TheO I'm so happy you were finally able to spend time with Baby!!! (Does it make me a bad person to imagine how jealous your sister probably is?!)
Yay for the gutters Sharon! I still think you deserve to hire someone for even a day or two. Or else maybe take a few days off work?
Ouch Startsmart on everything you need to do! I get wanting matching curtains ... maybe they'll go on sale? Otherwise, remember that you don't have a mortgage, so you can afford certain items that are important to you. You'll be there for a while! Otherwise maybe find a way to divide the rooms up? I bought 8 inexpensive panels for the LR/DR, and 4 inexpensive panels for the downstairs master. But we splurged on our bedroom curtains last year. Have you looked at Ikea? They have a huge range. Since you sew, you could personalize them.
Nikiz I think all of us have been discombobulated by the pandemic! I certainly have!

After 6 quiet days, DS1/DDIL/E arrived from the UK late last night. DH stayed up, I didn't. We watched E all day today. We made them dinner too, then they went back to their apt. DH and I are POOPED. They'll be back this weekend at some point. At this point I only take painkillers before PT (3X/week), plus a double dose at night (partly not to wake DH). The PT is exhausting, but my mobility has really increased since I started. I'm using the same PT I found DH after his bike crash who specializes in hands. He came to the house for years for DH, so he's a friend at this point. It still hurts like h.ell!!! Tomorrow I have a Xray in the morning, then I see the surgeon in the afternoon. It's a bit too early, but he's leaving on vacation, and we're leaving the day before he gets back. So it was either seeing him a few days early, or 3 weeks too late. Made a podiatrist appt for next week, and a hairdresser appt for the following week. Keeping up with the kitchen and laundry.

Debthaven - the new house is in Kansas! I’ll be 36 this year and it’s all still very surreal to me 😃 of course the house does need work which I am VERY excited to do but I have a lot of dreams and plans. I am super behind on this thread so you might answer it later, but do you want to share where (or PM)? Several of us are in the KC area on both sides of the state line (I’m on the Kansas side). We’ve talked about a meetup before - another person in the area might be the kick in the pants we need to make it happen once we can all safely socialize again. I’m a few hours from KC but plan to be up there at some point to visit family (& IKEA...). We could definitely plan something if we can meet up outside and socially distance Debthaven- I ended up finding some fabric online that I hope will work! If it does I can make 11 panels for only $65 which is so much better than $500. Even though I don’t have a mortgage I’m super cheap lol. I will likely need to splurge on the fence to keep the dogs from running away and get the roof done in a year or so. I did go to the Laundrymat in town this morning and got my clothes all washed and dried for $6. It’s so nice to have options again I may go back to do my sheets and blankets but only if I can get up early because that place is HOT when it’s 90 outside and 4 dryers are going.

I hope you like your new area, startsmart! I grew up about 2.5 hours from KC in the SE corner of the state, have family in Wichita and a couple other small towns in central Kansas, and generally love the whole area, but there are definitely some things that drive me batty about it.

Nephew and niece-in-law's paychecks from Canada are coming to my house in today's mail. I am supposed to deposit them but I don't have an account number. I've sent a text but so far, no response.

Surgeon said I still have a ways to go in both strength and movement, but that I'm doing very well for not even 4-weeks post-op.
I go back again in mid-Sept. I knew a second, later appt was a risk since I booked this one too soon, but I'm fine with that. I showed him what the PT told me to do, and he added another exercise.
I usually catch up with teacher friends in July but I cancelled two lunches. I don't feel comfortable driving 30-40 m away. I'm still pondering the one 20 min away.

Today I picked up another big fan so I don’t have to move one from the living room to the bedroom every day. I cannot WAIT to get the other fans out of my POD.
I also got matching (simple) curtain rods for the first floor, groceries and some household things I needed.
I am returning my toll tracker for the car to California and should get back $30 from my account. Also closing out a consignment account where I had about $80 in sales.
Tomorrow I'd like to get the dog registration complete and apply for my new drivers license and voter registration.
I’ve been slowly removing the baseboards from the first floor and have one more room to go. Most were not nailed in correctly or at all so they’re going to the garage so no one gets injured. This way I can paint all the way down to the floors with the primer.

Sent a text to each of them. Still no response. Sister said the van is packed to the brim. Baby has to stay in his car seat and there isn't any room for anyone to sit in the back seat with him. She predicts he will not be happy. I really hope they don't have problems at the border. The University of Toronto assured them that they won't but this great aunt will worry until they are safely in their Toronto apartment for their 14 day quarantine.

I've been able to empty a few boxes at the house--10-20 of them--but the books, DVDs, and CDs will have to wait until I have shelves to put them on which may not be until 2021. I put all my hope chest stuff back in that and was able to throw away a few things that I really don't see a reason to keep any more.
I'm here at the apartment to sweep, wipe, and vacuum (and use the internet since that doesn't xfer until Monday). Once I leave here today, the only left to move will be the computer on Sunday.

This is another quick drive by post. Everyone seems to be doing well. I am keeping up with the house and doing a little craft work most days. Finished with the medical stuff for a while. Today was blood tests.
Have a great weekend all!

