When my alarm went off I did not want to get up and go start my laundry! But I finally got dressed, hauled everything out to the truck and started 4 loads at the laundrymat. I have been unpacking the kitchen and used towels for packing material so there's a whole load of just dish towels and cleaning rags. It'll be good to stock up the kitchen and I don't mind having so much "extra" because I'm going to add a small kitchen on the second floor.
I also decided to do my big shopping trip today so after laundry is finished I'll head out to the "city" to buy the things I need for the bed, a bookshelf, and the fridge/freezer.
ETA: my truck was misbehaving so I just did the grocery store run and headed home. I’ll see if I can get it into a shop next week and then make the longer drive to the hardware store.

This morning I canned 14 pints of applesauce. This afternoon I got out my electric chain saw and whacked away on the white lilac until both of my yard debris bins were full. I'm thinking maybe one more week of filling the yard debris bins and that thing will be gone except for dealing with the stump. Not sure how I'm going to get the stump out but will worry about that when I get there. I was supposed to go to the coast for a long weekend at the end of this week but think I will stay in town instead. There is so much to do around the house. I also need to be making some decisions about which path I want to take as I head towards retirement probably in the next decade. It could be sooner depending on my parents health. There have been a lot of tears shed this weekend as my brother is busy posting pictures of picnics up at the lake while I'm driving my Mom around to get bacon, and apples that she thinks she is going to make applesauce with. I know I will end up doing the applesauce, but I want her to struggle some to see that it isn't sustainable to try and keep living her life like she always has. Yesterday Mom couldn't remember that we rented the cabin on the river for the weekend at the end of April, nope she swears she hasn't been there since last October. She also had never seen my house with the new color. Didn't remember that we had driven by once and that I had her over for dinner before her second surgery so she could see the color. I would like to have a picnic at the lake once in a while, without having to deal with Mom.

I'm sorry Sharon. I won't even get into my in-laws and my MIL. Thankfully they usually kept me and DH out of the shit show loop since we had enough of our own to deal with.

I got brave tonight and redeemed my pop cans. On a good day the bottle redemption center is a dirty smelly nasty place. The line was short so I gave it a go. They have made some changes, there is now a plastic sheet hanging between each of the machines. Previously they were only allowing every other machine to be used. After the bottle drop I picked up a couple of prescriptions and then went to Safeway and redeemed a couple of winning lottery scratch tickets. Woot, Woot, got my $6.

Sharon, It's hard to be the responsible one - I would suggest donating the apples if you don't want to make the apple sauce. Hugs.

Sharon , It's hard to be the responsible one - I would suggest donating the apples if you don't want to make the apple sauce. Hugs. That would never fly. Mom is always I can do that. I will get it done, except it doesn't happen. Yesterday I brought in her empty jars with the rings on them and her canner. We determined that she had enough lids in the house within reach. The apples were on the counter. I called her today and she hadn't started. She had to bring in all the old applesauce from out of the garage. Why, I don't know. I would have brought that in once she was ready to put the new away. Then she was talking about getting the lids ready. I don't know what that was about because we did that yesterday. Plus she had to empty the dishwasher before she could put in the jars to get clean. She is so sure that she is going to get it done and still has the capabilities to do the job. Since she got all those other jobs done today she told me that she can start first thing tomorrow morning.

Please reconsider going away for the weekend. You've been doing so much lately. You have more than earned a break.

I’m experimenting with combining a todo list with a schedule. I’m not sure if this is helpful or not. I’m trying to avoid having an insane, unrealistic amount of things to do and feeling like a failure at the end of the day.

It helps me get stuff done regardless of my depression, which always wants me to put off doing anything at all. I x off things as they're done which helps. And it keeps my ambitions in the shores of realistic.

