Well I lost the weight I put on over the weekend back down to 176.
Motivation- I want to be strong and able to do physical activities and not always worry about getting hurt or not being able to do it.
I want to feel good about the way I look again. DH keeps telling me I'm beautiful and sexy, but I was/am having a hard time believing him. I want to be able to slip on lingerie and be happy with the way I look.
I want to live long enough to spoil my grandkids.
I don't want to be a statistic, one of the many obese and overweight people I see everyday.
I want to be able to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim in 6.5 years. (When DS is 10).
That is what is motivating me.

No motivation right now. Which is why the scale's not moving. Weight loss moved the back burner for me lately.

Thanks for everyone's responses on motivation. I just feel like i have been in a funk for the last 10 years when it comes to my weight. I have been between 163-175 since I turned 25, moved 2000 miles away from my family and quit smoking 10 years ago! When I got pregnant 6 years ago, I weighted 163. 2 weeks after my son was born, I was back in my jeans. I'm relatively healthy - only issue is hypothyroidism. BP is always low - 60/90 range. No major family history of anything. I feel like I am just getting by these days. I've always wanted to lose weight, but never felt that it was necessary. It was too hard and I was too lazy! I didn't have that huge push of motivation when I got married, or when I got divorced and started dating, which is when most people would feel most motivated So last night - after I already typed out this long response and then lost it - I typed out my goals for 2012. Here they are: Lose 15-20 pounds - would get me to right around 150. Pay off all MY remaining debt (except joint stuff with ex-husband - approx $3500) Send a ton of stuff to Goodwill Learn to run (which always sounds so silly - everyone can run!) I just want to learn to do it correctly - I think this will help with my weight loss and my sanity too Possibly run a 5K! Have always wanted to do this, but currently couldn't run around my office building! If my raise isn't a good one (at least 10%) find new job ASAP Build personal savings to $2000 (current EF is at $1000) Learn to cook (other than grilled cheese and fajitas) Eat home cooked meals at LEAST 3 nights a week Move in with DBF and make his house our family home (current move date set for March when apartment lease is up) DBF is on board with helping me with all of this stuff. I think these are all attainable. I want to be around for a very long time to watch my son grow and become the wonderful man I know he will be. I want to get married again. I want to have at least one more baby. I want to get rid of all of my baggy, shapeless clothes. I want to be able to run around the soccer field with my son. Sorry for the long post... Hopefully no one minds my rambling too much Good luck to all of us. I sincerely hope that we all have a wonderful, happy and healthy 2012.

MN-Investor: Thanks for your story!! You are a huge inspiration to me. I also love that you waited to see how long it took people to notice, because that is what I have decided to do. I ride to work with my mom, so I told her, but that is it. mizbear: You are grieving, stress does crazy things to our body. Cut yourself some slack, give yourself some time, and just try to make the healthiest decisions you can for right now. Just do what you can. *hugs* acemom: Those are some great goals!! You go girl! rr: A pound loss is a loss. Celebrate the small victories!! TurboThumper 11/16/11 226.5 (10/1/11, 234.0)11/9/11: 230.5 11/16/11: 226.5 My goal for the week was to lose 3 pounds and I lost 4!!! Goodbye 230's!!!!! Goal for next week: 3 pounds I know this is going to be a stretch after having 2 four pound loss weeks in a row, but I know I can do it! My birthday is next Thursday and I was hoping to be under 220 by then. That isn't going to happen, but I'm okay with that. I will get there eventually.

