CCL- the floors and the nightstand are gorgeous! I love giving furniture makeovers! That turned out very well! Iggy aka IG- Oh girl, that's a lot to handle in one day. If I were you, I would purposely mismatch all his socks for awhile. In all seriousness, I am glad you recognize the overload and have found ways to modify your day to lighten your load.

Brings back horrible working days and dealing with DD and mom. I was an evil, crazy woman back then. Always tired, always stressed. It's bad enough now.
Ok, I was ruthless, I told hubs if DD needs fat clothes again I will just buy them. She is so psyched to lose weight she needs rewarded for her good work, its going to be some new clothes. I am ditching the 2, 3, and ever 4X stuff. She is wearing large and XL and some of those are to big. But I'm keeping lots of that stuff, just in case. Between she and I, I filled 5 bags with clothing and I'm taking them off today so I won't weaken. Honestly I can't tell much difference in the closets. I was able to move her winter stuff from her bedroom to the guest bedroom. Guest bedroom closet has a ton of coats in it, the front hallway, and the laundry room closet are all coats. I have all kinds, winter, spring, summer, rain coats, and all colors. The spring coats one time I bought at Walmart for $10 each. I got yellow, pink, red, blue, green, lavender, all exactly the same. We have worn those things for years and years. They wash and wear like iron. This spring I found her and I, hers will be to big now, really, really nice winter coats for $15 each, had been almost $70 each at Walmart. I rarely get rid of any, but need to quit buying. I couldn't find our rain coats so got a new one each from LandsEnd and LL Bean. They will last a long time. I likely need to do my shoes again. I have almost all of them gone and need to hit purses too. Someone is going to get some very nice clothes. I hope they sell these in our town and Goodwill doesn't send them to another city. If the other place is open may donate them there. Ok, need to vac and run these to town.
Going to try and make DD a hair appointment and a chiropractor one, she needs both desperately.

I could remake all of the items but there is so much to cut away, not even going there. Someone will get some really nice clothing.

Going to vent here. As mentioned in a prior post, DH is down. He had rotator cuff surgery and has the use of one arm. This was my yesterday: Got ready for work, including iced coffee, breakfast and lunch Made sure the coffee maker for DH had water because it's awkward to try and fill it with one hand Arrived at the office on time-ish Coordinated my dad's schedule with mine as he'll be in the area on business Checked in w/ my sis about mom. Long story. Worked 8.5 hours, which included lunch interruptions. Back after being out for 4 days made the day extra stressful Bought groceries, DH's RX, and picked up the mail Lugged in the groceries (DH helped w/ the lighter stuff) and put them away Rinsed cherries and carrots and put them into a container and baggie for DH to snack on
Played a round of Words, made supper, watched a bit of TV, checked in w/ DH about his food intake for the day and his day in general
Peeled a grapefruit for him and wrapped it up for today
Gave DH his meds and vitamins (opening bottles w/ one hand is difficult) After putting Vaseline and socks on his callused feet per doctor's orders, I asked DH how they felt fitting wise. His response? "Not bad for mismatched socks."
I looked him square in the eye and said, "So fire me. Seriously."
He then mentioned the empty tissue box (it's inside a decorative box and difficult to get out). I filled up his CPAP w/ distilled water, fetched another box of tissue from the back pantry, opened it and set it near him, and went to bed. He's sleeping in the living room for recliner/arm position purposes.
The joke this morning was as soon as I saw his feet, I gasped, pointed, and said, "Mismatched socks!!!!!" He told someone he knew at the liquor store the other day he'll be out the rest of the year. My life flashed before my eyes. It's going to be a longgggggg rest of the year. I'll modify my behavior and handle the extra stress by not answering the phone during my lunch break, and asking my dad about visiting his condo this summer. I'm also going to put DH on emptying the dishwasher duty, as that can be done w/ one hand. Thank you for listening and for being here, ladies.
I know your DH is being a pain in the ass. I had major reconstructive surgery on my shoulder a few years ago and it was much more painful than childbirth! I thought I was going to be able to do things. And I couldn't. And I was bitchy all the time. And I couldn't seem to stop myself even though I knew I was being bitchy. It just hurt so freaking much. Just getting up to the bathroom was a major undertaking. I don't think I slept for 20 minutes at a stretch for months. There is absolutely no comfortable position. And it took 4 months before I was even moderately comfortable. My point is that he probably doesn't mean to be so needy and difficult. And emptying the dishwasher might not be doable. Every time you bend over you have to lift your trunk back up. Which hurts like hell. It will gradually get better, but it's a long slow process. And physical therapy is also excruciating. And (((hugs))). I know what I put my DH and kids through. Shattering my elbow was even worse. Although I was pretty self sufficient when I broke my leg in November.

