You're SO close for the attic room Nikiz! Can't wait to see photos, you have such good taste! No cleaner of course, so I vacuumed the house, changed our sheets, and did 2 loads of laundry. They're already talking about extending the quarantine past 2 weeks. We plan to go out for another walk tomorrow. (I finish too late on Tuesdays and Thursdays). This weekend - edit P's texts
- mark 6 emails - mark 2 MSc reports
- edit Y's LONG paper (will be ongoing)

Ugh, Sharon ! So much going on. Glad your family was there. Schools are now closed through April 17th. For now. My home office is still open, but they announced travel is restricted for two weeks. A friend who works at Sam's Club posted this morning there was 300 people out front waiting to get in prior to opening. With the restriction of gatherings of 50 10 people or more, not sure how that works?? Mostly I feel bad for niece2. She's worked very hard in school for years, has been taking college courses since her high school junior year, and has achieved many academic awards. Now, she will miss her last prom. And graduation is supposed to be just around the corner.... On a positive note, St. Patrick's Day was fun. I made corned beef with trimmings in the Crock Pot, and baked an Irish soda bread. DH took the rest to work, and his boss wants the recipe.

Welp, the Indiana governor just announced all schools are closed until at least May 1st now. It's becoming very clear DS won't be back in a classroom this year.

Rukh the two-week quarantine will be extended to at least 4 weeks. As I've mentioned before, all the kids are currently in France or the UK, so that's better. They're all safe thank Gd, but I miss them so much. Iggy, sorry about your Niece 2. It's SO sad for all these kids not to be able to walk for graduation. We used to joke about having 2 graduations this year (for a 33YO and a 22YO), now it looks like we'll have none. We're keeping our hotel reservations for DS3's college graduation for now. It's in mid-July in the UK. I really feel like I need something to look forward to. But I know it may not happen. I had THREE skype rehearsals this week for a (postponed!) play! I love my director friend, but that's beyond ridiculous!!! We have two more rehearsals next week, then we'll stop, thank Gd! I had started to learn my lines, then this happened. Of course I will learn them when I need to, but that could be next Sept or Jan! If I learn them now I'll just forget them by then. Even though I didn't have to commute this week, I'm EXHAUSTED. Zoom (online) courses are SO MUCH more tiring than in-person classes, and now I have to scan and email multiple docs that I used to just hand out in class. At the same time, I am very grateful that my students are always SO happy to see me, that I can give them a modicum of normality, and that I have to keep to a schedule. And, I'm getting paid. DD is getting 80% of her salary even though she's been told to stay home for 2 weeks. I'm very grateful for that too!

Since you mention nature walks, Iggy, they have banned walking in the Alps here. A couple of people got hurt and mobilized the EMTs who are on call for Covid-19. So no more Alpine walks allowed.
Also, I finally found something I forgot to stock up on ... dishwasher tabs. I handwashed all the dishes today. It's just the two of us so I don't mind. We have two tabs left, which is enough for 4 days if I don't hand wash anything (and I tend to handwash the pots and pans). First world problems LOL.

Never had a problem with dishes not getting clean.

Oh, no, debthaven! Are there any other options? Here apparently the BLM has closed certain popular areas in a neighboring state. And of course the rebel side of me cannot help but think, how can they close the outdoors??

Iggy I'm wondering if they are closing "the outdoors" because they are more dangerous that walking on the flat ground in the forest in suburbs near Paris? They are also in the process of closing the beaches in France, for the same reason ... people want to swim/surf and sometimes need to be rescued, which mobilizes precious resources that have been allocated to dealing with the pandemic. Blonde Granny, thanks! I will definitely try that! I will also nip into the small grocery store I went to on the way back from our forest walk yesterday where I found TP ... hopefully I'll find dishwasher tabs there too.

It’s a gorgeous day in California today and I am dying to go outside! I might just pull weeds in the backyard for now because we are not meant to be in public. I also *really* need to finish packing the boxes I have so I can assess if I need more.
Packing feels like cleaning when you get most of it done and then have zero energy to finish the job...
I have touched up paint in the office and bedroom, next is the living room which has a few last spots.

I remember when I was packing to move here, I had 30 days to pack. I had a set time each day that I packed. I was finished with everything but the necessities of life way before the 30 days.
Didn't take long at the very end to finish with the necessities because they were all going in the car and not the moving van.
For many years, the picture of my house on google had the moving van in the driveway.

