little walk and then pulled a few weeds, and I mean very few weeds.

It's really beautiful here this week (and of course will rain tomorrow!) so I've been able to get out a lot more. The title for my new car finally came in 6 weeks after buying it so I need to get that transferred at the county offices.
I got a piece of glass replaced in my china cabinet (my mistakes as I gave them the wrong measurements the first time but a $4 fix) and arranged for their repairman to come out and fix 2 window panes in my laundry room. The glass itself is only $20 and they'll combine it with another service call so I don't have to pay as much for labor. This is one window that I don't want to replace with an upgraded version so it'll be good to have that done before I move in a washer or dryer.
There's an auction coming up on Monday which has a lot of items I'd like to get. Solid wood end tables for the bedrooms, a birdbath, baskets for the garden, a quilt rack, washer and dryer... fingers crossed I can get some good deals!
The weekend list if slowly coming together as I need to get to work on the laundry room floor, start building the garden beds and test some paint samples on the garage.

Done with my work week. My ploy worked, DH drove DS1 in today. I caught up on a lot of laundry. No marking this weekend! Will go see A on Sat, and accompany DH for his vaccine on Sun (it was confirmed, which is a HUGE weight lifted!) Fingers crossed that you get everything you want startsmart ! Which reminds me, DS1 said although he wants our old DR table, he doesn't want the 4 chairs. So I will try to get rid of them. Tomorrow is DH's 4th medical appt this week. If it's nice out we'll take the motorcycle. But I'm not thrilled about waiting outside for 1-2h. Even if DH takes his bicycle tomorrow, that will be 3 trips this week (instead of his usual 1 or 2), but NOT 4 or 5! Mission accomplished!!! (The 5th appt is DH's vaccine on Sunday. I'm going too, so we're taking the car.)

Hi Kids! Contractor has been here the last couple of days, and hopes to finish up tomorrow. There is more work to be done on the house, but we need warmer weather to do it, so I'd be surprised, after tomorrow, if I see him again before June. Hang in there, debthaven! We finally have the warmer weather we've needed to potty train our puppy. He's doing a bit better, but still making plenty of mistakes. It doesn't help when he keeps seeing a stranger or two, coming in the house though the garage from time to time (the contractor and his assistant). He barks to let me know someone has entered the house, which is probably a good thing.

I have been working on my garden plan for... 3 hours lol. Lots of planning to make sure I have enough room for everything I want to plant and also don't build more boxes than I need this first year.
I think I can get away with 6 vegetable/herb boxes and 6 flower boxes. It'll also help so I don't use all 100 seeds when I only have space to plant 20 of them this year. My seeds spreadsheet is getting more complex but I can see the 10 types of seeds I need to start indoors this month and so that's progress!
Also super happy that I got my gas bill after running my 2 gas heaters for 2 weeks constantly and that bill was only $50. Definitely worth the expense!

my mom came down today for a pup fix for her. ❤🐾 while she was here, we walked around inside and out to talk about projects of various size, to tackle starting this spring. paint, landscaping, outdoor shower (1st priority!), etc. I've started a punch list of all the little stuff like incomplete baseboards in a room, carpeting needing re-stretching (if I even keep it) in all of the bedrooms, etc. I'll get there, eventually. 🙃
in actual decluttering, I put up a gallery of items in a "buy nothing" FB group. these were things that Malarky had passed on last fall, but I haven't actually found a place to bring them locally. I gifted a pair of boombox stereos tonight, and will be handing off a bunch of various baking pans and some plastic drinkware tomorrow. there is light at the end of this tunnel!

Well I got rid of some more of Mom's jewelry --- I swear I am not sure where she believed she would be wearing all the baubles....I just can't even. The mind boggles with all the literal garbage looking stuff that she picked up. I think here eyes were going. It doesn't matter if it was made out of precious metals and stones if it still looks gaudy and junky. The reason besides me attempting to get just a bit more gone? My brother is now back working but didn't have enough to cover all the rent. So most of the money went to him.

I get to meet my grand nephew for the first time tomorrow! Other than that, on the list is laundry and finish taxes. And I'd like to deep clean our master bathroom. We'll see.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

I was going to do the upside down dancing bananas but not sure it will show up. I bet I'll know exactly when you see him in person. That will be that hug light in the sky from the smile/grin on your face!!

LOVE the red car bean29 ! Remember I don't have a commute these days which frees up time (although that will change again in 2 weeks). And the bunny doesn't need walking. ;-) Iggy aka IG , enjoy the baby! Very glad this crazy week is over! Four of 6 appts for DH done! Seeing A on Sat, then Sun we get up early for DH's vaccination. No marking this weekend.

Sharon - I'm sorry to read about your dad's passing. It is difficult to lose someone and it sounds like you had additional challenges. It is nice you had family to help you through the process. Debthaven and others -- I'm really happy to read you have the vaccination. I am still waiting for my state to move to Phase 1b -- even then I don't know how quickly I'll be able to get it.
I have not posted in awhile but it is great to see the progress everyone has made this year. I started reading articles about minimalism and tried to focus on minimizing my work life. By that, I mean focusing on wrapping up projects outside of my job responsibilities and not taking on extra work that is not meaningful to me. With that last part, I'm trying to figure out what "extra work" might be meaningful to me. Right now, I'm ready to not work at all! I'm so done with teaching by Zoom -- 7 more weeks to go (technically 6 weeks of zoom teaching since next week I'm giving exams and the university cancelled all classes on Thursday).
Work life minimalism accomplishments - Contract work: have one case study left to write and that will be wrapped up.
- Finished all of my required annual trainings
- Said no to the opportunity to make more $$ by covering the course of a faculty member who is going on maternity leave at the end of this month
- With this mindset, I am going into the office and throwing out old textbooks, papers and files that I won't use again, etc.
Work life to do this for this week: - Finish the final case study
- Answer emails in my inbox
- Complete my annual report and submit it
- Finish writing the exam that I'm giving next week
- Record a lecture and post it to my class page
Personal life minimalism / to do list
Along with my work life minimalism, I'm also tackling my home. Accomplishments - Donated clothes to Good Will
- Given away food, old paint, mailers, unused kitchen items and other items to members of my "Buy Nothing" group
- Had materials from redoing our bathroom ceiling taken to the local refuse center
- Finished the painting project for the downstairs bathroom
- Organized my linen closet
I hope everyone has a good week!

Glad to see you paynointerest ! Happy that you're doing so well with work and home! Did you finish the guest room? (Although obviously it's not the ideal time to have guests these days). DH was vaccinated this morning! We may have gotten EggMcMuffins to on the way home to celebrate. Laundry caught up, dishwasher running. No marking this week (but TONS next weekend).

The weather isn't looking good for putting out the recycling tomorrow. Supposed to be very, very windy.

fridge got decluttered today, that's about it. I found some stuff in the back that was past date. not moldy or anything, but a couple weeks past. a day or so, meh. weeks? no.
