I made the mistake of looking at my step count in the July Challenge. OMG, I haven't been that low in years. YEARS! I know it's because I sprained my ankle and I've been taking it easy, but OMG. Intellectually I know that one month isn't going to make or break me, but even still, it just feels awful to the number.
Tomorrow is a new month and my ankle is mostly better so I'm going to make the effort to get back to my normal routine and a more normal step count.
Keep up the good work, everyone!

Yeah, that was hugely frustrating when I was having a lot of surgeries last spring. I was aiming for like 3,000 steps per day for a while.

There were days that I was just grateful I could walk around the house without pain. I guess when I put it like that, my month wasn't quite so bad. I didn't realize how important my daily walks were (to my physical and mental wellbeing) until I could hardly walk at all.

Sorry Knee Deep in Water Chloe, but nothing new to report. I've been having issues with my back since before the move this Spring, which some days limit how much activity I can do. Throw in that I've been "chained" to my desk, doing a crazy amount of paperwork, and I'm just not getting in the activity level I'd hoped for lately. But don't worry, I haven't given up. You all keep up what you've been doing, as it motivates the rest of us!

no updates to report here, either. this year went off the rails when I moved into this rental and the situation was not even close to what I was expecting.
August goals are to survive and not do any damage, lol... closing on my new house around the end of August, so perhaps I can work on setting some September goals.

Anyone setting August goals? I haven't done much of anything. I do my zumba class on zoom three days a week and am trying to watch my diet. Other than that, nothing. The gym is open, but I'm not going. I stopped my membership. I am thinking of getting a treadmill so that I can get steps in. I just need somewhere to put it and to find one I like.

Status quo is my report! Took a week off from exercise because it was too darn hot, and why the hell not give myself permission to take a break? Weight is holding steady. My goal this year is to simply not gain weight and I'm doing good. Now to actually put the effort into losing a pound or two...

Anyone setting August goals? I'm still doing my walking, and a few youtube videos. When it's too hot, I walk the malls. I guess my goal for August is to maintain while I'm working from home. It's hard! How is everybody else doing?

Anyone setting August goals? Thanks for keeping me accountable! I've been drinking too much, eating too much crap, and doing too little exercise, but I'm getting better now. Eating more veggies, exercising a little more. Still drinking too much.

I haven't done much physical activity lately. Since covid hit, I lost my job for a few months and really spent too much time snacking and watching shows. And it is nice out and still haven't put forth the effort. I do need to do that! I did cut down on the snacking however and am thinking of joining the YMCA. However, I want to join a Y that is about 20 min away in a neighboring town. We do have a local Y here but I really don't care for it. The pool isn't nice and it's very damp and kind of moldy in there , hard for me to breathe. They have a beautiful Y down the road in a neighboring town that has a really great pool for lap swimming. I used to belong to my local Y but did not use it that much. And, supposedly you can visit any other Y using your local Y card. Except I have not found that to be true. We have a couple of towns that have them and because we are in close proximity, they will not honor the other card and you pay the day rate or you are only allowed i a limited number of times. I can understand they want to prevent someone from buying a membership at one location and using it another. And, right now, this Y down the road is not allowing any day passes or other Y members, only card members. So, I would like to purchase a membership at this Y but not sure the Y will take members from a different area when you have one in your hometown.

Had a good step total for month of July. Was over stretch goal. Goal for August is going to be 410,000 with a stretch goal of 435,000. Welcome momof3 to the monthly step challenge.

July is over. I don't know if that's good or bad.
The good: exceeded my stretch goal by 10,000 steps. Lost a pound. The bad: goal was to lose 2 pounds.
August goals:
500,000 steps with a stretch goal of 525,000 Lose 2 pounds Continue drinking 2 big cups (I think the one I'm using is 32 oz) of water a day. I forgot about this one so have only managed it 3 days so far.
That seems sufficient to keep things in check. ners your steps have really increased! flamingo glad you're starting to mend!
Didn't we have someone else joining our step challenge?

Anyone setting August goals? July was not my best month - between being less motivated and the heat/humidity levels for most of the month making me not want to walk outside, my steps were way down. August is a new month, and we got a break in the weather, so took long walks with the family yesterday and today. I've also realized (or admitted...because I really already knew this) my core is very weak, how I sit while WFH doesn't help, and I'm going to end up with some back problems if I don't do anything about it. So, I found some beginner core moves to try, and my goal is to do them at least 5 days/week. I'm hoping I can do them during the day when I get a break between meetings, and don't end up doing them right before bed like last night and tonight, but as long as they get done, I'll call it a win.

I'm still here, half assing along. Some weeks are good as far as effort made, some are not and so here I am, mostly still where I started. All I can really say for it is that I haven't given up. Lol
Covid didn't really effect my job except make things different. And busier, since I've spent way more time explaining how things worked while the offices were closed, but open. ( No public allowed, but we were in there working and using drop boxes.) I forgot my point, but I'm here much less often now since I'd check in during slow points at work and now there aren't so many.

"Food too much. Adult beverages too many."
This is the story of my life lately. 😔. And I really want a snack and adult beverage! Holding off, and sipping my tea. Getting back on the wagon. Measurements done (embarrassing), and trying to sign into my old MFP account. Can't seem to get my password, so I guess I'll make a new one and start fresh. My step counter broke. Thinking about getting a new one. Was supposed to get one for my birthday/mother's day, and that never happened. Any suggestions on ones that aren't too expensive, but not too cheap, either?

Back to the gym for the last 2 days. It's a start! I actually jogged a bit on the treadmill. I really hate jogging. I don't know why there are so many runners, that just isn't for me! But as a means of exercise, obviously it's a good one.

Lizard Queen, if you get into your MFP, I'm on there. We help hold each other accountable if you want. I've been avoiding MFP lately and need to get back to it.
Waaaaaaaaay toooo muuuuchhhhhhh food for me this last week. Must get under control. And just had french toast, so clearly I'm not actually putting those words into action yet.

So much sugar the last few days. Going back on the strict eating plan. Eat from 6:30 am - 7:00pm Every 2 -3 hours have about 150 - 200 calories 1000 calories/day 100 or few carbs/day 70 ounces or more of water/day
I'm up five pounds from what has been my normal since March. My normal since March is what I weighed until 2015.

I'm trying to get it together but it's a struggle. I think we are going to break down and buy an elliptical or treadmill at some point.
I can't risk the gym. My pulmonary doctor said absolutely not. I tried working out in a mask on vacation and I just can't. The gym was empty and I wiped equipment down before using and after.
I did a couple of short laps outside today before finding out there's an air quality alert and I have asthma. I can't win. I just don't know what to do short of parting with $1,000+. Can't go to gym, can't be outside on these days.

I gained about a pound and a half over a weekend. Not the right direction! I've started thinking about getting an elliptical as well. But it'd have to go in the basement--with the spiders! (Actually, I haven't seen nearly as many spiders since my DH caulked the cracks, but still, I remember them!)

My new at home spin bike is a game changer. Best $1000 I’ve spent. It’s so hot and humid and hard to breathe outside, it’s so nice to be able to work out comfortably. And when winter comes and it’s dark for what feels like all day, I’ll appreciate being able to work out inside after dinner.
i set mine up in a corner of our dining room/living room combo so I can watch tv while I ride. It looks so dumb right there, but it’s really the only place for it and I just don’t care. If I had a basement I’d Put it down there and hook up a tv and have my own little world.
