That is absolutely stunning Startsmart! You are incredibly talented! We had to wait 30 min to get in, but we got the lounge chair cushions.

I’m in the Bay Area for a few days and it is SO QUIET here and I’m loving it. My new quilt layout is giving me fits so I am finishing a few more flowers and adjusting it tomorrow. Here’s a preview if you’re interested : imgur.com/gallery/a9Ri5EuI need to go get some groceries tonight and hope the store is slow, it took 20 min in line before I could go into the fabric store today and they had maybe 3% of the usual fabric in stock. I got what I needed for masks but the options were very limited. I may have to commission a quilt from you in the future. You do beautiful work.

welp - super achy today from extreme gardening yesterday. Rained a lot last night and the freshly cut grass loved it. DS did a fantastic job. Even using a pair of scissors to cut unruly grasses that the mower wouldn't trim. Hoarders was a bit of a bust last night. Did not motivate me even though I watched 2 episodes, and stayed up a bit later than I should have.... episode 4 - a woman who cluttered 3 houses and was being fined by the city daily for outside clutter. They only worked on the outside of 2 of the houses. episode 5 was 3 friends/brothers who all hoarded. Again - focused mostly on outside clutters. Not something that has me jumping up to do chores! oh well - the season is over, back to my usual sources of motivation. Today will start as a 2 cup of coffee morning. Then I'll decide what to do with myself. Have a super busy/stressful week coming up juggling 2 interviews with the regular job tasks/meetings, and a dentist appt. Going to be hard to 'hide' that much time away from desk. Want to make sure I start the week off in a good frame.

grappling with zero motivation for doing anything but curling up on couch. I might give in. Would prefer a novel but nothing on hand I want. Nap or TV time?

We cleaned out one of the flower beds today. Then I took a nap.

even if I say I am going to pass out on the couch - I don't (can't?) follow through! who am I??
went outside and gardened for about an hour in gentle rain. Brought 2 bunches of lilacs in, the year's first asparagus spear, and some mints and some violet blossoms to garnish today's salad....
have glass bowls, window pane, glass shelf I use to cloche some things. Not on any plants currently so put into garage as we are expecting hail, maybe tornado? today.
oops - meant to bring in a chive bud too....

In the past few days DH has done some heroic decluttering including books stacked all over and clothing that's too big for him now that he uses Ozempic. It's so nice to see space on top of the bureau, the armoire and books neatly lined up on the bookshelf.
Once the donations are accepted again we'll be offering over 100 items.
I've had a migraine for a couple of days now so my plans are not going to be realized. I will have putted a bit in the garden and trimmed the yard, so there's that.

Whenever we get new garden lounge chairs (every 5-6 years) I SWEAR we're going to be better about bringing the cushions in. So I cleared out and cleaned the space under the stairs. That's where the cushions live when they come inside. Thurs is a holiday here so I'm only working 4-5 hours this week. DD asked me to take her to the sporting goods store at the mall tomorrow. She wants to take her bike to her apartment and she needs a new saddle. I'm happy to do it. I'm hoping the issue with the new online exam platform get resolved VERY soon so I can mark my essays this week. (I've already extracted the multiple choice marks.) ETA: I had a recommendation letter to do for a student. I forgot to do it earlier, but it's done now, even though it's late here.

I could have painted today, but the weather heads kept saying 80% chance of showers today, so I didn't dig out the paint stuff. It is now 3:30 and hasn't rained all day, although it is looking threatening now. I'm usually done painting by around 2pm anyway. Today I did laundry, vacuumed and got things ready for the contractor. Everything is moved away from the windows, all the living room furniture is in the middle of the room, all the drapes are down. The day wasn't a total waste I just want to get the house done.

Sharon any chance of getting that guy back to help you for the second coat? Even just for a day so you don't have to get back on the ladder?

