thanks for the egg roll recipe, Iggy. I saved that link for later, those sounded really tasty. dinner's been mostly non-existent this week after large late lunches that haven't been all that cost-effective. but, trying new places while I'm on vacation and waiting to be able to move everything into the new house..... my favorite menu item has by far been a Greek salad that was a tower of fresh veggies, with a skewer of swordfish added on, dressed in a light Greek olive oil and oregano. I left the feta off b/c I don't like it. I'm still picking at the leftovers of that, 3 days later. lol... I'll try to remember to upload a pic I took for a local foodie group, my phone is currently on the charger. it was a beautiful presentation. for dinner tonight, we are taking my pups here. they have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly, so we can hang out outside and space out from people and let the pups be rock stars. pups will have chicken tenders ($11) while we're out, and a lighter bowl of veggies at the house before we go. I'm craving a salad again, an entree size Caesar with chicken is $12 there. maybe.

Nachos. Then chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk. A short nap then potato chips. I am going to let my potato chips run out and eat tortilla chips because I eat fewer of them.

we finally got that Chinese takeout we have been talking about all week. I picked up the tab as a weak thank you (I still got an argument about it) for entertaining my circus way longer than originally planned. $56 got us: vegetable spring rolls chicken teriyaki crab rangoon shrimp and chicken pad thai chicken lo mein pork fried rice w/bean sprouts
we all have leftovers for days.

Thursday night we got take out Texas Roadhouse. $40 with tip.
Friday night DH's parents and siblings had dinner together. We ordered several take out family meals and a pizza. The food was excellent and lots of leftovers. The bill probably would have been triple for the 12 of us if we'd eaten in the restaurant.
Saturday night DH is having leftover salad from Friday. I boiled some pasta and grabbed sauce from the big jar I opened for the tortellini on Wednesday.

Yesterday DH smoked a rack of beef ribs. I cooked potatoes and turnips in the Crock Pot, and mashed them before serving. We also had a garden fresh tomato with sliced mozz, and a few deviled eggs on the side. So good. $15-ish for 3 servings.
Tonight: There is ham hocks and beans in the slow cooker. I'm not a fan, so I'll figure something else out. Cost $5 for several servings. DH will pack leftovers for lunches.
Tues: Crock Pot chicken quarters and BBQ sauce w/ a side veggie. The quarters aren't something we usually buy, but DH bought them during the "food shortage" in March. They were the only chicken cut available. $6 or so. Wed: Teriyaki tuna steak, shrimp, veggie. $10 Thurs: Veggie Crock Pot pie, with almond flour soppin' biscuits. $6? (Not sure, need to buy veggies as fresh produce is down to one avocado, a tiny garden tomato, fruit, and a few cups of baby spinach.) Fri: Take out from? Sat: Leftovers Sun: DH is smoking a brisket Have a fantastic week, everyone.

Black bean pulled chicken for Monday. It's been raining off and on and it's not warm by August standards. Maybe $8 total. We'll have leftovers.

I'm still unpacking my kitchen, so no cooking for me yet. I should be functional in the next day or so. I did go grocery shopping this morning, for some sale items and fresh produce. $127 later.... 🙄 one of the sale items was 93% lean ground turkey. three packages for the pups with chopped kale, Ill cook that in a couple days when their shredded chicken runs out. a 4th package is for me. I'll cook that with garlic, onion and bell pepper for American Chop Suey that I can pick at for a few days.
$2.49 - turkey $1 - elbow macaroni $1 - green bell pepper $1.69 - large can crushed tomatoes ? - garlic, onion, seasonings
tonight, I'll pick up a small pizza. that will last a couple meals.
ETA: $13.50 for a small pepper/onion/mushroom. I ate half tonight, so $6.75/meal.

Chicken alfredo over spaghetti.
The alfredo sauce came out of a jar. This recipe is one I use when I don't want to cook or need a fast meal.
It's too windy to grill. And will be tomorrow.

do you like broccoli? next time, nuke a steamer bag of broccoli florets and drain it before adding to the pot. that was a staple "no cook" night for my mom when I was a kid.

Mid-week change! Going to supper with my dad and sis tonight. DH and I will have the tuna that is thawing in the fridge tomorrow night, and I'll make the veggie pot pie for Meatless Monday next week. There aren't any leftovers for Saturday, so I'll suggest to DH we grill burgers.

I'm not very motivated this week.
Tuesday night we had leftover black bean chicken.
Wednesday night I made a honey mustard chicken and sauteed squash that were grown by me! Estimated costs $4.50. We have some leftovers.
Thursday night dinner with friends. I have no idea what is planned or costs.
Friday night I would like to make a nice dinner but I need to find scallops.

