debthaven - up to now all the paperwork has been signed online but needs to be notarized for the final sale. We're still working out the day and time.
I got a call from my dad about 8pm saying "okay, I'll be there at noon tomorrow to pick everything up."
Greeeeeat. Lots of notice. I still have most of the kitchen food to pack and another 3 boxes before I'm out. I have clothes in the washer and dryer and dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
It's gonna be a long night.

Good luck Start. We walked (keeping a distance) to the local open-air market for some fresh fruit, veg and fish this morning. Everyone stood on line 6 feet apart.
DH did his Sat morning band rehearsal on Zoom LOL. It was really nice to "see" our friends! This weekend - edit Y's paper (10/15 pages done)
- mark 2 MSc reports? ETA: I edited 2/3 of that paper today so I'm stopping. I'll finish it tomorrow but the marking can wait till next week.

I might just get everything packed by the time dad arrives! I'm already exhausted though so the first thing we're going to do is pace ourselves. I really sucks moving when you can't bring over friends to help and with a cold but we shall overcome! About to pack up my computer and get a few things moved out to my car.
Oh, and I gave my lawn mower away! A new neighbor has been trying to cut his lawn with a string trimmer and since I really don't want to move my mower I wheeled it over to him and he was very thankful.
Still have some dishes in the dishwasher and clothes washing so it's going to be a long day.

Today my bedroom got a very deep cleaning. Everything was all topsy turvy with the siding/window project and I was tired of crashing into the rocking chair in the middle of the night. The way the bed was positioned you couldn't walk around the foot of the bed, you had to go around the head of the bed. The guys had vacuumed up the construction mess sorta. I did a more thorough job on that with the shop vac. As you all know I hate to dust with a passion so it had been a while since I had dusted in there and then with the construction it was bad. Everything got dusted very thoroughly with Pledge. I took the mattresses off the bed and vacuumed underneath, including cleaning the dust off the two things that live under my bed. The bed then got moved back into it's proper place. I also moved the dresser, which isn't easy, and vacuumed under there. I actually had to empty the vacuum canister before I was done because I had hit the max line. All the bedding was washed. This afternoon I mowed the lawn and started moving things out of the garage onto the back deck to be ready for the electrician on Monday. I probably could have finished it but I was just too tired. There will be time tomorrow to finish moving everything for Monday.

We finally put away our suitcases after a month of being back from vacation. I have been sick and working a lot to catch up, but with the stay in place in CA, we figured today would be a good day to do this.

Great job friends! This weekend
- edit Y's paper/Sat+Sun - mark 2 MSc reports? I'm planning to empty/wipe down our kitchen cabinets starting today (like every spring). I did the spice cabinet recently so I may not do it again. I'm splitting the kitchen into parts to keep track.
Mini-project: kitchen
- 4 bottom cabinets (shelves)/Sun
- broom closet - 2 bottom cabinets (drawers)
- 6 top cabinets + top broom closet shelf (need stepladder)

My big goal for the week is to address the clothing situation. That includes getting rid of all the clothes that are too big for me and packing away the winter stuff. I really want to winnow down my wardrobe at hand to the point where I can find what I'm looking for without digging.
Also, wash woodwork, preparatory for eventual painting. It really looks shabby right now.
Now, to bake some cranberry scones then take Franklin the Dog for a long walk. Hamburger for supper, because I opened a pound and a half package from the freezer yesterday.

My dad's blood sugar crashed and he was not responding early yesterday morning. My sister and her DH have taken him to the hospital, where he is in ICU now. He is 92 and so they don't want to use the ventilator - which is understandable. He is getting oxygen and being monitored. They did a CT scan and there is no issue with his brain not getting any blood.
Due to the virus they are allowing only one visit of one person twice a day. I told my sister and her DH to go home to sleep, as he is not aware of anything.
Flights have been cancelled for the next week and even if we could go, I am not sure what to do. I am still not feeling well enough to travel out of the country. This is really hard.
I just hope he gets better - if not, he needs to go in peace without having to suffer.

I did ALL the bottom cabinets AND the broom closet, which was much more than I planned to do today. I hate it when I get like this. DH will help me with the top cabinets (the two levels I can't reach on the kitchen stepladder). There was an article here today saying there's been a big increase in domestic accidents since the lockdown. Not surprised.
I have less work this week, ie no professor classes. They have other fish to fry these days unless they're writing and asking me to edit. My income is going to go down but thank Gd I get my base salary. Not much marking this week.
DH's case was postponed because the courts are closed down.
This week - mark 2 MSc reports - mark 2 Job 2 final presentations - update Job 2 marks - Shitepile
Mini Project: Kitchen - 4 6 top cabinets (not counting top shelves/top of cabinets/top broom closet shelf which I can't reach and DH will do)

saveinla I don't know where your Dad lives, but I just wanted to say that if you are a US citizen (or even resident, I think, but I'm not sure), you SHOULD be able to come home if you decide to visit him.You may need to go into self-quarantine after you get back home though. I just wanted to mention this possibility. Many hugs to you my friend. Like snapdragon, you're in between a rock and hard place.

I managed to back up the financial files on my computer. It had been longer than I usually do it, so it was definitely time and doing that didn't stress me out.

