Sorry to hear baby did not like the car ride. I wonder if Baby gets car sick?
My kids never seemed to have issues as babies, although DS had some issues as an adolescent, and DD now says she gets carsick if she is not driving.
I know a lot of people who have pets that don't like to ride in the car. I have two dogs that seem to sense when we are going somewhere and the try to bolt out of the house and get in the car to make sure they don't get left behind. LOL.
Being Quarantined for two weeks would be difficult, but they waited so long to even get to Canada - so at least they are in Canada - it is at least a step forward.

The number of companies on my s*&t list keeps growing.
1) PODS for not responding to say when or if they'll be delivering my stuff. Oh and leaving me a message to "call us back" and then hanging up on me.
2) the local appliance store who didn't think to call that my fridge is on back order and now expected in early September. I read them the riot act and within 30 min they got another one confirmed for next week so we shall see. Range should be here and installed tomorrow.
3) Internet company delivered a modem which requires a phone jack (all of my modems for the last 10 years have not needed this) and since this is a 100 yo house there's no first floor phone jack. On hold with them now for the third time today to get the equipment returned and my payments refunded.
4) Payment processor for my business requires me to print a letter, sign it, scan it and email it back just to update my address.
I'm so tired of businesses being crappy!
I may need to go get paint and a smaller bucket, I do not want to balance a nearly full gallon of primer while standing on the top of my ladder to get the tops of the walls painted.
I also really need my crowbar from the POD so I can finish taking off all these really ugly baseboards and door frames and paint right up to the door and floor.

bean29 I wasn't told if baby got car sick. Due to his being born during covid, they had only taken him out of the house for his first vaccines. My sister had suggested they go on some car rides. I did think he would not be happy being in his car seat for so long. He has barely been in the car seat and goes between his bassinet (which isn't there yet), playing on the floor and being held. Being stuck in a car seat for that long is what he didn't like. Nephew said except for time, they had no issues getting through the border. The person in front of them was wanting to vacation there and it took an hour to convince him he couldn't go. He was finally told if he didn't turn around, he would be arrested. They have pretty much quarantined themselves since covid started in early March. This will not be that much different for them. They couldn't leave for Canada until baby's passport arrived and that happened one week ago today. He was 2 weeks old in the photo.

POD is getting delivered tomorrow - finally!! And I am already telling myself to take it easy unpacking. It doesn’t ever really cool down at night here - it’ll still be 70 at midnight. I’m pretty sure I will also need the POD past my 1 month free time so I might as well take it slow.
Yesterday I bought a hand cart for the boxes going to the garage and the paint I need in the living room.
I went to a little market here in town and got eggs, zucchini, tomatoes and an onion for $5! Some days I love how cheap things are here.

Managed to get a few errands done today. I needed to fill up the car as I hadn't since the beginning of April and it was time. Also picked up a few items while out and mailed off an order. I am continuing to keep busy with going through things and adding items to the recycle and donation bins. Also doing a little craft work most days. I am continuing to add items to the etsy shop every other day and will continue to do so for a few more weeks yet. Also trying to stay disciplined enough to follow through with this plan. My friend and I are scheduled for two craft shows thus far but have no idea if they will happen. Time to check on the laundry and to fix lunch. Will need to catch up with all of your activities and posts later.

I was hoping I could move boxes in the middle of the night and NOT die of heat exhaustion... oh well 😐 I don’t recall if I mentioned but I did get the window AC running and it’s cooled the whole first floor (about 1,000 sq ft) so I can actually sleep at night! Today the dogs went to the vet ($$$) to get shots, heartworm and tick/flea prevention and then I went to the city to register them and it was... $2 😂 my old county was $20 per dog per year. I got lunch, picked up my mail, took out the trash, photographed my closet and now I’m hanging up my clothes. The closet set up is 100% temporary because it was poorly planned. Half of the hanging space is 7’ off the ground. I also got the new internet provider set up for Thursday morning and the old equipment boxed up and ready to ship back.