I expect the kitchen to be spotless by the time the show is over
Since you DO generally maintain your kitchen well, how about using the inspiration from Hoarders to tackle something else?!
I do usually get to a couple of areas during a hoarders episode. If they show the kitchen being horrible nasty - I jump up and do a few minutes in the kitchen. Disgusting bathroom - I go there for a few small chores. And - is it just me? My kitchen is usually taken to spotless about 2 or 3 times a week, sometimes less. But it can go from spotless to disaster in just 1 or more days of inattention. There were only 5 episodes this season, so I only do 1 per day at most. Sometimes will take 2 days to get through an episode. Yup. And it doesn't help that we don't have a very "large" kitchen, so even a bit of counter clutter is like a bomb went off.

I managed to keep my house in pretty good shape this week after my 3 day cleaning spree last weekend for the appraisal. It made my usual Sunday cleaning day much quicker.
Last weekend, we repainted our atrocious deck out back. It was meant to be a bandaid for the appraisal but I am actually REALLY loving it. I repainted two of our old swivel chairs and caught new cushions on clearance for them. I repainted our makeshift firepit table too. Added on a couple decorative items and my backyard deck no longer gives me anxiety! We are planning to put a roof over it this summer, because we have ZERO shade. It will be so nice when that is finished up.

Sharon maybe he'd be happy to work on a Saturday, even a half day? Might be worth asking. :-)

Worked this morning, mended a sweater, then took DD to the sporting goods store. Mission accomplished. :-) Still no news on the essays.

Thanks for all the quilt feedback ladies! I have another 8 flowers to finish and keep tweaking the layout. I think I’ll need to label the position once I’m happy with it so I can take it with me to see all the pieces together.
Today I have two calls (light day!) and then I really need to fill the 3 boxes I brought here and research some storage pods. It would be a great relief to put all my boxes and furniture into a pod that can be shipped to my new house but some of the companies don’t ship everywhere in the US.
I also need to make some face masks because I have fabric here and will need a good stash of them for any upcoming travel.

In the end I'm working more than planned this week. Job 2 asked me to do 2 English oral interviews on Zoom ... then 3 more ... then 6 more. So 11 total.
That's nothing compared to the number I usually do, but given that I was supposed to do zero this year because of Covid, I'm happy!

DH had surgery yesterday. After just one evening/night of taking care of him, I have an even stronger appreciation of what home care, nurses, EMTs, and friends and family of folks who need help at home do on a daily basis. It is hard work. There is a lot to remember. It is physically and emotionally draining. And frustrating at times. DH is doing okay, and is on his own this afternoon. While he was in the OR, I did some errands while in the big city: The office supply store, the yummy bakery , stopped by a fellow agents' office, picked up DH's RX, and lunch for sis, niece and me. I hope your husband is still okay. Are you doing well with the care-taking and working? Are you overwhelmed?Thank you, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. He's doing much better than I thought he would. The first night was a bit rough, and since then we've settled into a routine. He's mobile, so he's able to make his own meals, etc., while I'm at work. I'm tired, and it's going to be a long several months.

Hugs to both of you Iggy. DD rode home on her electric bike. She hadn't used it in 3 years. We went to the mall for a new seat, and DH helped her replace a tire. So we decluttered a bike today!!! We only have 8 bikes left now. DH will try to get some of them up and running, at DS1's request. DD's electric bike was the biggest, and it's gone!!! All the others fit in the lean-to!

Used up some of those itty bitty lotions and potions that were in the closet. One was a one-time-use shampoo. I washed my hair and realized it was so wrong for my hair type, I had to wash my hair again. And some of the lotions...how did I even tolerate their scent before. It's one thing when you first put it on and then you become noseblind. I never became noseblind to one I used and smelled it all day. It didn't stink; it just wasn't a scent I'd want to smell all day. Woke up with a migraine this morning, took my meds, and then woke up with muscle ache from having slept so hard.

I generally use the hotel shampoos and some of the soap, but I can't use any of those scented lotions.

I find the scented body lotions are good 'shaving cream' for my legs. That way no scent lingers and I'm not wasting anything.