I was so tired last night I ached from head to toe. Yesterday the underlayment went up and the new windows and patio doors went in. The noise was unreal, and while it was sunny out it was a little too cold to have the house open to the outside. There shouldn't be any workers here today. Yesterday I did slip out for a bit and took several old cans of paint to the Hazardous waste site. Which is actually a building where they come out to your car and load up your paint, pesticides, or whatever on to a cart. You don't even get out of the car. It's free for there set quantities but is only open on Thursdays and the First and Third Saturday of the month for a few hours.

This weekend- edit P's texts/Fri- mark 6 emails - mark 2 MSc reports - edit Y's LONG paper (will be ongoing) My county has just banned walking in nature . I'm sorry. That's got to be disappointing. Hoping everyone is doing well under the circumstances. We are mostly just staying home and trying to avoid people. We can go for walks or bike rides still, but it's been too chilly/rainy/windy for it most days. Today it's 60s for a change, so may be able to get out for a while. Hubby finished our wood floors in the bedroom and we are loving them. He had enough extra to do the hallway and finished that, too. I'm painting all the trim, so my house is a mess, lol. All this virus stuff is kind of unsettling for me. We are trying to only watch Trump's news briefing, which have been daily lately and a half hour of the nightly news. That's enough for us. Stay safe out there everyone.

My neighbors don't walk their dog, they have a huge plot of land. But they even say that you are supposed to walk your dog alone. A friend of mine was theatened with a fine because she and her husband were out for a bike ride together rather than alone. Apparently her husband even said, but we sleep in the same bed, and the officer got angry. But as of today, my county has banned bikes too! DH is furious.
We were able to go out for a good walk though. We live near a large private residence with a few shops and a nice park. We went for a walk there (and got dishwasher tabs on the way home). But yes they are being incredibly strict here, and talking about a total of 4 or 6 weeks instead of the original 2 weeks.
A good (but not local) friend called to say she has Covid-19. She's sick but at home, she should be fine thank Gd. She thinks she caught it from her SIL who is a hospital nurse. This weekend

debthaven I'm sorry you can't walk in nature. I was surprised to learn yesterday that my niece, who is a surgical nurse, will most likely be laid off during this crisis. All elective surgery is canceled and even though she has worked there over 16 years, she doesn't have enough seniority to keep her job. She also isn't qualified for cardiac surgery. Makes me sad that there is a health care worker who is going to be laid off. They are not keeping new mothers at the hospital for any length of time. She helped with a c-section earlier this week and the surgeon said as soon as the mother was up and walking, she would be out of the hospital. They don't want to risk mother and baby catching the virus while in the hospital.

Venturing out today to top off my gas tank and hit the grocery store. As DD said "that fridge emptied out fast!" Well, people are eating here three times a day!
I'm cleaning but not really decluttering. If I think it needs to go, I'm storing it in the basement. I'm kind of in the "I might need it someday" mode. Growing up poor and current circumstances make me think now is not a good time to pare everything down. I can get it all out of here when this is over and for the time being I have the space.
On a happy note I have to give kudos to the family owned bakery I work for. They put people over profits and shut us down. Our front end sales staff was on the front lines and many of them have kids or take care of elderly family members. Next week everyone is getting a $1,000 bonus check. Of course I didn't know that when I applied for unemployment...have to see how that plays out.
As of right now I'm the only one in the household not working. DH should be able to work throughout all of it, DD still has stuff to do even though her office isn't seeing patients and L's restaurant is still doing takeout.

I'm happy about your bakery Malarky. What a great attitude!
TheO I'm so sorry about your niece. That's crazy! My friend runs the local hospital's sleep clinic. They are shutting down, but in addition to doing phone and video consultations, she has also been working in other departments where they are short-staffed. I would have thought they would be grateful that your niece is available. Here all the hospitals are hiring any medical staff with extra time (unlikely I know), or anyone who retired in the past 5 years, they are so short-staffed. (They've been advertising on the radio, in the newspapers, and even on social media believe it or not.)

We had our first confirmed case in the next county (which is where most of the people in my town work and shop, its the closest "big city") so people are freaking out. I had planned to go to the grocery store at the end of next week for my usual bi-weekly stock up. But now I am wondering if I need to go sooner- with that announcement are people going to go stock up MORE than they already were? Finding meat here is already next to impossible. That's really the only thing I really want to stock up on, and even if it is available, they've placed 1-2 pack limits. I do know whenever I decide to go, I am going as soon as they open for a better chance at stuff being stocked/store being cleaner.