TheO I'm not sure babies that small get carsick, but I could be wrong.
I drove to the mall today, yay! I got a t-shirt for me, a shirt for DH, and a set of bedding I've been wanting for the guest room that finally went on sale. Since DS1/DDIL now use the guest room when they stay rather than DS2's room, their bedding no longer matches the room.
I admit I'm a bit OCD about things like that, but I'd had my eye on it for a while and it was 30% off ($70 to $49) for a king-size duvet cover and 2 pillowcases.
I also did my last faculty class today, I'm now off till 24 Aug.
We have E tomorrow. :-)

startsmart It costs $5 to register a pet here. I don't know why I have not done it. No tag is issued.

startsmart, sounds like things might start going more smoothly for you. Fingers crossed! We have a mobile AC unit in the main room and our bedroom. What a HUGE difference they make. I took an unscheduled mental health day off from work yesterday. Let's just say the kitchen is VERY clean, LOL. As I've mentioned before, when I'm stressed I sometimes go off on an organizing/cleaning streak. Still need to tackle the stove top.
Not much has been purged lately, though I am prepping another egg carton stack to be shipped off to chicken/duck owning friend.

Iggy - I hope things will continue to go more smoothly!
The stove was delivered and installed today, I don't have any pans to cook anything but it's there!
I got most of the living room walls primed and then started with the paint today. There was a weird ledge in part of the room, I think it was for decorative plates. I took that down but it created a lot of dust so I will clean that up tomorrow before finishing the primer.
The POD should be here by tomorrow afternoon and my very modest goal is to bring in the queen mattress and 10 boxes. I made a list of where each box needs to go, since my garage isn't water tight I want to keep a minimum number of boxes in there.

I finally got the pantry finished. All the expired stuff is ready to go in the trash tonight. Each shelf is now organized with a theme.

Great progress wvugirl! I currently have sticky notes all over my kitchen so there’s some semblance of order as I unpack.
Well the POD arrived and the driver even tilted and shook it so everything would shift back from the door. I got the mattress inside as it was blocking the boxes and it looks like most things didn’t fall/break.
I did 3 trips out to the POD to unpack and my hand truck has been very helpful. On the last trip in I was carrying a box when it started to rain so I’m done for the night.
Tomorrow is internet install! And a new client call and an old client call. In between I need to get some laundry done, unpack a few more boxes and set up a post office box.
All in all it’s been a productive week!

I did some box rearranging today. Put the DVDs in the room with my computer and shoved all the book boxes up against the wall in the main front room. My house is going to look quite empty for a few months since furniture purchasing will be infrequent. I do plan to get a baker's rack, of sorts, for the kitchen. Of the permanently installed cabinets, there is, literally, only one drawer. There is another cabinet that has drawers but it's wobbly and I don't trust it. I also don't trust the cabinet that is installed on the wall above that lower one because the back of it is not flush with the wall. I don't know what they did but the top of the upper cabinet leans away from the wall and I feel like if I put anything of any weight beyond Tupperware lids in it, it'll fall off the wall. So...I'm thinking of getting this off Overstock. With the open back, I can put my coffee pot on the counter-height portion, put the coffee bags and stuff on the shelves above that, and use the cabinets with doors as my little pantry. That will free up space in my permanently installed cabinets for other dishes. But, the expense has to wait, being that it's nearly $300 after tax. Thankfully, Overstock partners with Rakutan so I'll be able to get some cash back.

My new normal is that I wake up around 3 or 3:30 am and can't get back to sleep.
I've already done most of the cleaning for the cleaners, who are coming tomorrow.

