Thanks ladies, I’m about to board flight 2 of 3 today. Took more pain pills which seems to help. It’s the 4 hour layover I’m most worried about

I got not quite 6 hours of painting done and I am pooped. My goal was to get this one side of the house done. That goal was a bit of a stretch, especially since it has one of the peaks. I did make a good dent in the amount of work for that side before I just go too tired and it was getting too hot. The paint was drying to fast.

Finally made it home and while no part of the day was pain free I didn’t end up back at 8/10 pain like I had at 3am. Unfortunately I have a high pain tolerance because my 10/10 pain scale is 24 hours post op with internal bleeding and no pain medication so it takes a lot to knock me out.

Dad passed away peacefully yesterday. He was really lost without my mom.
I was planning to do a lot of decluttering over the 4 day weekend to get a break from work, but now all plans have changed.
I am thankful I was able to spend 2 full weeks with him In January and February.

Saveinla- I’m so sorry for your loss. Grateful you were able to spend time with him and he is now at peace.
The first person I know personally has passed from COVID-19. He was in my extended family and hosted me twice at his home in the UK. His granddaughter and I are close and she’s devastated (only 13 yo) so we are prayer the rest of the family don’t fall ill.

I'm so sorry, saveinla. Remember my relative, who currently lives in a nursing home? He had a fever, so was tested for coronavirus. We don't have the results yet, but if he tests positive, he'd be the first patient there to have it. Thankfully, they'd already prepared for the possibility of a resident getting the virus, so he's been placed in a special section of the home that is separated from the rest of the place, and every staff member who attends to him has to wear special gear. Hope he doesn't have it, but at least they're on top of things if he does... My unpacking is going very slowly, between back pain, & trying to be careful NOT to hang onto things we don't really need anymore. I'm certain to thin out my "collection" of clothing some more, among other things. I've still got the charity pile from the other house, so I'll just add to it. DH will be here next month, & he's been telling me to save a lot of it for him to help with.

I needed to update my totals to reflect several items that I trashed this week. Items were also placed in the donation box but those won't be added until I get the boxes filled and out of the garage. Slowly adding a few items at a time there.
I am keeping up with the dishes -- currently old school as the dishwasher died and not replacing it until life is somewhat back to semi-normal and I am willing to go into a store other than the grocery. Laundry is also up to date or will be as soon as that load finishes in the dryer. I am going through at least one area daily sometimes more and either organizing, recycling or trashing. It is slow going but small progress is being made.
I think that I have enough groceries on hand that I can avoid the store for another week or two. I went earlier this week when they opened and got the items that I needed. I am sure there were a few items I forgot to put on the list but when I think of them I will add them to the next run. Figured that if it was an important item I would have remembered.
Slowly getting several items off the forgotten list. Several plants were re-potted recently as I had the soil on hand and the weather was beautiful and I just wanted to be outdoors. Sinuses were not happy afterwards but the plants were.
My state is continuing with stay at home. The number of cases continue to climb so while the numbers in my immediate area seems at times to be flattening out the numbers in other parts of the state are increasing. The local government is planning on closing several public spaces to prevent people from using them this weekend for gatherings. Some people never learn. I have left my house only 4 times since 3/15. One trip to pick up masks at a distance from a friend, 1 grocery/gas run and 2 solitary walks in the park. I may if the weather is nice venture out for another walk early one morning. Yesterday we hit 90 degrees briefly so early in the morning before the heat builds is the best for me.
I am continuing to work on my crafts a little each day as well. Continuing to work on those items for the craft shows if life ever gets back to normal. Slowly getting those made and working on a more difficult project as well, I know that I still have several items that I need to remake as they were good sellers in the past. Also adding new items to the inventory as well. Sure hope that the shows will go on. Sure that nothing will be scheduled until the fall at the earliest.
Dryer just binged so time to sign off for now. Stay safe.

startsmart, I’m glad everything has closed with the house. I hope your travels went well and you’re able to rest.
hitenney, hello!
Regarding cleaners coming in: we had ours come in on a different day when we were able to be gone. Next week, she’s supposed to come in on Tuesday, and I’ll probably just have DD come to work with me (even though I’m not supposed to). That way we can keep the routine and still pay the cleaner. There are no COVID cases in our county, though there are cases in the two counties surrounding us.
busymom, I cannot believe you’re moving again!!! I hope your relative is better soon, regardless of what is ailing him.
debthaven, how’s DH’s cousin?
@theotherme, congratulations on grand nephew!
I’m also one who keeps my house clean for me/my husband. It’s not about other people. This is what makes me feel comfortable.
Sharon, so much work done on the outside of your house!!! Iggy aka IG, yay for your health journal!
saveinla, I’m so sorry. Hugs.
A few updates:
We’ve just been ridiculously busy because schools are so affected by all of this. I gave myself permission to not work this morning until noon. I’m so sad that my school building doesn’t have students in it. I still email and talk to many of them, but it’s not the same. It’s been a huge economic hit to our state also with thousands of people being laid off.
~~On March 30, I applied to graduate school for a doctoral program. Don’t know when I’ll hear if I’ve been accepted. ~~This week, DD#1’s college graduation ceremony has been canceled. (Chocolate Lover, I’m not sad about not having to go to the ceremony, but I’m not telling DD that either!) ~~Last week, we officially moved DD#2 home from her college dorm. She’s sad, but it will save us $4K in room in board. ~~Even without the pandemic, it’s allergy season and budget season for DH. This is never a good few months for him which trickles over to me. ~~Lots of FaceTime and recorded videos sent back and forth with Miss Grandbaby. She turns two this month.