Well I have been over to Dad's place every day for the last 3 days.
I have all his clothing bagged up with a bunch of hangers in the car and I plan of dropping it off today after work. My back seat is stuffed to the brim and I can't wait to get them gone. Friday I had a few people with me and we were hashing out plans for pressure washing and dealing with the back along with painting. So from 1:15 to about 4:30 --I also returned his cable and internet boxes so that is handled.
Saturday I met with 4 agents trying to find the right one on selling the house. I went with the person who has several years of working with a Credit Union in their Estate department and he brought up several things I never thought of such as me being legally covered if anything comes up with the house. Since I never lived there I shouldn't be held responsible after it's been sold. That was a huge light bulb moment for me. Also his team which is 4 agents have sold over 70 homes in the last year which means they know how to sell. So from 10 to after 4. I was phoned by a neighbor letting me know I left a really prominent/noticeable light on and where Dad lived is pretty picky about things like that.
Sunday I was back at the house weeding the front and side of the house in hot weather for me. It was about 80 and I was a mess and miserable most of the time. When I was done with weeding I than cleaned Dad's car interior for when I go to sell it. I was there from 9:45 until about 2 and than I called it a day. I also signed the paperwork to deal with my new agent on getting the house ready and on the market with a few other things that were kinda important. I found a new lawyer and will be going forward with the rest of Dad's Probate with someone who actually communicates.

wow snapdragon, you got a lot accomplished! Anything involving birth, death, moving or selling takes a lot of energy and you're handling a couple of those at once. Do take care of yourself and find out if it's worth all the time and effort cleaning up and making fixes to the property in order to sell it. A good agent will help determine the essentials and what's overkill.

After talking with the lawyer I really felt like I had been beaten and was just emotionally exhausted. I found out that the previous lawyer did not tell me a few (or more) key details that I needed to know when working on selling things with the estate and dealing with Probate. So last night was just a brain mush and backache attempt to deal. From your posts you are in the midst of a revolution yourself. I really am thankful that you are away from dealing with your parents and the book sounds interesting. I have always enjoyed reading about Ancient Egypt.

And hugs to you, snapdragon, and anyone else who needs one. Two weekends ago I set our gratitude jar with a pad of paper and pen in the middle of the counter so we'd see it throughout the day. We've been filling it and will review it NYE, just as we have for several years now. It has somewhat helped my attitude during this continued C word issue.
Also helping my attitude is the new upper deck project I mentioned last week. Friday afternoon the decor started arriving, and I set up most of it that evening. The LEDs have been wrapped around the railing, the deck swept, arranged a few chairs we already had on hand, the side table unpacked and set out, and two of the artificial plants put in place. I also added a few accessories from different rooms including a candle holder with a LED tea light (no flame candles during the dry season!), and heavy yin yang coasters. Everything I put out there must be relatively heavy, as the wind is quite gusty almost daily. In fact, we were grilling pizza Saturday and gusts launched several pieces of pepperoni off of it before we could get it into the Traeger, LOL. I also did the usual laundry, dishes, toilet scrubbing, food prep, etc. Yesterday, apparently I wanted to do more dishes as I made slow cooker brownies, pancakes, homemade blueberry syrup, and smoked bacon. And, yes, I offset it with some treadmill time.

All of you have been busy little bees. My routine is a combo of getting almost nothing done and other days when I knock out a bunch of things. None of the things are major so I have a tendency to put a few of them off until I get the urge to tackle them. This morning was some how one of those days. *Cleaned and reorganized the freezer section of the fridge. *One load of laundry *Kitchen -- counters and floors *Potted the plant I am trying to start. Not sure if it will work. Topped off the soil in a few other plants. *Called the gym to see what procedure is as I am not quite ready to go back at the moment. *Reorganized my work table in the craft room. *Paid two bills *Several of the usual morning routines. Yesterday I did order a new Chromebook as this laptop is beginning to have a few little quirks. It won't be in for a few weeks but figured as I may be teaching a class using Zoom that I needed one that was a little more recent and reliable than this one. startsmart I may be contacting you if I have any specific questions. I have participated in a few sessions and think I have figured out most of what I will need I am continuing to make small headway in getting rid of things. It is a slow process but better than nothing. hitenney -- Check your messages. Will check in when I can.