This week's to do list:
Finish hanging shiplap in the attic Paint the attic (1st coat is on, just got to get 2nd coat on) Hook up the new wiring Install the carpet (at this point we would just have to move in, so I would almost call it done!) Stain & Install the trim Balance checkbook/Pay Bills Organize/Purge my craft/homeschool cabinet Empty the kid's old sandbox and purge Seal cedar porch posts and window boxes (i need it to quit raining first) Organize DS2's closet Organize DS1's closet Clean DS1's fish tank Continue cleaning out and organizing garage (now that we are so close to finishing our major home renovations, we can start eliminating all the "scrap and spare" material we have held on to "just in case") Bring out my front landscaping decor (weather permitting) Set up some sort of homeschool schedule for DS1 while he is out of school Well, H and I really ramped up our attic work the last few days and I am so excited to share that minus a few little to do's, WE ARE FINISHED! We still need to install a few pieces of trim, paint the stairway walls, and stain the steps. We can definitely slow down on our work now though, because the kids have officially moved their toys and tv up there. It's really helped with the social distancing. I pulled out so many toys that have been piled in the closet and untouched for over a year. It was like they got brand new toys today! They spent the entire day up there playing and watching cartoons. It was wonderful to see! After I moved all the toys upstairs, I clean cleaned both of their bedrooms. I managed to purge 157 items (happy meal toys, broken toys, random junk idk why they felt the need to keep it). Adding that to my total, that puts me at 706/1000 items for the year!!!!

This whole weekend has been EXHAUSTING. Saturday my dad arrived but, critically, forgot his diabetes medicine at home. So we got my convertible running and took 2 cars and drove 3.5 hrs south.
Last night I got some medicine for my cough, went in the hot tub and slept like the dead.
Today we had an hour to move around cars so they all fit in the garage which would be easy except one car is 80 years old and doesn’t run so lots of manual pushing. Then we drove 3 hrs back to my house and spent 5 hours packing the trailer, truck and my car. Then a 2 hour drive to unload. We got the essentials unpacked but some things did not fit so tomorrow we go back (2 hours) sign the title paperwork, pack, then come here (2 hours) and we’re officially done.
Of course I don’t have the boxes to send back my tv and modem equipment so I have to make a special trip. And the charities are all closed so I have a dozen things I wanted to sell or donate still lying around.
My body is so sore and I’m still coughing and generally tired. I wish I wish I could have had friends help me move but social distancing made that impossible.
Phew. Not done yet...

Taking a break! After wasting the entire weekend... Dusted and vacuumed the stairs and hallway. Dusted and vacuumed the living room and dining room. Hung up all the random jackets in the mudroom. Put away about 20 pairs of shoes scattered around the downstairs. Dusted and vacuumed the mudroom. Still have a few things to put away sitting on the laundry counter Vacuumed all the tiled floors.. .I'll mop when this break is over. DD is mopping now. Have a load of cleaning rags ready to go in the washer, waiting to add the steam mop pads before I run it. Dinner is planned...chicken stew I already made and Fatoosh (a Middle Eastern salad) to use up some fresh mint before it goes bad. That's enough for one day.

Here's how the weekend went --
Friday I washed my upper cabinets and vacuumed the floor. And did a load of laundry and used the dishwasher -- it's so much quieter than my old one.
Saturday I was with Dad all day and than ended up grocery shopping and putting gas in the car.
Sunday I went and bought the rest of the hardware I needed. Put in the remainder of my cabinet knobs. Washed the lower cabinets and started to load them back up. Did 2 dishwasher loads. I also managed to read 4 books.
So I got 3.5 boxes emptied and started another donation box.

Sorry to hear about your dad, saveinla . debthaven , what do you find is the best cleaner for the cupboard exteriors? I'm still nebulizing several times daily. As of this morning, I'm feeling better than I have in weeks. Hopefully this means I'm on the mend from this latest bout. This weekend: 5 loads laundry Emptied, filled, and started the dishwasher Wiped down kitchen counters, including behind and under the Keurig
Swiffered the main room Put away last week's work clothes, and found a missing favorite necklace Watered the plants Pedicured Meal planned Checked flashlight, battery and candle stock Skimmed 3 newspapers, clipped coupons Sat outside and drank tea Watched a VHS movie w/ DH Prepped produce and boiled eggs for the week Napped Set out a few Easter decorations Made homemade grain free cheddar biscuits Checked in with my mom via phone, and confirmed her mom is doing well Checked in via text with several friends in highly infected states Hugs, everyone.

Saveinla- I hope you’re able to be with your dad and he is comfortable. If it’s his time I wish you peace and comfort - 94 is a good long life but if given the choice we always want more time with those we love.
The house is empty and mostly clean, I have a few more things to do and then I leave for the last time.
We signed the paperwork but it was a MESS.
My dad is co-owner, they spelled his last name wrong on half the papers.
They had me listed as married 🤔
They had us paying for the home warranty, which the agents are paying for.
The utilities were estimated $200 higher than reality.
We also had to fill out all the disbursement information so we will get the money by wire transfer when escrow closes Wednesday.

I purged 2 bags of clothing from my closet. I moved all my clothing from the basement closet to DS's old bedroom closet. DH needs to do a minor repair - then DD is pretty much living downstairs, so I wanted to have her move all her clothing downstairs. DD has a bedroom upstairs, but she always sleeps on the sofa in the basement - idk why. There is also a full bedroom in the basement with a Queen bed, attached bath and a full kitchen. My intent was that when she moved home at the end of this semester, to have her set up in the basement, so it is like she has her own space - intending that hopefully she will stay at home for a year or so. She has been working for Delta, and she will probably be off for awhile, so it is good that we have a private space set up for her.
I started our tax paperwork, and after I get the checkbook reconciled and the CC entries entered, I will start cleaning out my office. My office is in the basement and it is a complete disaster. We have a work form home order, so I will be home for probably at least 2 weeks. Hoping I will be able to come in and process payroll...management does not know our accounting system.
I always read my threads backwards, so sorry to hear about your Dad Saveinla.
StartSmart - Congrats on your almost completed move, and I hope you feel better.
