Flynn is now saying he didn’t say what he was caught on tape saying. Also, the person who organized the event is denying it was a QAnon meeting. It was a QAnon meeting.
Apparently you can call someone back to active duty and then court martial them.

If the capitol riot was done by left wing agitators with the intent of making trump look bad, why the opposition to the investigation?

If the capitol riot was done by left wing agitators with the intent of making trump look bad, why the opposition to the investigation? Because it would be discovered Hillary Clinton organized the insurrection and the Republicans want her available for Benghazi hearing #273 and then send her to the gas chamber.

anyone hear about Ben Rhoades book? pretty dark. Saw Rhoades on the TV tubes this AM. The book sounds dark but I can’t say I disagree with him. We did veer towards totalitarianism. And we’re not out of the woods yet- Trump is saying he’ll be president again in August. Only if he’s a dictator. Apparently he’s freaking out over all his legal expenses from the various lawsuits. He was counting on winning a second term and being able to keep the DOJ firmly in his pocket. This is very dangerous for us; he may conclude a coup is his best chance to stay solvent and out of jail.

The attempt would be interesting. It won’t work, but how much death and disruption would it cause if he tried? How much additional damage to our democracy? Thomas Jefferson: ... And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it’s motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20. years without such a rebellion. The people can not be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independant 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. ... link

Article below mentions Trump back in office this August. Flynn’s Coup Talk Is a Warning About the MAGA Violence Ahead“It Can’t Happen Here” is a dystopian novel about the rise of an American dictator that Sinclair Lewis wrote in 1935. “It Should Happen Here,” is an even more dystopian idea, authored by Mike Flynn in 2021, and it’s non-fiction. In case you missed it, when asked this weekend why American can’t have a Myanmar-esque coup (after a democratic election didn’t go their way, the military seized control and declared a state of emergency), Flynn responded, “No reason. I mean, it should happen here.” This is a former general and national security advisor endorsing a military coup to overthrow a democratic election, depose Joe Biden, and install Donald Trump as president. Insanely, Flynn did so at a Memorial Day weekend event full of Qanon conspiracy theorists, while speaking under a logo with one of that movement’s slogans on it. (Yes, Flynn later reversed his comments on a social media platform that I have never heard of, but it’s clear what he said in the first place, and he’s been not so subtly signalling his Q sympathies for years now.) This rhetoric is dangerous, and even more so coming on the heels of the GOP’s refusal to support a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection. It’s highly unlikely that Flynn meant to invoke Lewis, the famed socialist and muck-raking journalist, with his response. Nevertheless, his line does evoke similarities with the novel. Buzz Windrip, the populist demagogue turned dictator, is the character most obviously comparable to Trump. Lewis describes him as “a Professional Common Man” who was “vulgar, almost illiterate,” and “a public liar easily detected.” Sound familiar? The comparison is both obvious and unoriginal. As the New York Times noted just before his inauguration, “Like Trump, Windrip sells himself as the champion of ‘Forgotten Men,’ determined to bring dignity and prosperity back to America’s white working class. Windrip loves big, passionate rallies and rails against the ‘lies’ of the mainstream press. His supporters embrace this message, lashing out against the ‘highbrow intellectuality’ of editors and professors and policy elites.” At one point, Windrip says “The way to stop crime is to stop it!” Windrip isn’t perfectly comparable to Trump, but the similarities are clear. Just as we have seen the rise of paramilitary groups like the Proud Boys who Trump told to “stand down and stand by,” Windrip had his own pseudo-Gestapo, ironically called the “Minute Men,” to provide muscle to his movement. If there’s a character resembling Flynn, it would be Herbert Y. Edgeways, the general who rails against “college professors, newspapermen, and notorious authors.” Regarding American power, Edgeways says he’d like to come out and tell the whole world, “Now you boys never mind about the moral side of this. We have power, and power is its own excuse!'” Like Flynn, this admission against interest came in response to a pushy question from an arguably even more right-wing audience member. Considering that it was just one year ago that Trump used the police and National Guard troops against peaceful protesters in Lafayette Park, this boast from General Edgeways stuck out to me: “But now, when the shameless fools and the advocates of Communism try to hold pacifist meetings—why, my friends, in the past five months, since January first, no less than seventy-six such exhibitionistic orgies have been raided by their fellow students, and no less than fifty-nine disloyal Red students have received their just deserts by being beaten up so severely that never again will they raise in this free country the bloodstained banner of anarchism! That, my friends, is news!" Complete article here: link

By the order of the Great Orange one of course. Q folks believe he's still president, the military is currently running things & everyone who is "bad" is either a body double or a clone because they are all in Gitmo or have been executed at Gitmo. Biden is a clone, Hillary is a clone, they're all clones. for shits & giggles I can give you the site where "someone" details all the trials & executions that have happened at Gitmo since the election.