Got some errands done today! Mailed something to my brother, got the property survey from the title company, string trimmed the front yard and took out some trash. I’ve been organizing my closet now that most of the boxes with clothes are unpacked and realize that I really need a dresser soon.

Filled out and mailed the paperwork to be added to the veterans database in my state. Filled out the paperwork to get property tax deductions because of being a disabled veteran; awaiting return phone call that may answer what other paperwork they will need. Uploaded my resume to LinkedIn and INVets.org. And washed and dried a load of curtains.

I bought these turntables for the new trailer. I thought they were two separate units. I didn’t realize it was stackable! Bonus!

Who was it who had the tea drinking challenge? I may need to do the same, I have so so many bags to finish!
I’m still unpacking boxes for the kitchen so as I go through the shelves I am tidying them up. The closet is still somewhat of a disaster but every day gets a little better.

My goals for this week are to organize my kid's clothes and go through DS1's clothes to see what he's grown out of this summer. Perk of having boys- they don't give two hoots about a whole new back to school wardrobe. I ordered him some new jeans and shorts in the next size up because he definitely outgrew the ones he had already. A new pair of shoes and he's a happy camper. I know some of the shirts in his dresser are going to be too short now, so he gets to play "try this on and see if it fits" with everything he owns.

Hi Kids! Tomorrow I'll have something big out of the house: our old queen mattress & box spring set. Unfortunately, the cost of getting rid of large items has gone up, but this is one time it's worth the cost.

Well, it was a lot of work to get the mattress & box spring down to the curb, but DH, DD & I got the job done last night. And, the garbage company DID pick it up this morning. Now, it's back to getting through some more paperwork. Ah, the glamorous life!

Knee Deep in Water Chloe, I use something very similar in the house for spices, extracts, smoke rubs and the like. Very handy! I also use the same type of shelf liner, LOL. Deck project check in: The outdoor rug (a pretty, blue ombre) arrived yesterday and the water fountain arrived this morning. Cannot wait to see them in place! The reclaimed, 100+ year old barnwood bench is coming from Amish country, so I'm not sure if they keep them in stock, or what the ETA is. Last night I manically (poor DH!) did dishes and spruced up the house in anticipation for the potential house cleaner to inspect this afternoon.

LOL. Yeah, TheOtherMe, I think I may have to apologize to DH this evening. He did a great job clearing off his side of the bathroom vanity per my request, however. Not that the house cleaner is going to actually do any cleaning today, but, well, you know.... Hope Lucy feels better quickly!

Since I let her come back since Covid, I remove everything from all counters, etc. That makes it easy for me to wipe down when they leave.
I hope Lucy feels better soon, too. Thank you.

Cleaner called saying her current job is taking longer than expected, so we rescheduled. I like the fact she's checked in with me about her delay, and subsequent need for a different day. We'll get her done.

Hi all - my computer did a huge update this weekend, and then Monday morning my work email didn't work. After trying the few things I know (turn it off, turn it on again) I had to reach out next door to my nephew, who works as an IT manager. He fixed it. Hurrah! Thank goodness for IT people, especially while we are so dependent on computers for communication. Iggy - I'll try to remember that for NYE!
MoneySquirrel - thank you for the communication! I have more questions, but will get back to you. The O - hope Lucy is better soon! Snapdragon - you are really keeping at it, and that's one of the hardest tasks in life, dealing with family loss and what's left behind. Startsmart - I can't believe your truck went down! I hope you can find a trustworthy mechanic nearby. Nikiz - congrats on the new venture. Debt - Ow! Ow! Ow! Double break - no wonder it's so painful. Hope it continues to improve.
I have been trying to declutter my back bedroom so I can move my office stuff back there (away from husband's TV, which is on all the time! Makes me so sick of commentary pro and con about Trump). I don't mean to get political here, I'm just saying I'm tired of listening to all of it while I'm trying to work. Time for earphones again. Also, back bedroom has a window A/C. Well - back to work. Stay well, everybody!
