debt...I hate gardening....and anything close to it. There appears to be something in some of the soil around here that has caused the death of lots of plants. Regardless, I'm done pouring money into this house. 3 years ago it was $9K to rebuild the dormer that leaked and the water than came into the entryway. The driveway was never poured right so it's cracking side to side and top to bottom. It just goes on and on. I've told some neighbors (who tire of hearing it, I"M DONE) no more money into this house.
I've warned any remaining plants too....you die? you are getting tossed into the trash can, and not replaced.

Thanks ladies, I’m about to board flight 2 of 3 today. Took more pain pills which seems to help. It’s the 4 hour layover I’m most worried about hope this went smoothly!!

Dad passed away peacefully yesterday. He was really lost without my mom. I was planning to do a lot of decluttering over the 4 day weekend to get a break from work, but now all plans have changed. I am thankful I was able to spend 2 full weeks with him In January and February. oh - so sorry to hear. Condolences.

Saveinla- I’m so sorry for your loss. Grateful you were able to spend time with him and he is now at peace. The first person I know personally has passed from COVID-19. He was in my extended family and hosted me twice at his home in the UK. His granddaughter and I are close and she’s devastated (only 13 yo) so we are prayer the rest of the family don’t fall ill. oh.....very sad. condolences to you and family.

Since Money Squirrel posted I decided to add my .02 worth. Been in this house for 5 weeks this past Wednesday. The only times I've been out is for a Walmart run and a fun day that 4 of us met for lunch in the church parking lot. Needless to say, 3 of the guys that work there thought these old ladies were crazy, but certainly had a good time laughing. We all did our first pick up/curb meal that we ordered. Finally did buy myself a new sewing machine and it has helped with the loneliness and depression. A church friend has given me drawers and drawers of fabric, so I'm happy I can continue to sew and quilt without buying $10/yd fabric. I've kept up with the grocery shopping, and for certain it's less expensive than shopping for 2. Walmart finally had TP and paper towels, they are now on the new shelves in the garage and will be for emergency only. I walked around the front yard last evening and discovered 3 of the plants I thought were dead all last year now have sprouts on them. Have given them some Miracle Grow, maybe it will help. Almost everything we planted when the house was built 7 years ago has died, and I'm not in any mood to replace anything. It can become the problem for someone else years from now. 2 crepe myrtle bushes have now died in the back, again 7 years ago planted. I've decided I need to make a list for my hands-man for this October. Since I have no help but me, I'm not inclined to get on ladders replacing 9 V batteries for the smoke detectors., sawing down trees etc. I have a little note on my computer monitor that says: Keep on truckin'' like you're truckin'. It's a good reminder for me to keep doing what I'm doing as far as spending, and other silliness I find myself doing. Little note, and all of you ladies on here that keep reminding me how to keep my chin up and my emotional status under control. I forgot to add that last year I had 4 boxwood bushes removed from in front of the bedroom windows....all were 3/4 dead. In addition I had 4 overgrown out of control holly bushes my late DH had planted around the gas meters.....they were almost as tall as I am and the buses were a variety that had gigantic thorns on them. I've been talking to myself more. Luckily, I'm pretty interesting!

Blonde Granny - I've been looking at a few websites that deliver plants, so that I can keep myself busy. I did pick up a few at Walmart when I went for some essentials (figured I was already there and contaminated, so why not haha). ETA: Nevermind, I should have kept reading to see that you live in a plant death zone hahaha!

Good progress Rukh O'Rorke ! It's a long weekend, so hopefully you can make more progress on the household items. This weekend- Coursera/Sat- mark 8 MSc essays I took today completely off work and it was glorious. We walked to the bigger supermarket and back, I did my Coursera class, and then took a nap. I also ordered fabric masks from my seamstress friend. She's always quick. There's a garden center across the street. The government just allowed them to reopen (so people can grow veggies). It's closed on weekends because it's mainly for professionals, but we'll get some plants next week. Blonde Granny , since you're a techie Blonde Granny, do you ever organize "meetings" with your friends or family on skype/facetime/zoom? Of course it's not the same as seeing people in person, but I find it really helps these days to "see" a familiar face. Zoom is very easy to use, and it means a bunch of you can "get together", for example your church friends. (It works better if there aren't too many people though).

None of us do those things. We text each morning to make sure we are all accounted for. Last week 4 of us had lunch in the church parking lot.....(don't ask). Once church starts again, about 8 of us sing in the senior adult choir, go to dinner and the same after church.
The best part is that about 30 of us check in now everyday. I think the hardest part is that the majority of us are widows, and sometimes it doesn't take much to bring on the depression and sadness, but over all, we are in great shape.
Oh, and we are planning another church ladies outing next week for lunch. 6' apart etc. and sitting outside.

