I used a pound of ground turkey in making a package of Zatarain's L/S dirty rice. I also added garlic, onion, jalapeno and some other spices. there's a ton of leftovers, b/c the box makes 6 servings. I'll be able to grab a quick little cup here and there over the rest of the week.
turkey was $3, dinner mix maybe $2?

H. is looking at me saying I guess I'll have two brats for dinner. Looking sad. My reply - what about the ROAST. Sheesh. I'm a bit testy after being snipped at about everything. I had to pack a lot of food in case we were quarantined for two weeks.

I was browsing a foodie album on FB earlier today and caught a pic of some peanut noodles I haven't made in years, and instantly wanted some. I might need to do that once the couple moves out and I can expand my pantry a little more. that sounds heavenly.

I picked up my first non-day boat fish in 5y at the grocery store today, and was pleasantly surprised by its quality for the price. Maine salmon for $5.49/lb. the grocery guy grabbed a piece that was 2/3lb after I asked for a half, expecting to flake the overage for the pups. okay, sure, I'll take it. I seasoned my 1/3lb with chili seasonings and made a southwest Caesar. their 1/3 was baked unseasoned, to be had at breakfast.

What does non day boat fish mean? day boat fish means it is sold within a day of coming in from being caught. at my house, I could walk to the fish market of the company that supplied most of Cape Cod's restaurants with fresh fish. what was available in that market was what wasn't sold to the restaurants.

I see. We don't have that in KS. I would so love to go there one day and experience that.

I'm thinking about pasta later, maybe tortellini with peas & pancetta. crap, wait. I don't have cream. hmm.......
ETA: I'm going to run out and get cream and basil. then I can decide whether peas & pancetta or bruschetta pasta w/chicken (roti from the freezer) later when I'm hungry. I hate not being stocked up on things that I normally would be.... K leaves tomorrow, fridge and cabinet space are already opening up. I have zero illusions that I'll be cooking like I want to while I'm here, but it would be nice to be able to vary more than I've been able to so far.

Grilled bacon cheeseburgers and raw veggies on the side.
I've got nothing for Thursday. So tired of planning dinner every single night.

I was planning to make chicken piccata tonight, found BSCB for $1.77/lb yesterday. not really feeling like cooking again tonight, though. Chinese takeout sounds like a fantastic idea. rice noodles, anyone?

I made Hobo burritos . DH loves them , it is comfort food from his childhood . What are hobo burritos? I love burritos. It’s usually ground beef , we now use ground turkey though , diced potatoes . Cook those two together with spices . Also , put refried beans and sometimes Mexican rice inside . Then you can add cheese , guacamole , salsa , etc to your preference When his mom made them growing up it was just mostly refried beans , potatoes , and a little ground beef . She had 8 kids to feed .

I picked up tomatoes (mask, eyeballing only) at a curb market today. The BLT was so good!

I made chicken piccata tonight, from one large chicken breast. I cut pieces of uniform thickness for similar cook times. the pic I took for a foodie group, I've got three pieces of chicken over pasta, it looks like I'm eating for 3. but it was less than half of a BSCB 🤷♀️
package of BSCB was $5.40, I had about 1/4 of the package tonight. the rest of the stuff was on hand already, some needed to be used or pitched.

No, I never tried them. They look intriguing. I don't even know where I'd find something like that. Amazon? I'm trying to buy local as much as possible.
