Stores are slowly getting back to normal here. Still no paper goods like TP or a lot of cleaning products but all the dish soap was back in stock, the meat section was full. Not a lot of eggs but not completely bare. Milk was plentiful. I think people are starting to realize they bought enough,
Walmart was dead today which is a good thing. I had to go there because with DH working from home he needs ink ASAP for our printer and I know Walmart carries the cartridges. I can order online if he ends up needing anymore.

My in laws went to one a week ago. They didn't find most of what they wanted. Stock has improved since then in general, I think. It might be better now.

We have pick up scheduled tomorrow morning. The order is quite huge. I am expecting about half of it... I guess we will see.

If you have Amazon Prime, DQ printer ink must be in their essentials categories. My grandma needed some. I usually buy it when I go in once a month or so. I'm not going in anytime soon. I ordered this morning, Tuesday delivery date.
She's 89. As much as I miss visiting, I'm not willing to risk dragging something in to her.

Some of the people in our town are upset to the point of being mean that outsiders are shopping in their stores buying all their stuff. They are also the ones who before this would shop out of town and not in their local stores. I told them at work everyone has a right to shop where they want to and maybe their store doesn't have diapers, toilet paper, food. Everyone has to eat no matter where they get the food from. Where I live this is a problem as all of the full-time RVers and travelers are searching for land to camp on since much of the public land is now closed, including all the parks and campgrounds. They stop here to fuel up and stock up on food. I understand in other towns in similar situations they are now making people have local ID to shop.

I headed out to shop for the first time in over 2 weeks. I wasn't sure if our local Aldi would even be open - after the initial run on supplies that store said it was shutting down for probably 2 weeks.
It was open, and the parking lots was full. I was thrilled to see most things stocked, some limited selection (bread) but still something to buy with limits of 2 here and there. And there was TP and flour!
The big chain grocery store nearby had empty paper products shelves, but most food items.
Spent double my usual weekly amount, but I tried to get at least enough for 2+ weeks, so right on track.

I'd say I got about 2/3... no paper products, no soap, no yeast, no zucchini or broccoli ... I had ordered different kinds of potatoes and bread in case some were out and all were in so I guess we can eat potatoes for awhile and husband will get his share of bread...

This will eventually happen in the US. I bought my case of TP on Amazon after watching an international news report about it running out in Italy.

I'm going to try Aldi's senior hour at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and see what I find. No desperate needs but would like bananas, mayo, coffee creamer, etc. I'm curious as to what they may have, and what the volume is like. The downside of senior hours with less patronage is higher risk of crime in the parking lot.

Someone sent me a message that Aldi has everything, including toilet paper. I've never shopped at Aldi but I'm going to pay them a visit soon. I was supposed to go to the grocery store today but I didn't. It's cold and raining. I'm also tired of going to the grocery store. Since I can't find things I go more often than ever which I'm sure defeats the purpose of trying to stock up and stay home

I usually just bring a hand basket, but I don't usually get much there. You also have to pay for bags to bag your groceries, and bag them yourself. I usually bring my own, but I don't know what their current rules are.

I went to staples and had it delivered in 3 days. So if amazon is out, try staples or office max

I put together my grocery order today, and since they were out of toilet paper, their automated system recommended cooking parchment paper as a substitute. Which I guess explains why I couldn't find wax paper last week.

No minimum order for free shipping from Staples, last I looked. I got an HDMI adapter for my monitor cable from Amazon, though. Meijer wanted $42 for one, only $10 on Amazon. I can be reimbursed from work, but couldn't spend $42 just on principle.

If it's essential, by Amazon's definition they are probably the best bet. I've wanted several things that weren't essential so I ordered from Kohls and Target because I was not waiting for May to get the item. I was happy the printer ink will be delivered to my grandma Tuesday. It shipped today.

I didn't care as I wasn't going elsewhere to get it. They came Saturday. There's still an item or two to be delivered but delivery date has already moved up 2 wks from when I ordered.

My youngest still believes in the Easter bunny and today I did my waster shopping for her basket. We never did much candy so it is mainly summer stuff and small gifts. Everything says April 19th on amazon prime!

They said they were trying to hire 100,000 people.

I realized today that I am hoarding frozen food! Not really, but there wasn't an inch of room left in my freezer.
I reorganized it somewhat and discovered some stuff I didn't remember I had. I put down a couple of things to defrost.

I put down a couple of things to defrost. Mine is starting to fill up, too. I doubled up on fresh vegetable purchases last week to avoid a Costco trip this week. I've been stir-frying them in batches. I'm glad I have the freezer space; apparently deep-freezes are in high demand. Someone on another Board ordered one on-line for delivery April 5. Two days later they changed the delivery date to mid-July.

Has anyone been shopping during senior hours? I'm trying to decide whether it will be worth going at 6am. I wonder if it will be even more crowded than usual. So far our store is reasonably well stocked. My parents hit the Woodman's for senior hours on Tuesday, last week. They found most of the stuff they were looking for but waited 45 minutes in a checkout line. I think they said there were 2 lanes open at first. Eventually they opened up more lanes and that's when they started moving.
DH and I shopped at the same store on Sunday afternoon. Almost no checkout lines. Stuff we were looking for was stocked. They did have a bunch of wipes and even a cart of hand sanitizer, with limits of 1. They were limited other things, like fresh ground beef and fresh chicken. Also frozen rolls and frozen bread. They were once again out of DH's gluten free bread but we did find some at the local health food co-op.

That store may or may not have been staffed enough for the traffic. But we can help things move along more quickly if we bag our own goods if no baggers are available.

I put down a couple of things to defrost. I can't believe how FAST I'm going through my stored food. My food used to last a long time because I went out to eat a lot. Grabbed a falafel here, a shish taouk or souvlaki there, suppers at restaurants, etc. I thought I had a lot of food at home. I don't.
