I have a can of 409 oven cleaner. It worked great when I cleaned the oven at Easter. And I'm certain that was the first time the oven had been cleaned since my DH bought this house. 3 rounds of spray on Sunday didn't get all of it off. Sunday night I mixed up baking soda paste I saw recommended online. That sat for 18 hours and only cleaned 1 small spot.
I used the oven anyway last night and didn't set off the smoke detector.
Tonight's dinner is leftovers. Chicken teriyaki for DH and pulled pork sandwich for me. I bought green beans yesterday I'll fix to go with the sandwich and have for other meals.
Grilled burgers for lunch served on the brioche buns from Aldi. They are really awesome.

at some point today, I'm going to make a batch of pasta salad to pick from the rest of this week. I have a 12oz box of tri-color rotini and a colorful mix of veggies for it. that way, I'll only need to grill a turkey burger or bake off some fish for easy meals.
I think my big meal today is going to be a breakfast sub when I finally get hungry this morning. I picked up a package of Piantedosi sub rolls this weekend - MA folks will know the brand as the bread you get at D'Angelos shops. so good! anyway, I'll saute onion, pepper and mushroom before adding eggs. pour that into a toasted roll with American cheese.

When I did property management I worked with a housekeeper that would use a straight razor to scrape the ovens clean. You have to be careful to hold it at the right angle so you don't scratch but once you know how it is the best way to clean the oven and stove top. So quick and no chemicals. I think they make plastic scrapers that might work too. If you don't want to do that maybe try an sos pad or one of the green scrubby pads.

I bought a rotisserie chicken yesterday. Ate a leg, wing, and part of a breast throughout the day. I'm going to pick the chicken from the bone today to use up this week. I'm thinking of making chicken salad for sandwiches for lunch today since I have celery that won't last much longer. I may possibly use some as bbq chicken in a day or two.
I'm trying to start meal planning again and focusing on using up vegetables and food I purchase instead of wasting as a way to reduce my grocery bill.

I thought I was heading out with the pups for an overnight trip on Saturday morning, but now that I have to drop off a document at my old Town Hall by EOB tomorrow afternoon, I'll be leaving by about 2pm tomorrow and crashing with M again. ugh....dinner plans are now out the window. I have about 3/4lb ground turkey and two chicken breast tenderloins still in the fridge that need to be used. I'm okay if I don't finish all of the pasta salad, it's a $1 box of pasta and veggies that needed to be used up. I just had leftover pasta with chicken and veggies for breakfast, to use that up.
options I came up with for two meals tonight/tomorrow: -two turkey burgers w/pasta salad, cook chicken and shred for pups -cook turkey for pups and add to their stash, chop chicken and saute with veggies for a chicken stir fry sub -saute chicken and toss in a Caesar salad
eh, maybe I'll just freeze both.

Thursday night roasted pork, zucchini and sweet potato.
Friday night small graduation gathering for DH's niece. I'm contributing a potato dish and the cake.

Argentinian shrimp sauteed in garlic butter, roasted Brussels sprouts with champagne vinegar and Parmesan cheese, and jasmine rice. DS doesn't eat shrimp...he can make himself a sandwich.

I'm scrapping my earlier plans for an IP recipe. it's more elaborate than I feel like dealing with tonight. I'm still kind of full from lunch, so I'm just going to make a single serving of tortellini with peas and pancetta while I still have cream in the fridge that's good.

IP lemon garlic chicken tonight, over linguine tonight. there will be leftovers, the recipe calls for 6-8 pieces of chicken. debating whether to freeze the rest of the package of B/S chicken thighs, or plan to cook them in the next few days. I think the pkg was 3lbs.

I ended up cooking the whole package of thighs last night, there were 7 pieces. so, right in line with the recipe. I screwed up finishing the sauce, though. I figured I could just use a little flour to thicken it, since I have no clue where my cornstarch is. I feel like all I could taste was the flour. oh well. if I have any of the leftovers over pasta again, I'll thin it out again with more chicken stock as I reheat it.
while I was out just now, I found ciabatta rolls I used to buy all the time when I lived up here before. there aren't any of the flavor of grocery store I was shopping at this morning, on the Cape. I picked up a package, and tonight's dinner will be a lemon garlic chicken sandwich on one of those rolls, with a side salad. I think I still have some arugula, and a big slicing tomato for the sandwich.

We had strip steaks, baked potatoes with sour creme, green onions, and shredded cheese. Good.
I was at the grocer today and was just looking at some meat. A pork shoulder roast was $30, what! I say 85% lean ground beef $4.99. And little packages of chicken was $5. I hope our butcher isn't that high when we finally need more meat, just wow!

Last night was a chicken pot pie from the Fresh Market....it wasn't very good. I wish I hadn't bought 2 of them. I think tonight will be taco salad again.

Friday night DH grilled steaks. They were the last of the meat he bought from a local place so no clue on costs. Fries and broccoli for sides. Maybe $3 for those. Half of my steak is left for another meal.
Still deciding for tonight.

Last night I made Orange Turkey Meatballs. Basically turkey meatballs in store bought orange sauce. I stir fried some veggies and made coconut rice. Surprised at how well it went given I didn't have a recipe, or even a well thought out plan when I started.

I already had 5 limes in the fridge ($1 on sale) when I opened my Misfits box last night and found 4 more. tonight is going to be tequila lime chicken, with cilantro rice and black beans. I'm about to start on the chicken marinade now. I picked up a package of BSCB this am that was over 4lbs, I'll probably marinate half. I can use leftovers over salads or in other meals the next few days. haven't decided if I want to freeze the rest whole, or prepped to cutlets. hmm... my outdoor portable griddle should be here next Friday, so maybe cutlets for easier grilling.

I’m making Chile Verde for dinner . Will have beans , rice , tortillas, etc as well . Yum yum! would you mind sharing your recipe? I don’t really have a recipe . I take a pork butt or shoulder , throw it in the crockpot. in a jar of Herdez roasted green salsa , diced green chili’s , Serrano peppers , etc . They can be canned or fresh , whatever you find and like . Sometimes I also put in jalapeños, hatch chili’s , tomatillos, etc . Salt & pepper and cumin . Usually leave in about 8 hours on low . The one we had today , I put in the crockpot last night and ended up leaving it in for more than 12 hours .
