Why am I still hearing/seeing people in real life, here, and on FB about running all kinds of errands?! Stay the fuck home folks! Really, it is not that difficult.
My husband was on a ventilator after an emergency surgery at the end of Jan so I am particularly sensitive to this topic. But I cannot help but think what if his bowel hadn't twisted until now in this chaos. Or what if it twists again?
The longer we run around getting ready to hunker down, the more serious this shit will get.
I haven't left the house since 3/13 and was cancelling anything nonessential before that. Today I drove my husband a few miles away to drop off ostomy supplies for an elderly woman who ran out and has been using paper towels for the past 2 days because she was scared to ask for help.
Tomorrow I have to go to my kids school to get all of their stuff including photocopies of work to do. Don't want to go. Reading that the virus can live on paper for several days so whatever I do pick up will live in the garage for a while and I will make up stuff for them to do.
Our state (mo) finally issued a stay in place order starting Sun night.
Dd7 was video chatting with a friend who was eating mcd's. Dd7 wants to know why we are holed up if the rest of her friends aren't. Me too, kid, me too!

This is what i keep thinking too...I posted on another thread that the grocery store less than a mile from me reported over 200 people were waiting for them to open on Friday. I don't see how this is helping the situation. If people would calm the F**k down we would be a lot better off.
My best friend was going to come by today and I was looking forward to it. We were going to bake and chit chat. Both of us have been working from home all week. She texted me this morning that she has a cough. She thinks it is allergies but wanted to let me know. I told her to stay home. I asked if she went anywhere this week and she said only the grocery store. Cases are still small in our area so she is probably okay but I didn't want to chance it. Disappointed though...

exactly this. 👍
I have done a couple necessary grocery runs, a pair of treks up to the abandoned office that I drove all the way in and touched nothing without gloves, and a vet visit Thursday that I'm half convinced is what will kill me via unnecessary possible exposure. 🤬 I am able to take my dogs to open space, and I do that without other contact. other than that, I haven't even started my car since 3/7.
I hope you and your family are still okay, azucena. ⚘

I had to explain to Gwen we would not be going to Justice like her friend today. Honestly not sure why malls are considered essential.
We're sitting at 33 in Nebraska. Only 2 in my county in Iowa. Guess it pays to live in the midwest.
I've been to the grocery store to stock up. Getting to where we can stop that for awhile. We have done take out to support local business.
Only one of us goes to limit exposure.
Otherwise work and home. I cannot work from home and so far our corporation will not shut down. So I either work or lose my job. I can't afford to take a stand on that so if people want to be pissed at me I accept it. Would prefer they write nasty letters to corporate America instead though.

I'm quietly freaking out because I feel like I'm getting sick and keep coughing... Trying to ignore it and keep telling myself that my throat hurting must mean it isn't "the" bug.
I completely agree with people not staying home. Everywhere I went yesterday people were all over the place and not even standing any distance away. Not to mention we are all using the same keypads and pens for debit/CC transactions...

So sorry, lifeparttwo. Take care of yourself.
There are supposedly no cases in my county, except my nurse friend says there are 2 possible (probable? I can't remember the exact word) ones in ICU at the other hospital. The official information is not forthcoming. I would not feel confident with the official reports. This administration prefers ignorance.

I do feel like I need to run into petsmart tomorrow and grab more cat food. He has enough for 30 days but he eats "special" food and I want him to have enough. I worry more about the cat having food than I do myself

I buy in bulk and it is easier for me receiving it at my front door than going from store-to- store stocking up. Especially now.

I agree with Tennesseer. We used to buy specialty dog food for Bad Boy Puppy, and Chewy was very reliable. I'd rather chance the UPS guy having a virus, than 100 people at Petco or PetSmart. JMHO.

Depending on the day you order from them, it is usually two-day service. Right now due to wyat's going on, it might be three day. I'm happy with the service. When one shipment came up short of one 24-can box of cat food, they shipped it to me no charge and no questions.

I don't understand either. We have been at home since last Saturday. There are 300+ cases in our state but our county hasn't been hit yet.
The kids have not gone out at all. DH drove five miles to get pizza yesterday from a local small business. I did grocery pickup today because we needed essentials - ice cream. JK we did need that but mainly fruit, bread, and milk. Copious amounts of hand sanitizer were used both times.
It gives me anxiety to go out. We won't go out again unless we need more food, milk will probably be the first thing to run out. But we can make that last a week or more.

My niece works at Walmart. She posted on Facebook wondering what the hell these people considered essential items to go out and buy. She pretty much assumes she will get it. After months and months of waiting, the pharmacy called to say they finally have our shingles vaccine. So we have an appointment to go in tomorrow to get it. I don't want to get put to the end of the line again. While there I will look for acetaminophen. Pretty sure the governor will shut the state down on Monday. But reading about California, it is amazing how much is considered essential services with people still working.

DH went to the ATM this morning and reported that there were people everywhere. No one in my household had left the house in 8 days, so that was the first window into what things were like. I expected it to be a bit of a ghost town, but he said the grocery store parking lots were 1/3 full, there were crowds in all the parks, and even the nail salon was open. We have to venture out this week for groceries. I haven't been in a store in 2 weeks and am not at all sure what I will find.
My county has 11 cases. All restaurants are take out only and schools are closed, but everything else seems to be open unless closed nationally.

