The kids went away overnight again so DH and I went out to dinner. We went to a local Chinese with outside seating. It felt like an adventure!
We also bought a bigger patio umbrella, the one we had was too small for the bigger table we got two years ago. Whenever we have lunch outside we're all squashed around half the table trying to stay in the shade lol.
I Shitepiled this morning. It had been a while.
Remember the night tables I bought 2 weeks ago for 10 euros, which DS1 said were too big? I had a great idea. This morning DH and I sawed one in half, and cannibalized the other. Now we have 2 adorable smaller night tables. I won't put them in the guest room now to respect the kids' space. I'm delighted with how well they turned out!
ETA: Total cost for the guest room = 52 euros (42 for the totes, 10 for the night tables.)

I emptied the pantry of a bunch of expired stuff. There's still more to take out. I wiped down an empty container that had been in the storage unit and filled it up with K cups. That's now under the table where the Keurig lives. I wrote down a few more steps towards pantry organization.
We hung up a fancy cutting board as decoration in the kitchen.
I found a bathroom storage idea that my DH actually agreed to. He went to Lowe's to look for the shelves.
We are slowly moving along. Bulk trash pickup is this month so we are getting things ready for that and I have to call and set up the pickup.

Yesterday was a crazy day. I had been avoiding Home Depot because there were always so many cars in the parking lot. Yesterday I went really early to get in and out before the crowds. While I was there I was looking at new patio sets. I am giving my old wooden picnic table, which is still in very good condition to DD. She has the family and they could use the larger table. I wanted something smaller. So far it has been hard to find what I was imagining. It was either too small or way to big and expensive. Home Depot had a table that was similar to what I wanted. Then I was going to by some stackable chairs to go with it. Those would be easy to store for winter. I wasn't thrilled with the stackable chairs, thought they were kind of flimsy but thought I could always easily replace those at a later date. While I was waiting for the guy to come back from checking to see if they had the table in stock and where it was I sat in the chairs that came with the same table if you purchased it as a set. That was a mistake they were really comfortable and had a slight rocking motion. I decided to upgrade. Then the nightmare begins. Customer service couldn't figure out how to get them delivered to my house. We spent quite a while trying to get this figured out. They never did. I finally got mad and said I would just take them with me. Customer service couldn't figure out how I could pay for the set because the guy was still getting the fork lift driver to get the set down from the overhead shelving. He needed something to scan, he couldn't possibly pull it up on the computer and pay that way. I finally am going to go to my car and take the hose and new house numbers I purchased to the car. The guy working with the fork lift driver told me where to move my car and meet him in that area. Car moved and another whole bunch of waiting around. The fork lift got the set down then they had to find a pallet jack to move the set to my car. Go to pay at the regular register and the gal could pull the set up, without scanning, and I could pay that way, imagine that. Then my credit card declined. She said they had been having issues with that reader. Get another credit card and we are back on track. The table won't quite fit in the car. Finally the guy takes it out of the box and it would stand up behind the front seats. Over 2 hours later I finally leave the store. The two hours started when I started dealing with customer service, not when I entered the store. It shouldn't take 2 hours to buy an outdoor table and chairs.
Once I get home I have to unload the pieces for the chairs out of the box in the back because that box weighed about 130lbs. The table is assembled and the chairs are about half assembled.
ETA: Called the credit card company when I got home they said it was declined because they felt the chip reader was trying to clone my chip. After speaking with them they unlocked my card.

My house is still in utter chaos. The move in date for the girls has been moved up to July 1due to ongoing renovations at their new place. The dining room is an overwhelming mess of packed items. I thought it would be a good staging area when they were meant to be gone this weekend. Instead it's an anxiety inducing nightmare.
I have random bags of donation items scattered around the house. I where ever they fit. I'm hoping to pass them on to a friend who works with disabled adults. Please let her be free to pick them up this week.
I did get my largest kitchen cabinet emptied, purged and reorganized yesterday. I donated a bunch of spices to the girls' move, tossed a bunch of old ones and put things where I want them and can reach them. I actually have empty space. Death to the first person who fails to put things away properly. I'm tired of climbing up to reach things!
I'm currently taking a break from cleaning in my bedroom. I see a whole bunch more clothes that I'll be shuffling out the door but I'm reluctant to start pulling anything else out of drawers and closets. At least at the moment they aren't adding to the clutter.
Work has been mentally and physically draining which means that I often come home, look around and take a beer to the backyard, reminding myself that it won't always be this way. It's hard to find the motivation to do even basic cleaning when it's in such an uproar.
Some return to normalcy in my home and in the world would be most welcome.

I feel for you! I have 3 at home, 1 partially moving out in july and the rest of the way in September, 1 moving out in September, and 1 here for the next 2 years. They have been great about trying to keep things contained but our house is small and their bedrooms are tiny (2 share a room also). I love you all but please spread your wings for good!

I have managed a fairly productive day, although I don't have a lot to show for it.
Cleaned Lucy's box, took a shower, emptied dehumidifier, backed up computer and installed a huge Windows update.
I am hoping to scan some photos later, but it may not happen until tomorrow.
Backing up the computer took a bit longer than usual because my sister sent me some family pictures that were taken at the luncheon after my dad's funeral. I can't believe how drawn and exhausted I look.
I can now see that my body is doing better than it was back then.

