Makeup, skin, and hair -- the good, the bad, the ugly

Some med is making me lose hair again. Statins did. It's either the generic cymbalta or the med I'm taking for toenail fungus, I have one more month of it. Taking for 3 months.

I'm watching the Georgia race, interesting to watch.  I'm hopeful for dems but just don't know if they can do it. If they can moscow mitch will finally be gone. I swear he is more destructive then trump.

I just caved and placed another Ulta order.  lol  I'm too hooked!

I got the alabaster concealer.  I'll report back how it works for me.  I also got a new eye liner pencil.  I like the one I have because it's nice and soft.  I don't like it when I have to sharpen it because it breaks apart too easily and I lost what I just cleared off with the sharpener.  I don't have a problem with my eyebrow pencil, so I don't think it's the sharpener. 

I also got a couple of the facial cloths.  I'm tired of getting make up all over my "good" wash cloths and I don't want to spend money on something to use every day.  The facial cloths sound like they'll work:  just wet them down and wipe over your face.

I also got one of those facial roller things.  I'm trying it on my bags under my eyes.  Let's see how it works,

I’ve ordered from B&BW, philosophy and Ulta in the past couple weeks and everything arrived Tues or Fri    I feel so girly!  I’m glad I got a mixed colors palette; the vivid pinks are things I never would have bought on my own but they look surprisingly good on!  Also playing with a silver metallic liner for lower lash line.  And oped is right, or at least her daughter is; I don’t have any lip colors that don’t clash.  Possibly because literally all my lip stuff is from free gifts...

buystoys how did the alabaster concealer work out?  My undereye bags are clashing with my spiffy new eye shadows 

Request permission to pitch the Kiehls creme de corps?  It’s yellow.  Like, even after you smear it on and rub it in, visibly yellow. It’s a little freaky.

NYX makes a really good one. It's called the epic ink pen. You should try it.

Thanks--i will when this one is used up. This is one my husband grabbed for me at the store a little while back. They were out of exactly what I  told him to get, but it was a good choice--especially for a guy who doesn't know the first thing about  makeup!

It works great.

I use liquid eyeliner also, Lancome Artliner. My eyes seem to be super sensitive and Lancome is all I seem to be able to use.

I’m low on the skin care products I use. I went to order them, and 2 of them apparently aren’t made anymore. Good grief! It took me forever to find what I like, and after just 2 or 3 years, I have to start over.

One of them is a moisturizer by Herbivore. I love it. It’s no longer on Sephora’s website or Herbivore’s. The other is a foaming cleanser by Olehenrickson. I see they have a new one, but I can’t find the one I’ve been using. I’m bummed about both, but especially the moisturizer. It was expensive (to me), but amazing. 

I already had to find something else a couple months ago to replace a hair product I’ve been using. What’s up with these companies discontinuing products lately?!

After a little more research I found that the company went out of business. I am so bummed about that...and, yes, in general what is with the discontinued products? That used to happen to me with lipstick all the time. I find a color I like and then can't find it again. I miss lipstick. Mainly just been wearing chapstick right now because what is the point of lipstick behind a mask. Oh, well...someday I will wear it again.

I agree. I run into that all the time with hair products. You can look on eBay for recently discontinued items, but obviously, you don't want to get anything that is getting too old.

I can do another eyeshadow zoom call if you need. I'm off on Monday. I've been doing an lot with my eyes since the whole mask thing started.

Based on recommendations here, I grabbed a little Elf palette on Ulta and I really like the colors and texture.  It's super soft and smooth, doesn't gather in creases and I can get various depths of color.  Plus its's very inexpensive.

I hate it when they discontinue things!  B&BW especially drives me nuts.  I placed a couple of orders trying to find a good replacement for rainkissed leaves, decided I liked lily and green tea a lot, went to stock up...it’d disappeared from the website already    I did score a couple tubes of the mysteriously reappeared body butter in the semi-annual.  Actually, I also loved the violet and freesia hand soap and successfully stocked up on that...they changed the formula and added a weird really heavy note to what had been a delightfully light floral.  

...I need to give up on those guys.

@donethat which palette?  we need details!

Good question.  My shampoo has been discontinued and it’s one of the ones that does not drive my scalp psoriasis nuts.  I stocked up, I have about 3 liters left and 2 smaller bottles.  I’m probably good for a couple years.  

Every time I buy face wash and moisturizer, I hold my breath that I’m still good.  So far, so good.

Merle Norman is doing that discontinuing products. I found another lipstick that's good. I went to Elf for blush and Maybelline for my brow pencil. MN got to the point the brow pencil was so thin it would snap

Luckily I found they have a good replacement makeup base or I would have been looking for another. I have to be careful what I use on my face.

Elf is a really good brand. I don't think I've ever had a bad product from them.

If you want to try Elf shadows or eyeshadow in general, these are a good place to start. They're really good and they're affordable.

OMG I know right?! I almost gagged after using the first one.

These are even better than Truly. I like that what I got has multiple sizes. It helps when I get them in weird spots like the bottom of my chin. I can pull out a big one and get the coverage I need and it stays put.

Will definitely buy more!
