Cleaning up all my “stuff” tonight because I’m going to the other house tomorrow and only need to take some things with me. I have boxed up the stuff from my car and have 3 more boxes to fill at the other house.
I’ll be taking my quilt to lay out and figure the design and hoping to find the box with more fabric for masks too. My mom made me a mask but the wire for the nose area is way too sharp and it comes up so far on my cheeks it hits my glasses. I want to play around with a few templates and make some new ones.
Tonight I need to finish putting away my clean clothes and pack the rest of my stuff in the car.
We did the vegetable garden planting and about 10 more succulents. I am still slowly working on the rock path and the wildflower seeds.

I have the first coat of paint on the walls in the living room. I will be doing the second coat tonight or this weekend. Slowly but surely it is getting done.

Back in 2007/2008, I was part of the Grocery Challenge thread and stockpiled a lot of bathroom stuff like shampoo and deodorant and all that other stuff. Well, over time, I realized there really wasn't a point to it for me. I mean, I understand how it's cost effective for families and such but it's just not for me. It takes me months to go through one bottle of shampoo but I do like to have different scents available so I have two or three in the shower which means it takes that much longer for me to need any replacements. That being said, I've decided to not purchase those extras any more. I don't need two or three bottles in the closet. Same with deod and face wash and body lotion. The other aspect of that is all the little sample items that I have on hand. You know, the ones that you get when you stop into the dept store? Yeah, I have a bunch. So that's my current declutter project: empty the closet of the little extras. The goal: No backstock in my own house. The exception: When what I buy comes in a multipack like Costco TP.

nidena , I am the same way with hotel shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, etc. While I do put some in the guest bathroom, when the stock becomes a bit large, I drop some off at the thrift store to be given to the women's shelter or to someone in need, or at Goodwill. Doing both DH's chores and mine now for awhile. This means I'm in charge of inside and outside duties. Filled the hummingbird feeders and the garden fountain, took the garbage can out for trash day, and went to WM. He seems to be doing okay still. We'll see if that changes once the pain block wears off. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Hope he feels better soon and you get relieved of at least some of your duties Iggy aka IG. It's hard to do everything.

I also donated a lot of the free stuff I get when I buy the makeup I use to the local Dress for Success group. Figured that a lot of the mascara and other items that I rarely used will work for someone trying to get back on her feet and one or more less things to get when job hunting. Getting mostly computer things done this morning. Worked on several new listings for the Etsy shop. Won't publish them until next month. Have several more to write, take photos and prepare before then. Plan to work on getting several new items ready to go for June. Several reasons for waiting -- don't want a bill for only one listing (20 cents) at the beginning of the month and if nothing that I have currently list remains unsold then I won't have to venture out to the post office. Would like to have more time before I make a trip like that. Also would like it if one of the current ones sells before they expire. All of the current active listings are set to expire by the beginning of July so adding new listings and/or renewing some older one beginning in June may allow me to trigger whatever formula Etsy uses to promote things. I caught up on laundry yesterday. My list for today is very light as is my schedule for the next week. I am keeping up with the usual chores and adding things to my donate box as I run across them. I paid a little extra to the car loan this month. I usually add extra with my payment and sometimes throw some more at it if I can. Already knocked off 11 months off the length of the loan and I am thinking that since the interest on the loan is more than the bank gives me for my savings that I may just pay the balance off next month. Currently under $5000 and I have most of what I need in my car sinking fund. Will see what the balance is after the June payment hits at the beginning of the month and then will probably decide to knock it out.

I went to town to do drive thru pick up of groceries. Had made it over 2 weeks between trips for groceries. Treated myself to tea at the drive through. Didn't appear that Great Clips was open. The cars that pulled in there were turning around and leaving. Looked on the app and it said closed for all the shops. I've been making an effort to drink more water. I know I don't get enough liquids in me. This sure has increased the number of times a day I have to go to the bathroom.

I did just buy a bunch of slippers though. I've gone through three pairs since I moved back in January so I bought seven pairs from Boscovs. I wish I could have browsed in store but there isn't one in Indiana and, well, there's no in-store shopping anyway. lol. I can't count how many times I've gone on various clothing websites--Lands' End, WHBM, etc--and put stuff in the cart, only to log off 'cause clothes are the one thing that I absolutely don't need.

