I "power walked" to the corner and back 3 X, then around the garden. That's 2K steps I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Plus I feel better!
Needless to say I didn't see a soul (it's midnight). I think that's a good plan for the future, ideally at like 10 pm rather than midnight.

TheOtherMe . Honestly the only thing that I feel helps me these days is walking. It helps both physically and mentally. I would truly encourage you to get out for a walk/a bit of exercise. In my experience people do everything they can to keep the recommended distance. I worry about going into stores but not about going for walks. This said, I am happy to have just discovered I can walk on my street late at night and not see ANYONE. ETA: If you're worried, wear a scarf or bandana when you go out for a walk. You can always put it over your mouth/nose if you need to (but I'm sure you won't if you're just going for a walk).

Hey everyone! I'm currently on my house trip to find out if the place I want to buy is a good deal or a money pit. I meet with contractors tomorrow to get some quotes but so far I'm not super convinced. The house is the right size and the town is fine (totally quiet and empty thanks to COVID) but it's in a lot worse shape than I expected and I need to evaluate if I want to put in the time and money to get it up to livable shape.
I really wish there were not a pandemic on so I could fall back on my original plan to drive around more and look at additional properties. As it is I've been staying in, wearing a mask when I go out and talking to no one.
I might put in an offer on another nearby property, I just need to think about it a little more and get the numbers back on this first house.
Also praying my flight home doesn't get cancelled, it's been changed twice now and includes one more stop and a 4 hour layover which is not great. The airports were empty, the planes were empty, it's very surreal. I've also learned that I have the same panic feeling wearing a mask too long as I do snorkeling. It feels like I can't breathe.

So good to hear from you startsmart !!! You should definitely trust your instincts, especially since you're used to doing so much work yourself, and you know exactly what it entails. Also, as you well know, the market has gone/will go down. So don't hesitate to offer less. I'm NOT sure of this, but I think I'd even encourage you to wait to make an offer, if you can spend more time at your parents' house (or elsewhere). But I admit, I'm not sure if that's good advice. But I think it's going to be a buyer's market for a while, so you shouldn't buy anything that needs too much work unless you WANT to do the work. In which case, you should negotiate for a better price. Above all, please stay safe!!! ETA I've learned exactly the same thing about wearing a mask, having worn one for the first time on Fri. A horrible feeling of claustrophobia, plus my glasses fogged up constantly.

Well, in between episodes of Grey's Anatomy, I wait to see that my mortgage is paid off from last week's settlement and that my bank deposit from the same settlement has cleared. Today, I have to venture out for groceries. Mother Hubbard's cabinet and fridge are getting bare.

This week - supermarket/Mon
- mark 3 mock exams/Mon- mark last 5 reports/Mon- pharmacy/? We drove to the bigger supermarket. It was so exciting to be in the car! We meant to stop at the pharmacy on the way home but we forgot. It's not urgent so we'll walk there on Wednesday. OMG so relieved to be all caught up with the marking!

Home from picking up prescription. Used the drive thru. Didn't even see the woman I was talking to.

Did groceries this morning. Luckily not too many people when I went. They were just transitioning to only letting a certain number in when I was leaving. Had to settle for chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. Another first world problem. We should be good for another two weeks. I'm trying out a new recipe for dinner, pasta with roasted cauliflower, garlic and walnuts. I don't even know if the family likes cauliflower. (https://www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/4881-pasta-with-roasted-cauliflower-garlic-and-walnuts?pac=CMIf8tsbg4fMoHOJjL1cKvAoeFiVLBW0glo7v%2F3N6QY%3D&extcode=NSAKD04FB&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=photo&utm_content=caulipasta&utm_campaign=atkfacebook&fbclid=IwAR2Bv6V71xS38f63eLMYOkDqyLE2c5wqwDnVe2SygHUduJtj_cBDtW0aiwE) DD used the power washer to write "I love you!" on the sidewalk yesterday. I hope it makes people smile as they walk by. I'm actually working tomorrow. We are doing curbside pick up so people can have their goodies for Easter. We did a trial run last Saturday. It was the biggest shit show. Hopefully we learned enough from that experience that the next couple of days go smoothly. If only the phone would have stopped ringing. We couldn't get the orders together because we kept getting sidetracked by the phone. Sorry, I can't bring out your order because I'm on the phone! Stay healthy and safe everyone.

