I went over to Costco to get a beef roast. They only had ones that were 20 pounds. We are having 7 people and making turkey and beef, plus a whole bunch of sides. I think I will cut that roast in 3 and just do 6-7 pounds Thursday and have another 6-7 pounds at Christmas.

Hey question everyone.
I am making a pie that you freeze, and the only pie pan I have is glass. Can I freeze my pie in glass, as long as it is cool when I put it in the freezer?
I could run over to BB&B and buy a metal one, or maybe drive to my mom's house if she has one.

I can't imagine why not, if the glass is marked freezer safe like Pyrex and most Corning products.

I can't imagine why not, if the glass is marked freezer safe like Pyrex and most Corning products. It says: pyrex, no rangetop, no broiler. Not specifically marked freezer safe.

I would think it would be fine to freeze in but you're going to need to make sure it comes up to room temperature before you put it in the oven. Pyrex will shatter if it experiences severe temperature flucuations.

NoMoreDrama is exactly right - modern Pyrex is very sensitive to temp changes which is why I don't have any. As long as you allow it to come to room temp before heating, you are probably good to go.

It is one of those where you bake the crust and then add a filling that needs no further baking. You freeze it and serve it cold. So, I will just make sure I cool the crust completely before freezing.

Pyrex brand now is not borosilicate and shatters more easily. I made kiebasi and sauerkraut in a glass Pyrex dish in the oven . When done put it on top of stove and it violently shattered. My little grandson had just walked into the kitchen and the glass shattered at his eye level. He was fine but I had hysterics. Won’t use glass for cooking anymore In article linked below says borosilicate glass pans available on Amazon Controversy about Corning changing glass formula and price. www.google.com/amp/s/gizmodo.com/the-pyrex-glass-controversy-that-just-wont-die-1833040962/amp

Make sure to freeze it on a flat surface so even if it does shatter, you will still have the frozen pie! It's worth it if the pie is good. lol

Is it something like that?

Brand new recipe found randomly on the internet, so no clue how to will turn out. www.thecandidappetite.com/chai-latte-cream-pie/

Heads up. When you take it out of the freezer, set it down on a folded towel or a hot pad.
Do the same with any glass container from the oven or the freezer.
I'm old and I know stuff.

P.S. I can't believe how much food we are making. Nobody seemed willing to give up any particular dish, and I'm trying to make smaller portions, but somethings are just that size.
Leftovers for the whole weekend!!

I bought pie crusts for some reason last week. frozen, 2pk, in a foil pan. I think I might try my hand at a custard pie later today. I saw a recipe posted, looks pretty easy enough. chilled custard pie with whipped cream and nutmeg is an excellent holiday breakfast.

Empire the P.A. Pumpkin, apple, peanut butter. Your choice. Or even one of each. C'mon down! NomoreDramaQ1015 You're absolutely right. It's part of the same law regarding chocolate cake. If you have chocolate cake, you're required to eat a piece for breakfast.

I went to Wegmans yesterday and bought a small turkey breast for hubs, a piece of salmon topped with crab for me, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, stuffing, and a can of cranberries. I'm also making mac and cheese and a friend is baking us a pie today, so we are set for a feast at home. I'm kind of excited to not have to drive anywhere. I'm going to Zoom with my family. Drink wine out of the good crystal. It'll be a good, relaxing day.

We're making pecan pie and white fruit cakes today. Stuffing, potatoes, gravy turkey and veggies tomorrow. We have a 14 lb turkey for two. And a lovely antipasto/ charcuterie tray for our lunch.
Leftovers with candied yams on Friday or Saturday. Turkey casserole and lots of sandwiches to come. I think I'm a bad Mom. I have no idea what my son in Seattle is doing for Thanksgiving, now that he is not coming home. I better call today.

I followed missrigby and made the stuffing in advance. All the vegetables are prepped too. Got my timetable for oven written down. I’m doing a baked ham and a slow cooker beef roast. It’s just four people in the house but we like to eat all at different times so I want extras to last for days for easy meals. I did do a trial run on no knead rolls last week that turned out really good. I’m going to put that together tonight and leave it to rise for a early morning bake.

We are delivering Thanksgiving dinner to my mil. With local cases going crazy, we changed our plans. I'm so glad we invited her over for steaks on the grill a few weeks ago for her birthday.
I'm not sure whether my brother's family is cooking their own or not. He mentioned they could, but if they don't, we'll also deliver dinner to them.

All of my errands are done and I'm making desserts. The pumpkin roll is cooling. The brownies are in oven. I need to make cupcakes and then desserts are done. MIL is making a pumpkin pie.
And finish cleaning my house. DH gets the liquor store run.

I realized I don't like the pie crusts and only ate the filling, so now I just buy a can of cherry pie filling and eat that.

My DS is oddly very allergic to chicken and turkey but not eggs. So, no traditional Tgiving for us. I'm making fettichini (sp) with shrimp.

We decided to cancel even our small family gathering because it would involve travel from all over the state. Total would have only been 10, but with my dad being 78, with several other factors, we decided to just do nothing.
Fast forward to today (Thanksgiving), I stop by in the morning to talk to my Dad and he’s getting ready to go to his girlfriends house (hr away) to have thanksgiving with her family....here we were trying to protect him and he’s the one who has the higher chance of bringing it home to us. I really think he’s just doesn’t care and would rather catch it and die than “stay safe”
