Yes. And you can give a lecture via tv. and documentaries are good stuff. and you can require a kiddo watch it. But that isn't learning necessarily. You can't differentiate the instruction or provide necessary supports... so you can't really require the kiddo do something other than watch it unless you have a process and system in place through which they can ask questions, and get answers and assistance for other skills and core tasks that may be required.
Yes... there are work arounds... and they can and are being used where possible to the extent possible. Those that are struggling with providing instruction under the current circumstance are not stupid or lazy however... not biased or pc..

Most of our kids are going to be fine long term whether they get academic support over the next 2 months or not.
Those kids that need extra supports are the ones who are most at risk of long term consequences from being out of school. Putting a package together that leaves them out compounds that risk.

For sure! We can usually hear some traffic - loud cars, honking, etc. Not constant, but enough to remind us that there are indeed people out and about. Usually I can consistently hear the train horn, but not now. Still cars running up and down the main road where I live. I thought once shelter at home was put into place there would be very few cars. Nope, not here... I went for a drive yesterday. I hadn't used the car in a week and didn't want the battery to die. Didn't actually go anywhere, just drove around. I didn't interact with anyone.

If I don't, I'm going to be a widow a lot sooner than anticipated. He's getting on my last couple of nerves!!!!

We're just as safe in the van as we are in our house and since we used to drive SO MUCH, it's a little bit of normal back in our day.

I wish I'd thought of that this morning when it was raining sideways. I could have put the dogs in the car and let them hang out the window chasing raindrops. but work got nuts and I poured myself an adult beverage while listening to the Governor. not driving anywhere now. hopefully it stops raining, we will go for a nice walk around the neighborhood.

The stupid neighbor behind me is having another party--about 12 people are on his deck.

My neighbors across the street have been having regular get togethers. Sometimes up to 5 cars will be lined up on our side street.
I haven't even met them yet (they moved in last month) and don't have any intentions of introducing myself now. You stay on your side of the street.

I got my mail today as I could see I received something that was junk mail (it was my car insurance). I knew I needed a change of scenery, so I took a drive through our little town of 2000. It's so quiet that it's eerie.
The problem I'm seeing with my limited exposure is that families think that seeing each other is fine--even though they don't live in the same house. I realize grandparents are babysitting, etc., but my nephew visited his parents last weekend because he was lonely from WFH. That happened knowing that his brother who lives here was presumed to have COVID-19 and had visited his parents. The biggest issue for me was that my sister was planning to go to the big city to help with her newborn grandson.
The new parents told her today that their doctor recommended against that.

I decided to take some conference calls outside today. I thought maybe the refresh air and sunlight would do me some good. But, my neighbor started mowing his lawn, leaf blower the whole deal. 😒

Was walking on Wednesday and there's a lot others doing it to. At least 4 times I did the dance of is someone crossing the street or we just going wide with one runner coming around the corner and basically not giving myself a chance.
Finally got my fridge fixed so had to go out and replace everything that was ruined. Of course it was the day after the governor finally issued state wide stay at home. Man do people suck at following the 6 feet rule! I finally had to say fuck it and go "get out as fast as you can" because people would just walk right by me as I was waiting back to get to something.
Other than that was my parents dropped off some supplies that I couldn't find and a desk they fashioned that I can use on my patio for fresh air. We were more arms length at times than 6 feet, but we've also all been following the quarantine rules for over 2 wks.
I'm good food wise for at least 2 wks and could prob go more but would be out of fresh veggies and prob cheese.
Now my only question is still going out for walks. I don't have any type of mask and I live downtown which is densely populated. Add in living near 2 major highways, city hall, a hospital, police and fire headquarters, the local utility, a news station and probably other stuff there's decent road traffic as well so there's plenty of spots I can't easily walk in the street and such.
Ordered more pillowcases in the event I cannibalized one to make some masks.

Shop with one of these extended six feet out as you move about the store. Hold it like a jousting lance.

Carry a 12 foot 2 by 4 balanced on your shoulder that you can use to smack people who get too close.

My neighbor that I posted about before, the 60+ guy with COPD who went out shopping with his wife and then left in his truck on another errand, just had 4 cars/trucks and a U-Haul outside the house this AM. Now that I think of it, their adult kids haven't been clogging the road with their vehicles as often lately- but this time there were several adults and a few small children running in and out. Brilliant. Just brilliant. Do I sound like Gladys Kravitz from "Bewitched" yet? This is what sheltering in place will do to you.

I forgot which COVID thread I posted that I might need a grocery run today (for the pups) but I canned that idea when I pulled into the lot and saw a line outside. they were limiting capacity inside, and I had the pups with me from a trip to the dog park. no way I was waiting in that line with them in the car. I'll go another day if I can't snag a Walmart pickup time.

Luckily, my favorite pet shop is well stocked, and easier to get in and out of than the grocery store or Costco.

Luckily, my favorite pet shop is well stocked, and easier to get in and out of than the grocery store or Costco. I'm good on the kibble that's crunchy filler. but the majority of what I feed my pups is real food. I'm mostly good on proteins, with being able to supplement what I have in the freezer with ground beef from the village market. I found a stash of steamer veggies in the basement freezer, mostly good there as well. but I need rice and canned pumpkin. I'm in a delicate balance of trying to not heavily stock up b/c I need to move, but still needing to feed the pups. I probably should have just stocked all the way up a month ago when I started WFH 100%, but I didn't. my sister uses the Walmart pickup all the time, she said the time slots open up at midnight for the next day on the calendar. I haven't seen midnight in awhile, but maybe I'll set an alarm.

I have to go to the pharmacy today (in a grocery store). Getting a new med for my lupus. My other med I take for it can't be refilled......so switching. The only good thing is that I'm not as bad as some people who have this so I can change and not feel to scared about what it will do to me.

He started having extremely painful hands, had testing done and his rheumatologist said that his testing made it look more like lupus than RA. He was on the drug for a few years and whatever it was went into remission, his blood work normalized and he was able to get off it. The inflammation has not returned in several years so far. It was a wonder drug for him, and waaay cheaper than the biologics. Hope the new drug works for you. Fingers crossed.

I was weaning off the anti depressants and was almost done but I’m calling for a refill. Trapped at home is not the time to stop taking them, even though the dose is very low.

I have two prescriptions to be picked up. I had them called into the Neighborhood Walmart because they have a drive through. They don't have my insurance information, so that will slow us down. Sorry to anyone stuck behind us!

A good friend, now deceased, developed drug-induced Lupus while going through her third bout of chemotherapy. Not sure what meds she took to rid herself of the Lupus.

Louisiana- Large attendance at a Palm Sunday service Brooklyn- large attendance at a funeral for a Rabbi
Two of the worse states for Covid 19 - will this ever end in the US? Seems to have almost disappeared in China although there are some recent reports maybe from people coming back to China?