My neighbors niece picked up my furniture this morning.....it was difficult to see it go since it mainly belonged to my late DH. I only charged them $200 but the niece is a young college girl that needs her first apartment and at least now she has furniture and, bedding and a bed. After that, I went into DHs bedroom and starting dusting the tile floor and got ready to figure out where my sewing room plan was going to be. It took a few hours, but I love the way it turned out, and was able to sit in there for awhile this afternoon.
I've been invited to go sit by a lake later today and then watch the sunset.....can hardly wait....good company is always nice, right?

I scanned 70 photos. The labeling is the time consuming part because not all of the photos are marked with who is in them.

You're getting so much done wvugurl26 ! Ugh Sharon , that sounds so frustrating. But I'm sure you'll enjoy your new furniture! Please let her be free to pick them up this week.Malarky , would it be worth dropping them off at her place to get them out of the house? Otherwise, July 1 is just around the corner! I'm glad your body is feeling better TheOtherMe . I'm not surprised, you were so distraught and exhausted. Blonde Granny it sounds like those items went to a good home at a very reasonable price. Enjoy your new sewing room! stillmovingforward I understand lol. We went from just DH and I to DH and I, DS1/DDIL/grandson and DS3. DDS2 and his GF stay here regularly too. So from 2 to 6-8 people at home overnight. DS1/DDIL/E may move into a rental in July. They're young, they'd rather be in Paris. They found an apt 20 min away, direct train line. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/heart.png) With COVID they are rethinking going back to the US, because of the distance from family. If they stay longer term they want their own space and regular childcare. We're offering to keep E 2-3 days a week. DS3 is looking for a job. It's hard for a new grad in a pandemic. He may be here long term. I hope not (for his sake!) because he wants to live/work in the UK. I suggested going straight to grad school instead but he wants a break, especially if school's online.

Today turned out ok. I went on strike with regards to painting and refused to paint today. Since the rain is coming back in and Mom's surgery is Tuesday I will probably regret this but I needed some time off from painting.
I did sell the large AC unit that had been in my wall, the money in my wallet takes up a whole lot less room. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) I also finished assembling the new patio set. The chairs were a challenge but I managed to work through it and get it done. DD said they would probably pick up the picnic table some time this week. Late afternoon I did some yardwork, aired out the trailer, and got the garbage/waste baskets all emptied. Tonight I even cooked a real dinner, something I need to do more often, garlic/herb chicken with red potatoes and onions. Then I also added some green beans. Best part there are lots of leftovers.

I got things out on Friday! So thankful to get those few feet back. I have already started another box for donation. Yesterday I was able to recycle some lightbulbs and get those gone also. Than I must confess -- I have a few more pieces of furniture arriving. I ordered a white chair with a matching ottoman that fits under the seat. And both are on rollers! And I also ended up buying a new nightstand to replace mine which is really beat up and has not worked well for me for the last 5 years or so. So my plan is to shift the dining room table back into place and than work on my bedroom and get it cleaned up and ready for the new nightstand. Hopefully I can get a few more boxes donated this coming weekend. Oh -- I almost forgot I was able to drop signed paperwork with the lawyer last week so there is some movement on Dad's estate.

Hello everyone! debthaven , glad you found a way to utilize the night tables. wvugurl26 , bathroom storage is so important! Similar to you, in the kitchen we have what I call a beverage station on one of the smaller counters which includes our Keurig, blender, straw container, etc. Sharon , not sure I would have lasted that long at the store without walking out. Glad your card got unlocked. And congrats on selling the AC unit! snapdragon , sounds like you had a productive day. Congrats on the new furniture. My weekend included getting sawdust in my bra while cutting an old fence into fire pit size, and unclogging a sink. DH is still in his sling, and will continue with limited movement for several more months. I thanked him for dong these types of things all these years without my help. And the sink? It was even more disgusting than snaking the toilet, IMO. On the bright side, while prepping to do the sink, I cleared out the contents in the cupboard underneath, tossed a few things, put several things into the Goodwill box, and relocated two other items. It looks much better now. Next up: Clean the hair dryer filter at a time when I'm not rushing to get to work.
I spent some time in my home office to search for old pictures for a few projects and realized I really need to organize/purge them and old cards, etc. I used to be diligent at putting pictures chronologically into photo albums, labeling them, etc. Photos that are 15 years old to current are in disarray in two photo storage boxes.

I just finished scanning the last 50 photos from this album. These mostly did not have names on the back so I will have to post them to FB so my older cousins can help. I need to see if my sister wants me to put the photos back in the album or in storage boxes. I hope she says storage boxes and not the album. Iggy aka IG A couple of weeks ago, I took a snake to my bathtub drain because it was draining so slowly. I could not believe what came out of the drain. No wonder I was standing in water when I showered.