The dangerous/wonderful thing about conspiracy theories is that they do not crumble under logic, they expand to incorporate and dismiss it.
2020 was the perfect storm for radicalization. We need to watch and treat these people as no different than those who were radicalized by ISIS. Just because they are home grown 'Merican radicals doesn't mean they aren't incredibly dangerous.

An upstanding trump supporter and true American patriot. Capitol riot defendant once brutally attacked pregnant girlfriend: ‘I was afraid he was going to kill me’When Ryan Samsel allegedly forced his way into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, giving one officer a concussion, he already had an open warrant on accusations that he broke into a woman’s house to attack her and was on parole for brutally assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. That lengthy history of violence emerged on Wednesday as prosecutors emphatically objected to his request to be released from custody in D.C., where he says he was severely beaten by two guards earlier this year. Although Samsel, 38, says the jailhouse attack left him with serious health concerns, including seizures, federal prosecutors said his record of attacking women — and a failure by law enforcement to hold him accountable — were reason enough to keep him in custody. Police arrested Samsel in Bristol, Pa., in late January after federal investigators alleged he had shoved a Capitol Police officer to the ground on Jan. 6, causing her head to smack into a staircase. That officer was “semiconscious” immediately after the fall, prosecutors said, and later “blacked out and collapsed” from a concussion. According to federal prosecutors, Samsel had a history of violence long before Jan. 6. Samsel has been accused of attacking other people, usually women, at least six times, and he had at least four prior convictions for crimes that sometimes left his victims fearing for their lives. In 2006, Samsel ran a woman off the road and then punched her windshield and threatened to kill her over a $60 dispute. He was convicted of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct in that case. The next year, he allegedly knocked a man’s teeth out. In 2009, he was convicted of choking a woman to the point of unconsciousness and beating her badly enough to chip a tooth. Two years later, he got into a heated argument with his pregnant girlfriend, according to a police report cited by prosecutors. As the fight escalated, Samsel shoved a hot pizza into her face. Then, when they walked home, Samsel poured a beer on her, shoved her into a canal, and then repeatedly held her under the water as she told him she loved him and pleaded for him to stop. “I was afraid he was going to kill me,” the woman later told her sister, according to the police report. Samsel was convicted of simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, unlawful restraint and intimidation of a witness for the attack. Complete article here: link

Not well educated, unemployed or underemployed, likes to assault people, probably has drug or alcohol issues, and furiously angry their life is shit. So easy to convince its all the fault of someone else - Jews, blacks, browns, uppity women, liberals, gays, Asians- everyone has got their boot on his neck (or so he believes) and he’s got nothing to lose by raising hell. This is who Trump is hanging his coup hopes on.

right, because none of this could POSSIBLY be his fault. This reminds me of a truly cringe worthy interview I saw on the local news years ago with this tall, stringy white guy with long greasy hair, teeth in the single digits, black greasy hands to the elbows, shirtless and smoking a cigarette. He was unemployed and the reporter was asking why that was, and he said it was because all the good paying jobs went to blacks and immigrants and it wasn’t worth his while to work a fast food job, because that didn’t pay enough. Yeah, dude, that’s why you don’t have a job. I’m sure he’s a MAGA head now, if he didn’t die in a stupid way.

We always viewed him as a Racist, but we tolerated him. DH and I have a very hard time tolerating him nowadays. My DS practically works two FT jobs. He works on cars on the side for cash. He earns some $$ but I don't think too much makes its way to the family budget. Their yard looks like a junkyard. They have two houses right next door to each other. One is about 140 years old and should be torn down. Everything is so valuable you can't get rid of anything. When my DN graduated from HS 8 or 9 years ago my Mom and I went over and cleaned his Mom's house b/c it was supposed to rain and my DN had invited his friends for a Grad Party. Her house was stuffed to the Gills with everything under the sun, and He was very touchy about even moving it around. How someone with no education, no strong work history, and a good 8 years from Medicare Eligibility can be so against Social Welfare programs is beyond us. I really think it is all about having someone "beneath" them without them having to put any effort into it.

Yeah, dude, that’s why you don’t have a job. I’m sure he’s a MAGA head now, if he didn’t die in a stupid way. Honest to God, this sounds like my BIL. He is a complete MAGA Head. If you can give them someone to feel superior over they won't examine their own lives and turn on you. Hence the vested in interest in making sure all us others remember our place. Can't have people realizing it's actually the super rich white dude keeping them down. Nope it's me with my uppity college degree and thinking I need to be anything other than barefoot and pregnant.