Thanks Everyone. Even though it's painful for me and my sister, we believe that he truly is in a better place now. I was glad that I could say my good bye last week when he was awake and responding.
He was a very good man and a wonderful dad who spoilt us rotten in some ways but was very strict in others.
Even when I went for my niece's wedding early this year, when I was saying goodbye - he said its time to go back home and to your duties. You have done what you have come for and you better get home and back to work. My DH was amazed to hear this as everyone else was asking us if we could stay for one more week.

DH had a great "zoom" party. We logged on early with just his band (our closest friends). They sent an audio file of them singing DH When I'm 64. (It's hard to do music live because of the lag.) Lots of friends and family stopped by.
The best part of the day when when DD surprised us for lunch. She had filled out the authorisation form saying she was "bringing groceries to her elderly/disabled parents", stayed for lunch, and gave DH a homemade cake. So DH had a very nice birthday.
I'm happy I don't need to go anywhere near Zoom until Wed LOL. This weekend - Coursera course/Sat - mark 8 MSc essays I'm hoping to mark these this weekend but we'll see. I really need a break.

On another note I got the extension ladder today. Yesterday when I talked with Dad again about needing the ladder he got mad because he couldn't understand why I needed it. The conversation ended with it's going to take a while. Today he showed up with the extension ladder and totally understood why I wanted all the ladders. Looks like I will be painting peaks tomorrow.

It makes me happy that your DD came for lunch. I love her note. If a person is a Beatles fan, the When I'm 64 birthday is more important than the Social Security birthday. Take a break and celebrate some more. Happy birthday to your DH!

Since Money Squirrel posted I decided to add my .02 worth.
Been in this house for 5 weeks this past Wednesday. The only times I've been out is for a Walmart run and a fun day that 4 of us met for lunch in the church parking lot. Needless to say, 3 of the guys that work there thought these old ladies were crazy, but certainly had a good time laughing. We all did our first pick up/curb meal that we ordered. Finally did buy myself a new sewing machine and it has helped with the loneliness and depression. A church friend has given me drawers and drawers of fabric, so I'm happy I can continue to sew and quilt without buying $10/yd fabric.
I've kept up with the grocery shopping, and for certain it's less expensive than shopping for 2. Walmart finally had TP and paper towels, they are now on the new shelves in the garage and will be for emergency only. I walked around the front yard last evening and discovered 3 of the plants I thought were dead all last year now have sprouts on them. Have given them some Miracle Grow, maybe it will help. Almost everything we planted when the house was built 7 years ago has died, and I'm not in any mood to replace anything. It can become the problem for someone else years from now.
2 crepe myrtle bushes have now died in the back, again 7 years ago planted. I've decided I need to make a list for my hands-man for this October. Since I have no help but me, I'm not inclined to get on ladders replacing 9 V batteries for the smoke detectors., sawing down trees etc.
I have a little note on my computer monitor that says: Keep on truckin'' like you're truckin'. It's a good reminder for me to keep doing what I'm doing as far as spending, and other silliness I find myself doing. Little note, and all of you ladies on here that keep reminding me how to keep my chin up and my emotional status under control.
I forgot to add that last year I had 4 boxwood bushes removed from in front of the bedroom windows....all were 3/4 dead. In addition I had 4 overgrown out of control holly bushes my late DH had planted around the gas meters.....they were almost as tall as I am and the buses were a variety that had gigantic thorns on them.

H and I spent the last two days completing what we deemed "the great garage cleanout of 2020" Now that all of our major renovations are completed, we felt comfortable getting rid of all the scrap material we were hanging on to "just in case". I made signs along our fence so we could organize items as we brought them out (tools, toys, garden, misc, etc). It definitely took 2 full days and we still have a pile of stuff to get rid of (when donation centers re-open) but we FINALLY have a garage that doesn't look like an episode of Hoarders. We purged 120 counted items. H did not count the piles and piles of scrap lumber he threw on a trailer to dispose of. Easily 50-75 pieces. So for my 2020 count, I will add 200 items....which means.... I HIT GOAL! 1,170/1,000 ITEMS IN 2020!

Yay nikiz628 ! You guys are nothing if not determined. Blonde Granny , if you enjoy gardening, I'm guessing some places may be delivering plants. We did a bit of food shopping this morning since the stores will be closed on Monday. It really goes down fast.