I went out for my birthday, so it was free for me. I'll return the gesture next month on my friend's birthday. we went to a local small chain (4 or 5 locations) Italian place I like. my friend got a Greek salad with chicken, I got a dish they called tortellini carbonara - tortellini with chicken and prosciutto, tossed in a garlic mushroom cream sauce. carbonara it absolutely was not, but it was definitely tasty. I have another big meal waiting with the leftovers. 😁

tonight, I used the stovetop for the first time - heating up a can of Campbell's Healthy Request chicken noodle soup. ($1.50) and took a first pass at cleaning the oven. it needs another round, tomorrow morning. hopefully 2 rounds does the trick, so I can roast some veggies tomorrow night. the stovetop grates and griddle are finally set after using some hard chemicals and the sanitize setting on the dishwasher. yikes. tomorrow night if the oven is all set, I'm going to roast some broccoli, mushrooms, and grape tomatoes to stir into my leftovers from last night. I can warm that up low and slow on the stovetop in a big saute pan. I picked out most of the mushrooms while I was eating the original dish, so I need to add *something* to it! broccoli - $1 for a big crown tomatoes - $2 a dry pint mushrooms - $2.50 for 10oz if the oven needs a third pass with the hard cleaners, I'll do a chicken "cheesesteak" on the stovetop with one of the tasty sub rolls I picked up today. I was surprised to see them available this far south! for the MA posters - Piantedosi, AKA the D'Angelo sub rolls.

Finalizing the week: Tonight: Thai take out. I'll have the chicken lettuce wraps, and DH usually orders a wonton or pot stickers for us to share. Cost $25-ish
Tomorrow night: We'll BBQ hamburger patties leftover from the solstice party (I know, these things just keep on coming!) along with cheddar brats I bought earlier this week, and deviled eggs and some sort of veggie(s). $12 for 4 servings Sun: The locally raised brisket w/ veggies. $10?
Mon: The veggie pot pie I mentioned loosely adopted from Slow Cooker Veggie Pot Pie. I'll make low carb soppin' biscuits in lieu of the refrigerator biscuits. $10-ish for many servings. Have a fantastic 3-day weekend, everyone!

I forgot I had bought some marinated turkey tips the other day, and never cooked them. I can put the package in the freezer, right? it's like half a pound, two big pieces.
dinner tonight is going to be a half-assed Thanksgiving dinner. I picked up a rotissere turkey breast yesterday while shopping bc that store does amazing stuff to their rotisserie poultry. 🤤 Ill roast some red potatoes and broccoli, and make a small pan of stuffing for sides. I just need to finish cleaning the oven this afternoon.
$6.99 turkey breast $2.49 bag of stuffing $2. carton of chicken broth $1. broccoli crown $1. handful of tiny potatoes ?? seasonings, onion, garlic
I'll have leftovers for a few meals.

It's going to be carry out tonight....Wendy's taco salads!
Last night was one of those "bakes" in a box, only I added more chicken breast meat & more veggies. DH liked it so there will be a rerun tomorrow night of that. It has a biscuit topping instead of pie crust, but it's basically a big pot pie.
I need to start cleaning out the freezers since both need defrosted....So time to eat mostly out of them as much as possible.

There's a tiny, hole-in-the-wall Chinese place not too far from here, always take-out only. It's been around for at least 50 years. The food is delicious, and it won the People's Choice awards a few years back. I got Pad Thai with shrimp. It's enough for 3 meals. I love hole-in-wall places run by families...they're the best!

I'm treating a couple people to dinner tonight as a thank you for helping finish unloading the POD today, we are going here to meet a friend of mine for an outdoor dinner. no idea what it's going to cost, I'm most likely having a small Caesar salad with grilled swordfish. and wine.

Yesterday we had a BBQ at my brother in law's. We contributed 4 racks of ribs to the smoker, homemade BBQ sauce, wings, chocolate salted caramel cookies and cranberry juice for cocktails. And I picked up birthday candles. We did an early cake for my nephew. We put the tray of Costco mac and cheese in the smoker and it was excellent.
Tonight my sister in law is making enchiladas. I was supposed to be making blackberry margaritas but I forgot to make the syrup. I have plenty of leftover cookies.
It's going to be a bummer when I have to cook dinner again.

Wendy's burgers, the fries were cold. The strawberry lemonade looked like jam was in the bottom. Filled me up. I know I need an injection of high calorie food when I get potty mouth.
