I just finished watching Hillbilly Elegy on Netflix. Really good movie.
Went for a walk this morning. Seems like most in my neighborhood are staying put for Thanksgiving this year. Doesn't look like many have visitors.
3 friends and I will all be able to isolate for at least 10 days prior to Christmas so we can hang out.

Did take-out caldo de res from our fav taqueria for lunch. This is a place that is much more than a restaurant for us, that has been an integral part of our life for more than 20 years. I suspect that we will take a chance this Christmas Day and join them for breakfast. I'll cook something ahead, perhaps charro beans, to take to that breakfast. The staff prepares food at home and brings it to share with one another and a few fortunate outsiders like us. It's an amazing honor to share these home-cooked foods with incredible women and men.

Try not to feel depressed. This too shall pass. The family that hosts Thanksgiving (Family I hang with due to being friends with a couple relatives.) decided to have a nuclear family TG because one of the family members got it early in the first Covid wave and it wasn't pleasant. Totally understand. So many losses between March and May plus the stress and fear. I wanted to hang with someone as well, but I couldn't get my recovering sick self to pull that off.
Still need to call hosting sister about TG. Did not do Zoom as my target hours were based on when the TG above is usually held and non hosting sis wasn't available due to her work hours. Back to work tomorrow morning. I hope its quiet.

I'm pretty sure I ate my weight in chocolate chip cookies today. I ate my weight in turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, brandied cranberries, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, apple pie, sweet potato pie, fruit salad... And tomorrow I'm gonna do it all over again!

I binge ate too. I ate so much I started falling into a food coma on the drive home. Good thing DH had the wheel.
We had it at the restaurant. Worked so much better than going to Grandma's. We may make this a regular thing.

Soon to be a Thanksgiving season classic like A Christmas Story and Miracle On 34th Street are for Christmas.

Weather outside was gorgeous. Cool (68), sunny, slight breeze. Had a couple over and we dined outside around 2. Completely filling day with the meal and great conversation.
Really missed family, but we are looking forward to next year.

Last night, TD made coffees to go with our pie. Each glass contained a shot of Kailua, a shot of Grand Marnier and a shot tequila. There was just enough for a dribble of coffee.
No wonder I zonked last night!

We had a really good Thanksgiving. Made a delightful two-person feast and called parents and grandparents. Drank wine, snuggled kitties, and finally started season 6 of Schitt's Creek (last month I decided we had to rewatch the entire series before starting the final season).
We put down my 20-year-old cat on Wednesday so I was grateful we did not have to go anywhere yesterday. I had some crying fits, so it wasn't a good peopling day. So thankful I could just stay home with husband and our two young cats and feel my feelings.

No wonder I zonked last night! Woah, was there coffee in those cups or were they big coffee cups? I would be OK with coffee w/ the Grand Marnier, but I do not like coffee at night unless I'm driving. Brandy or a nice mixed drink. (Sounds like he did good. )

Cracker barrel takeout T-day dinner did not disappoint. We bought the 4-6 servings. Fed 4 of us for lunch, 3 of us for dinner, DH and I for lunch and dinner today, so that's 9 servings and still some left. Notice that our girls are not big on leftovers - SMH.