We got our appraisal report back. All the cleaning and staging was worth it! (I know that's what it's not based on but dangit, I spent 3 days getting this place perfect haha). We added $34,000 to our home value with all of our renovations. We only spent about $23,000 so we definitely came out ahead!

Congrats on the appraisal Nikiz! We know how hard you and your DH worked! I planned to mark 34 essays this weekend, but they still can't figure out how to extract them from the new platform so that's on hold. I want to do them before the kids arrive next weekend.

DH and I braved the Home Depot-type store yesterday and bought two wooden lounge chairs for the garden. The old Ikea ones had fallen apart. I'm amazed they fit in the car! We still need to get cushions.

One thing is certain: It is much easier to keep a 600 sq ft apartment clean than it was a 1500 sq ft house. I sweep every other day here. There, I might have swept once every couple weeks. Here, I vacuum every couple weeks. There, every couple months. Maybe. I do the dishes more often because I have less counter space. It's crazy...but not unexpected. My next house will probably 1000-1200 sq ft but definitely not 1500+. Too much upkeep. My mother always said this about large houses. Why would I want to keep that much clean?
I feel so bad for graduating seniors who are in the job market. With all of the job losses and cuts, I think it will be very difficult to find jobs. None of these people did anything wrong. It's the damn virus that has changed our lives. Amen. I totally feel for them as well. I got married in 2008 and got laid off when I got back from my honeymoon due to flooding in our area (completely destroyed the apartment complex I managed). I graduated college in 2009... then the economy tanked into the recession. That's when we really spiraled down the debt tunnel (and found WIRR actually). It was like one bad thing after another. I never did use my degree. Meh, you're home with your babies right now. That's kind of a thing. What's your degree in?

DH had surgery yesterday. After just one evening/night of taking care of him, I have an even stronger appreciation of what home care, nurses, EMTs, and friends and family of folks who need help at home do on a daily basis. It is hard work. There is a lot to remember. It is physically and emotionally draining. And frustrating at times. DH is doing okay, and is on his own this afternoon. While he was in the OR, I did some errands while in the big city: The office supply store, the yummy bakery , stopped by a fellow agents' office, picked up DH's RX, and lunch for sis, niece and me. I hope your husband is still okay. Are you doing well with the care-taking and working? Are you overwhelmed?

Hi friends, I'm still working the same amount of hours; it's just not all at work. I miss my students. We've had a weird pattern of two or three days of stormy spring weather and then one or two days of brilliant sunshine.
Decluttering: I've purged some clothing, but I've also purchased a lot. I'd say I'm at a one-in/one-out pattern right now.
Here's a vent: A rare occurrence happened last week: DH got upset with me for how much online shopping I've done. I do admit I've made some unessary purchases. It was a combination of giving up all purchasing for myself for Lent and then the stay at home orders. However, at least half of the orders were so we didn't have to go to the store. He just got upset because for the last six weeks UPS and FedEx stop at our house almost every day. He doesn't realize that normally, that would just be a culmination of a few shopping trips.
Cleaning: Have regular chores and need to deep clean parts of my bathroom. I had the cleaning lady clean the shower this week, but I still need to do the walls, baseboards, sconces, cupboards, etc.
Organization: Have several things to schedule including the dentist as has been discussed. DD#2 and I each had a cleaning scheduled for the last week of March, and those can rescheduled now. DH had his annual well check scheduled for the first week in April. Bill the Dog needs to have his shots done in May. A few other non-medical appointments to take care of--including my hair!!!
On the medical note: I ended up with another blood clot two weeks ago. It's in my left calf. This one has not needed surgery yet, so that's good. It's feeling better. I go back to the doctor on May 29 to have it checked again.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe ! I'm sorry about your DH, but I'm sorrier about your blood clot! I hope you won't need more surgery. DD was here so we took her home at 5. We tried to get the cushions but they wouldn't let us into the store, 40 min before closing! We'll go back tomorrow morning. I want that done before the other kids come to stay. Dishwasher run and emptied, laundry caught up. No Job 2 next week because Thursday is a holiday. I have my Job 2 annual review, but I'm only working 4-5h next week. I hope I can mark those essays!