MN-Invester 172¼ lbs 11/17/11 (226 lbs. 4/14/11)
Down ¼ pounds from last week. Not much of a loss, but at least it's a loss.
My DH is on vacation thru Thanksgiving Day weekend. It's harder for me to watch what I eat when he's around, but, with Christmas - and Christmas photos - fast approaching, I'll certainly try!

hey everyone. work got super super busy the last month or six weeks and I did a drive by post in my regional WIRR to update my debt, but I haven't been on here for a while so I wanted to check back in. great topic on motivation! I was doing so well, then hit a plateau the last month. I tried really hard not to beat myself up about it. Gave myself some room to breath. And got back down, and now I'm at 231! Total of 23 lbs lost! I think the last time I checked in was at 235/234. jando - 5/29/2011 - 254 11/17/2011 - 231 I don't know if anyone else in my life has noticed, but I've certainly noticed. I started shopping at "regular" stores. I've probably spent more money at the Gap and Ann Taylor Loft that I should have the past month, but I was so so so so excited to be able to wear some of the XL tops there again that I couldn't help it. (I still need some 1x or 14/16 W tops to accommodate my "girls". Pants are still around 18, or 16 W. I've also started packing away bigger size clothes and confidently wearing some things that had drifted to the back of the closet. Not as disgusted by photos of myself. It's also brought some confidence back to my life. I remember this happening last time. More attention from guys. More confidence to just "go for it". Of course, that was in my early 20s and pre-children. Now that I'm a month and 10 days from 30 and have 5 year old twins, I'm just looking for a suitable partner, and there is someone (or some two) that I have my eye on and feel much more confident about possibly asking for a date. Nothing feels better than that! So motivation: confidence looking good (not perfect, but good. I'll never be perfect and I am SO ok with that!) shopping in non-plus size sections or stores feeling good weighing less on my 30th birthday than I did on my 29th! ;D Someone mentioned setting a goal for a 5k. I've been thinking about that too. I have NEVER been a runner. In fact, I should probably lose a little more before I start to be kind to my knees. But I don't know if it's just the thing to do now, or if its because my generation of friends and family are getting older, but everyone seems to be setting goals for things like 5/10Ks and half or even full marathons. I want to do it to!

Jando - Nice job on the 23 pounds lost! Can't wait to hear about the potential dates I've been told by a few people that the Couch to 5K program is the way to go. I have downloaded the app for my phone (or at least the free version) and have new sneakers. Of course, now my throat is killing me and my right ear hurts bad. So I guess I will put it off till next week to start. It's always something!

acemom - ha, well, we'll see. I have to do a little investigation on the first one and decide to take the plunge on the other. The second guy is apparently pretty shy, so I'm thinking I'll have to be the one to ask him on a date. The first guy I have to see if he's single and what his deal is. He's an acquaintance of a friend.

YAY Turbo!!!! You're on a roll!!! WisTurkey - everything ok? Same to you mizbear... everything ok? to you both Thanks. I'm doing ok, I guess. I started a version of Zoloft a couple of weeks ago. I start therapy on Sat. Got the kids dcp situation figured out for when current dcp is on maternity leave in early 2012. DH's work situation has gotten considerably worse over the last 2 weeks, the house is messy and meal planning got dropped again. And I'm pretty sure I'm PMSing.

I thought word had probably gotten out by now- we buried DGM today. She broke her hip last Tuesday and died Saturday. So things are crazy here.

I am at 199.6 today. I know things are off with the stress and they put me on a temporary anti-anxiety med. Apparently I looked like a zombie on Wednesday (the nurse told the doc I looked and sounded angry and the doc told her I had every right to).

Ugh. Last night was a HORRIBLE night of eating for me. I work 13 hours nights, and a common thing on night shift is to order take out around midnight. Of course, the only thing open that time of night is pizza places. I had 2 slices of garlic/sundried tomato/basil pizza. And half a 20 oz coke. And a bag of pop chips. Oh my, I'm going to gain back all my weight at this rate! I usually bring food to work so I have healthy options instead of being tempted by the crap food we all order, but last night I didn't give myself enough time to pack a lunch. Sigh.

So sorry to hear about your DGM, mizbear - what a shock. I know you'll stay strong during this terribly emotional time, and hope your family doesn't get too bad.

Sigh... Does anyone else have problems with Christmas candy? I've been mostly good, sort of, with sweets. But I bought a bag of mint M&Ms at Target this week and, within three days, they're gone. Guess I won't buy any more of them this year!

