TGIT! I'm done with work till Wed but now on intensive E duty, which is much more tiring than teaching. DS2 and DD (who don't live here) were here all day. DD helped enormously with E but as happy as I was to see DS2, he was one more working adult sharing our limited bandwidth and speaking too loudly lol. At one point DS1 forgot to use the further bathroom during my class and all my students giggled at seeing him disappear and reappear behind me. Poor DS3 gave up and went to his Gdmother's apartment in Paris for 3 days to finish his last paper in peace. I'm working 8h next week over Wed/Thurs/Fri. I know 8h is nothing but it's stressful with everybody at home and trying to be downstairs because the WIFI is better downstairs. It's been OK till now because the weather has been great and 2 people have been in the garden. But the weather has turned for about a week, and with the cold/rain, literally everyone is inside downstairs and fighting for space/bandwidth. It's VERY stressful. DS1 pointed out that our internet box (we have fiber) is 3YO, and that's why it doesn't work that well. He's right, but standing on line at the phone store at the mall is NOT a priority. I can't send him, they only deal with the people on the account. Maybe one day. This weekend- work out summer term marks so far/Thurs- call accountant AGAIN/Fri - call internet company - DH (to see if they'll send a more recent box) I see a very charming screen play here - if you've got a creative bent right now

hello friends in chores and organizing....I've been avoiding this thread for a while.
things have spiraled a little for me personally, and need to regroup. I need to rally the troops and get together a master plan for getting the house and grounds in order for an inspection to refi the property, and get max money out for some major repair work. It is difficult for me to take on a large amount of additional debt in my current frame of mind financially, but it is necessary.
It's going to be a fair amount of work to feel like the inspection will bring top estimates, and I may need to get a few things done prior to the inspection for best results. Some tree removal/trimming, basic repairs, storage and organizing in basement, attic, and garage are really needed..
But meanwhile - things are still difficult following the death of our family friend. DD is lending a lot of support, and I'm on call to help figure out the financial side of things, and I don't think DD is going to be able to help with much here. She's been a real support, cooking food, doing errands, etc.
Meanwhile, I'm looking at things with fresh eyes following this loss, what friend's children are going through, and wanting to get my side in order so easy any issues if I were to go suddenly. I don't want to leave a lot for my kids to deal with in case anything were to happen to me and add on to the emotional burden. Want to set things up financially as well as physically. And that serves multiple purposes as well - inspection, refinancing, even downsizing, all made much easier.
I have a writing group meeting this afternoon, and this is my last weekend with library access, so I think I need to focus on writing - just finding a bunch of potential articles for later use - and also for the few days next week continue searching - and then I can focus more on the other things. But realize I only have about 6 months for my research to be current with the sources I find.
For today, prior to writing group meeting - Kitchen - up to specs DR table declutter 1 hour front gardening 1 hour back gardening
Will see how far I get on that listing. DS has already done the mowing front and back today, so that's done.
Tomorrow - develop master plan leading up to inspection, prioritize, and get started.

I haven't been on much but I'm so sorry about your friend Rukh. DH had a tiny fall off the bike and scraped his elbow last Sat. Not worth mentioning. But it got infected, so after me begging him to go to urgent care for 2 days, his GP sent us there last night. DH's fever is down but he has an appt with an orthopedic surgeon for Mon morning. I guess they may operate to clean it out. He's better today, the antibiotics have kicked in, so we're hoping he won't need surgery. DS1/DDIL/E are away overnight to spend time just the 3 of them (and give us a break). As much as we love having them, it's not a bad thing, especially after last night. We didn't get home from the clinic until 1 am. I just ordered dinner from Uber Eats for the third time in 60 years because we're exhausted and DS3 has been craving Steak and Shake. Needless to say I never called the accountant or the phone company. Today I ran the dishwasher, did laundry, went for a waxing + haircut, and took a long nap. I told the hairdresser, I had a terrible hairdresser during lockdown. She said, I know, one night you drank a bit too much and did it yourself. I said how did you know?! She said you are not the only one. LOL. It looks much better now, but keeping the mask on for that long was difficult. I need a color but didn't want to wear the mask for that long. She told me when I go back for a color she'll put a chair outside for me so I can take my mask off while the color sets. They were closed for 2.5 months so I gave them all a larger tip than usual. My hairdresser owns the salon, and employs her sister for the beauty treatments. They've been working 7 days a week since lockdown ended.