My degree is also in Business, concentration Marketing. I find that I actually use it quite often. Working in retail, I'm constantly thinking: How can we best present the product so that folks buy a poop-ton? Or, in the case of the non-profit with which I volunteer: Is the website as user-friendly as it could be. You might be using your degree all the time without realizing it.

last night I just wasn't getting into any shows I was trying to watch.....switched back to hoarders which I was saving for the weekend to spur more cleaning. I thought it was too late in the day to have me springing up and cleaning - but no - it did the trick. I got through about 20% of my planned weekend work while watching....The first 2 episodes were not super motivating to me, but this 3rd episode was so emotional! Didn't do any indoor work today, spent about 4 hours doing yardwork. DS joined me for about 3 hours. Front and side walkway is looking good. hope we can get to the side yard soon. That's the area that usually gets neglected. Raining again tomorrow.... going to make a late lunch/early dinner, and watch the next hoarders episode....I expect the kitchen to be spotless by the time the show is over

Since you DO generally maintain your kitchen well, how about using the inspiration from Hoarders to tackle something else?!

I do a lot of volunteer work (PTO, Little League board, etc). I’m in charge of PR for our Little League (and I am secretary so always designing flyers) so I’m always “marketing” our league. I handle social media for our PTO and LL as well. Thanks for pointing that out. ❤️

Today was yard work day. It was supposed to be rainier then it actually turned out to be so I didn't want to try and paint. The garden is planted. The prep work wasn't as good as I usually do but the veggies are in the ground and with as much as I have going on this year I'll take it. I had also purchased some flowers to use in pots and hanging baskets, those are all planted. I did have to make an early more run to Home Depot for more potting soil but they weren't very busy. The rest of the day was spent raking leaves out of flower beds and trimming some bushes back. There is so much still to do but at least a small portion got done today. Now I'm in the market for a new outdoor table and chairs. I'm going to give my wooden picnic table and benches to DD and her family. I don't need that large of a table anymore and they could use it Monday the contractor will be here to put in new window sills/boxes and new trim around the windows and in the living room and hallway. I have almost replaced all the trim in this house. After this week it will just be the bedrooms left. Tomorrow I will need to take down all the drapes etc to give them good access to the windows. Also the living room furniture will need to be moved into the middle of the room.

I do usually get to a couple of areas during a hoarders episode. If they show the kitchen being horrible nasty - I jump up and do a few minutes in the kitchen. Disgusting bathroom - I go there for a few small chores. And - is it just me? My kitchen is usually taken to spotless about 2 or 3 times a week, sometimes less. But it can go from spotless to disaster in just 1 or more days of inattention. There were only 5 episodes this season, so I only do 1 per day at most. Sometimes will take 2 days to get through an episode.

I think many of us tend to focus on the kitchen since it's used every day. That's understandable.
But I also think you get more "bang for your buck" by doing something you DON'T usually do.
And as you point out Rukh, the kitchen gets done several times a week. So if it gets done twice a week instead of 3 times a week, and you use that time to do something else you wouldn't have done otherwise, IMO that's a win.
Maybe you can put both of your kids on "kitchen duty", ie ask them each to clean it up twice a week (one night each, or two nights both, up to them.) Then spend the time YOU would have spent on the kitchen on something else, ie decluttering and working on OTHER parts of the house. Also, personally (I know others might disagree) I'd be willing to pay them to help. NOT to clean up the kitchen (they both eat and I'm guessing you buy the groceries and cook), but for the other projects.

I’m in the Bay Area for a few days and it is SO QUIET here and I’m loving it. My new quilt layout is giving me fits so I am finishing a few more flowers and adjusting it tomorrow. Here’s a preview if you’re interested : imgur.com/gallery/a9Ri5EuI need to go get some groceries tonight and hope the store is slow, it took 20 min in line before I could go into the fabric store today and they had maybe 3% of the usual fabric in stock. I got what I needed for masks but the options were very limited.

startsmart, I really like how you're changing the intensity of color in one dimension while changing the hues themselves in the other. THis is going to be phenomenal.
