I have a few The Ordinary serums--the hyrolaunic acid and the ascorbic acid. My younger daughter was the one who told me about them. I definitely prefer the price. I'm a pessimistic person, so I have no idea if those or anything else are actually working. Dermatologist told me that the one and only topical that has been proven to work on wrinkles is Rentin A. It requires an RX, but is available generic and cheap. With rosacea, it also tears my skin up. He mixes Retin A with Hyrolonic Acid because he said it is a very good moisturizer. I don't know either, but I can actually use the Rentin A with the mix and not have red, flaky skin. OOH, Interesting. I had a prescription for Retin A about five years ago. It absolutely kicked my skin's patooty. Just a massive amount flaking--even if I only used it once or twice per week. I did get the OTC Retin A for sensitive skin, and I used that for the last two years. Now I'm onto the ascorbic acid for the 40yo hormonal acne and the dark spots on my pale/redheaded skin and glycolic acid for my eye lids and still salicylic acid for the hormonal acne. We're going to move this summer, so I'll need a new dermatologist anyway. Maybe I'll revisit the Retin A conversation.

You can get Adapalene OTC now, and that has the retinoid ingredient that is so effective.

I need to get to ulta today and find a heavier moisturizer for winter. My olay serum is not cutting it.

I bought Neutrogena hydro boost for winter Ponds wasn't cutting it.
The hydro boost isn't thicker though it's a gel. It seems to coat my face and soak in better. Im having less issues with itchy winter face using it.

It's my wonder drug, been on it for over a decade. My acne would take over without it. And it was painful, ugh. As far as skin care, I love K-beauty/J-beauty. CosRx snail mucin essence and the snail moisturizer are my favorites. I also really like Peach Slices citrus honey aqua glow moisturizer, belief aqua bomb, belief bergamot toner, Tatcha cleanser, and SK-II face clearing toner (I use my work award points to get that one).

I need to get to ulta today and find a heavier moisturizer for winter. My olay serum is not cutting it. When my favorite Moisturizer went away, I tried Belief’s Aqua Bomb. It’s not heavy, it’s more like a gel than a cream, and it works very well for me. Without a consistent skincare routine that my skin likes, and a good moisturizer, I even get flakes in my eyebrows. I bought some pricey moisturizing serum that I don’t remember the name of toward the end of last winter, just to be doing something. I only used it a few times because I thought it was the cause of the milia or whatever it really was I suddenly got on my forehead. But it wasn’t the cause, because it happened a few more times long after I stopped using that product. Now I keep forgetting I have it to use, I’m still not sure exactly what caused it, but it wasn’t the Belief product either.

The dermatologist said they don't know why some people get them and others dont. I had 1 appointment where they burned them off. I would have needed a few more to make a real difference but it was pretty rough on me. I think I just get overly sensitive around my eyes and decided it wasn't worth more of that. The other option was some laser treatment, but cost over $2500 which was a hard no for me.

I have those white bumps too, mostly around my eyes, but I never knew what they were called. Learned something new today - milia. Google says they usually go away in a few weeks though - mine never do. I use a sterlized needle to pick the larger ones off because the way they look bothers me. Apparently this is called deroofing and can cause scaring but I haven't had that issue. I make sure I cover the spot with vitamin E oil for a few days afterwards and am not prone to scaring anyway. It says to exfoliate to prevent them but I'm not sure how I can do that around my eyes. Unfortunately, I just noticed DD9 has her first one. I can't remember not having them

I have two new favorite mascaras. Wander Beauty Unlashed and e.l.f. Big Mood. Holy volume! The Wander Beauty mascara is $26 but I really frigging love it. Got it in an Allure Beauty Box a while ago and I loved it enough to buy. Now it's my go to. The e.l.f. was a very pleasant surprise.

It's in my reserve drawer. I have so many mascaras open I'm not opening any more until I've used some of them up. The KVD Go Big Or Go Home is a good one too. The Uoma Drama Bomb is my fave.

I also have very pale skin and rosacea so didn't think I would ever be able to use a retinoid. A couple of years ago I told my dermatologist that I was feeling "decidedly hag-like" and that's when she suggested Tretinoin, a prescription strength retinoid. The doctor said I needed to 'train' my skin to get used to it and the process took a couple of months. First step was to use Roq Retinol twice a week, then every other day, and finally every day. After using it every day for about a month, I started on the Tretinoin with the same regime: twice a week, every other day, every day. I use it at night and my skin doesn't flake or get red. Another use for Tretinoin is to treat acne so it also helps to keep my skin clear.

So.... All the talk about The Ordinary got me to try it. This morning was my first use, so I can't say how well it works yet. My skin doesn't feel as rough as it usually does, though. Am I supposed to use the hyaluronic acid all over my face or only on part of it? I got the kit, so I have the wash, the moisturizer and the hyaluronic acid.

The Ordinaryhas lots of products. What set did you get? I do have the haylronic acid serum (how many ways can we spell that?), and I do put that one all over my face. I did mix it with a CereVe daily moisturizer this morning though based on our discussion here. However, I also have The Ordinary ascorbic acid serum, and I only put that on dark spots or pock marks.

I've never used the acid and didn't know whether to use it all over or just on "problem" areas of my face.

My fingernails are a mess. They repeatedly split vertically, even when I keep them cut very short, for the past year +. I have had anemia but take iron when I remember to do so. Any suggestions?

I'm trying to remember to use OPI Nail Envy. The original is in a green box. DH's aunt recommended it. She's using it on her nails as she goes through chemo and radiation for cancer and her oncologist was impressed with how good her nails were.
I need to put it on again. I also find my nails peel and break less when I use gloves to do dishes. I hate them but it does help a lot.

I can definitely tell the difference in my fingernails when I do/do not take my multi-vitamin. I agree that the overall benefits of a multi-vitamin a not what the bottle says they are.

I'm getting my eyeliner tattoo'd tomorrow. I'm a little nervous because I'm a big baby about anything around my eyes, but excited to get it done. I've been wanting to for over 20 years.

Dammit! My kid informed me that various foundations were on sale on the Ulta app. I just bought 5.
