I went to Publix today after not going for awhile. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Shipt order. If something is BOGO, I have to buy two and that's two of the same thing at that. If I want the cake mix that is on sale, I have to buy two yellows. I cannot buy one yellow and one chocolate. And they listed most of the meat products I wanted as out-of-stock, which they may have been at the time I was making the order. So I armed myself with mask, gloves, and sanitizer.
It was interesting. I got everything I wanted. There was no toilet paper, but I didn't want that. There was almost no lunch meat, but I didn't want that either. Eggs were $2.49 but good until the middle of May.

I joked they were the only store in the state that had toilet paper and he said now they can get the industrial stuff to sell but they can't get any lunch meat. Apparently there's some sort of supply chain issue with it. Of all the weird things... I gave in and bought one of their 25# bags of flour and he also said that's the only way they can get it right now. He said they can't order the 5# bags. Eggs will easily last 3 months in a refrigerator.

@shastasnewlife, I was guessing that lunch meat is in short supply because the kids are home from school. Sandwiches are easy lunches that kids can even make themselves. I also noticed that the Chef-boy-ar-dee had been cleaned out, which I figured was for the same reason.
Spices were back in stock! I scored there.

Kids are home from school here, too. I wonder what the difference is.

What I've heard locally is the stores place their orders and basically get what they get from their warehouses/suppliers and that tends to be a portion of their orders but not all. I know my son said they were told Walmart is no longer getting deliveries of non-food, non-essential items and is going to be blocking off those areas of their stores. His big super Walmart is turning into more of a traditional grocery store until this is over. Part of that is to save on trucking and ensure more food is available rather than items people don't really need right now. My Walmart's website shows that they have plenty of beauty supplies in stock, but they didn't fill any of them in my grocery order this week. I had picked up my order shortly after Senior Hour ended, so I had guessed that the seniors had wiped out all of the Oil of Olay, but it makes more sense if they just aren't filling non food items. Eggs were only 68 cents for a dozen, and the store employee told me I should have gone for the 18 eggs for a dollar deal, but live and learn. I went ahead and ordered the non food stuff on Amazon, so hopefully that will come in soon. Their delivery estimates are further in the future than I had estimated, but I have a few weeks before the hair dye becomes a crisis. I've never dyed my own hair before, so it should be interesting.

I did my first Amazon Pantry order a week or so ago. The estimated delivery was 4/25. I was kinda shocked to see it sitting at the post office today - over two weeks early. So, there's hope for your hair! I ordered a boxed.com order the same day. It arrived yesterday. Everything was as expected. Some of their stuff was more expensive, but other things were cheaper than I can get them locally so I made an order to check out how it went.

I’m hoping some of the hoarding is coming to an end. Just went to the local grocery store (it was very busy by the way and we are under stay at home orders 😞). Anyway, for the first time in three weeks they had plenty of TP on the shelf. No one was loading up their cart, in fact most people didn’t have it in their cart. Since we were down to our last 2 rolls, I grabbed a 12-pack. Based on past usage, that will list us about six weeks (and were a family of 4).

Jesus, we are a family of 4 and I swear that a roll lasts barely over a day. I know because no one else ever fills the empty I don't know what the hell they do with the tp!

I sent baby presents to my nephew and his wife that I ordered on Amazon. Delivery estimates were in 4 different shipments all through the month of April. They received all 4 packages within 3 days of my ordering.
I think they are trying to make us think they are doing a great job rather than being disappointed.

I am working up 2 orders right now, one from Kroger one from Sams. Will order things for our renter family too. I was going to wait till the end of next week but some things aren't in stock. I'm sure they aren't asking for everything they need. But I will get what they ask for. She said they had $220 left. Her grandparents help them or I'm not sure how they would make it. Sad situation, they are paycheck to paycheck people also. But likely would be if he made more. But we can do that.
the assisted living center called today and asked if I could make more masks. She said they have been told the people there need to wear them too. I gave 30 to her for the staff. She said make sure it has her name on it or the staff will take them, she asked for 16. I told her I had 11 done and was working on more. Was going to donate to the hospital but they are welcome to them. She said she didn't know anyone else that sewed.
I ran out of binding and was thinking how to make it. I had forgotten years ago I bought a bias tape maker. It was on the shelf, I had never used it. Got it down, cut the fabric, threaded it and will make them this evening. There was a terrible storm through last night really tore some places in the area done.
I told hubs, the sad part, this country has come to this.
You keep hearing, there are 25 million of this, 200 million of that of PPE and yet noone has them. Just to sad.