We spent yesterday cutting down a half dead tree in our front yard. It's only been on our to-do list for like 5 years.... we figured no better time to tackle it. It took H and I about 5 hours total to cut it down and then clean it up. We have about 5 piles of limbs and logs next to the road, hoping the city is still picking up this stuff to take to the town burn pit. If not, we will haul it to my IL's later this week. They live in the country and can burn whenever they want (we aren't really supposed to burn in city limits, unless its a "cooking" fire.) It felt really good to mark that one off.
It's supposed to be warmer but rainy the next 2 days. Once that passes, we plan to do a FULL SCALE garage clean out. As in, everything is coming out and gone through. Now that all of our major renovations are complete, we can go through all the leftover materials we held on to "just in case". I plan to take before and after photos of this one lol. It's a Hoarders episode in there right now.
I am going to get up early and brave the grocery store in the morning. My MIL made me a mask, and I've got my wipes and sanitizer ready to tag a long with me. I plan to wear a crossbody purse so nothing other than my hands has to touch the cart (Heck, I may just stick my card in my pocket). I have never been so anxious about going to the store, but we really need milk/bread/produce right now. I haven't been in 2 weeks.

TheOtherMe, I am so sorry! Can you Zoom, Facetime, whatever with someone? Can your nephew visit? DH and I "social distanced" our neighbors outside Saturday evening in their driveway. I knew it had been a long time since we'd gone anywhere fun, as I hadn't worn contacts since mid February. Prior to our arrival, our friend told their 5-year-old twins no hugs until the sickness goes away. I really missed rolling up to their home and them dashing to us in excitement. I told them we can put the hugs and loves into a jar for later. The house is clean. Well, the main floor, but still. I still need to dust the living room, and finish cleaning underneath the oven hood. I scrubbed the stove top, soaked and scrubbed the burner grates, and processed the self-cleaning cycle for 3 hours. I tossed the hallway area rug into the washer for the first time since moving in. Also: vacuumed dusted emptied, refilled, filled and started the dishwasher made Easter cupcakes from scratch
processed eggs and produce for the week planned suppers read several chapters watched a VHS movie of DH's choice (every other Saturday we get to choose the movie) took produce inventory, prepared the grocery list
Long story short, on his day off last week, DH cleaned the tops of the kitchen cabinets, cleaned under and behind the fridge, washer and dryer, and did a few other major tasks including clean the soaker tub, which I despise doing (plus he is the one who uses it). The goal, as I've mentioned prior, is to stay on top of that stuff unlike our former house. He also did a few loads laundry.
And, a shout out to Knee Deep in Water Chloe. Inspired by her fantastic journal pages of the past, yesterday I designed a type of health-focused bullet journal. I go for a follow up appt at the end of the month.

Apparently this is going to be one of my productive days. Emptied out the fridge and freezer -all cleaned and organized. Found a few interesting items of unknown origin... Thanks to the girls for helping (doing most of the work.) I am an excellent supervisor. Spray painted the trellis that needs to be installed next to the porch. One of my rose bushes is really taking off and is invading our personal space. I'll install it when DH is done with work today. Again, in a supervisory capacity. Found three bottles of champagne and a bottle of OJ in the bottom of the beer fridge. No one remembers buying it. Probably a gift from DH and that he didn't tell us about. No one has had a drink here for at least three weeks. Mimosas in the yard later with the girls.

I'm not sure it's safe for my nephew to visit and I don't want to take the chance.
The water softener company called and wanted to install filters tomorrow. I told them they can't come and were crazy for asking.
As great nephew starts to grow, I'm hoping for a Facetime so I can see him (and his parents).
I did a load of laundry. Now to fold all of the socks.....

