DD and I had tomato soup mixed with milk.
I think hubs had a can of beans. But we had Subway for lunch and DD had the rest of the quesadilla casserole, so enough.

I got Chinese takeout this afternoon around 2. large PFR with bean sprouts, and a lunch special chicken lo mein with teriyaki appetizer. $17. I ate enough of the rice off the top of the container to allow me to close it fully (it was tasty as always), one teriyaki skewer, and about half the chicken lo mein. I was still stuffed hours later, I haven't been eating much lately in general. for 'dinner' much later, I had the other teriyaki skewer and a "cracker cut" of cheddar cheese.
leftovers will be 1 meal of lo mein, and 3 or 4 of PFR if I don't pick cold forkfuls as a snack here and there. not bad for $17!

Tonight will be leftover green beans from the garden along with fried cabbage and little, link sausages. They are good once in awhile. Not good for us, but taste good. I think we had some 3 months ago when I bought meat.

I bought a lot of veggies yesterday at the grocery store. Late in the afternoon I cleaned all of them, and made a roasted veggie dinner. It was REALLY good. I have enough left over for tonight and enough veggies for at least 3 or 4 roasted dinners.

I am baking a family size chicken lasagne from Walmart along with apple brownies. I will share with my friend who is having hand surgery today. Then H. said he's going for burgers at the tennis social. I'm not going. Too risky.

I have no idea what I'm making for dinner, I've barely eaten anything today. need to cook for the pups, 3lbs of ground turkey with chopped kale. I may pinch some turkey for myself and make a burger (? not sure what I have for rolls/bread). kale was part of my Misfits box. not sure of the exact math, maybe $1? turkey was $8 for 3lbs, and it will last a few days.

This thread really highlights how often we eat spaghetti. 🤪 I've thought that before. It shows how often we have tacos and spaghetti.

I found a package of mushroom ravioli in the back of the fridge, I'm going to toss that in a saute pan of sauteed mushrooms and baby spinach, in a parmesan "cream" sauce. quotes around cream, b/c I don't have any. I'll figure something out.

debating between egg roll in a bowl, or using some of the tasty pesto I made this morning with some pasta.

My first 2020 post on this thread. I see we're no longer breaking down meal costs. To make room in the garage freezer, we're wrapping up the rest of last year's locally raised beef and pork to make room for this year's. Last night I wrapped the homemade bacon DH made around mahi mahi fillets, and served them with Birds Eye veggie made pasta, sauteed zucchini and a shrimp cocktail appetizer. To make life easier this year, I've been planning meals up to two weeks in advance, including Taco Tuesday, a leftover night, and a fish and shrimp night. Next I want to incorporate Meatless Mondays. And the slow cooker has been a time saver in the evenings as it's been busier than ever at the office and I am pooped when I get home.

I finished my portion of the chicken lasagne from Walmart. It's supposed to be 11 servings. I usually get 8.

sometimes we do, I try to when I remember. scratch those dinner plans I was debating earlier. it has cooled off a bunch in the last half hour or so, and we are under a thunderstorm warning for awhile this evening. I'm going to take this opportunity to roast a butternut squash I got in the previous Misfits box, that's almost 3w ago. not sure what else I have that is tasty roasted, will dig around and see what I can find. I picked up a baguette at the local farm stand just now, I may broil some to make it crusty. $3 - baguette (I might cut 1/4 of it) $22 - Misfits box, I'll add a pic of the haul. ETA: another change of plans. lol... I found some rotisserie turkey in the freezer, that is thawing out to get added to the roasting pan to warm up at the end. butternut is seasoned with pumpkin pie spice and EVOO, and I cubed up a couple potatoes as well (seasoned with garlic powder, black and red pepper) for the roasting pan. I'm skipping the baguette for tonight, since potatoes. $22 - Misfits box. squash and potatoes were both in one of them. $0 - turkey had a day of early May. I'll call that free.

I got hooked on that french bread in a roll that you bake. The stuff is really good and we do not need it. You slit it crossways, so we end up with 4 pieces. One each for DD and I and 2 for hubs. One night I was so hungry for more, baked another, a no, no. But it hits the spot with about any dish.
Tonight was shrimp, hubs boiled with shrimp dip, DD and mine sauteed in some butter and garlic and mac salad. Then DD begged me to bake lemon bars so did. We ate all of them! There really wasn't much in it, but enough. It was all good.

We had take out last night instead of our usual Friday night. On tonight's menu is stuffed portobello, tempura fried eggplant, and the Argentinian red shrimp we discovered earlier this year. Cost $10-ish for 2 servings.
Saturday I'll BBQ a doctored-up cauliflower crust pizza. $9
Sunday we'll grill some of last year's elk our neighbors gave us. It's almost hunting season again! $3 for the side veggies.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.

I had pizza for lunch so decided I would have Instant oatmeal tonight. Instead, the oatmeal got 2nd place for tomorrow morning and dinner was a tall glass of 1% milk and a chocolate package of Carnation Essentials.

Tuscan chicken breast, baked potato with either butter or sour cream, green salad and choice of salad dressing.
When I have left overs, H. will eat them for lunch instead of a sandwich then what's for dinner.

I nuked the last of the pork fried rice from Monday around 5 after I fed the pups early. there was a lot more left than I thought there would be, so that's probably it for me for the night. rice was $8, I've had 3 or 4 small bowls of it over the week, and then one big one tonight. however that breaks down.

Sliced tomatoes from the garden, fresh corn, hubs bought, they were picked this morning. Probably some cukes, maybe a baked potato. I also have filets I may grill with mushrooms. Sounds good to me.

I finally made the egg roll in a bowl just now, it wasn't bad. good starting point, will definitely play with the ingredients the next time I make it. I thought it was a little bland, and probably still would have if I had included sriracha (I don't have any at the rental). I think the veggies list needs to have some thai chili peppers or similar, at least serranos for some heat. I served it over some white rice.
I bought a few things to fill out the ingredients list, but I was able to use up these things I already had:
-half a Napa cabbage -the end of a bag of matchstick carrots -2" fresh ginger <-- I think Misfits sent me a pound last box! I brought half to the Cape for M last weekend. -the end of the sesame oil

I'm curious now if thats the "Thai chili" that I would get in a small cup with my takeout soup order, so i could spice to my taste.

Do you find this more vinegary than the sriracha? Not really. It's pretty much all heat with a smidge of garlic. I'd say the biggest difference is that sriracha is a lot sweeter. @chiver, the label has a warning for traces of garlic, no mention of shellfish