I have been working on several orders from different stores for pick up and delivery. It gets a little frustrating, as something will come back in stock for one item, only to have something else in my cart go out of stock. Most of the shipped stuff has a delivery date about 1-2 weeks out and that has been about when it has been arriving. One item even got pushed back further, so I canceled that. I am trying to forecast our needs 2 weeks out.
Grocery items I am having trouble with seem to be related to baking and cooking. 2 of the items missing from my last pick up were brown sugar and salt. I can't seem to find Sherry cooking wine local or shipped that isn't a small fortune.

To be fair... I guess this shortage is prompting conversations. Apparently my BIL did not realize that girls wipe... like every time they use the bathroom...

I think the stimulus and freshly sent UI checks might see the grocery stores struggle for a bit. There's nothing else open where people can spend money and I have a feeling people will stock up on groceries again.

My brother was making binding tape from bedsheets, 96 in long 2.5 in wide, fold in half and iron then fold sides in and iron. His wife sewed mask until she ran out of fabric for the mask part. Their niece is finishing her doctorate to be a nurse practitioner and wanted them for the hospital so SIL and her sister sewed dozens of them. My brother could sew but just did ironing.

I opened my 8 pack on St. Patrick's day - which was 4 weeks ago and I still have 3 left, and the ones on the roll are half full. And we are 2 girls, 2 boys. So, 12 for 6 weeks doesn't seem unreasonable. I do find that different brands and types last longer than others.

Grocery items I am having trouble with seem to be related to baking and cooking. I've been having a problem finding bran flakes- I add them to yogurt to give it texture and extra fiber. It doesn't help that bulk food bins are no longer available in stores due to health hazards but I'm wondering if people are using bran in breads and muffins.

I know it isn't the same thing, but I would actually think the raisins would add something, too. I used to make muffins with raisin bran. I remember the recipe was on the box.

That's a lot more masks then I'm making. I will end up with about 50. Now if there is a real cry for them I will make more.

I did my first pick up order yesterday/today. It ended up being less than $200, I'm sure with all the stuff out of stock. I bet it took 4 hours of my time, between the slow ordering process and many, many texts from the shipper. I definitely appreciate it, but it was still very much a pita. Glad we're pretty well stocked otherwise, and they did have the few things were were out of at home.

Do they still have raisin bran? I know it isn't the same thing, but I would actually think the raisins would add something, too. Too much sugar. I've got a supply of flaked quinoa I bought in Bolivia and also got a bag of wheat germ last time I went grocery shopping. They'll do. I'm headed to Costco tomorrow- first trip there in 2 weeks. Buying 2 weeks' worth of vegetables and stir-frying half worked OK- I over-cooked them and they were a bit soggy but I'll try again with another batch. I also found that adding freshly-stir-fried cabbage and onions, both of which keep longer, add in more crunch.

My cat is having digestion problems so is now on prescription food. I had stocked up on his old food a few weeks ago. I have over $100 worth of unopened food. I tried to return it to petsmart today and they are not doing any returns due to COVID-19. I hope the local humane society will let me donate it. I hate to see it go to waste.
It is going to rain on Saturday, which puts me in a baking mood. I found all the ingredients to make magic cookie bars at target. I was almost dancing in the aisles. It's the little things these days. Strange times...

I've had 16 inch piping bags on order from Amazon since 3/30. I ordered a new thicker yoga mat yesterday, which must be in the essential categories. The bags finally shipped with the yoga mat today.
The vanilla extract shipped just fine. They were cheaper per ounce than even Sam's Club or BJ's.
I understand they are not prepared and struggling to keep up. It's frustrating though when you are advised to stay home and you can't get things online.

Feed feral cats or gift to family with cats, some cat will eat or use for bait for crayfish or crab or shrimp.

I had bought cat food for the strays and have not seen them again, so I'm going to donate it. I have stuffed animals to go to Goodwill, may wait on those.
16 of the masks are done, 7 of them just needed end binding, have 2 more to finish. I may cut and make a few more to pop in the package if I can.
And I got a surprise my 240 shower caps I ordered are being shipped! When those come will drop off at the hospital in town. They weren't supposed to come till the 26th!!!! So yeh!!

I had a flavor that Lucy refused to eat. Humane Society is closed so I donated it to a local organization that has a pet pantry. You can find some where to donate.