No wonder I was standing in water when I showered. And I know it's not just us! I Googled on how to avoid it for the future. So gross. We had the exhaust fan on and the window open during the process. DH and I are both the oldest child, and we don't work well together on these projects because we both want to be the director, LOL. I actually had to pull the drain stopper, remove the drain pipe, etc. and had to ask DH to call the sink parts by description, not name as I'd never done something like this before. First world problems indeed.

I finally got around to inviting people to my FB sale group AND listed items. I've unloaded about $60 worth of clothing and misc. so far. I need to go in the basement because I have several things that are brand new in boxes that I can list. It's a pain in the butt taking all the pics, but its still easier (and safer right now) than a yard sale.

I went home last night and started pulling more things for donation. I also started just throwing stuff away. I am to the point that IDGF and I just want things to be more centered and calming. So I just need to get stuff/things gone and out of my sphere of control.
Moving the DR table back in place is next on the list along with clearing the clutter I have accumulated along the walls in the bedroom. My plan is to have things written up and donated by the end of the week. Just getting it gone will increase my happiness I think. It wont be everything but every bit out is less I have to deal with later.
Earlier in the SAHO I just really did not have the mental capacity to really try and deal with things. I had Dad and the Kitchen Reno and Work and I just could not add another thing to my plate without cracking a bit so I left things off or undone so I could just survive and go through the motions of not having a complete freak out in the meantime.
But I plan on having 2 of my best friends over on the 3rd of July so we can have a meet up and not have to worry about things. I am cooking a meal and there will be beverages and snacks and dessert so I want my main areas at least passable.
I am not attempting to work in the spare room right now but that is on the agenda coming up. Just not for a bit. Dad's paperwork is being dropped off with the court this week so I will need to work on getting his place ready for selling. My plan is to have it on the market by the end of July or early August.

nidena, I hear you! The internet is currently a bit overwhelming. nikiz628, congratulations on unloading the items thus far! snapdragon, part of your post really resonated with me. I didn't realize how much the state of things were effecting me subconsciously. So glad you have the opportunity to see your friends over the holiday weekend.

I talked to my sister about the photos. She agreed I can put them in labeled boxes.
I told her the plastic pages in the old albums are not helping preserve the photos.

So Saturday we are decluttering DS1/DDIL/E. We are a bit sad but we are happy to have spent so much time with them, and we understand that they want their own space. They got a great deal on an AirBnB, since nobody is travelling. They'll be just 20 minutes away and we'll be keeping E two days a week (to save on childcare costs), so we'll still see plenty of them.

I am not sure why Dnephew1 keeps telling me his wife is "recovering" from childbirth.
She posted a photo on Instagram today doing yoga. She was happy because she finally accomplished being able to do the splits.

My internet has been going off frequently for the past few months, and I was pretty sure it was the modem. I went to the cable company today and swapped it for a new one, which I then had to install and register. I was on hold with the cable company for an hour waiting to talk to someone in tech support about registering my new modem. (This was after I had been talking to someone and gotten disconnected). While sitting around waiting, I saw a bin full of stuff that I had emptied out of my old computer desk and hutch over 5 years ago, and figured that if I hadn't needed this stuff for 5 years, I could probably get rid of most of it. I made a pretty good dent in it before the tech finally got on.

Good morning, everyone! Second day of my summer break. Which means I only go to work about 15 hours this week. Yesterday was a four-hour-at-work day. Tuesday was only a one-hour-at-work day. Wednesday was a two-hour-at work day. Thursday and Friday are both four-hour-at-work days.
Started the summer purging process. I generally count donations and major trash stuff. I don't count paper-type trash or just pieces of stuff that should have been already thrown out.
Still plodding along on the deep cleaning list.

I bought new lights for the patio columns, aka finally finishing off this project 2 years later. Those are awaiting the column attachment piece and my brother to go back to his reduced work schedule in July.
The new patio tables showed up this week. Those were assembled yesterday and the boxes are at the curb for recycling pick up this morning.
The backyard is finally almost done except for rebuilding the deck. More dirt went down and grass seed was put down again. DH has done a lot of work back there and it's looking nice.
I'm still plugging away at the pantry. And I finally have some ideas for my bathroom. I was able to make one guest room decent last night on short notice.
Goodwill is closed to donations every time I think about getting my stuff together. I'm trying to find alternative places. It's a struggle.

Mom's surgery went well and she is coming home today. My niece will be there during the day and I will spend the nights there for a while. DD and I are having a garage sale this weekend. Hopefully it will mean a lot of things gone. We probably shouldn't have gone ahead with the sale but I just wanted a bit of normalcy, or doing something I wanted to be doing, in my life. Taking care of two households is killing me. Yesterday at lunch I ran over to Mom's to roll back the garbage cans, check the mail etc. I found that her laundry hamper was overflowing so I brought home two garbage bags of laundry. Thank goodness for working from home because I could keep the laundry moving while working. After work I painted for 3 hours. Then I got caught up on picking my raspberries and strawberries. After that it was a quick run to the store for a few things. Then I loaded up the clean laundry, Mom's grocery things, some raspberries and headed back over to Mom's to drop them off. Then it was home to empty the dishwasher, have some dinner, and get the kitchen back in order. As I was typing this all out I decided that my life was pretty pathetic if I considered a garage sale a couple days off from working.