Decluttering-wise, I took 55 items to the Goodwill yesterday. That includes DD#2 & DH doing their own (at my request) clothing purge. At least 25 items have gone in the trash. However, I've purchased quite a bit lately also. Most of that is I was replacing some of what I'd donated. The garage definitely needs a good cleaning, but DD#2 won't go back to college until the week of Sept 8. I'll wait until then to work through there.
We're working on our home improvement projects. DD#1 is here this week painting the front and back decks. She enjoys that work and is good at it. Might as well pay her to do it instead of someone else. We have someone coming out to look at our gates on Tuesday. One needs to be replaced and two others could be replaced if the price is right. We had a landscaper assess a pathway that's no longer draining properly. That pathway has to be replaced which means the part that is attached to it probably does also. We also had them write a separate quote for redoing our fire pit area. We'll see what happens there. We also are having a room built either within our current garage or as a pre-made shed; it will be an exercise room. The person we had start that estimate process (which was done at the beginning of May) hasn't gotten back to us yet now that we have decided how we're going to arrange our finances for it.
Cleaning-wise, DD#1 brought her dogs with her. One of the has black hair, and that is now all over the damn place. I'll wait until they depart to actually cleaning all of that up.
Since nikiz628 brought up planners: DD#2 just got a new one. It's from this company. I'm still using a dotted notebook for a bullet journal. Sometimes I think I want to go back to a formatted planner, but I can't quite find one that suits me.

Busy kind of day because we woke up to a thunderstorm and the dogs refused to go out to pee 🙄 I’ve had to block off access to the front room because they sneak in there and pee and it’s not going to continue. This afternoon I moved everything out of the living room and entryway and washed the walls and began priming. Got a bunch of nails and screws out and tomorrow I’ll test out the first paint color. Exciting news! The “broken” ac unit in the window got plugged in and it works I’m so excited to have cool air flowing, even if the windows are not well sealed. Killed two umbrella wasps today and need to find out how they’re getting in.

If you have their birthdays and mailing address, the bank may let you deposit them. With the account number they sent me, I was able to deposit the checks. I know how much I deposited in CAD. I know the bank will convert it to US dollars. They said they will get a number similar to our SSNs and then they can open a bank account and have their pay direct deposited.

I'm having one of those days that I must set a timer and force myself to work for that amount of time just to accomplish something.

Nephew and his family have crossed the border in to Canada. They will be sleeping tonight in their Toronto apartment and staying there for their 14 day quarantine.
I am so relieved they got through the border. Now they can officially resign on Monday and wait for 14 days to get their furniture and start their life in Toronto.

I’ve been washing walls, priming and testing paint. The very first gray I picked out is a winner so I’ll go pickup a gallon this week (I’m forcing myself to finish priming first!).
The living room is first then the downstairs bedroom. I may need to bump up and prioritize the kitchen depending on when my appliances will be arriving.

I painted this morning, with a little luck the outside of the house, minus the front door, will be done tomorrow. The deck rails and the underside of the deck cover still need to be done but the actual house will be done. The front door probably won't happen until fall. I have the color picked out but my favorite contractor said he knows someone who will spray it and adds a hardener to the paint so it won't get so beat up.
This afternoon I got two crocks of 8 day sweet pickles started. They aren't hard, just stinky. Cucumbers sitting in boiling water isn't my favorite smell and then once the brine is made in a few days the stink factor really cranks up.

Well, it's afternoon now. I did the first two items on my morning list, but I still need to go through my Novell emails. (Novell is the main email program we have at work.) I have 71 emails to go through.

DH and I were invited to close friends for dinner tonight (outside). The H woke up sick so they cancelled. So DH and I went out for lunch (outside) and took a long walk by the river. DH has work, I don't (or barely, ie 1h/week). I'm starting to go a bit crazy. We hesitated but in the end we are going away in a couple of weeks.

Hi Kids! Still got plenty of paperwork to deal with, but I wanted to say "Hi!". I'd hoped to get a lot of it done this weekend. But, DD was here, playing her music, and I didn't want to spoil things for her. She'll be back at work tomorrow, and frankly, it'll probably go better with fewer people in the house, anyway... You'll laugh at one of my future projects. It's going to be 2 years in another month since Bad Boy Puppy passed away, so, I'm on the lookout for another fur baby. Most likely, it won't be right away, but if we find the right dog between now & Christmas, I'll be happy.

I finished the exterior of the house, except for the front door. It feels so good. I still have deck rails and the underside of the back deck cover to do. Because they are attached to the house I don't count them as part of the house, besides I want to say I'm done with something. After I finished painting I did another one of my top most hated jobs. I got down on my hands and knees with a screwdriver and got the gunk and crud out from between the deck boards. Only got the front deck done but that was a good 2 1/2 hours of work. Now I can get it hosed off and use some deck cleaner to attack the mildew etc. Late afternoon I roasted a whole chicken so I have chicken to eat off this week. It is supposed to be hot so that will be nice to have. The paint clothes got washed, they still have a little ways to go before they can be tossed.

My feet hurt. Just took some Tylenol. I cleaned/Decluttered all day yesterday. Working on getting everything off floor of my storeroom. My car is full of stuff for goodwill. I told my Mom earlier I was mad at DH for not helping Me, but that was irrational b/c I always try to declutter when DH is not home b/c he can’t let go of stuff. I made sure I locked my car so DH wouldn’t go through the stuff.

Sounds like baby had a tough drive to Toronto. Nephew said baby never wants to get in a car again.
I am their forwarding address. If they are like me, they don't get much mail and junk mail does not get forwarded.
He said they immediately got the internet set up so they could order grocery delivery. Now they are quarantined for 14 days.
