The back of the car has donations and as soon as work is over I am hustling over to donations so they are out of my hair. I got the trash taken out along with the recycle last night. So forward this weekend to clearing out my bedroom for the new nightstand that will be here Tuesday. debthaven - Good thoughts on a fast surgery and speedy recovery.

Hello hello!
I’ve been back in California about a week now, stuck in the hell of coordinating a move. I will probably be on the road by 4th of July and then in my new home shortly after. The house is great but needs a LOT of love and work. I’m working to prioritize repairs so I can hit the ground running when I move in.
Here’s my pre-move checklist: - get the truck running, smogged and registered - sell my Toyota - pack up everything from house #1 - pack up everything from house #2 - get the dogs vaccinated, heart worm pills and nails trimmed - book a truck or POD for the move - forward my mail (again) - update all of my accounts with the new address - organize plumber and electrician to meet me for quotes - arrange for the $ transfer (wire or certified check)

congrats on finding a house startsmart! i am very happy the surgery is done but i can't drive for a month, which is a huge pita. a nurse will come to do my dressing every 2 days. i start pt in 3 weeks, 3 times a week. i fell over one of e's toys last week but i just got a bad bruise. i am absolutely terrified of falling again. the kids pick up all of e's toys every evening but obviously a house w a 3yo is going to have toys lying around. i feel old

Sharon, that is great news about your mother. And I got tired just reading what all you've been up to! Hope you have some down time this weekend. debthaven, sorry to hear about your wrist and glad the surgery has already taken place. Sorry you are unable to drive. Ugh. Great job purging items, everyone! Congratulations on the new home, startsmart! As you know, it is a lot of work, but worth it upon completion. It's DH's BD today. I hid a few cards throughout the house which he'll eventually find because presents won't be here until Monday apparently. I just took him out to lunch since he was in town for PT today. Tomorrow is our annual solstice not-his-birthday party, so it will be nice to see everyone. I'm making a flag cupcake cake, and bought a few red white and blue strings of lights to add to the ones we already have on the lower party deck. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.

debthaven I have tripped on Lucy's toys. Luckily, I have ended up breaking a couple of them. It's usually if I have to go to the bathroom during the night and I don't turn the lights on. That is also when I have stepped on her tail because I can't see in the dark. I hope the kids can help you this weekend. Sorry you can't drive for so long. I've been there and it's not fun. Happy birthday to your DH Iggy aka IG

I used up a couple bottles of lotions and potions this week. As I was laying in bed, I realized that there are a few things in the boxes that I'll be unpacking in a few weeks that can probably go to Goodwill or something. One is this large yarn blanket that my former best friend's mom made me years ago. I never use it because it's such a loose weave that my toes poke through in places. So I see that going. I have a couple sheet sets, too. One is too small for my current mattress set and the other is too scratchy for me to tolerate. It was soft before I washed it but now it's not. I've heard bamboo sheets are great for temperature control. I wonder if they're itchy.
I'm going to also try to eat up what I have and buy minimums in food just so that I don't have to lug it to the new place. I don't mind going grocery shopping once I get there. It's just that I've already hauled these groceries in from the doorstep or from the store once already. Thankfully, the new house comes with all the appliances so I don't need to buy any new ones, not even a washer or dryer.

debthaven -- I'm glad your surgery went well and I hope you heal quickly!
I am continuing to clean out stuff that we don't use in the "guest bedroom" so we can actually have guests stay in it again. I'm down to check the air mattresses to see if they work, if they do, I keep them. If not, out they go.
I also need to go through a box of stuff from my childhood that my mom gave me. Once that is done, I'm organizing all of my Christmas bags, tissue paper, etc into the bins we did not need for our gear room project. I'm also contemplating painting the guest bedroom to a lighter shade. The color I chose last summer, I'm now realizing is darker than I want.
I have one more coat of paint to put on a side cabinet and I need to finish some trim and the gear room painting will be done.
DH finished the "east flower bed", complete with a garden wall and lot of mulch. We already planted arborvitae to serve as a natural screen from our neighbors yard and now I have to think about the other bushes that I want to plant.

i'm glad your mom's surgery went well sharon happy late birthday to your dh iggy it's my non-dominant hand saveinla but i'm learning how often you need two hands congrats on nearly finishing the gear room and the guest room paynointerest i've been sleeping a lot because of the painkillers (tramadol) ironically wed night i went through the top drawer of the kitchen buffet and created space... turns out, just enough space for my bandages/dressings. the nurse came to change the dressing today, she'll come every other day for the next few weeks. showering this morning was an adventure but i did it. kids are moving tomorrow but we'll have E two days a week. i'm a lot less fun now i'm working very little but i didn't want to cancel (i did postpone till later in the week). i have about 2h of editing to do before Thurs, and 2.5h of zoom classes. i'll start the editing on Mon.

Everyone is working so hard! I've been a slacker this past week. I did work more on the bin from my old desk and got rid of paperwork and a few things. I also found some cash and a couple of gift cards. One is $50. for Disney. We have reservations to go in November, so it'll get used then.

Oh my word, debthaven! I miss some days here, and you end up needing surgery. Sending prayers & good wishes for quick healing. Not much to report here, as we're still unpacking. Things are still opening up here very slowly. We may have found some bedroom furniture for DS yesterday (furniture stores are opening up, but many still aren't delivering inside of homes, but this one does), but when DH gets home from work, we're going to do some measuring together to make sure what we picked out will fit.