And thanks for the hugs. He's actually not in any pain and hasn't been taking any pain meds. For now. PT starts in a few weeks. And, yes, I've been warned by many people how much that will hurt. Agreed-bathroom and showering have been topics the past few weeks. We've got that process down through trial and error, LOL.

I didn't get the position I sent the thank yous and writing samples for. Feedback was pretty positive and maybe some other time. I'm glad to have been considered and met everyone. Hopefully, this will be fruitful at another time.
Did light a fire under some of my research! One out. Two other projects improved and moved forward. I'll try to finish one of those and send out this weekend.
At least the pressure is off!
More time to focus on the physical items decluttering as well now, rather than sentences and writing projects. :^)

Yep, but the quality of their clothes isn't what it used to be. Someone bought it back from Sears, I knew when they got it, it would go downhill and it did.
Hubs and I went to town and donated the stuff so I would not be tempted to go through the bags and decide to save this and that, its all gone!
Now I need to do shoes again, most are gone as with my bad feet can't wear them, need to get rid of the rest. I just keep hanging onto things.
I have 4 big racks of clothing downstairs too.

Iggy love the sound of everything you did in the guest room! It sounds like you repurposed quite a bit too, which is great! Good point about the extra bedding, because the couch has a storage compartment underneath. I need to figure that out. CCL you did a gorgeous job on the night table! I love the floors too! Iggy you know you can always vent here. I know you're both great cooks, but maybe have some ready meals for when you're not home? Also, after DH's accident I got him several pairs of drawstring/elastic pants because they were easier to put on with one hand. Rukh I'm sorry about the job, but glad the pressure is off! I worked all day yesterday, then we watched DS1's virtual graduation. DH did a BBQ for all the kids/partners/E, so 11 people. It was great fun to be all together! DS1/DDIL/E and DS2/GF left for the boys' dad's house this morning. We enjoyed the quiet lol. DS3 and DH went to have lunch with DS3's godmother, so I went to Ikea. I got the storage tubs for the stamps so I can empty the guest room dresser. I also reserved the night tables, I'll get them tomorrow. I had a mental limit of 100 euros for the guest room. In the end I'll have spent 120. I hesitated between 4 or 5 tubs for the stamps. Going to Ikea was a mission, so I got 5 to be safe. I also got 10 more hangers and a stepping stool for E for the toilet. (I'm gradually replacing my yucky hangers, I get 10 each time I go there.) ETA: I also ran/emptied the dishwasher and went to the bottle bank this morning.

I miscalculated! Despite measuring the drawers, 3 tubs were enough. At 14 euros each (with lids/clips) I'll return the other 2. Not this weekend ... we have an Ikea Family card so I have three months. The dresser is empty and the 3 tubs are full! DS3 will carry them down to the basement when he gets home. Quickest mini-project ever! (Not counting the time it'll take me to return the others.)

DS3 and I took the stamps to the basement, and I vacuumed the empty dresser. I ordered an extra fan. There was one to share between the guest room and DD's room (where E sleeps). We'll soon need one for each room (no AC here).
In the end I cancelled the night tables. Partly because of the price, partly because they might be a bit too wide for the space.

Totes and storage boxes are what I've always called them. I used to use that size as a litter box for the cats until I realized one cat would walk in just far enough that her feet were in but her hind in wasn't so now I use the ones that are 15" tall and put a step stool next to it so they don't have to jump in.

Yep, but the quality of their clothes isn't what it used to be. Someone bought it back from Sears, I knew when they got it, it would go downhill and it did. Compared to what is out there, I prefer to have a lesser quality that has an indefinite return policy than have one that doesn't. There was no LLBean in Delaware so I never bought from there. I'm just glad LE isn't fast fashion like H&M or Forever21. Plus, I enjoyed working there last summer when they opened their only stand-alone store in DE.

Thanks, Rukh O'Rorke! Sorry you didn't get the position. I love your positivity about the outcome. countrygirl2, I've been thinking the same about a few remaining pairs of shoes I no longer wear. Like minds, debthaven! I've been utilizing my slow cooker more often the past few weeks. It helps save time on work nights. DH and I talked about him helping with emptying the dishwasher. One piece at a time does sound quite tedious. We did agree he could put away a few items from the dish-drainer while waiting for the microwave, for instance. (I hand wash pots and pans, knives, etc.) And, debthaven, those bins/tubs are similar to the ones I use for clothing I cannot yet rid of. (I posted a picture many months back of our master room closet.) They stack nicely 2 x 2 on the top shelf. I think ours are Rubbermaid brand...? Whatever Walmart carries/carried a few years ago, LOL. I'm hoping to mail off the first 30+ music cassette tapes today. One shoebox full and it's quite heavy!
One of this weekend's projects: Move the exercise bike from my home office/gym to the main room so DH can use it while watching TV/DVDs. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.