Sorry about the loss of your friend Rukh O'Rorke. One of this type of loss prompted us to do our wills and other legal documents a few years ago. Hope your DH feels better soon debthaven. In our adventure in decluttering today, we were searching for a document that we had misplaced. That led to us finding a stash of things to be mailed to DH's niece and great niece. So one bag has been cleaned out. We also found a few shirts of DH that he had wanted to donate, so he is now going through his closet to give me all the stuff that he does not want. Like Nastywoman says - looks like some accidental decluttering happened today, but I am happy with what I can get.

I do hope your DH will not need surgery debthavenI found someone to make a memory bear out of mom's sweatshirts for me. Now I have to find the tote where I put them. I don't have any of dad's shirts. I wish I did.

startsmart -- Safe travels and I hope you find your new abode. debthaven -- Sorry to read about your DH's fall. Hope that the treatment remains minor. Take care of yourself as well. TheOtherMe -- Like the idea of a memory bear. Rukh O'Rorke -- Completely with you about trying to make things easier for your kids. That is one of the reasons I am trying to got through things and donate what I can. I still have too much stuff but am not bringing in more items than I am getting out. When my DH passed out local library received several hundred of his books. I have been slowly donating some of the ones I had prior to the shutdown and will start back when things start getting more back in order. nikiz628 -- I have a place for all of those little bit and drabs and have been using them as well. I do keep one or two in case I need to spend the night somewhere and I need to bring my own items. I have one craft retreat like that. Otherwise I use them up.

Thanks for all the warm wishes when I paid off my car. It was my only loan and was driving me crazy to have it. Glad that now I only have the monthly usual expenses to deal with. Think that the few years working in the credit department of a local department store taught me a lot about carry debt. Feeling sorry to tell customers that they could not get a higher limit on their store card or that the credit manager would not approve their application had made me leery of ever carrying debt if I could avoid it.
Today has been busy as I spent a lot of it in preparation for the visit tomorrow of Cristobal. Have started to see the effects of a little more wind and an occasional feeder rain bands. Should be coming ashore tomorrow so I spent this morning with the following.
*getting the rest of the laundry done *moving all of the plants closer to the house and corralling them with the lawn chairs *making sure that all electronics are at 100% charged. Even the dead computer as I can recharge the phone with it if needed. *making potato salad *moving the door decoration into the garage for the duration -- just in case -- so I don't have to search the block in case if flew off. *filed the pile *usual chores *organizing several areas *batteries in emergency radio and in portable fan
I think that the storm will be mainly rain with some wind but I always like to be as prepared as possible. If I can maintain power then a lot of these preparations would be not be needed but it is better to be over prepared than under. We are currently under tropical storm warning. Currently in the predicted cone.
Will be checking in when I can. Stay safe all.

I am doing what I like to a couple of times in the summer. But I picked a hot day. I got my wringer washer out and tubs and am washing sheets from our beds and a couple of blankets plus throw rugs.
I decided to rinse the blankets in the inside washer as I don't think I got the soap out in the tubs. Also they don't wring dry, one is wool and one is synthetic, but I do want the wool one to dry! I want them to spin as much water out as possible. I love the smell of bedding hung outside. My camera battery is run down and I can't find the charger, sigh. I will take one with my phone but so far it won't download to my computer. It should is a simple process. I did an upgrade so maybe it will. In here cooling off between loads, its HOT out there!
And I washed my car, it wasn't very dirty but the inside needs cleaned out also. I am afraid I am overdoing it, hope not.

Oh, I hope your DH heals without any further intervention, debthaven. Rukh O'Rorke, you sound like me, making a list when it all gets to be too much. And the goal of cutting back on Stuff while you can is very worthwhile.

We have some adorable Mickey ear bottles from Disney (they no longer give these in the rooms because they put in refillable wall dispensers). I was hesitant to use them up because they are so cute, but then I realized- DUH- I can totally keep a couple to refill with our products when we travel. 🤦🏽♀️

I have gotten a lot done but need to do soooo much more.
I washed my car need to clean the inside. I have 2 shelves in the lawn shed to clean, I washed the outside door down on it today. Hubs needs to take one box out of the garage so I can clean the garage floor and straighten.
I washed all the throw rugs, tomorrow want to mop before putting them back down.
I need to go through a box of Xmas lights so I can donate for our tree lights on the bluff at Xmas. I have 6 new boxes to donate also, was in the process of switching to all LED's. I think they work but sure some are burned out, used to decorate 300 ft of fence on our property in Texas. No fence in front to do it here.
I want to start in the basement and get rid of more stuff.

