But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again." By whatever path got you here, we welcome you.

If they do, I’ll bet she does one of 2 things. Defy the subpoena, or follow Flynn’s example and plead the 5th.

It appears even Rupert Murdoch is turning in Trump. 'Incitement by silence': Rupert Murdoch's newspapers blister Trump after J6 hearings
Donald Trump has lost the confidence of both of the major newspapers owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. Under the headline, "The President Who Stood Still on Jan. 6," The Wall Street Journal editorial board harshly criticized the former president. "No matter your views of the Jan. 6 special committee, the facts it is laying out in hearings are sobering. The most horrifying to date came Thursday in a hearing on President Trump’s conduct as the riot raged and he sat watching TV, posting inflammatory tweets and refusing to send help," the editorial board wrote. "The committee’s critics are right that it lacks political balance," the newspaper wrote. "Still, the brute facts remain: Mr. Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution, and he had a duty as Commander in Chief to protect the Capitol from a mob attacking it in his name. He refused. He didn’t call the military to send help. He didn’t call Mr. Pence to check on the safety of his loyal VP. Instead he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out." The editorial concluded, "Character is revealed in a crisis, and Mr. Pence passed his Jan. 6 trial. Mr. Trump utterly failed his." Trump was also criticized by the NY Post editorial board under the headline, "Trump's silence on Jan. 6 is damning." "As his followers stormed the Capitol, calling on his vice president to be hanged, President Donald Trump sat in his private dining room, watching TV, doing nothing. For three hours, seven minutes," the editorial board wrote. "There has been much debate over whether Trump’s rally speech on Jan. 6, 2021, constituted “incitement.” That’s somewhat of a red herring. What matters more — and has become crystal clear in recent days — is that Trump didn’t lift a finger to stop the violence that followed," the NY Post wrote. "And he was the only person who could stop what was happening. He was the only one the crowd was listening to. It was incitement by silence." The tabloid concluded he is unfit for office. "His only focus was to find any means — damn the consequences — to block the peaceful transfer of power. There is no other explanation, just as there is no defense, for his refusal to stop the violence," the newspaper wrote. "It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if this is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again." 'Incitement by silence': Rupert Murdoch's newspapers blister Trump after J6 hearingsok, so they are losing the intellectual right. that is actually really good, because THEY are responsible for the MESSAGING. the yabbos and cultists remain, however.

So the Republicans, if they take control of the House, are going to hold hearings attempting to prove that Nancy Pelosi was derelict in her duties to defend the Capitol from a Trump incited insurrection? Anyone else see a problem for the GOP with that? of course. the facts are NOT on their side. Pelosi won't plead the 5th. Nobody will. they will give their full account. and they will hold up well under cross examination. it will be a complete fiasco, no matter who runs the committees. so, this will NEVER happen, imo. wiser council will eventually prevail.

Sorry happyhoix and djAdvocate , I should have been more specific. Dj said: ... i hope Democrats do that (i.e. make a lot of campaign spots) with J6, but i am not sure they understand how to do that. My response was meant to be: I am not sure how they (the Democrats) can effectively use J6 in campaign spots against anyone other than a very select few (Republicans).

i responded to your post, bills. post 2380. Okay, wow, I'm being dense today. You meant the Democrats use it as a talking point. I think Benghazi did have some anti-Hillary impact on low information voters but it seems it was focused primarily on her. Down the line if Trump is the Republican nominee in 2024,I guess you could use J6 against all Republicans because they are on "his team". Not seeing it as an effective tool in 2022 midterms.

I guess I was thinking more generically anti-Republican ads.

Washington Examiner editorial. Trump proven unfit for power againFormer White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s Tuesday testimony ought to ring the death knell for former President Donald Trump’s political career. Trump is unfit to be anywhere near power ever again. Hutchinson’s resume alone should establish her credibility. The 25-year-old had already worked at the highest levels of conservative Republican politics, including in the offices of Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (LA), before becoming a top aide for former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows. In short, Hutchinson was a conservative Trumpist true believer and a tremendously credible one at that. She did not overstate things, did not seem to be seeking attention, and was very precise about how and why she knew what she related and about which testimony was firsthand and which was secondhand but able to be corroborated. What Hutchinson relayed was disturbing. She gave believable accounts of White House awareness that the planned Jan. 6 rally could turn violent. She repeated testimony that Trump not only knew that then-Vice President Mike Pence’s life had been credibly threatened that day but also that he was somewhere between uncaring and actually approving of Pence’s danger. She also told, in detail, that Trump repeatedly insisted that he himself should join his supporters at the Capitol — even after being informed the crowd contained armed elements and that it was breaching the perimeter against an undermanned U.S. Capitol Police force. Also distressing to hear were Hutchinson’s accounts of Trump’s repeated fits of rage, including dining table contents overturned and ketchup dishes thrown violently across the room. The worst by far, though, was that people immediately returning from being with Trump in the presidential vehicle told of the president trying to grab the wheel of the car to force it to be driven to the Capitol and then violently reaching for the neck of Secret Service agent Bobby Engel, who headed the president’s protective detail. Hutchinson’s testimony confirmed a damning portrayal of Trump as unstable, unmoored, and absolutely heedless of his sworn duty to effectuate a peaceful transition of presidential power. Considering the entirety of her testimony, it is unsurprising that Hutchinson said she heard serious discussions of Cabinet members invoking the 25th Amendment that would have at least temporarily evicted Trump from office. Trump is a disgrace. Republicans have far better options to lead the party in 2024. No one should think otherwise, much less support him, ever again. Trump proven unfit for power again

