I am taking my brother to a memorial tonight and so he is going to pay for food. I have no idea where though.

yesterday, I picked up a rotisserie turkey breast when I went to the store for proteins for the pups. $6.99 and it was huge. dinner tonight will be something with turkey, either I'll chop a Caesar salad or do up a pita pocket with turkey and tabbouleh since there's a tub of that in the fridge as well.

Fajitas tonight, already prepped, spaghetti tomorrow night and may make meatballs if I can get the ground round thawed.

I made a ham-and-bean soup using great northern beans. It was a crockpot recipe and called for light brown sugar in the end. It was startlingly good. I would never have thought of that.

I have seen recipes with items added I would not think was good. One is my home canned spaghetti sauce that contains soy sauce! It adds a subtle flavor that even hubs likes.

I took out chicken to thaw but I'm kinda feeling tacos instead now. Chicken tacos! It's probably because I've been eating chicken for a few days actually. The tacos would be ground turkey, but once all the seasoning is in it you really can't tell much of a different from ground beef. I'm going out for sushi tomorrow night, so that will help with some of the monotony too. I was actually thinking that I need to look for some vegetarian recipes and skip meat all together for a night or two per week. It's supposed to be good for you to do that.

The texture is a little different, but still like ground turkey with how they absorb the seasoning.

I just make according to package directions and add seasoning. I think it's like 3 cups water to 1 cup lentils, simmer for 15-20 with the lid ajar. I usually take the lid off the last 5 minutes to boil extra water off.

Appetizers on the patio with the neighbors. A lot of different foods. I took skewers with a tomato, olive, tortellini, mozzarella ball and artichoke heart quarter.

I am going to be doing spaghetti for dinner the next few days and last night I did turkey pinwheels to try and eat semi-healthy.

I probably won't eat tonight. I'm stopping for lunch on my way home from the office, logging in another hour or so working, too. not the place I havw been going on Fridays, but another Italian place. I can grab an appropriately portioned lunch plate of chicken piccata for $9. that works, I have been craving it anyway. there will also be a glass of wine.

I have some canned chicken in the pantry, maybe 3-4 cans (this was my winter supply in case of ice storms). Chiv gave me idea, even though I don't feel terrific, I think a from a Valentine thing at the VA last friday has found me. A salad sounds really good for dinner and I'll use up 1 can of chicken by making chicken salad and add it to the romaine lettuce.
Thanks, Chiv.

I picked up a frozen skillet dinner, as so not to trash the kitchen after deep cleaning for tomorrow's open house. everything I did tonight required a skillet/lid, one cutting board, and a mixing bowl. oh, and cooking utensils. everything but the skillet and knife are now stashed in the dishwasher. I think this has cured me of ever reverting back to the convenience meals I relied on in college. I'm still hiccuping and can't get the taste out of my mouth. I may very likely pitch all of the leftovers, as much of a waste that would be.
Bertolli chicken florentine bowties ($9 for family size, the normal package wasnt available). I also picked up a rotisserie chicken to add more protein ($6, still have 3/4 left), and roasted off half a broccoli crown and a few stalks of asparagus to mix in. while cooking, I added some milk and a bunch of fresh grated parmesan to try and mask the taste of freezer. it didn't work.

today has been a day of picking. I stopped at a Buffalo Wild Wings between getting my car and picking up the pups from daycare around 230, put in another hour-ish of work. they have "happy hour" from 2-6pm daily, at least weekdays. I grabbed a couple tall Coors Lights and a half portion of loaded nachos, for $15. I'm still full, so that's probably dinner.

Sunday night DH got pizza. I got back at 8pm so cooking was not happening.
Monday night I made the unstuffed pepper dish. Estimated costs $8.
Tuesday night leftovers for me. DH picked up a salad after the gym.
Wednesday night I don't know what I'm having. DH will have grilled cheese and soup since it's Ash Wednesday. It's an easy meat free meal.

I forget that people still worry about Lent and all that. And then I remember that it is Lent because all the fast food places bring the fish sandwiches out.

I stopped at Cracker Barrel on the home from work and had their Wednesday special of Chicken pot pie and a biscuit. I think tonight will be toast and a packet of Quaker Oats flavored oatmeal.

dinner tonight was a big green salad with a cut up chicken cutlet mixed in. I had a package of BSCB with a sell by date of tomorrow and decided to fry up some cutlets since I was home today. I'll use up the rest over the next few days. I've got some leftover linguine marinara from Monday that will be dinner tomorrow with a cutlet.
chicken was ~$6, everything else was here.

chicken cutlet Caesar tonight. I used up on of the smaller cutlets and the last tiny romaine heart. shredded parmesan, croutons and dressing are staples in my house. oh, and chianti. 😎 and of course, now I'm picking at a bowl of Doritos while I unwind. I need to stop buying these damn things.

I made hamburger stroganoff tonight mostly because I had cream cheese and sour cream that needed to be used up. Well, and because I like stroganoff. This was as described: easy and good. I just hope it freezes well because it made a ton. I couldn't even eat all of my single serving. It was heavy so it filled me up quickly. But it was really good. I'd make it for my family if I thought they would like it. But there are lots of little kids so probably not.