Hi everyone, We had our official last day of school on Thursday and teachers were able to check out on Friday. I still have one teacher who needs to check out. The office staff and I will work through next Friday. We normally work through the end of June and take off the month of July. As the governor's not decided what school looks like in the fall, we anticipate coming in to work late in July to figure out how to meet whatever the requirements turn out to be.
I'll start my summer deep cleaning and purging process. Summer 2019 was a slow go with that because I had some surgeries and then switched jobs.
I do have a project list for the upcoming school year also. I'll post those master lists when they're ready so I can make sure I keep checking off even the tedious chores!

Inspired by this thread, my plan today is to gather up all my random hygiene/beauty products in the house to see what I’ve not used up (including travel sized items). My goal is to not have to purchase these items for the next month or two by using up the half used items. I’ll post what I find later. I just finished up two travel size items. Who'da thunk that would take so long? lol. I also chucked a bunch of facial mask samples. I used one of them and it became evident it was no longer useful so I felt no remorse chucking the others. Unfortunately, I still have three half-used shampoo bottles and two half-used face washes in the shower. I plan for at least one of each to be gone by the time I move next month.

Here is what I found in random bath items today:
Full Size Products- all partially used 2 Shampoo 3 Conditioner 1 Hairspray (brand new, i got it from my SIL as a Christmas gift- totally forgot) 1 Mousse 1 Sea Salt Texturizing Spray 2 Leave in Conditioning Treatments (same exact items, going to marry the bottles) 4 Lotions (1 brand new)
Travel Sized Products- mostly unused, some partially used 3 Face Washes 24 Shampoo 18 Conditioner 1 Body Wash 15 Bars of Soap 2 Lotions
This should really last us several months, which will be great for my grocery budget!
I also found several sunscreens partially used (and still new enough to be effective). I will work on emptying these out before I get more. I was able to purge a can of spray on sunscreen today! Also tossed a few items I didn't need.
Purge count to date: 1,175/1,000 items

We have spurts when we are staying in hotels all the time. I had quite the collection of sample stuff from those. It’s finally winding down because I stopped buying body wash and lotion for the house and shampoo/conditioner for the trailer to use it all. We always have several suncreen bottles all over. I have incredibly fair skin and burn easily--like within ten minutes of being outside. So, I have a bottle in the house, in my purse, in each car, in the trailer, in my office, one in each daughter's purse, etc. etc.
DH insists on having at least two deodorants stockpiles for himself. 🙄

Chloe - buy UV shirts. Really, it's worth it. It takes some getting used to wearing a long sleeve shirt in hot weather but you don't get as hot and you don't burn. Be careful if you are that fair!

OMG Chloe LOL. DH is worse today. He slept all day, he only came down for dinner. (It's Mother's Day, all the kids were here, DS2 cooked an AMAZING dinner.) The fatigue could be the codeine, but it looks like the infection is moving up his arm. Tomorrow morning's appt can't come soon enough. I emailed the accountant (yet again) but the slow internet box is off my radar for now. I'm working 8h Wed-Fri this week. Given all my lost hours/income due to Covid I don't want to lose any more hours, but my friend/colleague P can replace me on Thurs if needed. Then Job 2 is over till Sept, so my hours go down again. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/sad.png) Keeping up with work/laundry/kitchen but that's all.

Debt that sounds scary. Can you take him to an urgent care if redness moving up arm? I had a leg injury that did that and they said I waited too long to go in. Hope he improves.

Hi Kids! DD has been a huge help today, unloading boxes of kitchen items. Now comes the fun part--trying to figure out where it all will go. debthaven, if it looks like that infection is still moving, I'd drag him in to either urgent care, or the ER. JMHO, but infections can be really scary. Wishing him (and you) the best outcome! The empty boxes (the clean ones), I'll most likely offer on a Facebook site. But, I'd like to empty out a few more first...

I tried to get DH to go back today but he refused. Now it's 11.40 pm and he's fast asleep. I hope he'll get his butt into gear early tomorrow. I'm going to set my alarm early. We were told to go tomorrow morning, but we weren't given a specific time. The UC doc told me he called to say he was adding DHD to his list. They're orthopedic surgeons so they're used to dealing with emergencies. In fact this doc's partner operated on DS3 years ago. Thank you my friends.