My high school senior is now a high school graduate. They decided that if the seniors were passing everything and has passed it for the first 3 quarters that they could just be done. And MAYBE there will be a graduation in June or July in the blazing heat. It's always in the football stadium and will be a miserable event should it still be done there this summer.

Difficult to believe that we are starting Week 4 of confinement tomorrow. Thankfully the curve here in France is finally flattening.
DH never knows what day it is. Since I still work FT, I always know exactly what day it is.

By the way, if anyone is ever in the area, Malarky works at the MOST AMAZING BAKERY EVER!!! Her bakery was actually DS1's local bakery in the Boston area two years ago (until they moved closer to school). nikiz628 I don't remember where you live but if you have seasons (I think you do) could you cut it up and use it as firewood? This week- supermarket/Mon - mark 3 mock exams/Mon - mark last 5 reports/Mon- pharmacy Just the pharmacy left! Probably for Wed now.

I am totally off work - had one more GoTo Meeting. I am hoping I did the Unemployment stuff right - it took me a while. I thought making the initial claim would start payment, but then was told I needed to make a claim certification before a deadline, then post a resume and start job-hunting.
But on the home front, many small tasks are being accomplished. I finally cleaned up the living room, and stashed all the grocery bags - I fit most of them into one of those giant Ikea blue bags. Some of them I plan to cut up and use as mask inserts as they are non-woven material. My nephew was able to get some vacuum cleaner bags which are also very good as filter inserts. The living room looked so nice it may inspire me to clean up dining area - the table is just a terrible shite pile. I have a pile of Christmas stuff that needs to be purged, organized and put into the special (but so far, empty) red plastic boxes I bought - also on the table! When I brought home my work computer and stuff, all the regular desk stuff went to the table. I have made some small inroads in the kitchen, but some days I feel like all I do are dishes.
Went to my aunt's to drop off masks in her carport for the family; cousins come to check on her, so it's a good way to distribute. My neice's May 2 wedding has of course been canceled. The Other Me - I'm sorry you are having to deal with your grief during this unsettling time. I am so glad I have my dog, and I'm sure your cat is a great comfort to you, also. I thought of you when I caught most of the movie "Yesterday". A world without the Beatles - how crazy. Not the greatest movie, but the music was wonderful.

Church friend gave me so much fabric yesterday for quilts I don't know where to start. House was really organized, but now back where I started. Sweaters need to be moved, fabric separated by colors and put where sweaters used to be. All other stuff in the fabric drawers need to be relocated, and frankly today I don't even know where to start getting all this where it needs to go.
I also ordered the balance of my quilting stuff from Joann Fabric last night, but still need to fix the quilt I messed up yesterday. Maybe another cup of coffee this morning will get me pointed in the right direction. Oh, and my neighbor gave me an N95 mask yesterday in exchange for watching her house and picking up her mail a few weeks ago.
Terrific Tuesday, everyone!!

It's Taco Tuesday at our house!!!! Because I try not to eat taco shells, tortillas, etc., I "toast" shredded cheddar in a small skillet. For shells, I'll bend the cheese over a wooden spoon suspended between two tall glasses. If I'm being lazy, and don't want to dirty said glasses, I'll keep the shells flat for "tostadas". Good stuff! I've been doing abbreviated yoga poses when I remember. Next up: cardio. Arrived home late after work and the grocery store last night, so no time for chores.

Good for you for exercising Iggy! 6h of class today. Only 2h tomorrow so we'll take a walk to the pharmacy. DS1 lives with 5 roommates in a furnished house (they're all students at the same university). They have a garden but no garden furniture. I asked the landlord if she would get them a cheap patio table + chairs when we took DS1 there in Sept, she said no. DS1 has been looking for used sets but there's been nothing available. (It's true, I've been looking too.) Long story short I bought them a garden table today, it'll be delivered on Sat. The chairs were out of stock but they can use the indoor chairs. To be honest I didn't want to pay for the table AND 6 chairs, they were planning to buy the chairs). But I want them to be able to spend time outside more easily. It's healthy, both physically and psychologically. I bought the cheapest table I could find, $50 including delivery. I know they'll enjoy having it, even if they have to shlep the chairs.