Timeline: How missing Secret Service text messages became a political scandalWashington(CNN)Questions over potential deleted Secret Service text messages surrounding January 6 burst into view earlier this month with a letter from the Department of Homeland Security inspector general, sparking a new investigative thread for the House January 6 committee as well as questions about the role of both the agency and the inspector general himself, Joseph Cuffari. But the issue surrounding the possible loss of text messages dates back more than a year prior, as the Secret Service and the watchdog went back and forth on the loss of data on multiple occasions. As CNN reported on Friday, Cuffari's office knew about the missing texts as early as May 2021, months earlier than previously known. Here's a timeline of how the Secret Service text messages became one of the key questions for the House committee as it prepares for the next phase of its probe into the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. January 16, 2021: Ten days after the insurrection at the Capitol, four House committees send a letter to Homeland Security and other relevant agencies instructing them to preserve records related to January 6. It's still unclear whether the Secret Service received the guidance. A source familiar with the investigation told CNN the Secret Service tried to find it last week but could not. January 25, 2021: The Secret Service "instructed employees on how to preserve content on their phones," sending a reminder to employees that a preplanned data migration would wipe their phones, according to a letter Secret Service sent to the House select committee on July 19, 2022. The internal Secret Service notice made clear that employees were solely responsible for saving records that had to be preserved by law. January 27, 2021: The Microsoft Intune phone migration begins, according to the agency's July 19 letter to the House select committee. February 26, 2021: DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari requests electronic communications from the Secret Service for the first time, according to agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. "DHS OIG requested electronic communications for the first time on Feb. 26, 2021, after the migration was well under way. The Secret Service notified DHS OIG of the loss of certain phones' data, but confirmed to OIG that none of the texts it was seeking had been lost in the migration," Guglielmi said in a July 14, 2022, statement. March 25, 2021: House committee chairs send letters to the White House and numerous federal agencies seeking documents and communications relating to the January 6 attack. Among the agencies to receive a letter is the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service. April 1, 2021: The Intune migration is completed, according to the agency's letter. May 2021: The Secret Service notifies the DHS inspector general of missing text messages related to the phone data migration issue, according to sources. The agency tells Cuffari's office the Secret Service tried to contact a cellular provider to retrieve the texts when they realized they were lost, a source told CNN. Key personnel at the Secret Service erroneously believed the data was backed up and didn't realize it was permanently lost until after the data migration was completed, the source said. June 11, 2021: The DHS inspector general requests text messages "sent or received by 24 Secret Service personnel during the period of December 7, 2020 through January 8, 2021." CNN has previously reported that the heads of Trump's and Pence's security details are among the 24 individuals. The Secret Service responded to the request by submitting a single text message. That message was from former US Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund to former Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Thomas Sullivan requesting assistance on January 6. July 2021: A DHS deputy inspector general tells DHS that the inspector general's office is no longer seeking the text messages from the Secret Service, according to two sources. Fifteen years would have been better but it's a start. None of this getting out early on good behavior seeing that the opposite is why he was convicted in the first place. Jan 6. rioter who carried gun to US Capitol and threatened Nancy Pelosi gets more than 7 years in prisonA federal judge on Monday sentenced Guy Reffitt, who brought a gun to the US Capitol during the January 6, 2021, riot and threatened House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to more than seven years in prison, the longest insurrection-related sentence to date. Reffitt, a recruiter for a right-wing militia known as the Three Percenters, was the first Capitol rioter to go to trial rather than take a plea agreement. "Mr. Reffitt's reluctance to admit early that his behavior is illegal is concerning," District Judge Dabney Friedrich said before handing down the 87-month sentence. "And I want to be very clear ... under no legitimate definition of the term 'patriot' (does) Mr. Reffitt's behavior on and around January 6 fit the term. It is the antithesis of the word." Friedrich added: "The officers at the Capitol are the patriots, as well as those who fought and even died to protect our democracy, our rule of law ... those in the mob are not. Not only are they not patriots, they're a direct threat to our democracy and will be punished as such." Reffitt was convicted by a DC jury in March and convicted earlier this year of five felonies, including transporting and carrying a firearm on Capitol grounds, interfering with Capitol Police and obstructing an official proceeding. He had driven to DC with several firearms, one of which he carried with him on the steps of the Capitol during the early hours of the riot. "I just want to see Pelosi's head hit every f**king stair on the way out. ... And (Republican leader) Mitch McConnell too," Reffitt said, according to a video recording he made of himself on January 6. Jan 6. rioter who carried gun to US Capitol and threatened Nancy Pelosi gets more than 7 years in prisoni would be well pleased if we could put the entire lot of them out of commission for 7 years. by then, Trump will either have freed them all, or he will be done with politics. But we have let the genie out of the bottle. Can we it back in again? IMO, it will neither be easy not quick if we can do it at all.