Finally finishing painting my trim. There are a couple areas I'm going to wait on like behind the washer and dryer. You can't see it and I really don't want to take them out and have to reinstall them. We'll probably wait til we replace them and finish the painting then.
Now I'm moving on to the pantry. I'm going to add extra drawers and shelves. It's going to be a lot of work because I have to take everything out including all the current shelves and patch and paint the wall where the old screw holes are. I can do it myself, but hubby says he will help me if I want him to. Once I get that done I have to paint the trim in there, another area I skipped lol.
I told hubby I'm sure glad we didn't buy an old house that needed a lot of work hahaha.
Had a great Father's Day and hope you all did, too.

it's slow going chloe but it takes time
DS1/DDIL/E left this morning. DH and DS3 have dentist appts and are going for lunch. A will pop in but frankly I'm looking forward to a bit of quiet.
I'm washing sheets and towels now. happily ds1 did their sheets the other day. We're leaving the guest room and DD's room as is because im sure they'll stay over sometimes.

Donations were dropped off but there was close to a 1 hour wait in the drop off car line. My new TV cabinet was delivered early -- I say delivered but what I mean is FedEx left the package at the bottom of the stairs to my condo. I was lucky and a neighbor basically handled it up the stairs and finished delivering it. It took my brother and I about 3.5 hours to get it together but I am really liking it. I am really hoping the rest of my furniture is truly dropped at my door. Everyone take care. I am sending healing hugs out.

debthaven -- So sorry to read about your surgery. Hope that each day is a little better. Glad that you have had time with your children and E and that they will be in the area for a little longer. Sharon -- Glad to read that your mom's surgery went well. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well. You will be on no use to her or your DD if you get ill. snapdragon -- Glad that you have managed to get things out of the house. Boo on the hour's wait. startsmart -- Happy that you have found a house and hope that you have a safe journey to it. Keep us informed as to your progress. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- You are on break. Take some time for you. I love how you used a curtain rod to hang the photos in your office. Great idea and so easy to do. Iggy aka IG -- I am sure that the party was great and that your DH had a great birthday. nidena -- Great idea to use up whatever you can before you have to move. Less things to move is always the better. Plus the bonus that you will not be spending on other things to eat during that time. I am sure that there were more comments I want to make but can't remember them now. Dryer just buzzed so I will be back in a bit to update some things. See ya!

Okay I'm back. Today has been a rainy one so the walk I intended to take this morning was scrubbed. Instead I started on laundry and managed to get two loads finished. Also cleaned the bath.
On the whole the house is in good order. Dishes are done daily as I still have not replaced the broken dishwasher. No desire to go in a store and look for a replacement right now. It is only me and I can wash the few dishes I use daily. Sometime in the distant future I will go shopping for one.
I have been adding things to the donation box and almost have box #2 finished. Once I have 3 boxes done I will call for a pickup. It is slow going but any progress is good. Several of the daily online chores were done as well. I let my Etsy shop go remote for a while so I am now trying to get things renewed, new items added and in general get it back in shape. Goal is to update at least one item every other day. That gives me some time to make changes to the item description. Also decided that I will offer free shipping on everything. I rarely make a sale but it doesn't hurt to put in the effort and it is affordable if I only do several monthly. Plus I think more people will be shopping online this coming year. Major disadvantage is that there is a lot of items to sort through to even find what one's wants.
Last week I managed to get my hair trimmed. Decided that I liked the longer length but needed the trim. It was good to get out and we both had our masks on. Plus the area was wiped down before and after my visit. Definitely felt safe there. I have been going to the same person for years and she works in a room by herself so no fear of a lot of people to come into contact with.

I will be getting my hair cut tomorrow. I am going to my sister's regular beautician. She has a shop in her home and she is the only one. We will both wear masks. I am her first appointment of the day.
I just can't bring myself to go to Great Clips. Too many people working and too many customers.

CCL - I just bought a big house that needs a lot of work! It’s okay if I view it as a marathon and not a sprint.
I am slowly packing the POD, I did 30 min but it was 90 degrees out there and I overheated fast. Resting now and will try to do more before bed. I did get the biggest piece of furniture in so that’s good. I will pick up some rope to secure things and keep marking off what has gone in so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m also just grateful I’m not in the hospital! I got stung by a bee Saturday and there was a good chance I’d go into shock. I got Benadryl and ice and topical ointment on it immediately and while it still hurts I did not need the EpiPen or the ER.
ETA: I can add 1 item to my declutter total! My brother came by with his kids to bring me ice cream (which itself was weird!) and I have him my spare vacuum that I couldn’t donate when covid hit and goodwill shut down. He’s happy with it and I have 1 less thing to pack!

i managed to do the editing yesterday (including capital letters). there are 2 plugs on the same wall of the guest room that haven't worked for ages. since that room is being used, i called the electrician. no answer but hopefullly he'll call back. the nurse said my forearm is too bruised and swollen so i need to ice it more. ds3 found a sling that's more comfortable and also big enough for a cold pack. i cleaned and rearranged the freezer, it was a mess from stuffing things anywhere they fit. (ds3 carried the drawers for me.)

CCL, how did the pantry turn out? snapdragon, congratulations on the new TV cabinet! And, holy smokes, an hour wait for drop off... That IS a lot of progress, moneysquirrel! And, I agree with you that more people will be shopping online this year. startsmart, hope you're doing well today. Being overheated can be a scary thing. Glad your DH found a sling for you, debthaven. DH's party went well. I made breakfast burritos for everyone around 2 AM Sunday, and everyone left just after 3. I didn't get much done Sunday afternoon, lol. Last night DH and I made more hummingbird food, and put up the hummingbird feeder a neighbor gave him for his BD. This one makes three. They are an interesting critter to watch for sure, and who knew there are so many different species?
I'm headed to the big city today, and will drop off a box at Goodwill, and an empty toner cartridge at the office supply store. I'm also going to see niece2 to teach her an enchilada recipe that I learned from a college roommate. My niece heading to university this fall, and it will be nice for us to spend some time together.
