Actually I believe Kelly thinks the rest of the world is extremely gullible. He comes off like a 3-yo expecting us to believe that a Loser-beanie wearing person would be breaking into the WH? Why would anyone "storm" the residence of the person he admires that much. Your biggest "friend" and idol no less? What an idiot.

GOP downplays Jan. 6 violence: Like a 'normal tourist visit'Republican after Republican on Wednesday repeatedly sought to downplay the violence of the Jan. 6 insurrection, with one Georgia lawmaker likening the mobs overwhelming Capitol Police and vandalizing Capitol offices to a “normal tourist visit.” Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) made the tourist comment, saying that calling what happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6 an insurrection “is a boldfaced lie.” “Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures,” the first-term lawmaker said. “You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from Jan. 6, you’d think it was a normal tourist visit.” Article here: link

I saw where they began the committee investigation into the Dec 6 attacks yesterday and the GOP committee members immediately tried to turn it into a discussion about the protests after George Floyd’s death. They were whining about how everyone wanted to pick on the poor Trump supporters.
For the record, I want to prosecute the terrorists who attacked the capital. I don’t care what their politics are. Attacking our seat of government to try to overturn an election is far worse than breaking a window and stealing something during the Floyd unrest.

You left us': Proud Boys leader Ethan Nordean slams Trump in expletive-laden messageWASHINGTON – Proud Boys leader Ethan Nordean lashed out at President Donald Trump, accusing him of misleading his supporters and then deserting them despite their unwavering loyalty. "We are now and always have been on our own. So glad he was able to pardon a bunch of degenerates as his last move and s--- on us on the way out," Nordean said in an expletive-laden message about the former president. "F--- you trump you left us on [t]he battle field bloody and alone." Nordean is one of several members of the extremist group with ties to white supremacy whose members describe themselves as "Western Chauvinists." He's among the more than 400 people who have been charged for their alleged roles in the deadly assault on the Capitol on Jan. 6. Ethan Nordean, circled in red in this photo the U.S. Department of Justice released from ABC7 News and Eddie Block films, was arrested and charged with conspiracy and other offenses on Feb. 3 for his participation in the U.S. Capitol riot. Nordean is a self-described officer with the Seattle chapter of the Proud Boys. Prosecutors say Nordean, along with other Proud Boys members, planned to push through police barricades and force themselves inside the building that day. Nordean, the self-described "sergeant-at-arms" of the Proud Boys' Seattle chapter is facing several charges, including conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, and aiding and abetting. In a court filing Thursday, prosecutors detailed communications sent through the instant messaging app Telegram that they say show additional evidence that Nordean and other Proud Boys members conspired to breach the Capitol. Prosecutors included the anti-Trump diatribe in which Nordean seemed to acknowledged he and others are facing criminal charges because they followed Trump's lead. "I've followed this guy for 4 years and given everything and lost it all. Yes he woke us up, but he led us to believe some great justice was upon us...and it never happened," Nordean wrote on Jan. 20, after Proud Boys members were charged, "now I've got some of my good friends and myself facing jail time cuz we followed this guys lead and never questioned it." They can stage a fake coup to discredit Trump but they couldn't fix it so Clinton won the election to begin with. All righty then.

I had lunch Tuesday with a former co-worker friend of mine. The conversation eventually turned to the January 6th Capitol Building Open House - 'Welcome Tourists!' event. Turns our Richard Barnett, the tourist from Arkansas sitting at Nancy Pelosi's desk, is the co-worker's cousin. She stated the family stepped away from this guy long before January 6th. He was too bizarre for them.

Another interesting read. Death of QAnon Follower at Capitol Leaves a Wake of Pain. For months, Rosanne Boyland had been worrying her family with bizarre notions she had picked up on the internet: The actor Tom Hanks might be dead, she said. A national furniture chain was trafficking children. Many prominent Democrats were pedophiles. Then, early in January, she texted her older sister that she was heading to Washington with a friend to support President Donald J. Trump and protest what was happening in the country. “I’m going to dc,” she wrote. “I dont know all the deets yet.” Ms. Boyland, 34, was one of five people who never made it home from the Jan. 6 protest, which erupted in violence when hundreds of people stormed into the Capitol. Her death has left her family grappling to understand how Ms. Boyland, who they say had never voted before 2020, wound up waving a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag amid a crowd of fanatic supporters of the former president before walking up the steps of the Capitol to her death. Their frustration deepened further this week when Republicans in the Senate blocked an effort to establish an independent commission to look into the origins and the handling of the attack on the Capitol. “Why anyone would NOT want to find out what happened, even just to prevent it from happening again, is beyond me,” Ms. Boyland’s older sister, Lonna Cave, said in a text message after the vote. For months before the rally, Ms. Boyland had bombarded her friends and relatives with messages and links to long videos about the fantastical theories she had come to accept as fact. Many of the false claims spilled from QAnon, the pro-Trump conspiracy theory movement that rose in popularity over the course of his presidency and promoted the idea that many Democrats and celebrities are part of a global pedophile ring — a theory that 15 percent of Americans believe, according to one poll this week. Many of its supporters falsely believed that President Biden had stolen the election, and some attended Mr. Trump’s rally on Jan. 6. Ms. Boyland’s sudden fixation so alarmed her family members and friends that some of them asked her to stop talking to them about politics — or just to stop talking altogether. Some of her closest friends believe that Ms. Boyland was a vulnerable target for the conspiracy theorists. After a stint in drug rehabilitation, she had returned to her parents’ home and largely avoided drugs for several years, her family said. But the isolation brought about by the pandemic was making it harder. QAnon filled a void in her life, they said, helping distract her from thoughts of returning to drugs even as it acted as a different kind of hallucinogen. “I was worried that she was trading one addiction for another,” said Blaire Boyland, her younger sister. “It just seemed like, yes, she’s not doing drugs, but she’s very obsessively online, watching all these YouTube videos and going down the rabbit hole.” Complete article here: Death of QAnon Follower at Capitol Leaves a Wake of Pain

I have recommended his book on terrorism many times on this board. he is amazing at pattern recognition, and he doesn't care whether or not anyone agrees with him. he just reports the facts as he sees them. I found his book in a Navy bookstore.

Pape's earlier book is mentioned in the 11th minute.
I disagree that there is no threat from suicide terrorism today. I also disagree that his theory is well studied, though I happen to think it is 100% right. his theory is that it is cultural displacement that leads to terrorism. and that definitely has overlap in the current discussion. in fact, I think Pape's work points to a very frightening future for the US.
