Took the stuff to the Goodwill. I did pick up a small glass cup for my bathroom counter. It's now the home for my toothpaste, comb, tweezers, and nail clippers.

It rained most of the morning and afternoon so I finally got a load of boxes moved after 5pm when it was still hot but at least dry. 20 more boxes in the garage and a handful more in the house to unpack.
I made the most progress in my office, organizing all my sewing bins and fabric, putting things away in my desk and cleaning most of the floor. I've also started putting together the queen bed frame but the screws have a special head on them that's driving me crazy. I might just take one down to the hardware store tomorrow and get replacements.
The living room is looking a lot better and I made progress in the kitchen as well. I don't want to spend too much time organizing it before everything is unpacked but at least the majority of stuff is up off the counters and on a shelf.
Good news too! The fridge is coming in on Friday so I have 40 hours to finish washing the kitchen walls, prime and then paint at least where the fridge is going so I don't need to move it later on. I'm already thinking of the grocery store stock up I need to do! Once that's in I can put the mini fridge in my office and stock it up with drinks.
I'm in a lot of pain tonight but I think I can wash the walls in the kitchen and entryway and either hang the curtain rods or touch up the living room paint. One of the problems is that my kitchen light is so weak and I reached into the sink to do dishes and sliced my finger on a super sharp knife. Lightbulbs are at the top of my shopping list and thankfully I already have plenty of bandaids.

Yes last one. I do have exercises to do at home. I found out today that it was a double fracture. I picked E up twice yesterday ... I REALLY can't carry anything with that hand yet, I was in pain all night.

Well I got the living room paint "done" last night and the kitchen wall washed but I know I'm going to keep finding touch up spots. The entryway is mostly washed so I can prime today.
I could NOT sleep last night, I was up until 3am and then up early for a full day of calls. At least I am making good progress on my book about the female kings of Egypt!

SOOO ... a close friend came over for coffee today. Like me, she had another career, 4 kids, and started teaching late in life. I told her my schedule and she said, you're absolutely insane, you're certifiable. She said, what on earth possessed you to suddenly start working 5 days a week for the first time in your life, at nearly 61?! I had already been increasingly anxious about next semester. So I just emailed my boss to say that if possible, I would like to give up my Fri MSc classes in exchange for other (even fewer) hours. She's away for a month but she told me to feel free to email her, she reads her emails. I can't afford to give up those 72h but I can afford to give up 36h, since Job 2 gave me more hours than I expected for Sem 2. So there we go. That was HUGE for me, because those are my favorite classes, and I planned to keep them post retirement. It was bad enough that those classes went from Thursdays to Fridays, but I just learned that one is on Friday afternoons. I want to be free to visit our kids in the UK, even if we don't do it often. So we'll see. I said that if it's too late to change for next semester, no problem. Hopefully it won't be. I also offered to do those classes online, but I know they'll say no.

debthaven, I hear you and don't blame you for wanting those Friday afternoons off. It gives one something to look forward to during the long work week.

Thank you Iggy aka IG . I'm feeling guilty because I adore my boss and I don't want to cause her any hardship, but I know I need to put myself first. Life has its ebbs and flows. With a ton of adjuncts, there are always some who want to work less, and some who want to work more. That class is 1000% planned (by me), it's rock solid, and VERY easy for anyone else to take on. I'm very blessed. My colleagues have always been extremely generous with their materials, so I'm the same.

I can't for the life of me remember how to create a new thread anywhere else it may be appropriate. So I'm going to ask all of you for your input.
I have had this idea roiling around in my brain for the past couple of months and I want to research it. I don't want to google anything, I'm not looking for a modern interpretation of the information. I've read countless articles on the internet. I'm tired of clicking on links that don't tell me where they got their information I want source materials. Books, articles, diaries etc. Stuff from the 1920's and 30's preferably. I want bibliographies. Footnotes. Old school research.
My questions revolve around the pandemic in 1918. At what point did they decide to wear masks? Who disseminated the information? How did people react? Was there wide scale compliance with the idea of masks? What were the consequences of noncompliance? At what point did they decide that masks were no longer necessary? How much did the fact that the US had just participated in a World War have to do with it or was it relevant at all? How did ordinary people cope with the pandemic?
I'm looking for a starting point. I think I can actually go in to my local library and will be doing so next week. I'll be looking for input from the research department.
Meanwhile, can anyone offer a suggestion for a starting point? A book you're remember? A diary you read? Memories of a grandparent?
ETA: Until recently I can never recall seeing photos of people in1918 wearing masks, although I was aware that there was a flu epidemic. I've also seen countless photos and read a lot about the 1920's and never once recall seeing or reading about people wearing masks or worrying about the flu. When was it declared over?

Honestly, go to wikipedia. Find an article on it, scroll to the bottom of the article and look at the sources. That should give you a few directions to go.