DS1's table in the UK just got delivered, on schedule!!! I cried when he told me that. No chairs, but hey! I figured if they can hang out in the garden, they'll be less tempted go "outside". Blonde Granny it's great that you check in with each other. That's the important thing.

DH had a great "zoom" party. We logged on early with just his band (our closest friends). They sent an audio file of them singing DH When I'm 64. (It's hard to do music live because of the lag.) Lots of friends and family stopped by.
The best part of the day when when DD surprised us for lunch. She had filled out the authorisation form saying she was "bringing groceries to her elderly/disabled parents", stayed for lunch, and gave DH a homemade cake. So DH had a very nice birthday.
I'm happy I don't need to go anywhere near Zoom until Wed LOL. This weekend - Coursera course/Sat - mark 8 MSc essays I'm hoping to mark these this weekend but we'll see. I really need a break.

Happy Easter (if you’re celebrating today)! I made breakfast for my mom and we are taking it easy around the house. All the dogs are napping when they’re not barking at the birds and bunnies around here.
I’ll have some work to do this week for business and teaching the week after that. I brought my finished fabric hexagons here so I’d have a project and decided to make another quilt. I’ll have to put together 260 flowers (7 hexagons each) and so far I’ve finished... 8. At least I know I’ll have something to fill the time!

I'm patting myself on the back. I managed to set up a smart tv. I had to look up on YouTube how to get the batteries in the remote.

Ugh. This is driving me crazy. We moved DD home from her dorm due to campus closure from Covid19 rules. Now these are stacked in my kitchen. The don’t fit in the pantry cupboards. We don’t want to put them in the garage because we have a rodent problem. Sigh.

Yay Theo!!! Chloe do you have plastic tubs that seal? You could put those in the garage, and put smaller quantities in the kitchen. This weekend - Coursera/Sat - input Job 1 and Job 2 marks/Sun - request lunch vouchers/Sun - mark 8 MSc essays/Mon
Done by 10 am. ETA: Took a long walk. Our friend A was on her balcony. She said she'd JUST finished our masks so she threw them down to us. I'll mail them to the kids tomorrow.

I got the oven cleaned before making Easter dinner. That task was way overdue.
Back to laundry and other stuff this week since Easter baking is over.

TOM, I have 1 TV that I can't figure out how to get it back to working again, and 3 Uverse remotes to 3 TVs in the house and each one has a quirk about what works with each one.
I called ATT last week and the male voice recording politely told me that ATT is no longer doing anything because the world has stopped working due to Covid 19. I can only hope that the main TV in the great room will keep working, and between 3 remotes I can get it to actually DO something.

I finally got some news about my cabinets -- They have arrived and once our state is back open the kitchen and bathroom sink cabinet will be finished! So that was some really good news to get. I was starting to wonder if my contractor had gotten sick or passed away without anyone telling me. It had been about a month since I had heard anything.
Things are getting gathered for the will/probate. I am thankful that I will have the time during the week to handle most things.
Got the call and I will be able to get Dad's ashes tomorrow...I figure I will be ok until I get home and than I will have a meltdown.
It is going to be close to 70 F on Thursday so I am attempting to play musical chairs with all the things I need to shift so I can clear the dinning room to paint.

I give up!!! TV turns on, uVerse box turns on, but I get nothing by "no signal". I'm done, I have 1 clicker out of 1 that works and 1 out of 3 TVs that works. Won't be any Husker sports on TV for a long time, so I'm done.

I'm glad your cabinets are here snapdragon ! Hugs for tomorrow. I wish your friend could go with you but obviously that's not possible now. I’m only teaching 10h/week (instead of 21/22h) for the next month, then it goes down again. It's over 2 days this week, but that will change every week. I really needed these 3 days off. I'm off tomorrow too but I need to prep. We are all very anxious to see what Macron will say tonight. They're talking about closing the borders of mainland Europe until Sept. Since 2 of my kids (and my grandson) are in the UK that idea is unbearable to me. This week- post office/Tues - garden center/Tues - Shitepile - DH’s Quickbooks

Confinement till 11 May!!! Only till 11 May!
And Europe's borders may stay closed after that date, but not mainland Europe!

It is a hard reset of the receiver and will take some time to cycle back on, but should hopefully help.

snapdragon -- Take all the time you need. It is ok to fall apart at times. In a way it is nature's way of allowing us to cope with things. Blonde Granny -- I have no suggestions as I don't have any television. Only watch things that come on over the air or that I can send to the TV with chromecast from the computer. TheOtherMe -- good job on figuring your tv issues. debthaven -- glad your load has lightened some. May 11 is better than September. Hope all had a good Easter. I am continuing staying in place. Yesterday between the wind and the rain I had no problem staying indoors. This week is predicted to be nice so I may attempt to get to the park to walk. Didn't go this morning as I was unsure as to the time the park would reopen since it was closed this weekend to eliminate possible gathering of those who don't listen to the authorities about social distancing. Continuing to get little things done each day.