I slept great last night! No waking up short of breath, YES!
I used my inhaler about an hour before bed. But I think the biggest issue is my nose stops up, has forever but worse as I age. I went to an ENT, he said the space inside was long and narrow but didn't warrant surgery, this was some time ago. So when I lay down it shuts off basically. I use Breathe Rite strips. If I get them just right I can have one side at least I can breathe really good out of. And last night I got it just right. I suppose otherwise I do like hubs and hold my breath or something until I have to breathe out of my mouth and likely wakes me up. So will just try to do better. Getting a good nights sleep sure does help.
I was all ready to go over and finish mowing that one section and just as I was ready to put my shoes on and step out of the door, it started pouring. It only rained a 1/3 of an inch but in that heavy grass likely to wet. Might try later in the day, we are mowing 4 1/2 inches high its so thick and heavy.
We have not eaten meat with dinner the last 3 days so tonight we are having filets, salad, and baked potatoes. Easy quick meal and on the grill.
And the CQ10 stuff is giving me more energy, its helping me to feel more like my old self. I expected nothing from it. Going to do the exercises from the PT and then fold clothes and wash our bedding. They are helping, I notice I'm able to get up a bit better, something so simple helping mobility. I saw others doing like me at the doctors office and I wanted to share with them so badly that there is help for us, but I kept my mouth shut for a change. Dear old hubs carried the heavy winter clothes downstairs. I told him just to lay them on the bed down there and I will put them away. I want to go through the clothes racks and see if there is more I can give away and more summer clothes to bring up. And check for shoes to go.
I am upset too over the violence and I read the tweets from someone and he is just throwing fuel on the fire and that sickens me. But I can do nothing about it. I just hope we choose better next time and the country improves, but you can't get rid of prejudice. At least we can hopefully tamp it down. You need it educated out of people and I don't see that happening in my lifetime.
I was going to hoe the potatoes and plant the rest but probably to muddy, but will check later, we are on a hill so stuff drains pretty good. My garden is really growing, need to plant more though.

I tried to get DD to exercises with me. That poor girl is in terrible shape and she has a very hard time following directions. I had to help place her and she still struggles. Maybe if she is persistent she can get better. She is still going downstairs and using the treadmill some. We just want her to move to help with pressure sores so she doesn't get them and blood clots. Any movement is better then none.
She had music therapy yesterday, I was gone, dad helped get her set up.

I'm considering getting these to use as night tables in the guest room (put vertically). www.ikea.com/us/en/p/knagglig-box-pine-70292359/I know they're a far cry from CCL's beautiful work LOL. But they're cheap, they match the base of DS1's bed (not that you can see much of it) and they're the right width.

Can I just vent a bit? I still need to get an Indiana driver's licence and, knowing that it's now by appointment, I pop on to the website to do so. Well, one of the Indy locations had an appt for tomorrow so I click on it to make the appointment. It asks for my DL # so I plug that in. It then says "Please input your 10-digit driver's license number" and I'm, like, WTF. DE doesn't have 10-digits. I hop on a chat to mention it to the person who helps me.
Megan says "Just input 0s" I respond "Can you put that note on the page? I lost an appt because I didn't know I could just put in fluff info." Megan says "We aren't the BMV". Uh, "Doesn't the IN.Gov webmaster control that page, too?" Megan then leaves the chat.
While that was going on, I've also been on hold with the BMV control center. 43 minutes and counting.
All because I want to register to vote.

Crap I'm sorry Nidena. Might it be worth trying again during the next shift? The lady that I spoke to on the phone was very nice. She took down my suggestion that all appointments for all locations should be on one page. The current process involves selecting each location then clicking on each week to see what is available. Being new to Indy, I have knowledge of only half the locations that surround the city and I shouldn't have to open a google map to find out where things are. Realistically, it should be similar to this page for planet fitness rather than this nonsense.

Lol. The reality is I'm just too cheap to buy a new nightstand. I like those. Do you think you will paint or stain them or leave them natural? Plus, if you no longer need them for tables, there are lots of ways to repurpose them.

[snip] I'm hoping to mail off the first 30+ music cassette tapes today. One shoebox full and it's quite heavy!
The cassette tapes have been mailed! And the USPS woman said she is taking CD donations for a friend of a daughter to decorate her ceiling. I'll have to peruse that collection next. 40 or so cassettes will be given to a neighbor this weekend. Convenient, in case I want to visit them, LOL.

DD is making great progress packing, donating and discarding. If you count all the pens, pencils, markers and paints the numbers are in the thousands! And more clothes and books and tchotchkes. She has a bin of who knows what and a trash bag full of stuffed animals in the basement. She asked me to just toss them...she doesnt even want to look.
I've done a bit of my stuff as well. A dozen items out of my closet and in the donation pile.
The entire house is in shambles at the moment. Pulling stuff out of every closet drawer and corner. It's driving me nuts, but it will all be over in two weeks or so and I will have an opportunity to completely reset the whole upstairs.
Have a great weekend everyone!