I have decided that being sick is awful for a diet. All I have been wanting is comfort food and appetizers!! Mac N cheese, soup in creamy broth, pizza, etc... So I refuse to step on the scale right now - and with Thanksgiving tomorrow, it will only be worse. Yesterday my pants were so tight you could see the individual stitch lines embedded into my skin I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Be thankful that we have all of this food to eat that makes our pants too tight and scales go higher. There are way too many people out there that don't have that problem... Hugs to you all!!!

MN-Investory: I have a problem with candy in general. I try not to buy it. Shoot, just the other night, I had a sweet craving and made myself a grilled peanut butter and chocolate chip sandwich. Yummy, but oh so bad for me!! I just can't keep anything naughty in the house. I am WEAK!!
acemom: I do hope that you get to feeling better. I completely understand the wanting comfort food when sick thing. Sometimes a walk helps me. Even if I feel like crap, it seems if I can get myself moving, even if for only 20 minutes out in the fresh air, it gives my body and mind a jumpstart.
TurboThumper 11/23/11 227.0 (10/1/11, 234.0)
Well, I am back up 0.5 pounds. I have had 2 early birthday dinners bought for me in the last week and I went to Cold Stone with my sister and nieces for ice cream (their first time ever there). Not excuses, just makes sense to me that I am up a little bit. Which is a good thing. Right now my brain is telling me if I do good, the scale does good and vice versa. I know that eventually a plateau will come and even though I did good, the scale won't show it, but for now, I am using it for motivation.
Goal last week: 3 pounds <- Gained 0.5 Goal this week: MAINTAIN!
It is my birthday tomorrow and I have 2 Thanksgiving celebrations to go to, both which involve much good food. So, I will try to be good, but I'm thinking long term and I want to be able to splurge a little bit on my birthday and holidays. But, in hopes of offsetting some of the splurging, I am making an action goal this week too.
Action goal: MOVE for at least 30 minutes a day and write down what I did. It can be anything, cleaning, walking, jumping on the trampoline, just something to get my body moving every day.
I'm also going to challenge myself on the water. 7 glasses is my new goal.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Well- This is where I am.
I figure I will find out by this weekend if BF is a keeper for now or not because he will be finding out that DM is going to be my temporary roomie. DM will be going on a diet with me and a budget so she will have all of her deposits, etc ready when her apartment is ready.
Here is the kicker-
DM is much less mobile than I am and allergic to many of the foods I eat- SO the next 6-8months could be quite challenging. She is allergic to eggs, mushrooms, and all types of seafood and shellfish. She also doesn't tolerate certain foods well due to her chemo and the fact she has had her gall bladder out.
SO- I will be attempting to cook healthy for both of us and get us both to lose weight and ten set her up in her own place on an eating plan.
Tomorrow's T-day dinner has been trimmed down to make my life simple.
Pork roast, cranberry sauce, green beans, brussels sprouts, Stove Top (I want to use it up), and mashed sweet potatoes (using the canned ones up to get rid of them). Mom is buying rolls and dessert from the Amish market.

Hugs mizbear. I'm figuring out how to make homemade stuffing using gluten free, yeast free, sugar free, etc. bread for DH. I have a basic recipe so once we bought the bread I just had to make bread cubes. I'll keep you all posted on how it turns out... Rest of the meal is standard for my family - turkey, jellied cranberry sauce, stuffing (I've got a box of Stove Top too, just in case...), mashed potatoes and a veggie. We bought some pumpkin cupcakes/bars for dessert because I didn't feel like making pie and then getting stuck eating the entire thing... This way there's a limited amount of dessert in the house. And I don't think I'm making gravy either. I think we're just going to use turkey drippings instead. DH can't eat it and I don't want to deal with it so...

Holiday Candy-
Most of the strictly holiday stuff I am not fond of. I give away the majority of te cookies I make.
CHocolate and mint are a problem year round.

Hey all just checking in still at 176-177, but I have been at the gym everyday this week and plan on going on Friday and Saturday as well. I'm hoping that will counteract any overeating that occurs.