When things get worse here, they will do the retired thing and I am guessing niece will be back to work. I know they are doing the retirees in Colorado. My niece is trained medical personnel and she is going to be laid off? Makes absolutely no sense.

My county has just banned walking in nature . Sorry, but I got both sad and angry reading this. Went to Walmart today and they have started limiting eggs, milk and water to one each. I then stopped by a local doughnut place (take out only here) to support local business, then did a drive by of my competitors' offices. All have cars parked in their lots, but have their blinds closed and signs on the door. This whole thing is crazy. On the plus side, the doughnuts are delightful, and I shared some with the medical staff upstairs.

DD called us upset because her car is finally ready, and the garage wanted it picked up ASAP. (They are apparently considered necessary and so still open.) DD lives a 10 min drive from the garage. Since we live walking distance, DH went to pick it up. So DD's car is parked in our garden, and it looks brand new. DH is happy he got another walk in. ;-) That so kind of you to share the donuts Iggy. This weekend- edit P's texts/Fri - correct 6 emails/Fri - edit Y's LONG paper - mark 2 MSc reports I'm going to try to get ahead on that long paper this weekend. Congrats on the new floors CCL!

It’s very minor in relation to what other people are going through but trying to close on the house when the state is on shutdown is a pain in the ___.
We are trying to coordinate with a mobile notary since we can’t go to the office.
I need a few more boxes and have no idea if stores are open. It doesn’t feel necessary but I also have to be out in 5 days.
I need to find out if goodwill is taking donations of things I can’t sell.
My dad was going to come today but got his truck and trailer stuck in the mud. I told him I’d go rent a U-Haul so he’ll probably pull it out by sheer stubbornness and come up tomorrow.
I have a cold and am worried it’ll get worse and is actually coronavirus.
My flights haven’t been cancelled but where I’m going has an “isolate and quarantine” in place for everyone from California 🙄
One of my clients postponed half of a lucrative contract. I was expecting it as his business has been hit hard.
Now the good news: I have plenty of toilet paper, cleaners and hand soap. I am washing all my blankets, pillow cases and sheets. I do not HAVE TO move out of state right away and I do not HAVE TO work at the moment. I WANT TO but won’t be in dire financial straits if isolation lasts for months. My dogs are happy and have plenty of food. I have a Kindle and lots of time to read. While I’m sick, I really do feel it’s a common cold.

startsmart -- hope you are feeling better soon. You have been working hard getting things ready to move. Get some rest and let your body heal. Exhaustion usually makes things worse. debthaven -- Sorry about the policies in place. Glad that you are getting the job 1 e-teaching thing under control. Sharon - I know that having work done on a house can be exhausting. But you will be so happy once it is finished. Iggy aka IG -- I also feel for the seniors in both HS and college. They have worked so hard for the last years to have the end of their last year go so bad. Have you read the letter from a teacher in my general area. Here is the link to share with your niece: Letter to Seniors. I was a teacher during Katrina and knows the angst of not seeing my kids graduation as we planned. We did have a ceremony reuniting all that we could but several did not make in back to the area. Update:I am continuing to keep up with the daily items. Getting a little done on the crafts and got hooked on that puzzle I started. Setting a timer to make me get up and not waste hours working on it. It is one from dollar tree with 1000 little pieces. Once it is finished i will repackage it and it will be added to the donation box. Did the same with one I did earlier this year but it was only 500 pieces with an easier design that this one with all the flowers. Still have to work outside to re-pot those plants and hope to do it next week. We are expecting rain this weekend and I am hoping that will knock out some of the pollen issues. I did go out for a little while and watered the plants that were very dry. I also start working on the bracelets. Got about half of my goal for them done. Started work on another project but have not made much progress on it. I did hear from the Social Security office and application completion was able to be done by phone so I do not have to venture out. The representative mentioned that all offices were closed to the public and they were working on cases already started prior to that . Without walk-ins they are able to process things a little faster. My area has been heavily affected by this virus and most people are following the social distancing procedure. I figure that I am okay with supplies for another week or so. I did a massive stock-up earlier this month and will go during the senior hour when I do have to venture out for things. My state currently has 479 positive cases and 13 deaths. I will remain in place for a while longer. Stay safe all!