Well despite the incompetence of the lawyer that had done Dad's Will I have my approval paperwork and with the help of a literal angel/wonderful friend I was able to get copies of the LT so I could sign the tax documents for 2019 yesterday. I still have not heard from the lawyer and just plan on finishing out what needs to be done with the help/assistance of my friend and Dad's tax people. I am very thankful that I do not need to worry about pre-paying the IRS for this year. He didn't come close to making enough for that and at most he might owe a very small amount but it is doubtful. The estate we are still unsure on. I need to phone my tax guy and ask some questions but I can do that next week.
I hadn't been to Dad's for almost 3-4 weeks so I spent a few hours getting groceries and toiletries from Dad's instead of going to the store.
I also started a list for things that need to be fixed before it can go on the market.
I ended up getting spooked when the beeping I was hearing wasn't the smoke detector notifying of a low battery but the carbon monoxide monitor going off. I ended up opening every window and turning on all the fans in the house just to make sure there was no fumes. I need to buy a new monitor along with a few other things in the next week or so. Per what I could find out the monitors last for seven years and than need to be replaced due to the sensors wearing out. Lord only knows how long it has been beeping for.

I forgot I have my brother coming over Saturday to help me put up some Cellular Blinds in the back of my place to get some relief from the sun/heat. Also 2 larger art pieces need 2 people to put on the walls.
I am also hoping to get some assistance in my spare room but am unsure if he is the right person for the task.
There is a small pile for donation that I am going to work on next week and get out of the house. I'm sure as soon as it is gone something else will come up that has to go but I am fine with that.

I really like that cabinet, nidena. Pretty color and practical. TheOtherMe, I hear you. I've been waking up and sometimes have been staying awake. Compounded with the annual wildfire fear, it's no fun. Hugs, snapdragon. That is a lot going on. We had our carbon monoxide alarm go off two winters ago. DH tested it with his work monitor and it went through the roof. Having the windows wide open in the middle of winter was no fun. Thankfully there is such a thing as an alarm for it, though. Been directing my nerves toward dishes, online grocery shopping and meal planning. Eating has been okay, but maybe drinking too much. I do need to visit the treadmill, though.

The waking up way too early has been happening since dad got sick in November. It was just starting to improve when covid hit.

Yay on the pantry WVU!!! Start and Nidena, such great progress!!! TheO do you have any meds you can use to try to "retrain" your body to sleep later? Or maybe try melatonin? I have zero experience with it, but I firmly believe that sleeping well helps immensely with anything! Hugs to you. We went to Paris for lunch with DS2 today ... on the motorcycle. I was very reluctant, it was my first time on since breaking my wrist exactly 5 weeks ago. But I did it! I even made DH take the highway so I could exorcise that fear. I feel a tiny bit less old today lol. Mom brag ... DS3 (who had NO graduation ceremony) found out today that he graduated with a "First" honors degree. (It's the UK equivalent of Summa c.um laude in the US.)

A motorcycle ride sounds PERFECT right about now.
Today the friend came and got the 5 pairs of sunglasses I posted on social media, what, over a month ago? And I finally packaged up a graduation gift to be mailed this evening. More clear space on the office back counter!
Oh, and I neglected to mention the billion or so dust mites I decluttered via vacuum and dust rag Saturday.

Internet is HERE! I got fiber and it is so fast I finished priming in the living room and the paint is up 6’ and I’ll do the rest on the ladder. As soon as the paint all dries I can move the furniture back in. I found a shortcut to unloading the boxes which is to back my truck up to the POD, load in a dozen boxes and then drive around to the garage and unload them. Goes so much faster! I’m going to try to do one more load before it gets too dark. I did not get to the laundry today but it’s still in the truck for tomorrow.

Sorry about the lack of sleep Theo. Sadly, I can now relate. I've just been wandering around the house at night, cleaning and trying to remember what I'm doing. I get a few hours of sleep but not an awful lot. My BIL is taking me to Lowes to look for a new toilet and kitchen faucet. I think at some point in a couple months, we're going to start making lists of things that need to be fixed. Probably first on the list will be replacing doors. I had to take them off for DH's wheelchair but now I need to put them back on. Need a whole new bathroom door frame as I had to rip that out completely.

Empress, I did the same thing after my DH passed away. A lot of some that were simply irritating and others that were in serious need of help. One of the last things I did was ask my neighbor ladies who love to spend money and decorate houses. I gave them $5K and told them to have at it......it was the most fun I'd had in a long time. The house finally looks like it's mine.
All the best as you move forward into your new life.