We went to the State Park for a walk today, which is allowed. A lot of other people had the same idea. Did not touch anything and it was easy to stay 6 feet away from everyone else. But still not sure if we will continue to do this.

I had to go to Walgreens to get my Mom some more extra strength tylenol, she recently had hip replacement surgery, this is truly a need. They had boxes marked on the floor with tape leading up to the check stand and each box had an X in it.

Worked from home this week and my wife is still going to work as she's in an essential field. After work she comes home and we go for a run or walk but there's not many people out and we definitely aren't coming in contact or within 6 feet of anyone. When we need food we go to the store, if my mom needs something from the store I get it and we do order from some local places doing take out. Other than than going out for a purpose we're at home. My wife said the big park she drives by on her way to work was full of people this morning. I'm going to continue doing what we're doing until the narrative changes but it almost seems pointless if even 5% of the population isn't listening.

I'm kind of getting cabin fever already. It has rained here for 3 days in a row. I feel like walking outside is the only way I can make it through this. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear, thank goodness.
I am already "over" this social distancing thing but know I have to hang in there since this is just the beginning. I did find some indoor exercise routines on you tube. That seems to help for the days I can't walk outside.

I've noticed lots of online sites have been hit hard and are out of stock. Makes it harder to stay home when you can't get what you need.
My work did not approve 100% telework until Wednesday. The message from our directors was the office is open. They didn't think it was necessary or a big deal. Telework beyond the usual one day was only allowed if you felt you have a medical need.
I've had to go to multiple stores on different days to piece together food.

I am assuming you were looking for your particular brand of cat food and litter? Did you try ordering any other type of food your cat would eat? I don't order cat litter from Chewy-buy it local. It is on my list to buy next time I head out.

Even in the shelter in place states you're encouraged to get out and take walks and get fresh air just keep your distance from other people. It's important for your physical and mental health.

My son finally started to get it. Last night he was on the phone with a friend and they started trying to set up a sleepover. Sorry kid. Today he told another friend that I'm taking this social distancing stuff too far.
Dh's job can't be done from home though and unless they go under he'll be going in. I think we're doing pretty good at keeping to ourselves but it's very eye opening how hard it would be to be truly isolated. I really feel for single people. I love my space and frequently wish I had more of it but i think this would be harder if I didn't have dh and my kids with me. My parents are planning on staying in until there is a vaccine and it's tough. I dropped off groceries for them on Wednesday and we talk on the phone each day but I miss them.

We're not sure when we'll see our 2 kids or our 20 month grandson again. They both live in large metro areas with lots of cases and still go to work. So no visiting for the foreseeable future.

I wasn't talking about going to work if you have to. Although I am appalled at some of what i'm reading about companies reacting so slowly or callously.
I was talking about going to salons for hair and nails, playing at the playgrounds, going to the bookstore, etc. Even the idea of going to home depot to get supplies for home projects (not true needed repairs) is too much.
Make one trip to the grocery store or a couple all in the same day and then just plain old do without whatever you couldn't find. The 14 day window starts over every time we leave the house.

I'm going to the house and work tomorrow afternoon, there's nobody there. I was out, don't talk to people, don't have people in. Hubs brought a pizza home for dinner, I was not happy. I thought we agreed no food like that as I can see sick people preparing it. I would not let DD have a drink from fast food or food today. But we needed out. I go crazy isolated way out here anyway.
After working tomorrow, going to have to finish, MIL's stuff. They will not have the landline installed in time so have to go to the grocery and have it faxed. I may just overnight mail it. But then a trip to the post office. You cannot email or anything online to the Indiana Medicaid offices, they are stuck in the dark ages.
After I finish that, going to start going to the basement and walking on the treadmill, has been pouring outside here the last few days, 29 tonight. It's just miserable. I'm miserable. It's starting to get to me. I was home 3 days out of 5. 1 day in small town, today in and out. Yes, I know, but I'm still taking more precautions then 99% of these people. And I don't know how many days was here the week before, cancelled all our appointments, cancelled my massages, damn I miss those. Probably those more then anything.
25th is my birthday no dinner out, sigh. No cake unless I bake it.

Yes, I know the 14 day window does, but none of us are sick.

TD finally got the WFH order on Tuesday, but it took him the rest of this week running back and forth in order to get into the system from home, and to grab things he needs. He has taken over the DR table, and the massage table with drawings.
I have been out twice this week, once to pick up my paper prescriptions to send off, and to the grocery store. We are set until the end of next week until I hit Costco. I have no plans to go out. We will probably get take out one day next week in order to help local businesses.

Here is the thing though it takes the entire 14 day window for you to know if you are sick. Once you show symptoms it's too late to go back in time and avoid all of the people you saw.
CG - buying a rocking chair and more food when you have plenty aren't good choices. Plus all 3 of you are higher risk.
Think of it this way...how bad do I feel after having friends over or being at someone else's house and then having my kid throw up overnight that same night. Like oh she was totally fine at the bday party and now she's puking and has a fever. And then the debate of do i call those we saw - well yes if it was grandma and a newborn cousin. And I usually call other attendees as well to give them a heads up which most appreciate.
