I'm a target shopper too. The one in my area is WAY less crowded than the grocery store or Walmart. The inventory seems pretty good too. They don't have everything but most of what I need.
I wanted strawberries but they had none. No flour anywhere in this town. I've given up on that one.

Ava - I've been going to target about an hour before closing and it's so much better. Mostly instacart shoppers. Some things are missing and I know I am paying more but the piece of mind is worth it. The Target store in my area doesn't carry any produce or meat. I prefer to do one-stop shopping. If I go to Target I have to visit another store afterwards. I think I'll go to Stop and Shop for now, even I don't like the store and the prices are higher.

I find early or close to closing to be better for avoiding people. Last Friday at Walmart was not great. People weren't following the directional arrows. Long lines at check out. Too many people around the store with no awareness. And people had been stocking up with their stimulus checks as inventory levels were much worse than they had been in the prior two weeks.

I have been getting emails from local restaurants that they are selling groceries.
Looks like subway & panera are also selling their grocery items online. They are priced higher but if you cannot find certain items online, then maybe they are a source.

They serve fabulous sandwiches (when open) so they clearly have quality suppliers.

Add Ruby Tuesday to the list of restaurants selling restaurant supply items, things such as a 10-lb. bag of 7-oz salmon filets or a 50-lb. bag of rice. I'm also a Target fan - what do you expect when you live in the Land of Target ? - so that's my preferred spot for many things. I went there last Friday morning about 9:30am and it wasn't busy at all. The only item really missing from my pandemic list was spray disinfectant and they had 5 bottles, so I bought one. Yay! The nearest Target is 3.6 miles and has a medium amount of grocery items. If I want a large grocery section, I had to drive a whole 4.4 miles. You can't throw a stone in the Twin Cities without hitting a Target.

It's the opposite for me. Target is 12 miles away. There are 3 (4 if you count Walmart) groceries within 2 miles of me.

50 pounds of rice? They couldn't use their to-go containers or ziplock bags to break that into 1 pound increments?
The restaurant around the corner is selling ziplock bags of flour. They use a simple kitchen scale to weigh it.

I took a look at their grocery list and think it is very expensive for what you get. They do use local suppliers, but still charge 2-3x what the local grocery store who supplies these products charge. www.lombardisitalian.com/lombardis-grocery

Picked up my order from Kroger today, made 7 days ago, but there are more open slots now. Still no rice, that is my 4th strike out with rice. I have one more order somewhere else with rice. Also didn't have yeast, eggs, or pork roast. That was 4 items missing, out of 56. They also did 3 substitutions, which were all just brand changes. All in all not bad. I liked being able to approve of the substitutions. I am surprised by the lack of eggs. Wonder if they didn't have the eggs I chose or any eggs. I am not that picky when it comes to eggs.

I've been keeping an eye out for rice but I'm looking for a specific type and brand. I prefer a premixed blend of wild, brown and white rice and it's been out for weeks at my grocery store. Online, I can get a 4 pack for $35+ and a single container for $25+. I don't need 4 containers and I'm not spending that much on a container of rice.
We get expensive eggs and so far they haven't been out of stock. But we're not going thru a lot of eggs right now. Although we ARE making inroads on the hard boiled eggs that the kids dyed for Easter. We've consolidated to 1 carton and are under 10.

Do you have an Aldi nearby? I went there this past weekend and they had everything but tp and clorox wipes. I got rice there too. They have meat but are limiting it to 2 packages of each kind. Canned goods are limit 4 of each kind.

I hit Aldi's again this morning during senior hour and it was virtually empty-maybe 10 people total. They were fully stocked except no cleaning supplies like disinfectant spray or wipes. Had great produce, good supply of all proteins, eggs, milk, TP etc. They are limiting eggs and milk to two per customer. Their supply of German chocolate is really good too . So many of my neighbors think Aldi is "low class" and that makes me laugh because the other night we had grilled Ahi tuna steak, organic grape tomatoes, teeny little new potatoes, and French green beans, all coated in a tasty garlic vinaigrette. Yep, everything was from Aldi. Tonight is grilled lamb loin chops, new potatoes and fresh asparagus, all from Aldi.

Decided to go online yesterday to shop groceries. Basically everything I ordered (and then some since I must have had items in my cart), were delivered within 4 hours. A 16 yr old boy home all day eats ALOT! He went through 24 pizza bagels yesterday alone!

I also feel like lately all I post about is my grocery orders, LOL, but YDS (21) eats 5 FULL meals (proteins, veggies, small amount of carbs) AND snacks every day. Fortunately, he is not opposed to leftovers, so I never have to worry about those going bad, but I also can't count on them. But this kid can eat and I feel like I spend most of my days trying to re-stock.

My neighbor was at the grocery store and found me some flour - yay! She left it outside my door. Last week I came across some Hershey syrup and bought it for her. She is often sitting on her porch when I go out for my walk so I stop and yell at her from the edge of her driveway. We typically know what the other is looking for when it comes to groceries.
I'll bake something this weekend and leave her a goody bag.

My husband offered to being home a 25 pound bag of flour from Costco. I declined. Still looking for something 5 lbs or under.

DS & I donned our masks, and drove over to the nearest Super Target today. I was surprised how cleaned out the baking area was. Hardly any cake mixes, or anything. So are moms making more cakes with the kids being out of school? A few other areas were a bit thin, but most of the store was well stocked. Of course, there were the usual shortages, like TP & paper towels, but most of the grocery area looked fairly normal.

I‘ve been looking at bulk flour buying, about to crack open my last 5 lb bag of bread flour. Can’t quite wrap my head around the 50lb bags though. If I could find a 25lb I’d probably go for it...guess we’ll see what the shopper finds tomorrow. I have a few bags of all purpose or whole wheat and a 2lb bag of Einkorn which I’m excited about trying

At the very start the normal things were missing, TP, PT and stuff. But I am going to say for April everything has been pretty stocked. I was thinking of signing up for a CFA just because I have time now to do the pick up. Some of them run almost year round. We have a fair amount of local farms that have food stands to go with them. The farmers market has been moved to online, so you just order from the vendor before and then go pick it up. I am actually wondering if there does get to be a food shortage in the stores, how that will benefit the local farmers.

I don't know how Aldi does it but last I was there, they had a pallet full of flour and yeast plus plenty of other stuffs esp. baking stuffs. Other grocery stores were just totally cleaned out of those items. Eggs were plentiful too at 99¢!! Now, the only thing I need Aldi to do is to implement self check-out lines. My peeve is that Aldi has mostly 1 check-out line every time I am there and it takes a lot longer to be checked out. I just sent in my feedback about this to Aldi and I hope all of you who shop at Aldi will do the same.
