Josh Hawley Ruthlessly Mocked With Memes and Jokes Over Video of Him Fleeing Capitol During Riot
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) was mocked with jokes and memes on Twitter over footage of him fleeing during the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot. Thursday’s hearing by the House select committee investigating Jan. 6 showed footage of Hawley, who objected to the 2020 election results in numerous states, running for safety in the Capitol. The footage was taken shortly after an infamous photo showed him raising a fist to pro-Trump protestors at the Capitol that day. Complete article and well deserved mockery here: Josh Hawley Ruthlessly Mocked With Memes and Jokes Over Video of Him Fleeing Capitol During Riot

I thought it was a distracting cheap shot that was unnecessary to include in the presentation. To each their own. Certainly. I would be interested in hearing an opinion of what it added. I thought the presentation was focused well on what the hell Trump was/wasn't doing. Then suddenly, for a brief moment, there was Josh Hawley. I am open to hearing how it makes sense to others that it was included.

There is this I just read: The slow-mo moment that everyone will remember from the latest January 6 committee hearingFor all of the revelations that have come out of the January 6 committee, it may be Hawley's slow-motion run from the Capitol that is the most memorable -- and powerful. He helped rile up the mob but then had to run from it, just like everyone else. Of all the information detailing what the former President did and did not do, what will be remembered as the most powerful is ... Josh Hawley? That is why I consider it unfortunately distracting. Why might they have included it? It took more than a year, but the January 6 committee got its revenge on Sen. Josh Hawley Thursday night. Revenge? That is why I think it was an unnecessary cheap shot.

his refusal to concede, even NOW, is probably the most damning thing. him editing his speeches to eliminate those comments shuts the case for me.

I agree that big picture his refusal to concede and the damage it continues to do is what he deserves to be damned for most.
As far as things from last night's hearing and most damning, I lean towards him watching the events at the Capitol unfold in real time and the timing of the tweet "Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done ...".

But let me ask you this: Has Josh Hawley even once in the last eighteen months denounced the mob as rioters and insurrectionists? Has he even once said they were wrong and should be imprisoned? Has he even once said he was wrong for encouraging and even praising the mob? Has he even once said that Donald Trump was wrong all along, and that the election was fair and secure? Or has he continued to spout the same traitorous bullsh** and try to make a political name for himself among Trump supporters and fund-raise off of them? His actions were deplorable, in every sense of that term. He deserves to be called out for those actions. His duplicitousness deserves to be shown. His "brave" talk in public and the press (where he cannot be attacked) and his private cowardice in running even from those who support what he says deserve to be shown. He is just about the worst type of person to ever hold office, and that should be shown as well. I would not call it revenge for his support of the mob to show the country who and what he is. This commission is all about defending American democracy and the idea of what America should be. This commission is about holding responsible those who wish to corrupt or destroy our system of government and our ideals. Keeping people like Josh Hawley OUT of our government is a very appropriate goal of this commission, so that we do not have to have similar hearings in the future. It is in that sense that I consider his being "featured" as appropriate for this committee to show.

The junior Senator from Missouri is not on my radar. My thought is he wasn't on a lot of people's radar either. Today, because of that brief clip, he is taking up oxygen I wish was being used on discussion of the former president.

I've been frantically reading the WaPo's accounts of the Jan 6 hearings. They are doing some stellar reporting. It is sickening what happened in those 3 hours where the cops were getting their asses kicked and Mike Pence was being hunted.
yes, I know, it's fake news from the lamestream media that is out to get Trump.

I would venture a guess that PLENTY of oxygen will be expended in discussion of the former president.... And yes, Josh Hawley SHOULD be on people's radar. The fact that Missouri's largest newspaper repeatedly calls him "an embarrassment to the state" and that former Senator John Danforth says that campaigning for Hawley is the biggest mistake of his life means that he should be on people's radar. Any knowledge that people have about the man is relevant in determining whether he should represent a state in the Senate. If people had paid more attention to who Donald Trump is prior to 2016 there would be no need for these hearings to exist. Donald Trump would have been kept far away from the presidency, just as people like Hawley should be kept far away from any other position in government.

My answer to that question is why I consider it the most damning.

I would venture another guess that, if there was indeed any attempt to discredit Hawley personally, that a random viewer/voter in eastern Washington wasn't really the intended audience. Personally, I am more concerned that you not vote for the less-objectionable though no more effective CMR in the House. Another fall-in-line-behind-McConnell hack who does little for the country, or even her district from what I read. Tom Foley she ain't.

Stephen Bannon found guilty on both counts. After two days of hearing evidence and witness testimony, the jury reached a unanimous verdict in less than three hours. I bet it was less than three minutes but they stalled to get lunch.

US District Judge Carl Nichols has set Steve Bannon's sentencing for Oct. 21. ... Bannon faces a minimum sentence of 30 days in jail, according to federal law. Wonder what the maximum sentence would be. "Hey Steve, I suggest you testify so you don't find out."