My fridge arrives today so I have a couple of things I need to do before they get here:
-move the nightstands away from the front door -finish paint touch ups on wall behind fridge -take box of car stuff to the garage
Otherwise the list today is pretty simple: -remove baseboards in the entryway -finish primer in the entryway -hang curtain rods and curtains in the living room -set up queen bed
I've got a handful of client calls as well so today should be busy! If the rain holds off I'll try to get the last 2 loads of boxes done but it is very wet out there so it may not happen.

I've kinda been absent from the thread lately, but for a productive and on point reason. I've been ORGANIZING a business I decided to start this summer! I am almost ready to launch, so I have been trying to finalize all the little details. I am very excited and nervous but I think it's a good time to put my business degree to some use!
I am opening an online women's boutique- clothes, jewelry, accessories. Home decor items. Hand poured candles and melts (I make them). And I will also be selling custom made tshirts and tumbler cups. Once the COVID stuff settles and vendor events return, I plan to take the boutique to those as well. I will share the info so you can check it out once its live!

I still haven't made a trip to Goodwill. Mostly it's because I'm still trying to add to the stash, and definitely NOT because I'm a procrastinator. We built a house a few years ago, and I disposed of/donated stuff like crazy while moving in. So it's definitely not cluttered. But I want to donwsize in a major way in about 4 years after the last kiddo graduates high school. So I'm working on the laundry room today. Tossing cleaning products and soaping-making supplies I will never use. Other craft supplies will present challenges; how much yarn and jewelry wire does a gal need? nikiz628 I look forward to checking out your business, especially the candles.

Malarky, your project sounds fascinating. Please do keep us posted. startsmart, your "simple" list would take me all weekend, LOL. Congratulations on your new venture, nikiz628!!! Welp, ladies, I finally did it. debthaven, I will be meeting with the potential new house cleaner next week. She might be cleaning my office as well. Speaking of office, I've been unusually focused here lately. I completely cleared out my desk in basket for the first time in YEARS, the stack of current filing was completed, and the chair with a broken wheel is now gone. I filled the reception water fountain and dusted the windowsills. Items for my deck project should start arriving today. I'll keep you posted. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

lol Iggy it might take me longer because I cannot seem to find my crowbar for the baseboards! update: -move the nightstands away from the front door -finish paint touch ups on wall behind fridge -take box of car stuff to the garage
Otherwise the list today is pretty simple: -remove baseboards in the entryway-finish primer in the entryway -hang curtain rods and curtains in the living room -set up queen bed
My neighbor also kindly mowed my entire lot and did the edging It looks so good and will hold me over until my lawnmower arrives next week. We spent some time letting our dogs get to know each other which was all fine until my dachshund decided he wanted to bite their dog's butt. They did run around the yard a lot so I hope this means they'll be quiet and sleep tonight. OH - guess who just found her crowbar hiding behind a potted plant?! I'm off to remove some baseboards

TheO- yes! The fridge arrived and got leveled and is so awesome. I still need to do a proper grocery run but will wait until next week. I also realized there’s a whole bottom cabinet in the kitchen I forgot about which I can now fill with bowls and glass pans!
I got some of the bedroom walls done last night (it’s a BIG room) but there was also some mold hiding behind baseboards so I am going over that again today with a bleach mixture.
I found a good combo for floors so I have been spraying the living room floors and using my steam mop to clean up.
The queen bed is all set up and I brought in the nightstands too. If I can get the lumber soon then I’ll get the twin mattress moved to that bed frame.

We picked up our new fifth wheel on Monday. I did get the trailer stuff out of the house that I had stacked around, but today I need to get the rest of trailer stuff out of the garage and into the new trailer.

I have been making good progress today on the boxes, I am focused on emptying ones with clothes, bathroom items and kitchen stuff. I do need to find a China cabinet so most of my glassware can live there.
Decided to stay home today, tomorrow I’ll do laundry and try to get all of the towels that were used to wrap items in boxes clean. Already moved one load of boxes upstairs and I have another 8 empty boxes to go up.

I have just worn out on doing house projects so am taking a break. I still need to get the decks cleaned, the hand rails sanded and painted, and the underside of the back deck cover cleaned and painted. Work is getting hectic but I still plan on only working two days this week and then off the rest of the week. I am going to load up the trailer and go to my folks lot over on the coast and just socially distance and rest.
This morning was a semi-normal Saturday morning and it felt so good. I made a quick trip to the store, and didn't even call Mom and see if she needed anything. Then I did housework. The bed got changed, the bathrooms cleaned, and most of the dusting was done. Then DD came up with the kids and we went swimming for about an hour. You have to sign up for a time to swim and they are limiting the number of people in the pool. You must also have a designated social distancing monitor who reminds your family to keep their distance and who makes sure that your family sprays and wipes down any lawn chairs that are used.
